  1. I was going to post this elsewhere but the topic was closed to further comment. There have been many postings on the relationship between PagePlus and Publisher. When the Affinity range was being introduced I remember reading that the aim was to reach design professionals who worked with Macs. It would appear that Serif were not turning their backs on PagePlus users but all users of Windows. Along the line this has changed. I assume Serif have become aware that there are a substantial number of professionals working on Windows but that does not warrant the work/cost that would be involved in providing compatibility for the PagePlus customers they were happy to discard. This is not written as a bitter PagePlus user. I have tried PagePlus at various times and have X9 installed, but I have been a happy user of InDesign since it was first introduced. I am now retired and do much less with DTP so I stick with InDesign CS6 rather than pay a subscription. Publisher seemed to offer the possibility of a reasonably priced up to date alternative but I am put off by the feeling that Serif have shown that loyalty to customers is not their prime aim. Which is a great shame as there is much to like and look forward to with Affinity.
  2. Hi, I am running an art studio in Berlin (lifelike-figures.com), I shoot my own art/products and need to edit the photos then. I am more practical, not a computer nerd. Have been using a super old CS2 for editing for ages, but- surprise!- it is really not compatible anymore with my windows7 :(. I just bought and installed Affinity Photo, I thinks it's a great software. I tried to learn it using tutorials- but I hate tutorials, not my type of learning :(. I am looking for someone in Berlin (I am located at Neukölln), who is dealing with photoediting a lot and professionally, who is good at teaching, good at using this software and can bring my very old photpshop knowledge UP TO DATE! I would apprechiate if that person could come to my studio for 1 or two hours per week until I am "fluent" at affinity photo :). Of course I pay, price can be discussed. German speaking person preferred, I speak english well, but it would be easier in the end. Anyone interested? Best Lisa
  3. I'm hoping someone may be able to help. I have Designer for Windows and iPad. I have been working on a file with a fairly large number of layers, not more than two hundred, in the Windows version 1.6.5.123. I saved the file to OneDrive. I opened the file on Designer for iPad version 1.6.2.42. it took a very long time to open and showed what looked like part of the file, but not the entire file. So I closed the file. I went back to the computer and opened the file there. It is now missing many layers. The file size on the disk appears to be the same, but I cannot see any of the missing content. I went into OneDrive and reviewed previous versions, but none of them were recent enough to have any of the content. Is there any hope I can get those layers back? Is this a regular issue when moving from desktop to iPad if the file is large or complex? I did search the forums but did not find any discussions of this. I apologize if this has already been covered.
  4. Hey all, I'm unable to run any affinity installer to either update my programs or install them from scratch. Every time I try it starts a new process and then immediately terminates it, I have tried running it in compatibility mode, as Administrator and even redownloaded the same files. It's only happening with affinity products, I have been able to install other apps just fine on my machine.
  5. Does Affinity have "Line Stabilisation" like on "Leonardo " where you can toggle on and off? On really smooth surfaces I get a lot of jitters ( i have shaky hands and can't help it ) as an artist I don't want to have to zoom 200% to get a clean line. Would it be possible to add this feature; if it isn't already in "Affinity"? If it is, could you please point me to where i can find it?
  6. Windows uses special "XP Comment, XP Author, XP Keywords, XP Subject" fields (XP <name>) for presenting the associated information with the Windows File > Properties > Details presentation. After creating an Affinity Photo Exported JPEG file, the previous content of these fields disappear from presentation by Windows. Is there a way to preserve the use of these Windows "XP <name>" properties fields when a JPEG file is edited by Affinity Photo desktop and the image is Exported as a JPEG file (*.jpg)?
  7. Hi! I'm here for the first time! I admire the work on the program and keep my fingers crossed for further development I would like to ask if there is an option in the program or any plugin that would allow me to make a "jitter" effect? Something like shaking in animation. Currently, I draw two pictures and then place them in a video editing program next to each other to get that effect. However, the process of drawing twice the same image is time-consuming. If there was a possibility of moving lines/making jittery/wiggly in in the finished picture, it would speed up my work at least twice #1 Edit: Oh,I am using Windows 10 It's more or less the effect I'd like to get:
  8. What sort of speed should I expect from Affinity Designer? I am used to running Xara Designer Pro 9, which zips along, rarely lagging. Affinity Designer is nowhere near this smooth. See this video for a demonstration of performing similar actions in each application. Notice in AD the zoom takes 4 or 5 seconds to render, where it is instant in Xara. Also while typing the text takes a second or more to render in AD while it keeps up with the cursor in Xara. I understand that the two programs use different methods, but with AD acting this choppily it is almost unusable - even to move a few basic vectors around the screen is painful! I can't work out where the bottle neck lies. I have watched the GPU and CPU graphs both in Windows task manager and using MSI After Burner. I can't get CPU usage of more than 50% nor GPU usage grater than 45% despite the program hanging for seconds at a time as the display struggles to update. My system specs are in my signature. This is by no means a cutting edge machine, but generally handles what I throw at it quite nicely. Judging by the tutorial video I've watched this performance is not normal?! What should I try to remedy the situation?
  9. Hi, it seems to me that the feature "Mask to Below" does not work properly. When I have a layer (B&W) prepared to become a Mask and I do click "Mask to Below" it inserts some corrupted Pixel layer to the layer below :( Thanks Jindra
  10. Hello, When opening an image for editing the whole image is rescaled to the top left and placed on a transparent background. Changing the zoom in the navigator has no effect the image is just rescaled again. I have uninstalled Photo with the same result. I then launched Photo with the Ctrl key pressed and reset all the settings still no change. Any suggestions for fixing this are welcome. Kind regards Alex Affinity Photo Ver. 1.6.4.104 Windows Windows 10 64bit
  11. I have the trial installed on my Lenovo Ideapad 500 and am seeing a significant lag when using the selection brush tool. I have 16GB RAM but an AMD A10 processor so not sure if that’s the reason. Is there a better setting I should have somewhere? I also notice it’s hard to use the gradient tool due to lag as well. Just curious if I’m the only one wi5 this problem before I go and buy the software.
  12. Win 7 64 bit Same here on Designer V 1.6.4.104. Situation: - 2 Artboards - Mirrored with "symbols" - one curve - **look uploaded files, last save before the circles and freeze followed by cold kill programm - was painting 2 circles with gradient red to blue, over the edge to artboard 2 - copy 2 times - freeze at the third copy *happens one times *dont try again, syncro.afdesign syncro.afdesign
  13. There's something weird happening on my new laptop, after installing both Photo and Designer almost all application icons have changed into Affinity Photo icons. I have tried to find a solution within windows (delete IconCache.db and reverting default applications to default) without success. It only happens in the startmenu, after the application launches the correct icon shows. Before reverting default applications I had selected to use Affinity Photo as default PNG viewer.
  14. Hi I am currently using Windows laptop and I am planning to switch to MacOS during November. If I buy Affinity now, Can I use the affinity there on the go or am I supposed to pay again ? Thank You
  15. A number of apps allow me to set the font size of the text in the UI (for example menu and other section headings) Is this possible with Affinity? If not how do I request the feature?
  16. I use Linux and I'm planning to setup a Windows LSTB VM. Do Affinity Desktop products run on Windows 10 LSTB? Anyone have experience with Affinity and LSTB?
  17. Hi, My MacBook Pro is pretty much dead, which happened very shortly after I got Affinity Designer causing me to search for a new laptop to use affinity on! I then realized some of the computer reviews say most laptops can't display all of the Adobe rgb colors and Adobe rgb contains the cmyk colors; the laptop I had considered first could only display 60% of the Adobe rgb colors. I had previously just started designing for teespring and redbubble products such as pillows, phone cases, bags, shirts, leggings, etc... One company had me use cmyk colors and the other said they can do rgb/srgb etc.... I also looked into an external monitor that could display full Adobe rgb colors, but figured if it's plugged into a laptop that doesn't display all the colors needed, then it probably would effect the external monitor displaying full colors and the same would happen to a drawing tablet seeing it transmits the screen over/mirrors the laptop display? I went to Best Buy and someone there agreed (about the external monitor and the drawing tablet monitor not displaying full color if the laptop doesn't) who did graphic design and said I should get a iMac 5k screen desktop which is powerful and has the best screen (seeing I'm also into photography and music) as well as an iPad maybe for drawing later. I told that person it seems that iPads and Macs have p3 color which is not the same as Adobe rgb and cmyk, especially in blues, greens, and reds. But they said the Mac would be ok........ I don't want to have to spend a ton of money, but I also don't want to think I'm designing with a certain green and have it print a totally different green even with gamut check on because my screen can't display all the colors it should for designing. What computers or iPads do you use for designing to get accurate colors or recommend any drawing tablets? I really want to be able to draw and have accurate colors! Thank you in advance for all your help!!! I'm so excited affinity Designer just came out on the iPad! Also, I would love a 12.9" iPad pro but don't know how to get a new one cheap or when the next ones will be realeased? I figure this generation would be best because it has the better color and processor for designing. Is the 10.5 really small after a while for designing? A lot of people say they like drawing on it better than drawing monitors for many reasons. Which do you prefer? Also, if I got an iPad, would that transfer or count as one of my operating system devices licenses seeing you can have affinity on multiple devices you own with the same os? Or would I have to purchase affinity again?
  18. Hi! I've been using AD for several months now and in my experience, the export persona is very unstable. If I had not been smashing Ctrl + S vigorously, I had surely lost important work thanks to export persona constantly crashing Designer. I can replicate a kind of crash on both my work and home computer with the attached .afdesign fájl. Go into export persona and try shift click selecting multiple slices. On a different note. Is it enough if I send the explanation with the crash report that AD generates or do you prefer to have it reported here on the forums? muze3-additional-icons.afdesign

    Family sharing

I have just purchased affinity designer and have a question (well I’ve got ruddy loads actually but hey ho) how do I get Affinity Designer for windows on family sharing? And second cheeky Question, is there a PDF manual for download anywhere. . thanks folks Dave
  20. I have an unconventional setup on my windows machine that seems to trigger unhandled exceptions: One monitor runs on a Geforce GT 440 (1080x1920) and the other one on my Intel I7 2600k integrated graphics (rotated 1050x1680). I have Windows 10 build 1607, intel i7 2600k, nvidia Geforce GT 440, 16GB RAM. Both Designer and Photo crash when moved (or when parts of the UI is moved) to the rotated monitor. I'd be glad to share additional information if needed.
  21. I downloaded the trial yesterday, and while the tablet works fine with photosop, krita and illustrator, Affinity designer does not response to pressure changes AT ALL. I tried reinstalling the drivers, changing the brushes, fiddling with the setting, rebooting, and nothing seem to work. OS: Windows 10 x64 build 1607 desktop Tablet: Huion 1060P (new 8192)
  22. Hello everyone. I am experiencing a problem once I am designing websites. Once I try to create new text frame using text frame tool my Designer just freezes. I can´t do anything anymore. The only thing I can do is shut it down. I would like to get some suggestions on how to fix this issue. Thank you for your time. As well reinstalling helps the problem but once I start designing a new website. And I am a few hours into the project this just happens. I can copy already existing ones and resize those. I just can´t create new text fields.
  23. I was building some fairly large panoramas in Affinity Photo today, pointed AP at 30-40 raw files and sent it on its way. I was working on another (non-AP related) task when my C: drive filled up! I had to scramble to free up some space. Several programs I had started panicking on the low disk space, though I never saw a message from AP. I ended up canceling the rendering of my panos to worry about it later. When I closed AP, several gigs were cleared up on C:. I have a larger data disk that I would prefer to be used for this type of temporary data, but I couldn't find anything in the settings pages that allowed me to change it. Is there a setting for this, and if so, where? Thanks!
  24. In designer i have noticed when selecting fonts for editing , the selection doesn't show on various fonts. Some do and some don't. So you are guessing as to what is selected. Gary
  25. Whenever I doubleclick on a textframe to adjust it to its content, Affinity Designer crashes. This happens mostly in documents with multiple artboards and groups/layers.
