  1. Affinity suite needs to support the OS proxy settings better, especially when they require NTLM, Kerberos, Windows SSPI or SSO authentication credentials In my corporate job with a network proxy we can't bypass, it just fails to accept my Serif login or download any resources. I can tether to my phone to make it work, but I really shouldn't have to. I'd normally tell an app behaving like this to use the proxy, giving it a setting like username:password@x.x.x.x:8080 or tell it to use my installation of px-proxy (which works with apps that can take a proxy but can't use NTLM credentials) but Affinity Suite doesn't have such an option anywhere. Nor should it - it should be using the right OS APIs that use the configured proxy and authentication for network requests. I'm on Windows 10.
  2. This was discussed in another related thread and tested by a number of users using the “unzip to desktop” unofficial install method for the MSIX package in order to negate sandbox. It was learned that there is a significant performance increase when using the same package un-sandboxed versus sandboxed. (i.e. sandboxed == slower) It seems to impact higher end hardware more, but it isn’t clear for sure without more machines being tested. I tested an AMD card in the other thread and it showed a hit, but that card is not that powerful compared to the others. (Feel free to add your own tests below with higher end AMD cards) These tests are using the official 2.0.4.1701 MSIX installation vs MSI installations. 230127_2.0.4.1701_Sanded-vs-Unsanded-Benchmarks_ALL-MACHINES.zip I tested with 3 machines using 3x benchmarks for averaging each installation method: Machine 1 (Main): Microsoft Windows 10 Home (Build 19045) AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @ 3.8Ghz (-30 all core +200mhz PBO); Mobo: Asus X470 Prime Pro 32GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3080 X3C Ultra 12GB Monitor 1&2 4K @ 150% Perf Variance: 16 ~ 20% Sanded: Unsanded: Machine 2 (Hub’s): Microsoft Windows 10 Home (Build 19044) AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6 core @ 3.7Ghz Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming 16GB DDR4 (3200Mhz) Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC 8GB Rev 2.0 Monitor 1 1440p @ 225% Perf Variance: 15 ~ 21% Sanded: Unsanded: Machine 3 (Living Room): Microsoft Windows 10 Home (Build 19045) AMD Ryzen 7 3600 6-core @ 3.8Ghz (-30 all core +200mhz PBO) ASRock A520M-HDV 32GB DDR4 (3000Mhz) Asus TUF GTX 1660 TI Monitor 1 4K @ 225% Perf Variance: 12 ~ 14% Sanded: Unsanded:
  3. We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Publisher 2, version 2.0.4 This build is available as a (sandboxed) MSIX application installer and as an (unsandboxed) MSI/EXE traditional installer. If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

  6. While working with the curves panel I highlighted the Opacity dialog box, does not matter what the % is, I dragged the box over to the image and let go and it created a new blank layer that says it is Frame Text and lists the % of opacity that was present in the Opacity dialog box. Is this a BUG? If not what is the purpose of creating a text frame layer from this dialog box? thx, - T V (seems to happen from any highlighted input dialog box with the Move Tool (V))
  7. Hi, I recently attempted to install Affinity Photo 2.0.3, but was unsuccessful. I tried changing the file extension to .msi, but received an error stating that it is an unknown software. As I prefer to only install software that has been certified by Microsoft, I am hesitant to continue with the installation. Will this issue be resolved in the near future? If so, I would be interested in purchasing Affinity Photo if it is compatible with Cartoon Animator 5. However, if I am unable to install the software within the next 24 hours, I will have to consider other options. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, Greg T. SOLUTION: Change the non-existing extension (which the software developer forgot to add) to .msix and it makes the file able to install. So change affinity-photo-2.0.3 to affinity-photo-2.0.3.msix
  8. Do you have an SDK or something like OLE for Windows that I can automate processes? I'm a Python and Node JS programmer. An example would be to create a project in Publisher, and change only text and figures, through an external command of some language. That way you could automate processes. An example of this is MS Word, which has OLE WordApplication, where I can send commands, such as creating documents, exporting formats, among others without interacting with MS Word

  10. If a new update is available, after executing the "Check for Updates" command, a dialog will appear in which a question about performing the update is displayed. After a positive answer to this question (clicking the Install button) the update process continues, but the mentioned question, which is completely irrelevant and meaningless during the update process, is displayed further. Therefore, I think it would be appropriate and reasonable to modify the dialogue text during the update. The update process and its progress are indicated to the user both by means of a concise and much more user-friendly Progresbar, which also informs the user about how long the installation will take, but also by a silent indicator of the download process. I think it would be much more user-friendly if the entire update process was displayed with a single progressbar, with 0% position reserved for the download calculation, 1-49% position reserved for data download process, and 50-99% for the installation process. Thank you

  16. We are pleased to announce version 1.10.6/7/8 updates for the Affinity Suite on all platforms. Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher (on macOS, Windows, and iOS) had all recently been affected by recent operating system releases such as the launch of macOS Ventura, iOS 16 and Windows 10 and 11 updates. We have mitigated some of these in the 1.10.6 patches of all applications on all platforms. The changes fix/avoid the problems introduced by operating system changes thus returning earlier functionality. If you are using Windows 10 or 11, macOS Ventura (13.x) or iOS 16 then we recommend installing these updates. Other supported operating systems can install the update without issue, but they have no specific advantages/fixes over 1.10.5 for your OS. If you are on macOS Sonoma, the the 1.10.8 patch has a specific fix we would recommend you get 1.10.8 (on macOS only) is a single fix patch to address this Light UI issue on Sonoma UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (for existing V1 customers) Updates on macOS for Affinity Store Purchases The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, for example Affinity Photo > About...). 17. Hi All, Here is a share of my Live Luminosity Range Mask Saved Presets. In addition to the original Highlights, Midtones, Darks ( 3 ) saved presets, I have included 19 more. This may seem too technical for many, but, I will try my best to break it down how to use these. The file that Affinity Photo 2 uses to save these is called livemask_presets.propcol . It is located in user/(folder)/.affinity/Common/2.0/user . If you delete the livemask_presets.propcol file, affinity photo will replace with the original ( 3 ) livemask_presets.propcol file upon restarting the app., so, it should be fairly easy to work with. If you have created any custom files and cannot delete and want to, follow the previous steps. Otherwise, back up your file and save it to another location. Please feel free to comment... UPDATED... For the all of the users who already downloaded, Please download the new file V3 Hue. V2 has been removed for your safety. ( UPDATED ) to full set Luminosity/Hue/Band-pass. See next page... for more info on how to delete see... 18. The error "The data area passed to a system call is too small" can appear when trying to run Affinity V2 on Windows. This issue is related to how Affinity V2 installs into the WindowsApps folder and Microsoft SQL Server. The below KB update from Microsoft should resolve the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/topic/kb4073393-fix-the-data-area-passed-to-a-system-call-is-too-small-error-when-you-start-a-desktop-bridge-application-on-a-sql-server-5ae0994d-023a-d32b-3aad-526500b53993
  19. With version 1 I purchased from Serif directly, so I couldn't use the Windows App Store to install, as you'd have to purchase it again from the App Store. However, with V2 licencing the App Store install is free and then you activate. Does this mean updates are installed automatically and saves the hassle of downloading files for every update? Are there any downsides to installing via the App Store? Does it install to the same locations as the standalone install file?

  23. So, I posted elsewhere the problems with new installer . The SO CALLED option to install to another drive is terrible. Look that the MESS of a directory it creates It is important for a lot of COMPANIES and WORKFLOWS to have correct directory structures. The inability to INSTALL the APPS where you want is a massive problem for a lot of us in the GRAPHIC DESIGN world ( particularly in FILM ). I create graphics for movies and CONTRACT to many companies. I have had two notices this morning to stop using AFFINITY file formats and migrate to AI and EPS only. This is due to the NEW INSTALLER and they do not want to USE V2 because of it. Many of the companies and scripts and backups and a very strict workflow based on where things are and was the reason i was given. I just got away from finally use of ADOBE software. Now i have to start a SUBSCRIPTION again. This is a two fold issue in my case. FIRST off, I now need to spend more more money and go back to ADOBE . Two the companies are not PURCHASING V2 of AFFINITY Software ( one of the companies alone has 35 seats of the software ) .So now I have to output money for ADOBE and AFFINITY if i wish to keep using it. I love AFFINITY Software. Never had any complaints about what they have done or where they are going. BUT THIS IS A BIG SCREW UP in my eyes. We DON'T use ANY software that doesn't allow us a choice on where to INSTALL. PLEASE SERIF for those that are reading this and listening, Please give us the choice of the old installer and keep the users. Hope to hear something soon. Gary

  25. If I didn't notice, in the list of new properties and modifications, you neglected to mention the new dialog/form for editing Preferences. Thank you very much for me, because honestly, the previous one was really scary 🙂
