  1. Since the last Update of 1.7. all my panels are constantly changing with every boot of the program. Was fine with initial 1.7, but the first update screwed this up. Tried resetting with CONTROL on boot...but no luck. This is extremely annoying . Trying to work and this keeps changing. Anyone have a fix? Gary
  2. Some of the window panels don't show the arrow to resize. For example I can't vertically resize the "Layers" "Navigator" panels. How can I fix this issue?
  3. Hey! Just wanted to get answer to this simple question, as there is a 20% discount now and I don't wanna miss it. If you buy any Affinity product after the trial, is it linked to you somehow? Maybe through an email or something? Or is it just linked to the PC? I am asking this because I plan on getting a new one soon and I certainly don't wanna buy Affinity license twice. Thanks in advance.

  5. We are pleased to announce a major update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer, version 1.7.1 Changes in this Build The changes in Affinity Designer 1.7.1 (for Windows) over the recent release Affinity Designer 1.7.0 are as follows: Support for multi-page Affinity Publisher documents Fixed sporadic crash with HSL range control Removed limits to shadows highlights effects Avoid over saturated shadows and washed out highlights New curve for highlights filter applied to bounded pixel formats Remap shadows and highlights slider ranges Fixed hang when scrolling through Slices panel Fixed custom panel height being reset on app start Fixed Gradient Colour selection closing popup immediately Reduced file sizes when starting from/inserting an image Fixed crash when pressing Esc during a floating panel drag Removed resize gripper when the Status bar is visible Added double click to Assign/Convert profile dialog Fixed Column guides colour > Tint slider not working Added Save over imported PSD files Fixed Scale with Object causing stroke size to be incorrectly reflected in the Appearance panel Fixed Symbol unlinked orange dashed line not showing up for unlinked symbols Fixed 32-Bit Preview panel being clippedwhen upgrading from 1.6 Fixed CMYK Colour profile setting the Grey profile to empty Fixed Noise not being applied on a gradient stop colour Fixed crashes in History and Layers panel Fixed brush preview outline still present when colour picking with Alt+click Enabled Resize document to work withphysical units Fixed EPS "Export text as curves" checkbox being disabled Fixed PDF export of RGB documents in greyscale documents Fixed sporadic crash on print Added preference for opening documents in a new floating container Fixed Adjustments thumbnails in the Layers panel are not being updated Fixed failure in 1.7.0 to read custom keyboard shortcuts. Changes in 1.7.0 (Since 1.6.5) The changes in Affinity Designer for Windows 1.7.0 over the last Affinity Designer patch 1.6.5 are as follows: Tools We've overhauled most of the core tools, adding subtle new features to make you more productive. New Point Transform Tool allows you to scale and rotate objects from any node. The Node Tool now contains a 'Transform Node' option which provides a containing box for the selected nodes and allows for more freeform editing of the nodes. New 'Cube' grid setup mode (take a look in 'View' -> 'Grid and Axis Manager...'). Pen tool now has a 'rubber band' mode and also a mode to allow future curves to be added to the current object's curves (for example, the character 'a' is constructed of two curves in a single 'curve object' and this mode makes that construction simpler). Node tool can now auto-snap nodes if you drag a node from one curve over the top of a node from another (selected) curve and pause, it will offer to snap to the same geometry as the node you're hovering over (ie, modify the on and off-curve nodes to match). This is really useful for trying to reconstruct areas of one curve from another curve. Node tool now allows for lasso selection of nodes by holding the Alt/Option key and dragging a selection lasso. Pencil tool now offers a 'sculpt' mode that allows for extending or manipulating curves in a more natural way. More to come in this area soon. Many tools now allow for 'Alignment widgets' which you can toggle the visibility of in the context toolbar. When enabled you can visually adjust the alignment or even, for example, 'align to centre, snapped to the left edge of this object' by simply click/dragging. Fill tool correctly allows editing of skewed fill handles and newly-created skewed fills draw much nicer now. Ruler origin can be edited by simply dragging the area where the rulers intersect each other - it can even be snapped onto objects in the document. Guides can be edited in most tools by simply dragging a guide in the ruler area. Grid setup is now more interactive: origin can be dragged, axis scale adjusted and angle adjusted on-document, complete with snapping to objects and angles in the document to help you reconstruct useful grids from finished artworks or sketches. By enabling 'Edit in Plane' on the new Isometric Panel, tools can edit objects and appear to make those edits along the currently active plane - extremely useful for artists who enjoy working with any axonometric projections. You can now drag the rotation centre point (when enabled on the context toolbar) while holding Ctrl and it will translate the object - this is actually very useful for positioning and snapping objects relative to others. Shapes tools now have presets so you can create your own favourite shape setups and more easily use them again. There are just far too many subtle tool changes to mention here, but hopefully you'll find the tools much improved General Arrowheads are now available in the Stroke Panel. New Appearance Panel allows for multiple strokes and fills on a single shape. HDR / EDR monitor support New brushes, styles and assets are now shipped with the product. Visible bleed (accessed from the View menu) so you can more easily design into the bleed area - a common feature request. “Alternate futures” for document history have been added. Traditionally, if you roll back the undo history then do something else all your changes after that point are lost. Designer will now display a small branch icon in the history tab when you do this. Pressing that button will cycle between all the different “futures” after that history entry - meaning you will never lose work you have done. New 'Isometric Panel' makes it easy to setup and work with various axonometric projections within the application. HEIF images can now be loaded directly into Designer. If they contain a depth map, this will also be loaded as a second layer. Because depth maps are typically lower resolution than the main image, optional “smart” upsampling will be performed. Designer now supports custom document presets - a popular feature request. A new blend mode - Linear Burn - has been added. Layers Panel now allows you to tag individual layers with a colour and display thumbnails with transparent backgrounds and at different sizes. New “Move inside / outside” commands have been added - useful for quickly clipping/unclipping. New "Merge curves/Separate curves" commands. Grids now have an editable number of angle subdivisions. The Hard Mix blend mode has been improved. Numerous text improvements have been made - including new features such as bullets and numbering. Significant PDF import / export improvements and fixes. Improved Freehand import slightly - failing to read all of a file shouldn't force it to produce a 'failed to load' response, instead we just load the bits that we *could* read New splash screen and Persona icons Brushes Designer 1.7 introduces a new “sub-brush” mechanism, developed in conjunction with Paolo Limoncelli (DAUB® Brushes). This exciting feature allows any raster brush to have a list of other brushes attached which will draw at the same time. Each sub-brush has a fully separate and customisable set of dynamics. You can control when the sub-brushes are drawn and how they blend with the main brush. Symmetry (up to 32-way) is now supported - including on-canvas controls and optional mirroring. Wet edges and accumulation are now available on colour brushes and brushes with HSL variance. Brushes with multiple nozzle textures have always chosen the nozzle at random. In 1.7, the nozzle choice has a dynamic controller and ramp for greater control. All pixel brush tools now support left and right arrow keys for rotation - a common feature request. Adjustments The HSL adjustment layer has been rewritten. It now supports custom hue ranges, a new algorithm, new UI and picker controls. The Levels adjustment layer now supports output levels - a common feature request. The White Balance adjustment layer has been rewritten. The Selective Colour adjustment layer has been rewritten. PSD import / export of adjustments has been improved. The Vibrance adjustment layer has been rewritten. The Recolour adjustment layer has gained a lightness slider. Misc There is currently new free content available to claim in the Welcome Screen This thread is for commenting on this announcement. Please do not post bugs or problems that you find when using this version of the software in this thread, instead make a new thread in the Designer Bugs on Windows section and questions about usage go in the Desktop Questions forum. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) For purchases from the Affinity Store the software: Each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer any available update, or it can be downloaded from here. 7. Ever since the upgrade when I try to group layers AP crashes. This is within a saved AP file. Windows 7 - 64 bit ~ AP 1.7.0.367 Is there a later patch after this version? I had no problems before other than kind of laggy but I don't have a real powerful computer, either so it was not unexpected. Can I just uninstall then reinstall the previous version? EDIT 6.15.19 I saved this file as a jpg and created a couple of layers in the jpg file, grouped them and there were no issues. ALSO, I did not mention that I had grouped layers in the original file so the crash is happening after the RAW file is saved as an Affinity Photo file with the history saved.
  8. I'm running into a problem when making an intersecting compound. Basically, the German Flag seems to shift to the point where you can only see the bottom third or so (see video). I've used this function many times and have never seen this before. Affinity_Designer_6_29_2019_10_03_10_PM.mp4
  9. Hi all, I recently updated to Affinity Photo 1.7.1.404 from 1.6.5.x through the Windows Store and now every image that I open, whether it's an *.afphoto, DNG, JPEG, PNG etc., opens way too dark. Documents created in previous versions are also rendered way too dark but are exported with the right colours and brightness, while new documents result in overly exposed images, more like as if the gamma went through the ceiling. The samples available in the Welcome screen also seem to not match the snapshots available on the Windows Store. From the same snapshots I also noticed that the icon for the Photo persona also seems darker. The "Color" panel also gets way too dark. My device: Windows Store snapshot: Software configurations: I tried running the trial version of Affinity Photo 1.6.5 (got it from the Downloads page) and the problem now seems to happen there as well My device is the Dell XPS 9570, running Windows 10 1903 with Intel UHD Graphics 630 (driver version 25.20.100). This issue also affects Affinity Designer but every other app on my system works just fine. Ideas?
  10. Hi, I just wanted to ask whether the Metal performance improvements on MacOS have been brought to Windows too, or are most effects here still being computed on the CPU?
  11. The software (Affinity Designer v 1.7.1.404) don´t recognize my wacom tablet. I´ve a wacom intuos pro running whit the latest drivers
  12. Hi, Yesterday I purchased Affinity Photo (for Windows) on 20% off sale. I downloaded the application directly from the order page. When I installed and launched it, there was no option for activation! The application worked straight without that! I uninstalled it and tried launching again after re-installation. Sill the same; there was no activation window! I also tried removing the Serif registry entries and reinstall. Still no option to enter the product key for activation. Is that normal? Does it come pre-activated as I downloaded it from the order page? If no, what's the solution? Is there any option on Affinity Photo to know whether the product is activated or not? My OS: Win 10 Home 64-bit (1809)
  13. Latest version of Affinity designer installation keeps failing. Only one topic here addresses such similar case, in which a solution is to do a clean reboot. Wich won't cut it, in my case. As I attempt installation, by pressing "update" in the setup/installation-wizard window. It will say "preparing" and some loading bar will fill up real quick, when full or almost full, it'll simply & plainly display a "failed" in the window. This happens when I try and install the latest version, I already have affinity designer installed. Is that mabey the problem? I just don't want to find myself in a situation where I have uninstalled affinity designer and still it won't work...like me if it won't ha ha. I'm running it in Windows 8.1
  14. Affinity Photo v1.7.1.404 (Windows) After viewing the macro tutorial video I generated the macro following the steps then clicked the settings icon to activate user interaction on how much to grow the selections before triggering the inpainting process. When I run the macro it displays a box with the text Preview: Inpaint after Rotate CRH1, as well as the Grow/Shrink radius settings dialogue box. However, after a couple of seconds the macro continues without waiting for the user input (that is, I haven't clicked the Apply button) & completes the operation with the settings dialogue still visible. If I then click the Cancel button the macro actions are undone, or if I click the Apply button it seems to run the macro a second time, although nothing changes. In the tutorial video a Preview box is not seen, so I do not understand why it appears when I run the macro. Also, I was expecting the macro to wait until I click the Apply button. Is the macro behaving as expected, & if so, how do I get it to let me change the grow/shrink radius value interactively when running it? I attach a screenshot showing the two boxes as described above, & the .afmacro file of the exported macro. crh1.afmacro
  15. I ordered the windows version but it downloaded the Mac version. How can this be changed?

  18. I've just downloaded the trial, but can't get it to install due to "Supported windows version not found". I'm running Windows 10, all updates done. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks in advance for any help.
  19. Currently, Affinity Suite applications are added directly to the Start menu. Personally, I prefer better organization by group, so I created a subgroup for Affinity Suite. Which might be of interest to some users as an option when installing applications.
  20. Standard for Windows modal dialogs is, that they contain an icon based on its type and severity - Error, Warning, Question, Exclamation. However, an Affinity dialogs displayed application icon, but does not say anything about the severity of the operation / decision. The application icon should be in the dialog title
  21. I am having performance problems with Affinity Photo 1.7.0 and I had to go back to 1.6.5 until Serif fixes issue. In the meantime, how do I disable the pop up notifying me that there is a new version available? It pops up every time I start Affinity Photo. I am running in a Windows environment.
  22. Based on the latest update 1.7.0 running on Mojave 10.14.5, after switching to separated mode I couldn't switch back to Windows mode. Running MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB 2133MHz Radeon Pro 460 4GB Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB
  23. I was having this discussion with Mike Wenzloff in a Quark forum yesterday which was a great help to where I may go with this workflow. I wanted to ask the same question here to see if there is any serious pitfall I am not seeing among other Affinity users. I work for a company that does a lot of basic layouts; brochures, badges, mailers. I would like to buy Publisher for their machines so that I could just send them a Publisher file in Dropbox and they could change any text right from the program. They currently do this with MS Office files so it seems like moving to this workflow with our advertising would make as much sense. I'm on Mac they are on Windows and some also use iPads if Publisher comes to iPad at some point. Is anyone else doing something similar to this? Having that low price opens up workflows that I haven't tried before. I am also planning on incorporating other tools like Slack and Dropbox in this workflow.
