  1. In Illustrator I use the Stroke Width Tool and lot and I've found that when I import Ai files over to Affinity Designer, the strokes that have been modified with the Illustrator Width Tool have all been expanded and therefore no longer strokes. Obviously this presents a compatibility problem where all my previous strokes are no longer editable. I'd like to see a directly compatibly with the Illustrator Width Tool or not have the strokes expanded and converted the Affinity Designers Pressure adjustment (Though I like the direct Width Tool much more). Thanks.
  2. Hi people. I ever use adobe illustrator for my job, but the affinity designer showed a incredible software and a great promise. But unfortunately i've been missing some tools I did not find in the Affinity Designer. Could they help me know if these tools exist in Affinity? Tool 1: Blend Tool. In the adobe illustrato exist the possibility to blend forms and linde, creating interpolation between the forms. Is there something similar in the Affinity Designer ? Tool 2: Aling to Key Object Tool 3: Width Tool In the Illustrator existe the possibility to thicken and taper the lines in the drawing. On the Affinity Designer, the only option I found for this would be the pressure panel. Is there the possibility to control this effect straight in line? At first these are my main doubts. Thank you to anyone who can help me! Fernando Constant
  3. I create maps in QGIS (an open source GIS mapping program on PC and Mac). QGIS can export as PDF and SVG, but the best way is PDF. The problem with PDF's is that all the lines come in as individual layers (objects) while in SVG'sthey are at least grouped as sublayers. To get around this in Illustrator, I can use the Select>Same>Stroke Color and then move all the selected features to a new single layer group. Designer could use an expanded selection ability like Illustrator's. As far as selecting goes, there's a plugin for Illustrator called Select by rj-graffix.com which adds many selection abilities (but right now it doesn't appear that Designer supports plugins). Freehand used to have really robust selection abilities via a dialog box, and this included text attributes. Illustrator has never come close. Thanks.
  4. Hey Serif, is there (in aff designer) an option to minimize the studio panel tools to single icons as its implemented in PS? I work often on my 15" inch laptop with fullhd and i have lack of place here because the studio has its own minimal width and cannot be minimized. Viewport is much better in PS thanks this and i will appreciate this feature in designer too, because i actually replaced PS by your sexy software :) Thanks. Sorry for possible topic duplicate - i couldn't read every feature request here. Tom
  5. Hi guys, I made a video to describe the problem I was getting in affinity Beta, latest install on 23rd October. Basically the line width was not working, and showing erroneous values, being jumpy. It happened a few times in the session, so I eventually made a video of it to post here: https://youtu.be/FD2GYKQW1yc I had to upload to youtube as the file was too big to upload here. The video shows the unresponsiveness of it, and that by continually just fiddling eventually it comes right, but it's very likely a software problem as my hardware is top notch and new. OS: win 10. The audio in the video for some reasons turns up the bass way loud, but it should show the problem and you should still hear me (Yes i have an accent..one that hollywood in all its efforts just cannot replicate ;) )
  6. It should be possible to only have one axis in a grid, for columnar layouts common in web and print design. Those use cases don't really need a second axis, and all the unnecessary horizontal grid lines are distracting in that context.
  7. Hello Initially I expected the input fields for the width and height in the New Batch Job window were for specifying the maximal width and height an image could be (not unlike Photoshop's Image Processor). With that thought, I added a few images with portrait and landscape orientation in the batch and specified 1024 in both the width and height fields. I expected that the landscape images wouldn't exceed a width of 1024 px and the portrait ones wouldn't exceed an height of 1024, all while retaining their original aspect ratio. I just found out it doesn't work like that, and the image will be forced in the specified sizes by stretching their original ratios (a square in my case). Is this by design? I can't think of many uses for this and in that case, I hope you can add a maximum-option to the New Batch Job window in order to add the functionality I described above. I'm looking forwards to hearing your thoughts! Bauke
  8. For me, the UI for the Stroke colour and width could be refined. Now, the width indicator is always white and it doesn't reflect the current colour that is being used for the stroke. For me, it would be better if the stroke width indicator (if that is what it is called) appeared as the same colour as the stroke that was being applied. Sorry if that isn't so clear but my screen shot should make it clear. Hokusai PS. I'm loving new beta!
  9. Drag the stroke width slider: Maximum is 100 points and minimum is 0 points¹ Select the point size field and scroll with the mouse.: Maximum is unlimited (OK), but minimum is also unlimited (a bug) ¹ Perhaps the minimum should be a hairline, or whatever the application's minimum line width is, as there is a button for No stroke.
  10. I'm finding that when I create a custom style, the stroke colour and fill colour are applied, but not the stroke width.
  11. I do a lot of linear and I often experiment with different stroke widths. I'd like to be able to edit the stroke width of multiple objects at one time. The lack of this feature in AD has always been surprising to me, since all graphic design apps I've used have something similar. To briefly describe the feature, I'd like to be able to choose a few objects and set the stroke width of all of them to 4px, regardless of their previous stroke widths or lack thereof. I think this will be useful in a wide array of scenarios.
  12. So I just want to draw out some lines with the pen tool and have them taper at the ends. It seems the only way I can do this is to draw the line, select my profile for pressure, and then click one of the brush presets. I have to do this for each line- but would like to just have these settings "on" and be able to keep drawing similar lines in the same layer. It looks like it's supposed to work the way I want, as all the required functions stay selected (pressure curve, brush style), but still I have to repeat the steps. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong or is this a bug?
  13. There are any shortcuts for brushes available? I want to change witdth, flow, opacity and hardness without moving to the top toolbar. best wishes Marco
  14. Hello all, I've found the pressure profile feature in AD, but for some reason the feature doesn't allow for linear changes between values, except in profiles that have only a start and end point. Additionally, it doesn't allow the width of each side of a stroke to be changed independently of the other. Alas, this means that what might be boiled down to simple strokes (eyelashes or lips, for instance) must be formed of curves. Also alas, this means that editing such shapes must necessarily be more convoluted and less precise, especially because the profile must be modified in a separate editor, away from the artwork, which adds guesswork, and again more time and effort, into the equation. So I would like to propose a more flexible pressure/width profile feature, which allows pressure profiles to be edited directly on strokes, to allow curves and corner points — now that I think about it, a vector brush system would do as well. So I'm putting these forward: a more versatile stroke width feature, and vector brushes. Thanks, —Russ Johnson Murfreesboro, TN
  15. It would be nice if the Absolute Sizes checkbox present in 1.1.2.22547 included the stroke width as well. Relative Stroke Width could behave like corner radius percentage.
  16. First of all: Affinity Designer is one of the best mac apps! I love it and I can't wait for Affinity Photo. Finally I can ditch bug-ridden Pixelmator. You might have already seen my review in the app store in which I listed a bunch of things that I think could be improved or added, but here I want to focus on just one. When you use a brush with size variance enabled you can control the width of the stroke while painting, but it seems like you cannot currently make changes "after the fact". What I hope to see is the ability to edit the stroke width at each node or point along the path, perhaps similar to the bezier handles. Side note: I think there should be a "Velocity (Inverse)" setting in the "Controller" drop-down menu for the vector brush tool options but it's missing. Thanks for stopping by!
