Painting with watercolor can be very difficult because I was fighting the urge to make it clean and trim. Mimicking the water spread and blots make it even more interesting.

I am talking about a story that is about a world of a little girl, who wonders in her own life with her little firendly animals and the world she sees, more of decribing about little girls heart and their imaginary world, what they see what they think and how they react to the world. Its tells more about the things out of reality but true to a little child.More of a learning, exploring and searching.

affinity designer Watercolor Painting in Affinity Designer
risingkirin posted a topic in Share your work
Hey Everyone, Here is a timelapse video of me creating a watercolor still life painting in Affinity designer. I had a lot of fun playing with the different brushes and testing the different capabilities of the software. Enjoy! Here is the video from start to finish: https://youtu.be/y6l6-wOOf2A Let me know what you think? Thanks, Mike- 8 replies

My style is typically centered around being similar to that portrayed in Ghibli films, but today I chose to draw some snow for the first time, as well as in a new way. I wanted some story in it, so I chose to add a baboon. Is it a statue? Is it alive? Both? My main qualm with my piece is I think I could have done some better shadows. But that is something to try out in some future art.

Hi, does anyone know if I can use old photoshop filters like drybrush, watercolor, poster edges, cutout... in AP. I pointed it at my CS, CS2, CS4 photoshop plugin folders, but nothing loaded and even if it loaded will these artistic filters work in AP. I need them. I got Krita, but it does not have what I need and the GMIC stuff I guess will not work on Mac OS. HELP.

It would be very cool if Affinity could design some OPTIONAL Plugin's for the Fine Artists that are working digitally now. Corel Painter is cool and there are so many others that are also available of course, but a one stop shop always makes life easier. It would be very cool if Affinity were to start creating Plugins that people could download if they are interested in the Fine Art look. There are a lot of people that have no reason to clutter or grow in complexity their software. They are happy with the photo editing, etc. But then there are those of us that boot up Corel Painter (or similar software) to do a nice painting. IF Affinity could create something that offers different paper textures right off and paint brush options that mimic the various FINE ART painting options like they have in Corel, it would be very cool. I for one love just relaxing and doing a painting at times when I am done with a project but it is with Corel (or even photoshop). It would be wonderful to give an optional Plugin or download to give use Fine Artists more to play with. And just for the heck of it, here is a piece I did a while back with Painter. I have tried a number of things and I still can't get this clean or wonderful of an effect with Affinity Photo. Granted, I am sure I will figure out something but dang if it would not be so much easier to have a "Canvas" texture to start with and a selection of Paint Brushes including some that truly give a good "Oil Paint" feel to them. Just sayin'

I would love it if Affinity Designer for iPad and Desktop would have a built-in emulation of traditional media such as watercolor which flows and mixes in real time similar to the real thing. Currently there are a few apps/programs that can do this such as an Adobe project called Gemini which will have a paint/watercolor emulator for both iPad and desktop. A basic watercolor emulator in Adobe Sketch, and a very detailed one in Rebel 3 by escape motions. A demo video of Rebel's watercolor in action. A video of watercolor brushes being used in adobe sketch. Adobes project Gemini iPad App in action. Project Gemini's Watercolor Emulation in Action.

Can't figure out how to delete this post, if mods could remove that would be great There was a free watercolor wash brush here but there was basically zero interest.

An experiment with vector strokes and building a style for creating textured fills with stroke/fringed edges. A little bit of an ink and wet media look and more opaque strokes. Doffing my hat to the Affinity Design developers.
