  1. I am experiencing a very bizarre problem playing macros with my Wacom pen. When I click on a macro in the library with my pen it turns blue but the macro does not play. It does very occasionally but on most occasions it requires several attempts (usually three or four) before it responds. If I click in the library with my mouse it plays first time always. I have tried the following: Verified my Wacom driver is up to date and re-installed it for good measure. Tried every variation I can think of in tap speed, pressure and duration. Tried adjusting tip pressure in the Wacom driver. To check if I had a pen tip problem I have tried mapping the left click to the eraser button and the side buttons. No difference. I have tried mapping left click to the tablet touch surface and finger tapping. No change. My tablet and pen work perfectly in every other aspect of AP and AD and in all my other 'pen sensitive' graphic apps as well as in the El Capitan OS. The problem is unique to the Library in AP. Has anyone else experienced anything resembling this? Does anyone have any bright troubleshooting ideas? This is totally bizarre and frustrating. :( Mac Pro 2 x Quad Core. OSX 10.11.6. Intuos Touch Pro 5 Large.
  2. Hi, please is Wacom Intuos Pro FULLY compatible with AP for Win? I mean including ExpressKey and all other functions. Want to know whether the investment is useful for me Thanks for info Jindra
  3. In the adjustments panel I have deleted all the presets in the gradient map tab, just left the default and created 3 new presets. I can’t pick them with the Wacom pen, it works randomly, I have to click them several times to work. Picking them with the mouse works fine.

Pen Tool Stops for no reason

Hello, im new here, sorry in advance for my bad english Since the 1.6 update im having a annoying problem when using the Pen Tool. Tried to find another topic on this, but could not find it anywhere As i go clicking, the cursor simply stops and i have to start over again, i need to use the pen tool to create zig zag shapes but with this bug is impossible. I made a gif with a video capture that you can see whats going on Im using a Mac Mini, with High Sierra, AD 1.6 and a wacom tablet intuos 4 With mouse i have no problem and in the previous version this error was not happening. Any tips on whats going on and how to fix? Any help is highly appreciated
  5. I'm having an issue when using Affinity Photo or Designer with Astropad connected or a Wacom Intous 5 touch connected, where the fans on my MBPr 15" go on high and stay there until I'm done with the selections and deselect. Once that's done then everything calms down and goes back to normal. This only happens with these devices connected. Using selection tools without them connected there is no issue. Connected to using the selection tools and the fans is that sometimes for no apparent reason the selection tools just won't work at all, but the fans kick on while trying to use them as if they are working. It's bizarre and weird to say the least. Seems like the selection tools are having issues in many ways. I also have Photoshop and there is no issue using the program or it's selection tools with these devices connected. Why would having a drawing device connected to the computer cause this program to struggle with selections? This is a huge problem for it stresses the computer for no reason. I do not want to go back to Adobe products, but cannot stress my very expensive computer on such a simple task all day long. Also, cannot use this program if these tools just don't work for no apparent reason. Please fix this! Thank you for any and all info regarding this issue and for anything you can do to fix it.
  6. Hi! I have a pretty important question here ... (at least for me ) I want to buy a graphic tablet to stop wasting paper all the time. I usually create logos on paper, scan them and then vectorise my concepts. But I thought it was time for a change. So I want to buy a graphic tablet with a screen. (I've already tried without screen and I don't like it) So got on Amazon, and I found the Huion GT-185. This model is in my price range, it is big enought for me, ... As every good buyer does, I did some research : some say the tablet doesn't work with affinity, others say it does ... confusing. So, I would like to know if any of you use a graphic tablet with a screen that works completely fine and that isn't to expensive ... I said I would go up to 550€, but I prefer less of course Thank you for your responses in advance
  7. Hello. I have a question: Do you have any experience how does Affinity Photo or Designer works through any Wacom Intuos tablet (not Cintiq) and extra wide monitor with 21:9 ratio? I use external LG 34" with resolution 3440x1440 connected to MacBook Pro (mid 15) via Thunderbolt 2. I would like to buy tablet, probably Intuos Pro L but I am worried about large monitor and crazy ratio screen. Does it work? Can you see any potential issues? Thanks.
  8. This may be convoluted to explain, but please bear with me, it's quite interesting! I would like to suggest a change, or an improvement, to the behaviour of number dials (fields?). More often I would like this tweak to be implemented in the Character and Paragraph panels. They are the main panels where you have a tonne of numbers in little boxes! So, this... A Wacom pen's second button is usually set to Middle Mouse, which makes it great for panning, zooming etc, and should make it great for dialing numbers in to little boxes - but with Affinity, it currently doesn't. You can easily hold the middle button and scroll numbers, which is great, but only within the number's little box - as soon as your cursor goes beyond the box's bounds, it cuts out, or sometimes worse, will begin dialing the numbers in the box above or below the one you wanted to change, which is horribly frustrating. The thing is, that while you are trying to change the number with your middle button, you are still holding that button down - I would expect the numbers to keep changing always while I have the middle button held down, regardless of where the actual cursor is - once you have initiated the number change, but middle clicking on the number in its little box, the mouse cursor should be pretty much ignored as long as you have the button held down. I am aware that the current set up works absolutely fine on a normal mouse, as you just leave the cursor inside the number field and scroll leisurely away on your mouse wheel, but please try this with a Wacom pen (other styluses are available) and try to understand where I'm coming from? Honestly, this small change will make the products a whole lot more comfortable for graphics tablet users. Thanks for listening! Wayne

    Weird Wacom Stylus issue

I have a weird issue with my Wacom stylus. When using Affinity Photo it works, almost everywhere. Selecting tools, moving image boundaries etc. It also works in the Adjustments / Layers / Effects area. I can select one of the bars - for example 'Exposure' - and then move the Exposure slider left and right. All good. The issue happens when I try and select a Preset for those adjustments. I tap the stylus on the preset thumbnails, and they 'flash' once as if they have been selected. But nothing happens to the image. I thought it was a Wacom / Affinity issue but then I happened to try selecting the Preset thumbnail with my finger rather than the stylus (I have the Wacom touch pad version). My finger is able to select the presets, the thumbnail flashes and the image changes to suit the preset, however, the stylus can not, despite the thumbnail flashing to indicate it has been selected. With both my finger and the stylus the thumbnail flashes to indicate selection, but only my finger actually change the image. Any ideas?

    monoprice tablet

i have a monoprice drawing tablet and dont know how to get it to work on affinity designer and any help to get the pressure sensitively to work would help a lot thanks
  11. Hello. I would like to know if there is possibility to set the pressure sensitivity of a Wacom pen. I would like also to have some pencil brushes. Do they exist in Aphinity photo? Or do I need Aphinity Designer for this? I want to do some sketching. Thank you. With Kind Regards. Jozef
  12. Hi there, I hope somebody has an idea. You remember, when you use the brush tool, you can change the size and sharpness with the short cut ctrl+option and dragging. This works with the mouse for Designer and Photo. But, why not with my Wacom Intuos 4 I get crazy :-( Thanks a lot
  13. Hello all. Recently I ordered an XP-Pen Artist16 15.6 Inch Monitor Drawing Tablet and I'm awaiting delivery this week and looking forward to it. I have, however, heard some complaints before about calibrating colour, or rather not knowing how to, and being sure that drivers are installed appropriately otherwise there would be issues with pressure sensitivity and such. I heard XP-Pen is a very good alternative to Wacom and was more than happy to decide on the investment, but I was wondering if anyone here has used the Artist series before and would have some tips on colour/cursor calibration, driver installation or any other experiences to make sure that starting using it on Photoshop CS6, TV Paint or any other drawing software will be as smooth and frustration free as possible? And is there a chance that other drivers being installed on my PC such as Wacom or Huion would cause any interference with the XP-Pen one, as I have used both brands before? Any advice or shared experiences at all would be greatly appreciated. I use a HP Pavilion 15.6 inch laptop with 8GB ram, AMD A8-4555M APU processor and a 64 bit operating system on Windows 10 (with pen and touch support) if any of this should be taken into consideration also. Thank you in advance for your kind support and help. - Mark K
  14. Hi, I have problem, that with AP my tablet (Wacom) works the other way round..... while Zooming it Scrolls and while Scrolling it Zooms.... no matter whether using the Touch Wheel or Touch On gestures. Other applications work fine, so the bug should be in the AP (Win), I have checked the settings twice..... Thanks Jindra
  15. Hi, Does anyone know if Affinity will have the support for the Wacom Bamboo Sketch stylus on the ipad in the near future? I'm currently using the apple pencil but it feels like I'm scratching on wood with it. There's only a handful of apps that support the Bamboo Sketch I was hoping Affinity would soon have the support as well. Or am I barking up the wrong tree, is it Wacom I should be approaching for this?
  16. Hi! Just started working with AD and really love it, but I've got a couple of things that don't work so smooth. First of all, I work with a Cintiq 22' touch. I would like to use the zoom slider on the back but it doesn't zoom. How can this be fixed? Undo in AD is different than in photoshop. I would like to change the shortcut to 'alt-command-z', but when I do this it only enters 'z'. How can this be fixed? Many thanks!
  17. I've got a Wacom Bamboo tablet (I know it's rather dated, but it works well). When I regularly used Adobe Photoshop (18+ years) it wasn't as laggy, but with Affinity Photo I often notice quite a bit of lag. Sometimes I brush and it just doesn't show. I use a 9' USB cable because my wife likes cables to be unseen and out of the way (the same with computer boxes!). My system has 32Gb ram and quad-core i7 processor. As I mentioned before, it didn't lag much at all with Photoshop (but did on occasion). Is it possible that the length of the cord has something to do with the lag? Is it more probable that there's something going on with the software itself? Is it because the Bamboo tablet is older and a newer tablet would be more responsive? I'd like to explore these ideas and see what could give me a more responsive experience.
  18. Hello, In an effort to transition from Photoshop to Photo, I thought I'd try to at least establish a freehand sketch for a design I'm working on in Photo rather than Photoshop. I tend to use a simple hard round brush with shape dynamics enabled in PS and Jitter determined by Pen Pressure. With Photo, I've selected an equivalent brush under the Basics and set Size Jitter to Pressure under Dynamics. So far so good. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I sketch a freehand curved line in Photo, the precision isn't quite there. The curve I draw is often made up of a series of small (and sometimes not so small) straight lines rather than following the pen exactly. It's as if the software is unable to keep up with the pen and interpolates between two points along the movement of the pen. Photoshop doesn't do this. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a known issue and if so, will it be addressed? Having the line follow the pen exactly is critical Thanks, -grant
  19. Hiya, I'm about to purchase both Affinity photo and designer as I've been very impressed with their performance in the free trial. I'm also considering purchasing a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet and want to know if Wacom support Affinity applications? I'm using an iMac. many thanks Pete
  20. Hi everyone! Perhaps it's just me, but I can't get wacom's grip pen tilt sensor to work with the brushes. I was trying with the DAUB markers (the one with the "vertical" shape). I can get pressure sensitivity, but no tilt for changing the shape rotation ... Is this possible? Thanks.

Colour picker and Intuos 3 fault?

I have found that the Photo colour picker when clicked on with a Wacom Intuos 3 pen with latest driver selects a new colour alright but switches to black as soon as the pen is returned to the canvas. If the colour picker is removed from its dock and placed elsewhere on the screen or on a second monitor it works as expected. The pen is also rather laggy compared with using a mouse or Magic Trackpad. I've tried adjusting the Wacom preferences but has made no difference. Not a huge problem but I guess one that could be fixed. Great App otherwise.

  23. Hi, I recently installed Photo 1.5.1.54 on Windows 10 and I can't use it successfully with my Wacom Touch 5. I have the latest stable drivers (6.3.20-5). I keep getting exceptions that cause the application to crash. The steps to reproduce are: 1. Open a new document (Web, FHD 1080p preset) 2. Select the Paint Brush Tool 3. Paint a bit with the tablet 4. Select another window outside of Photo 5. Select Photo again 6. Start painting The result is an Unhandled Exception message box with Code: 0x80131516; I've attached a screenshot below. I can trigger a similar exception in Designer by following the same repro steps (albeit using different new document settings and the Pencil tool). In the Designer case, the exception is not handled, so I can bring up a debugger. When I do so, I get the following exception details: System.OverflowException was unhandled Message: An unhandled exception of type 'System.OverflowException' occurred in Serif.Affinity.dll Additional information: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. It appears that it's occurring in the following method: Serif.Affinity.dll!Serif.Affinity.Application.HandlePointerInput I'm not sure if that's helpful or if these exceptions are even related between the two applications, but I thought I'd include these details, just in case. Thanks! Edit: fix typo
  24. Hi. Is there any timescale yet for when the jagged brush stroke issue will be fixed for Wacom cintiq companion users? I first reported this when the beta build was out and I just tried the latest wacom drivers with latest Affinity photo to find the problem still persists. This is not slight wobble from an unsteady hand it is the jagged pixelated jumpy brush stroke that only occurs in affinity photo and photoshop elements for me. All other software works fine with the cintiq companion. Without some kind of brush stabilisation the software is unusable to me as a photoshop replacement for painting and inking. Thanks. previous posts - https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/27924-disappointing-experiences-with-brush-tool/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/27428-jagged-brush/ top affinity, bottom photoshop cc. I reduced spacing as much as possible and reduced hardness. Also when my cursor hovers over an area the strokes appear to vibrate almost like marching ants, hard on the eyes.
  25. Hi Guys Simple question I guess, will a Wacom stylus work with Affinity Photo on the iPad Air 2? I don't use the iPad very much as I am mainly a web designer but I do own one and a Wacom pen and I would like to buy the software but obviously only if it works with the set up I have. If the pen works at even a basic level then thats fine, I just can't see myself masking pictures with my fingers. I can't warrant buying a iPad Pro as I only use it occasionally to test websites and other bits but I'd like to support this software if I can at least have a play with it with what I have. Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers Gary
