  1. Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that I started a YouTube channel that is dedicated to making Affinity Photo tutorials. I have 9 videos posted now, but will definitely be making more. I really love Affinity Photo, and although I'm not a master, I wanted to share the things that I have learned! :) Dispersion Effect Turn any Photo into a Pencil Drawing Giving Photos an Old Look Put a Lake in a Light Bulb Double Exposure Effect Remove Unwanted Objects/People from the Background Set the Earth on Fire Remove/Change the background How to change colors in a photo Let me know what you think of them! And let me know any suggestions you have for future tutorials. Thanks! Ezra
  2. A small clip (video) about the development of a book cover design. Of course, all works were made with Affinity Photo / Designer. Best greetings to Nottingham :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLoYqZOZ3bw
  3. I need help locating a tutorial. I watched a tutorial years ago by someone that I think once worked for Film4. The tutorial demonstrated making a vector mask in Affinity Designer, importing it into Apple Motion for some masked animation (videos in the background of text), then did scoring in Final Cut Pro. I can't find the tutorial, but it was supposed to demonstrate something like the Google Play Your Heart Out advertisements: https://youtu.be/lQIFVT80fbo?list=PLGc5GJ9a7RPXDjs8u1S5Vur_43ef4bwEj It might not have been Film4, but I remember the tutorial used scenes from Monster,Inc. and I think Spiderman. It was simple, yet clean and professional. The scoring went to I think Hudson Mohawks, Chimes; which Apple used for its Stickers commercial. The reason I'm bringing it up here is because I'm pretty sure I clicked on a link in this forum (again, years ago) when I discovered it, and I'm hoping someone also remembers it and can help me out. Here's to hoping...
  4. As a complete newbie to Affinity Photo (and with no PS experience) I would like to know if anyone can point me to a decent vimeo/youtube/whatever video tutorial on how to prepare a photo with CMYK output for silkscreening (with frequency&angles for each channel, +anything on adding single spot colors to a screenprint. There are a few on youtube for Photoshop but I have not been able to find anything comparable for Affinity Photo. Thanks for any help.
  5. Hi there, just wanted to know if a affinity video software is planned? (comparable to adobe premiere)? Thanks Axel
  6. Hey all! I'm trying to get off of Adobe. One of the big things left that I use it for is importing videos of prototypes, putting them in phone/computer skins, and then exporting the new videos for clients/my portfolio. Can you do this in either of the Affinity products? If so, which ones? Thanks!
  7. A friend of mine is making a no-budget Star Wars fan film. He likes to make models of ships and sets but of course there were a few things that required some digital effects. One thing he needed (and he needed it in a hurry!) was an animated "hologram" of the planet Coruscant (a planet completely coved by a giant city). I used Affinity Photo making heavy use of the Pixel Tool and the Mirror Distort (I wish I'd kept better track of the steps, but it was late and I was working fast!). I made three or four different small patterns like the two shown on the left. Then I copy pasted the patterns several times changing their scale and distributing them around the canvas. Next I used the eraser to remove small and large sections of the patterns to make them look different. More layers and shifted copies. Then a layer of just straight lines connecting "hubs". Finaly the pattern was colour adjusted to be bright red (I didn't want to stare a bright red the entire time I was working on it). The pattern was UV mapped onto a sphere in Blender and then animated with a slow 360 degree revolution on a tilted axis. The animation was later composed over the live action shot of Princess Leia, who was filmed with a red light shining on her.
  8. Hello Everyone, I am new to graphics on computers and am looking at getting your program to create graphic artwork for use in my video work in FCPX. I will mostly be building titles in Motion, and publishing them to FCPX. I have a couple of beginner questions, if I may ask them: 1) If I want to be able to animate individual layers in Motion, which format should I export the final project in: PSD, SVG,...? 2) Are there any tips or suggestion for doing this kind of project? Any suggestions and/or guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  9. Does Affinity offer a way to extract a good still frame from a video (*.mov), similar to Photoshop's CC 'Import Video to Layers' or 'Render Video'?
In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create a different „Color Splash Effect. It is a composition with real embedded color splatters. I'm not a paint artist and my intention is to inspire for other, different projects following this procedure. Have fun and post me your results. 11. I wanted to try giving a recent photo a vintage look. I had watched a photoshop tutorial at phlearn.com: phlearn.com/create-vintage-photo-photoshop (you can download the distressed papers from that tutorial). I wanted to try to do something similar with Affinity photo. I thought I would share my process for others: A quick note: —I should have mentioned that all my adjustments are below the gradient map so that the map colors all the adjustments (border, spots & textures, etc). —at about 5:50 in the video I select an irregular brush: you find those irregular brushes by choosing the "Texture" option from the drop-down menu in the brushes palette. Thanks for watching.
Viel Spaß Euer Jack In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create the Pop Art Effect. It was an invention of Andy Warhol who created this with analog techniques like development and print processing, because there was no Photoshop. Today I show how to create this effect with software. There are many variations, like you want. 13. In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create the Disintegration Effect. Also known as Splatter, Sand, Sandstorm, Pixel, Pixelate or Dispersion Effect. The method is the same. Only the kind of dispersion is different. Viel Spaß Jack Pinseleinstellungen (Brush Settings): Dies ist ein original Pinsel aus der Software. 14. In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how to create a light beams and shadows. You can create this in a few simple steps in every photo. With the pen tool, some layers an filters. Have fun, I'm curious to see your projects. Ciao Jack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDeTPbc4F8U
  15. Hi I've found that for me the mesh warp tool in many cases works better for straightening than the other options. Maybe include it if you ever update Two advantages:- you can drag your picture outside the canvas, so you won't have to crop the empty edges afterwards - you don't "break" the lines in buildings, for example here http://www.panoramio.com/photo/121475550
Egal. Also viel Spaß beim Ansehen. Eure Projekte und Fragen dazu könnt Ihr mir gerne posten. Euer CTU Jack Bauer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvwG-eTPBLo
  17. The tutorials for Affinity Photo are excellent. I would love to see a video tutorial on displacement mapping using AP. From everything I've seen on other techniques and methods, AP consistently seems to do things easier and faster (fewer steps) than the PS methods. I hope the AP staff will make a video.
  18. Hi there. Do you play with ideas to make a Movie Software or a 3D Software? To complete the Bunch. Greetz
  19. You can watch my workflow in this speedart video. First do do a sketch and I use it for guidance of my illustration. https://vimeo.com/129035357
  20. This video will show you one solution to adding a text to a path in Affinity Designer. This is a temporary solution that will not work for everyone but might work for your particular situation. Click here to view the video on Youtube Don't forget to Subscribe. :)
  21. In this Affinity Designer tutorial, I will show you how I used Affinity Designer to create look and style of a client logo that will be used in a Motion Graphic animation. Next, I export the image I created in Affinity Designer and Import the images to be Animated in Apple Motion 5. Along the way, I give you insight into my creation and management process. 22. So I was directed to post here from someone at the official Facebook page... So, I went ahead and downloaded and 'unboxed' the program last night and I had a ton of issues with the imported color profiles. When I checked the preferences all of the color profiles look right and it imported it with a sRGB color profile and it looks horrible. Is there a way to fix the color profiles and have the correct one import when I open up a raw file? I think once I get past this issue I'd like to do another video showing the program a little better and test all of the other features. It's just hard to get past the color profiles looking wonky. I've tested them all and they look really bad, even CMYK looks off. Who knows maybe I'm doing something wrong? Obviously people are going to need tutorials once this goes to the full version. I'm in no way an expert in Photoshop, but it's obvious to me that there are issues with the imported settings. A few people are also complaining that it's doing crazy things to the color calibrations on their monitors, as well. The files are from a Canon 5D MkIII Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHjwZakRaJc
