  1. Is noise a vector or raster effect? I would like to create vector images, but will adding noise compromise this?
  2. Hi there, Here is an image i did on Affinity Designer. It's still a work in progress, hope you'll enjoy ! Peace, k
  3. Vector Graphic (Portrait): a wire mesh (wireframe), and also ... a picture ;) http://b-bertuleit.de/cate-the-cat/
  4. Hello. I hope this is the right place to ask this basic question. I'm a photographer, not remotely an illustrator. But need to convert a logo created in Photoshop {sorry, I've bought both your products but haven't learned them yet <g> } to a vector image for silk screening, not something I normally do. Do you have a description of how to do this somewhere that I haven't found or can you give me some guidance? If I did this with Illustrator, I'd first use "Threshold" in Photoshop to turn everything into blacks and whites, then import into Illustrator, select the image, then use Tracing/ High Quality Photo and export as a PNG. It's text plus a photo converted to a silhouette, or will be. What is the process in Affinity design? Should I export the image in JPEG or PSD format? Save out as PNG or other? Thank you in advance. best / jim

  6. So, what’s the different between Smooth & Smart curves? I’ve played around and can’t figure it out.

  8. Hello This is not really a question but an interesting article I found about a new view on vector paths. It might be relevant to the interests of the Affinity developers. https://medium.com/figma-design/introducing-vector-networks-3b877d2b864f#.7ragtzms3
  9. Hi, If I export an artwork as a PDF, does this mean it is also a vector file? If not, how can I save my designs in Affinity as vector files? I want to be able to design anything in Affinity and then import it to another program I use, but this other program only accepts vector files. Whoever answers this is saving my life from eternal frustration. Thanks!
  10. A small drawing i made day ago for fun.
  11. Hello, here is my first achievements Affinity Designer as a crazy fan of vector
  12. Features Wish list: Even though I have only just started using AD, there are so many things to love here. What a great start guys! There are a few things that would speed up my workflow and make drawing more enjoyable for me. Some sort of blob brush would be nice. Rather than a brush with an editable path, a brush that is already expanded into a shape as you draw. I do a lot of sketchy type work and this would be a great addition. I tend to draw with the pencil tool and a fill color. I draw tons of shapes very quickly and I would love a way to quickly close the shape by pressing a keyboard (option or cmmd key?) as I get close to the original starting node. Closing shapes is important to me, but it can take a long time to stop and select the shape then use the close shapes feature. Or maybe you could add the ‘close shapes’ button to the tool bar while the pencil tool is being used? That way one could just click that while the shape is already selected. Or perhaps the shape could just close automatically if you draw over to the original node. An eraser tool that works on both shapes or lines when in vector mode. Sometimes I use the ai eraser tool as a drawing tool. Move Tool: I would like to be able to drag this across several items at once to delete them. Currently I have click each but dragging across would be a quick option and nice to have. Move a specific distance: I make a lots of seamless patterns so being able to mathematically move items would be important for me. That future pasteboard area would become helpful to see things hanging over the edges. I have tried using the transform tool to move items but it’s not quite working for me yet. EPS: Different versions of eps would be helpful. The site I work for only allows version 10 eps so one would still need to open their file in Illustrator etc and re-save to the correct level. I know other sites also have some file restrictions as well. Paste in Front or Back. I guess the current paste does already past in front but having a paste in back would be nice as well. Sorry my list is so long! I'd love to beta test any new builds so i'll try to keep an eye out for them :)
  13. Hi there, there is something strange with "export to PSD", if I export a shape directly drawing in Designer, the shape remains vector shapes in PS, but if I work with a SVG in Designer and export it to PSD, the shape becomes a bitmap in PS. Why? What is wrong? Thank you (OS X 10.11.2 - AD 1.4)
  14. Vector with Affinity Designer, image shows the contours/outlines (pen brushes) and the wireframe. This project was one of the first I've created with Affinity Designer. A good exercise, and there is still much to learn.
  15. I have created an image with the selection brush tool to cut out the background. The image I am left with is heavily pixelated on the edges. How do I eliminate pixelation and sharpen the image so I can make further use of it. Looking forward to your suggestions.
  16. Added a screenshot (Affinity Photo Workspace) in "butterfly wings", tribute to Audrey Hepburn. I love this actress. She was so petite and delicate, but also strong, and she had a lot of power. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite films, and of course I also love the cat (scenes) in the movie;-) http://b-bertuleit.de/butterfly-wing/
  17. donuts have hole in the middle.. I want to know how to group independent closed vectors so that the fill can have see through islands. like the vector combine command in Corel draw.
  18. Hola amigos, les presento mi primer arte en Afinity Designer, hoy es el primir dìa que lo uso espero que me vaya bien. que tengan buena noche.
  19. So I started a personal story project about a year back with characters and backgrounds made in Illy - had a few hours to myself this Sunday evening so started to re-produce the hole series in Affinity.
  20. Messing about with AD....like it
  21. Dear all, I am trying to create a simple vector shape logo, however when I use the divide boolean tool to erase certain parts of shapes I get a very thin white space between the divided shapes. I am probably doing this wrong, however would like to know if there is a way of dividing or erasing certain parts of shapes places on each other without this space as it is not as crisp as i would like. I have attached a photo to show what I mean. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :-)
  22. Hello everyone, after a long time I am posting more material, this time a Imac and keyboard, I did, in Affinity designer I hope you enjoy
  23. I downloaded the free trial of Affinity Designer to see if it could be a replacement for AI. For my workflow is missing the tool to create a vector graphic from a picture file like in AI where I push the button RECALCULATE IMAGE and EXPAND to get a vector graphic out of a .png file, if I get this option then I will definitely do the switch to Affinity Designer
