  1. I was in need of lines with dots and triangles for a project. I started creating a few lines and then I encountered a whole bunch of problems with repeating patterns in the Texture Intensity Brushes in the Designer Persona. My triangles got squished, my squares became rectangles and I went into full pitbull mode and did not sleep until I understood what went wrong. These are my work arounds if you’re struggling with squished or otherwise deformed repeating patterns: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/101575-textured-intensity-brushes-and-body-repeat/&tab=comments#comment-545
  2. There are several different brush types in Affinity, and unlike I am missing something obvious, it appears to me that the raster brushes used in Affinity Photo can only be used with brush tools. It would be fantastic to be able to apply these non-destructively to vector paths. Essentially like a non-destructive version of Photoshops "Stroke Path" feature. This is something that for instance Macromedia Fireworks and Discreet Combustion were always able to do, but for some reason it was never added to Photoshop. Possibly, the applications could also support adding multiple brushes (or s
  3. Hello guys! I have a question: how can I make a vector brush that draws a given shame over and over again? I’m making technical clothing drawings and it would be so nice not to draw zigzag stitches one by one. I know there are such brushes in AI but since they can’t be imported I wonder if I can make them myself in affinity for iPad. this is the shape and I want to make things like this: @ProDesigner sorry to bother you but maybe you can help me again ( by the way, I can by pass the paddle thing If you make a 3 points vertical line ) thank
  4. Hi, I don’t know if this is a bug, but when I tried importing vector brushes, it doesn’t load. I’ve uploaded a screen record. Pixel brush are ok. But vector brush doesn’t import (load). I’m using iPad Pro 11” 2018 with the latest OS and Affinity Designer 1.9 IMG_1204.MP4
  5. Vector Paint Brushes and Painting Test Created a new set of vector Brushes to supplement Render II and Linear II Experimenting with a new set of 'Vector Texture Brushes'...and a bit of fun! Again using a repeating process of painting with the vectors ..then raster the grouped results [repeat]... Painting Experiment as below!
  6. hello, I want to create vector brushes for Designer, at the moment I already was successful with black and grey shape on transparent background with the PNG-file-format. If I use the brush which is made from the black pixel shape it keeps black even if I give the stroke a colour, the grey ones show some colour but not the full saturation. I checked the exsisting standard brushes and saw the image ist white, but if I use a white shape on transparent background, the brush stroke keeps white. What kind of image is needed to create a vector brush to get a brush stroke with the colour which is
  7. Please add the ability to add pure vector based vector brushes based on vector objects for texture instead of PNGs. For now we can only add pixel based vector brushes. Being able to add pure vector brushes based on vector objects would allow us to create vector based textures and designs, which would be much easier to handle for any kind of (print) production. For example I tried to separate the colours to a spot colour PDF for screen print from this awesome work by Pierre Kleinhouse made for the Affinity Work from home series https://youtu.be/lL6gc8Oi2uw .afdesign file on Drop

  9. I'm really hoping Affinity updates to allow true 100% vector brushes to be more editable and relevant in future releases. What are currently labeled "vector brushes" are not 100% vector and cannot be expanded as vectors. They have their uses and I appreciate them - but in my line of work, I need to be able to export 100% vector - no raster in the final output. Right now we can only modify the 100% vector brush to a simple taper on each end - As I have attached to this post, there are many other types of tapers and such I'd love to be able to do with a 100% vector brush. Going a little furt
  10. I have created 2 sets of vector brushes. The first set is free with over 200+ repeating pattern brushes included. The second set is 500+ vector brushes for Affinity Designer. This set is comprised of all the brushes I have made that ended up being of some use. It is split between 13 sets. I plan to add on to these. There is a wide range of brushes here & while I am obviously biased I do feel it is an amazing deal when compared to many other sets I see for sale. Both sets can be found here: https://gumroad.com/badoia Let me know if you have any
  11. Hello Affinity Team, I am missing two special brush types in AD among the vector brushes, which I have used very often in Illustrator. I miss the possibility to create calegraphy brushes. Maybe you could add these additional settings to the even brush tips (angles and roundness). Then I'm missing a special brush that gives me the possibility to create created graphics into real vector brushes with additional setting options. For the already existing vector brushes, which are more like bitmap brushes, where a bitmap is connected to a vector line, I am missing some additional
  12. In Affinity Designer, under the vector persona, on a vector layer, using the vector brush I have the option of using some pencil brushes. Are these truly vector? I draw a line, the line itself is editable but is it truly generating vector texture or applying raster texture to my vector line work? IF say, I want to create hand lettered logos in vector with a realistic pencil texture is this the way to go or will that texture actually be unscalable raster? I’ve tried selecting drawn lines and “creating curve” and “expanding stroke” but either way, it just looks like the texture is not converting
  13. Hello! I was looking forward to creating cartoons with a vector ink brush in Affinity Designer, but the default brushes don't have the look that i'm after. I want a brush with a very fine tip. Even though I can edit the default brushes, I can't seem to get it fine enough. Does anyone know where I can find free vector brushes for drawing cartoons/manga?
  14. Hi i have an issue with vector brushes in designer. For some reason it defaults to a basic round brush no matter which brush I choose. I restarted and this worked for five vector strokes. I changed layer then it happened again. I have attached video showing this issue. I have iPad Pro 9.7 2016 model running iOS 13.3.1 and Affinity Designer 1.8.0 it seems to be document specific. Ive tried others and the vector brushes work fine but this is annoying as it looks like I’m going to have to delete document and start again. IMG_0350.MOV
  15. Hello, This is my first post however I have been reading all the questions and getting great info on this forum. The one thing I am having trouble finding is more vector brushes specifically a few dry brush strokes. I’ve watched a couple tutorial on how to make brushes but am having trouble making a good dry brush stroke. My question is does anyone know where I can find some or does anyone have a couple to share. Thanks for any help or direction you can give.

  17. Hi! very happy to say that this week we've achieved 5k of subs on my youtube, thanks for everyone for keep up, I love to do my things on affinity designer, it's very friendly and inspiring! now in this one I did a Donut using Affinity Designer on ipad pro. enjoy! Best tips - Techniques 0:55 use the Erase layer mode to "Subtract" a shape behind, remember to keep the objects at the same group! 2:27 you can build shapes by drawing vector shapes - then you Expand Strokes at top menu 3:55 use pencil tool and sculpt the lines as you wish 4:02 you can a
  18. Hi guys. I purchased this vector brush pack from the Affinity Store a day or two ago and just now had the chance to play around with it -- and I'm a little confused. When I zoom in on a brush stroke, or when the stroke size is too large, it looks blurry, as if it was a raster brush. Am I doing something wrong here? Are these not vector brushes?
  19. Hello! I am seeing a freeze or two testing without the brush defaults or rope stabilizer turned off, but I seem to always get a freeze or crash when those are turned on - screenshots of UI artifact on freeze attached. This is happening on a 2400 x 2400 pixel document. I didn’t notice freezes at all in previous releases. I was also creating documents at a much smaller size. Perhaps this has something to do with the dimensions/size of the file, with so many vector brush strokes? Mark

  21. The First in a series of Affinity Add-Ons specifically for Designers! This is the Rose Petal Texture set with multicoloured almost translucent colours taken from photos of REAL Roses. There are NO fillers or files to pad out the kit. Just the tools you, as a Designer needs. You can then get on with your artistic skills and make your designs illuminate with these textures. There are just THREE (3) program add-ons:- Rose Petal Texture Styles - for Both Designer & Photo Rose Petal colours Palette - for Both Designer & Photo Rose Petal Vector Brushes - for
  22. Between Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo I have a lot of brushes to manage. Accordingly, help with or info about any of the following would be appreciated: 1. Is there a list somewhere of the default brush categories for each app, ideally with the names of (or at least count of) each brush in each category? 2. Are the same-named default AD raster brush categories identical to the same-named AP brush categories? 3. To date, are the default brush categories of the Mac retail & beta versions the same for each pair of apps? 4. Is there any way to tell if an .af
  23. found a photo i like (must i post it ?), worked over it.
  24. Hi, I have been excited about Affinity Designer for a while, however I still haven’t made the complete jump from Illustrator as, in the past Affinity lacked features which I use daily in my workflow, hence it just hasn’t been practical to make the jump. Do I want to jump, hell yeah, I think Adobe take the p**s with the amount they charge. So due the work I do, I am looking for the AD equivalent of the following, if there is one? Object / Transform / Move, Rotate, Scale and so forth is a god send. Blend tool, again this is a must for concentric shapes. Vector brushes? I create a lot of c
  25. I've just stumbled across this website, that offers brushes for vector and raster personas. They are free to use if you give the site credit/provide a direct link. The commercial license seems very affordable. . http://www.obsidiandawn.com
