  1. Hello, Hope you are doing well and staying safe. This is my first ever vector brush. Hope you like the brush that I have created. Download here
  2. Hello! I had this problem at least twice now, and want to report it. When using the brush repeatedly, while having pen pressure on, affinity designer freezes and crashes, after a few quick brush strokes. I tried it without the pen pressure and it works fine without it, i think. Only setting I have changes i that I disabled Windows Ink inside of Affinity Designer and on my tablet. I don't have any issues with pen pressure on Affinity Photo, so I personally think the vector brush tool in Affinity Designer with pressure sensitivity ON is just bugged. Hope you can reproduce
  3. Project Brush Set 03 Big-T Used to create Big-T Updated the brush set to version 2 Should work much better now! Changes/improvements as below Version 2.0 1. Removed old versions redundant now.. 2. Made significant changes to the brush dynamics and nozzles. All nozzles are now vector based replacing previous raster versions (as much as possible) 3. There is a significant number of new nozzles for the brushes Which means they are not like original sets.. 4. Made use of the 1.7/1.8.2 brush engine in AD/AP using subBrushes. 5. The old brush set was appearing darker and les
  4. Hello, I am new to Affinity (switched from Adobe). Currently I am having issues with vector brush tool in Designer. Is there an option to somehow get rid of this weird looking lines (dots)? This does not happen when i try longer lines a draw them quicker, but when i want to be more precise it is quite annoying. I am using wacom tablet (CTL-671) with up to date driver and working on windows 10. I tried different tablet settings and still not happy with the result. Not sure if this is a bug or just an imperfection of software. If its the software problem, I think some "auto-smooth" of this
  5. Hey, I've just uploaded a load of resources for clothing illustration and design to help the community. As a clothing designer and developer, I am on a mission to let product designers know how good Affinity is for design and development! Included are... 15 Stitch brushes 17 Zipper brushes 133 fabric creases (clear png textures) 10 zipper slider vectors and 5 stopper vectors 6 button vectors All are customisable and can be found at mrtechpack.com I'll continue to make more useful resources whenever I can. Enjoy!
  6. I am using a wacom tablet to draw in Affinity Designer and any time I use the VECTOR BRUSH TOOL and select a Brush Texture (like pencil or acrylic), the Vector Brush Tool is forever stuck on Textures. I cannot get it to return to the default Vector lines without closing the program and re-opening it and it's becoming rather irritating. Can we get this fixed down the line?
  7. Hi Working with the vector brush in designer, I noticed an interesting setting! The brush changes color according to the fill and stroke. I even like it, I change with x on the keyboard (like in photoshop) and I have the other color. The interesting thing is that when I change to none - I have black! Even when selected, the swatch indicates none but displays shows black! This may be an interesting attempt to avoid unpainted lines, but when checked, the program should show the correct line color values. Affinity Designer 2021-02-20 17-49-48_Trim.mp4
  8. Hi. Please, is it possible to use and make your own vector brushes. What i need is to take a simple vector object and stretch it across a curve. Is it possible in the Designer? Since I couldn't find a solution, I'm affraid it's not possible. Thank you.
  9. Hi In the project on a light yellow background, I used a vector brush in gray 70%. It was a global color with an overprint option! After exporting to PDF, the overprint works except where it was made with a vector brush I understand that such brushstrokes will be pixels, but the overprint option could remain. There is also no other place in the program (e.g. in the appearance palette) where an object can be overprinted!
  10. Can Affinity Designer create an Art Brush, as in Illustrator? Create a vector object and make it an ART brush that can then be applied to a stroke, while remaining a vector, and then Expanded back into the individual vector shapes for further modifications of those shapes. Attached jpeg is the sample I'm working on. The top image was created in Designer, which I copied into Illustrator and made it an Art Brush. I then applied that brush to the curved strokes below. Everything I've read about making brushes in Designer says that you need to make your art a png. This means it is no longer vector
  11. I downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer & tried customizing a brush but didnt work. I tried creating a new brush & customizing it, didnt work too. I tried closing the software and reopen it, didnt work as well. What to do now?!! ps: I tried customizing existed brushed and did !
  12. I have been annoyed by this is the past, and I hoped this would be addressed in the new version: Every time after I have drawn a stroke with the brush or pixel or vector brush tool, a circle indicating the brush size pops up in the middle of the screen. This is extremely annoying and unneccesary. It distrubs the flow of drawing in the app to such a degree that I tend to avoid it altogether. Why can't we get rid of this, as it has no function whatsoever?
  13. Project Brush Set 04 Ammonite Used to create Ammonite Hotel Updated the brush set to version 2...I can draw some more Ammonites now! 5. 14. While using vector brushes in Affinity Designer, if I change brushes, I change the brush size as well. I understand that every brush may have been set up with an ideal size by its creator. I even understand that saving the last brush size used for every single brush in the palette may get cumbersome memory wise. I just find it a bit obstructive that if I use Vector Brush A at a size of 9pt, I change to Vector Brush B for a second, just out of curiosity or by accident(!), I select Vector Brush A again, and its size has defaulted to 2.3pt, or some other random number that isn’t where I left it.
  15. When resizing any vector brush with click + Alt Gr the brush disappears. The issue doesn't happen in Pixel Persona nor Affinity Photo.
  16. Hello, quick question. After I draw a line and apply a raster brush style to it, how do I change it back to a vector brush? Is there a way to do that? Thank you!
  17. Working on series of brush sets based on Inktober 2018.(here) Project Brush inkBrush Vector -Render Built for flat inking and to extend inkBrush Vector - Paint Consists of 30 Vector Brushes: Flat colour painting for use with Blend mode/s:Average AND/OR Controller:Pressure OR Opacity settings OR Solid and tint colour values Mixing with opacity Layering with average Sample PDF as attached Zip file with 30 vector brushes ProjectBrush - Document_Vector_Render_01.pdf inkBrush - Vector - Render.zip
  18. When using the vector brush and trying to adjust the pressure curve the stroke doesn't respond. I had the same issue earlier when using Affinity Designer on my iPad. Only after reassigning the brush to the stroke through the Brushes panel was I able to edit the pressure curve. Please see the attached video for example. Edit: I forgot to add that the brush was unresponsive to pressure applied while drawing the stroke with a pen tablet. brush-pressure.mov
  19. I saw many users are requesting a feature to make drawing on a single layer with vector brush possible. I know many vector graphics app have behavior that separate each stroke to individual layer but I too think it would be useful. So would be nice if you could add an option to change brush behavior.
  20. Hi all! I've moved to Affinity Designer recently and still have problems with some tools. In this video I use Figma to show the result I am expecting. I drew 3 lines, merged them and filled with a color. In the end I can control stroke and filling of the shape. Figma video In the next video I use Affinity for drawing with a vector brush. Since lines are ready, I chose Pen Tool and pressed Join curves, but lines didn't merged. The result aren't clear form me. Why only side points have connected? Luckily I found Merge function in Layer / Geometry menu. This function is the only, w
  21. Affinity Designer for iPad is crashing constantly when I use the vector brush. This only happens when I set the brush to 'Pressure' in the controller. I can use the pencil tool without the controller set to 'None' and have no problems. When using the vector brush with the 'Pressure' setting, it works for a minute or so, then the app freezes, crashes and my work is unsaved. I'm working on the latest version of Affinity Designer for iPad and on first gen iPad Pro with 256GB Storage (35GB free).
  22. Hi, I more or less understand how you can create a new bitmap-based "vector brush". But I need my output to be pure vector (no rasterisation) and I'm wondering if something like in the image attached could be created as a custom vector stroke brush? It's simply two lines with crossed lines in the middle. Is there any way to create a brush like this that could be: 1) Applied to a stroke; 2) Pure vector (no bitmap or rasterisation on export). Thanks in advance!
  23. I've just swapped over from Procreate to Affinity due to Procreate not being vector based. I initially started designing a logo in Procreate until realising I needed to swap, but I'm unable to bring my brush with me. I've searched for days for a similar brush and cannot find anything! Any help would be massively helpful otherwise I'll have to start the logo again and re-jig the style I've attached 2 screenshots to show the brush. Thanks!
  24. Remember Macromedia (!) Fireworks? I loved Fireworks! I even keep an old copy alive on my old Mac Pro. It crashes every few minutes, but for me the user experience of working in an application that really makes sense to me, even when I'm away from it for a few months, makes up for all the crashes and for the the annoying homebrew definition by which Fireworks hides vector stuff in a PNG. In the last 10 years I've repeatedly tried to get used to Photoshop and Illustrator. Since I'm not doing design on a day to day basis, I kept on loosing too much time maintaining the software, getting puzzled
  25. Hey lovely designers. I've released a new video showing my process making the Joker! I hope you will like it! cheers! Jhon
