  1. Dear Affinity Developer Team, Affinity is really a great Software. I would like to do a Layout in Myanmar Language but the text is not displayed correctly. Am I missing something or is it not supported? Best regards, Hippolyta
  2. Hi, I currently use InDesign to work with complex Tibetan language documents. InDesign handles these unicode languages (formed of stacks of letters, like so: རྟུ) via their 'World-Ready Paragraph or Line editor facility. Is there a way facility for typesetting these kind of languages in Publisher? When I try I get collapses on certain characters. I haven't yet found a unicode character palette. Cheers, Paul
  3. A really useful feature that would be a boon in a desktop publishing app it the ability to link document files from word processing applications to text frames in the publishing app. This may be a difficult thing to implement due to the many formats out there but certain word processing applications could be supported, as could text file editors. Also supporting RTF and TXT formats would be quite helpful. The Open Document format would be one to support, also Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Corel WordPerfect. Then we could edit the text in the word processing package of our choice and save it. When we load Affinty Publisher our document could then go about linking and loading each of the files from the save text files. A sort of text version of the way images can be linked. It would be an interesting feature to implement which could increase the DTP packages versatility no-end. Maybe after adding a story editor into Publisher we could link the files there aa well.
  4. Hello, I just downloaded the full suite of Affinity software on my Mac today after reading all the reviews, and I really like what I see. There is a major problem however, which I encountered in Photoshop before, and now Affinity as well - and that is the support for proper unicode typing in Burmese and other sino-tibetan languages. As it stands right now, Photoshop and Affinity both are displaying Myanmar (Burmese) language in a literal progression, instead of how unicode is supposed to be displayed. I don't know if I can explain this very well for non burmese speakers, but I will try: For example: If I want to write the word "cat" (Jaung) in Burmese, I need to write it according to unicode typing standard, which would be ကြောင် (က+ြ+ေ+ာ+င+်). However, Affinity will not display that correctly. So if I want to type it in affinity, I have to type ေြကာင် (ေ+ြ+က+ာ+င+်), which is completely senseless, and doesn't meet the new unicode standard, making Affinity completely unusable for a number of languages that I speak and design in. You might be wondering, "well, why not just change the order you type in?" Glad you asked. Why? Well, because it's not that simple. Beings that Burmese unicode is dynamic (certain characters change size or shift right, left, up, or down automatically depending on proper typed order, which as I just tested it, due to Affinity not supporting the proper typing order, makes the text unreadable as it is not shifting properly due to that incorrect typing order) it requires all software to fully support the Unicode table and typing order. I have yet to test some other languages that I daily use, but I'm afraid it will be the same problem. So is there some way to fix this? Or am I out in the cold having spent $120 on software I can't use for 90% of my projects? Would you guys be able to update it and make it work properly for non English languages? Just to clarify, in case you can not see the above characters rendered properly on your device, this is the unicode order for the word "cat" in Burmese (Jaung) as it should be typed: U+1000U+103CU+1031U+102CU+1004U+103A The above however does not display properly in Affinity. To display semi-properly I have to use the below order, which is incorrect and still has a a major error: U+1031U+103CU+1000U+102CU+1004U+103A The above is not entirely correct, as ြ (Ya Pínt) displays only half the width of က (Ka gyi) when it should display the full width. This is a serious issue, as it makes this software completely unusable for 80+ million people. So please do fix this asap so this app can be used properly. If there is some way I can contribute to the devs any linguistic info I'm also happy to do that if needed, but this needs to be fixed quick. I am attaching a screenshot below which will hopefully help clear up my poor explanation. Looking forward to a solution.
  5. Hi, Indic Unicode (Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu etc...) not supporting in Affinity Publisher, Designer and Photo. Do you have any solution for this issues? Scribus is supporting now.
  6. Hi everyone, I just bought Affinity photo on the iPad Pro and I was trying to insert an Arabic Unicode symbol to add it to a picture but instead of pasting it, a missing icon is shown. I don’t understand why Affinity photo don’t support that while others app on iOs like Procreate, Pixelmator or photoshop do...Can someone help me ? thank you.
  7. Dear developers, I found a problem in find and replace window: hungarian characters see as unicode format, not as text. See my screenshot. I think will be a good solution if turn on or off unicode view in find and replace results window, because maybe need this character encoded version in future, but when I see normal character as encoded, then is no correct, I think.
  8. Hello, Previously I bought Serif Page Plus X9. This a great program as long as you use latin alphabet based font. However, in my work I need to use CTL fonts, especially Khmer (Cambodian) Unicode Fonts and it is not to possible to write any words with Page Plus X9. Now I try Affinity Publisher and it is not possible to make any documents with CTL Unicode Fonts too. Is there any possibility to fix this problem in another version of the program?
  9. I was really enthusiastic to try Affinity Publisher, watched the tutorials, and then dove right in. I found it extremely well polished for a beta, as well as super intuitive. But then, bam. No support whatsoever for Japanese text input! All Japanese text shows as square placeholders. I understand this is a beta, but even beta programs should be able to support multiple language input. As I translate/publish in both English/Japanese this is a real deal breaker for me. Hopefully Japanese text input will be available soon, as I'd very much like to give this another go.
  10. How to I insert unicode character U+1F463 I'm not having any luck in either Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer
  11. Hello, I try to type some text in Hindi in Unicode (Google Fonts) but it's not typed correctly but when I copy the same text to other software it shows correctly the same thing also happens with Arabic although I don't know Arabic one of my clients ask to just copy and paste a text in my document he also complains that text is changed, is I am missing something or you don't support it common Affinity Guys you developed an awesome software but now you are not improving it in last 3 years no major updates avaiable and you even didn't complete half of the Roadmap features you posted 2014, we doing 90% of our work on Affinity Designer and Photo Now but because of some very small features we need to return to Photoshop and Illustrator.
  12. Please add support for rtl languages. you are showing it right in the layers panel, but in the Text Tool it's wrong. see the attachment.
