  1. Hi, used "Separated Mode" for a bit, but I found it difficult to get gridlines on a design so I switched it back off. However, "Merge all windows" doesn't appear to do anything when I'm in "Separated Mode" - what is it supposed to do? Using Affinity Designer 1.6.1 on Mojave 10.14.1
  2. The ability to dock panels, toolbars, and the main window toolbar, in Separated Mode just like in the Mac version of Adobe products, Macromedia FreeHand, or older versions of Microsoft Office, would allow for much neater workspace organization. It would also make everything cleaner when placing panels on secondary monitors in Non-Separated Mode. A setting to have these screen-edge docks collapsed and only open up when moving the mouse to the screen edge (just like the OS X Dock with "Hide Dock" activated or the menu/toolbar sliding in on regular OS X applications like Safari in full screen mode) would further improve usability on small screens such as smaller laptops. The ability to arrange documents next to each other in all modes would be very useful. The nicest implementation of this is probably in Microsoft Visual Studio, where it is very easy to arrange documents in a variety of different ways just by dragging the tabs. Adobe products can sort-of do this, but not when using floating windows because it cannot dock two views in one window, it only works when activating their Application Frame. Currently, Affinity Photo has a very useful option "View > New View" that opens up a new document tab for the same document, but this is utterly useless in non-separated mode since there is no way to actually put the two views next to each other to work on detail while looking at the whole document. In separated mode, it would be useful to be able to split the tool options from the main window toolbar so one doesn't have to drag the bulky main window toolbar around with it In separated mode, currently the status bar completely disappears, and in non-separated mode on the other hand, there seems to be no way to hide it The Character/Paragraph buttons in the text tool options bar only show these panels, but they don't open them if they are collapsed. Chances are that a user wants to actually use them, so un-collapsing them would make sense. It might also be confusing if these are already on the screen in collapsed state since it will then appear to the user as if nothing happens when they press the button.
  3. I haven't this been suggested before. I think it would be pretty useful to have pie menus for quick tool switching. I haven't seen this in image editors, but I think it's pretty common for 3d modeling: In this app, for example, you can customize them to have multiple levels, you can have quick color selections, etc. I think it allows for very a very quick access to common options.
  4. (*Also see this issue in Designer Beta.) Looks ragged in both Color Studio and context pop-overs as shown. Changes under Preferences > Performance > Display have no affect. 2013 iMac -- non-retina, Mojave 10.14.1
  5. Hi there I love this app (Designer) so much I hardly use Illustrator anymore. AD is so intuitive and powerful. Thank you for that. My number one feature request is the ability to use Adobe's shortcuts. AD is here very uncommon while other apps - up to MS Word! - use the same basic keyboards, such as SHIFT+ ENTER for a new textline without making a new paragraph (this shortcut works even in CMS-Texteditors such as TinyMCE or Redactor or CKEditor). Could we talk of an "industry standard", here? Yes, I think so, this goes far beyond Adobe.) There is also a confusion about when using SHIFT to proportionally scale something and when not. ALT (Option) has been the standard for scaling from the center ever since. ... So my pledge: Please either change them to the well known standards, not only used by Adobe make keyboard shortcut prefs that can be changed thoughout and saved integrate a preference for that in which one can choose "Adobe" as possible Shortcut set. Thank you very much - this would be insanely great. Alex
  6. I noticed a bug in the appearance of the navigator palette. I'm viewing this on a non-retina-display. the zoom-percentage (186%) is slightly blurred, while for the swatches pallette, the opacity percentage (100%) is sharp(er) Although I know, text has to be a little bit antialiased, but this seams to be a bug.
  8. Hello. I don't speak English very well, so I will try to show everything with examples. P.S. I love this application.
  9. So to use dynamic zoom you have to hit spacebar then ctrl. Is there a way to swap this or allow it to do both? I'm so used to hitting ctrl + spacebar. With my mindset being: start from the outside of the keyboard and working my way inward while hitting hotkeys. Thanks!
  10. I have the bug in publisher where I have two tool windows next to eachother, the character panel docking to the left, then for instance the glyph browser next to it. However, this causes problems when picking fonts, as the fonts dropdown menu goes behind the glyph browser window. see screenshot.
  11. Hi, I'm often using Affinity to draw with a pen on my windows laptop and the most frustrating part is undoing strokes. When using the laptop as a tablet, the keyboard is folded away and I can't press Ctrl+Z. While I've read that there's no touch based interface planned, I would love to be able to add shortcuts to some basic actions like undo/redo to the toolbar like this for example: Actions I would use in the toolbar would be: Undo/Redo Changing selection mode (add to selection, remove from selection, new selection) for objects on the canvas and for layers Grouping selected Layers
  12. Right hand is always holding the pencil, and left hand is free. It will be much more convenient if the undo button is on the left side.
  13. I noticed two minor things today: 1) When detatching a symbol, the corresponding objects in the layers palette still have the orange bar that denotes a symbol 2) Highlighting two characters (asterisk and closing bracket) and clicking on the Superscript button didn't do anything to the characters. They just stayed as they were.
  14. It would be awesome for all UI designers that we could import Sketch App file format into Affinity Designer, would not it? Is there any chance to see this feature request landing in the foreseeable future, what do you think about it?
  15. The bleed options in Document Setup are given as… Inner, Outer, Right, and Bottom Surely Right should be Top?! UPDATE… Bug is worse than just the labels. The fields are misassigned. Outer is actually the Top. Right is the Outer. Inner doesn't seem to do anything?! Bottom is Bottom <- Hooray!
  16. Hello again, I have few other questions: • Is it possible to choose another color for highlights? There is already quite much blue and I'de rather had them in a warmer easier way to see the highlghts immediately. • How can one fix a hard space (to avoid having a ":" at a sentence beginning)? • When searching a glyphs (":" in my case), they appear all in a list, but won't be highlighted all at once. • When clicking on a found element in the list, the highlight happens only if I select the "A" icon in the UI. It turns back to "A-frame" each time I click on the next searching line. With few dozen of the identical glyphe to be checked, it soon gets heavy. RECTIFICATION: In the meanwhile, Publisher quitted, and something changes when reopened. I went on with correcting the none hard spaced ":" and notice that, with "A-frame" icon on, a grey highlight appears now with search line selected.
  17. The panel contents are clipped and don't extend all the way down. Resizing the panel only increases the gap between panel content and panel edge. Edit: And you get a light show of selections when you hold the left mouse button down up/down arrows next to the value fields.
  18. The UI for changing the text styles in the main window is robust and of high quality. It would be useful if it were easier to redefine existing text styles, or create new ones based on the customised text we already have established via overrides. The current version, where you have to create new text styles manually via the text menu is a little awkward.
  19. I use separated mode and as someone told me in the Affinity Designer-Forum, this mode is officially considered broken. This needs to be addressed, as it should be an "easy" thing to repair. Yeah I really mean this. First: as I found out in Designer, the transform palette (even in publisher) has the wrong order when "tabbing" through them to key in your values – it should be: x > y > width > height, not x > width > y > height. Second: the CMYK-palette goes completely bananas: I type in my cyan-value, press tab and the magenta-field is highlighted but as I type a number this keypress is recognized by other parts of the program.. then when I tab again i invoke "Toggle-UI" which is set to TAB (as it works in Indesign well enough without these issues...)

    UI loading very slow

Great product, first of all! 1. On my computer, every time I start up APub it takes about 30 secs to load the UI. 2. More annoying: Opening the "Character", "Paragraph" or "Text Styles" tab for the first time takes up to 10 secs, each. I have about 350 installed fonts. My Specs: Affinity Publisher 1.7.0.57 WIN 10 Home, 64-bit i5-7300HQ 16 GB RAM GTX 1050ti 4GB WIN, Fonts and APub installed on SSD
  21. I love Publisher so far - it only crashed on the very first time I opened it, after 2 seconds (hitting command-F) But the UI needs more love: In Separated Mode, when exporting documents, the toolbar hides the export-sheet -> which should be a free floating dialog box instead of a modal sheet. And it goes up in the popup-charts if you select MORE and then save presets... see screenshots. Thats a mess!
  22. When layouting, for example, white text on dark grey background the text cursor (not the mouse i-beam)is nearly invisible at the most left edge of the text frame. In Indesign it was not ideal either, but at least they offset it by 1 pixel in so the frame-edge gets double width. Also: the selection colour is just an simple overlay-color instead of inverting the selection, as was standard for over twenty years of dtp-software... I'm sure today there are more advanced blending modes possible to highlight an area.
  23. Ok, so one of the paramount useful features of Sketch is layout grids. Being able to define a layout grid with columns and gutters without resorting to a mess with guides is great. I believe the Affinity could improve greatly on the Sketch grid, so here is my proposition for the improved layout grid and thoughts on how it could interact with the constraints feature that really needs to be fleshed out as well. First of all Affinity Layout Grid Create Movable grids with columns and gutters Grids should be resizable but should keep their ratios Support for breakpoints in grid definition, eg. the same grid should switch to mobile view if resized smaller. Padding around the grid should be separated from gutter values. Support snapping Support nameable size ranges (breakpoints) (eg. define XL as a range, L as a range etc.) Affinity Improved Constraints Support fixed distance padding eg. 20px manually entered Constrain to columns from the layout grid Support and remember breakpoints when constraining to layout grid Toggle visibility based on layout grid range Reflow text options Support minimum flex, (eg. resize with this untill this unit is 100px wide) support Div flowing, when resized smaller than minimum flex, reflow other objects as divs would. Support different symbols based on layout grid range, toggle to replace an area with another symbol when going down to small views I'd love to see any number of these features implemented, with things like this we could actually create responsive flexible layouts that would be able to be resized instead of creating multiple views for each page.
  24. Finally we got it what we've been waiting for.. Thank you Affinity. On the first start I found some visually issues. Like the UI font's are too pixelated in windows 10. I've used both AP and AD on mac, but downloaded this Publisher on Windows as trial. please check the screenshot I attached, the left is Photoshop and on the right Publisher. I didn't check any performance or functional thing. this was the first thing I found apparently.
  25. I’d love to see better consistency within the Affinity apps. Small things like the order of buttons make a real difference. Almost everwhere, the cancel button is first and then the confirm button is on the right. Unless you press Save A Copy. (See buttons) on iPad I so quickly skip around the interface because it is so intuitive, but a small change like this can throw me. Seems small, but makes a big difference. My other UI gripe is some buttons are either in strange places or don’t make sense. 1. Why do I have to close a document to save it it place? I only have save a copy when the document is open. I’d like to be able to quickly save. (I’ve had documents crash before and I’ve lost the data because I didn’t hit save ever. Kinda my fault, but I think this could help) 2. Why can I lock and hide layers in two places? This is not a bad thing but feels confusing. Means I forget where certain settings are and doesn’t help set a precedent for where I should find certain types of settings. 3. Why is rasterise not in the generic layer menu? (And can the layer menu not auto hide after rasterising? Or should I pin it to stop this behaviour?) 4. When resizing the canvas, can we have the nice transform square from the transform menu rather than the text-based popout? I know my right from left, but that square is so much easier to understand and edit Note: the first four pictures are related to the cancel/action button order These small gripes make me sound incompetent but I’m not! Haha. I say these because I love the apps and want them to be better.
