So, I was browsing the Iphone App Store and came across this beautiful Dieter Rams inspired app called WTHR By David EIgena. I wanted see if I could recreate one of the screen entirely with Affinity Designer. Part of the reason I am doing this, is to see how I can utilize Affinity in different situations and workflows. Of course I don't have time to design an entire app for in a few hours but I can recreate the look for study purposes.Doing this sort of thing shows me where Affinity Designer is strongest. Working in different workflows also gives me a better understanding of how this application can replace other tools in my arsenal. After completing this exercise, the only thing I would wish is the ability to add multiple artboards in one file. Everything was created with Affinity with the exception of the IPhone Image which you can download here: http://www.teehanlax.com/tools/iphone/ Credit to Andrew Vega for supplying the iphone link resource in his Affinity training video

Hi, it is critical in UI design that you can control how lines are drawn in shape to not overlap the size of your control. Right now, the application is always centered and doesn't offer any controls over it. It involve far too much manual steps to deal with it (basically resizing the shapes to a smaller size to fit inside the target size). I know there is a stroke options in the Fx that allows you to do that but it doesn't do the job. Stroke only works if you already are drawing a line. If you remove the line or draw a line of 0px, Stroke doesn't work anymore. And it would be a workaround anyway. It get worst when you have to tweak your design by changing line width. You have to manually resize every shapes to fit in the target size every time. I didn't find this feature requested anywhere and/or in the roadmap. Hope I am wrong and it's already planed. But this is a huge deal for any serious UI designer !

Hello, Another idea that came to my mind would be to be able to have a custom shapes / object library. I know that linked file is coming, so it will partially solve the problem. What could be really cool and make the difference is to have a shelf where you can put your UI element so you just have to drag and drop to duplicate and use them. Then having an option to unlink the object in case you need to do heavy changes that you don't want to apply everywhere.

Hello, I know you can simulate partial stroke with the "pressure" feature, but I was wondering if you could add a specific feature for it directly into shapes / path. Like in UI design, very often you have like a square shape with only one side stroke. For now you have either to use this pressure sensitivity to do it manually or draw a specific line. It could be a life saver if you just had like a box where you can select sides you want to stroke. More generally (or even better), seeing a line or live shape where you can pick any line between two vertex to stroke there only. :)
