  1. I would like to hold a key down with a selected object and be able to rotate and size using the trackpad gestures. Need to get away from using this handlebar nonsense! Another great feature would be to use Force Touch to set a pivot/transform point in relation to the object. For example, I often want to rotate an element with the pivot point in on the side, not the center. Supporting holding down a keyboard button to constrain to preset amounts (e.g. 45º for rotation, 10px for transform) should still work too.
  2. I noticed that the very useful expressions for sizing and positioning content using the Transform panel only work for pages and not for artboards. Can variables like artboardwidth, artboardheight etc. be added as well? Thanks in advance!
  3. Greetings. I know there must be an easy way to Skew a 2D image? I have a background image of a TV studio... with placeholders for monitor screens. These screen are on various angles - I need to position a 2D TV monitor image into these positions. Any help would be new year fantastic. Thanks in advance...
  4. Hello everyone! When I change the height or width of a path In the transform tab, Designer will round the values to .x. I am using millimeters and when I enter something like 5.695mm, I will end up with 5.7mm. Is there a way of doing things more accurately? Best wishes, Shu
  5. Hello everyone, I've used the Affinity Photo for Windows beta version during the last few weeks and the feature I'm mostly missing (which gives me a unpleasing feeling when thinking about buying Affinity Photo for Windows now) is the possibility to transform objects or selections with a custom resample mode. I know there is the document resize tool which gives me bilinear, nearest neighbour and what not as resampe options but I'm used to do those actions on a selection base not document-wise (which feels like an odd workaround to me when copying stuff to an empty document do the resizing and paste it back). Based on the options available for document resize I assume that the implementation details are already done and the only thing missing is providing a UI and apply the resampling to each transform action. Perhaps I'm a bit spoiled using Photoshop but that is one of the essential features for me I'm missing and keeps me from throwing my money at you (actually it does not really prevents me to do so as I like the idea of a useful tool and alternative to adobe products I could get rid of Adobe much faster and a happy smile on my face when such a feature would be available) Last but not least I might have missed an option, shortcut or preferences to set to achieve what I described so any hint on how to achieve it (not some workaround like I've mentioned) is appreciated =). Best Regards
  6. Dear Forum Member, I want to mirror a isometric Shape (picture) in 30° Axis (red line). The usual Mirror function only works Horizontal and Vertical. Know anyone how to do that? Thanks for help. Matthias
  7. Hi there. The ability to distribute objects is really useful, but I would really love to be able to arrange Nodes using several alignment and distribute commands. I would also like to be able to transform a current selection of nodes- Scale, rotate etc.
  8. attached file is the free transform tool from Adobe Illustrator. Is this on the roadmap of AD?
  9. The icon "Lock aspect ratio" (Transform Studio) doesn't change when I click it to unlock. It changes only when I move the cursor. This confuse me because sometimes I think that I didn't click correctly. This problem is only on clicking to unlock. If I click it to lock the icon changes directly without moving the cursor. I notice the same problem in Affinity Designer.
  10. There is a shortcut to toggle the transform panel. But somehow it doesn't make the transform panel active. I would expect that it does. Because it would allow us to make transform changes directly from the keyboard without having to click on the transform panel first. There are a few other issues with the transform panel. When using the tab key, a field is selected as expected, but if I want to preform simple math on the value I can't position the cursor before or behind the value using the keyboard: using the left or right arrow keys increases the value! Strange indeed. Adding nudge distance in this panel would be a great timesaver as the preferences is not a good place to store something some of us change quite a lot. I also wonder why moving a duplicate with the nudge distance is not used in Power duplicate? Cheers, Wim
  11. Hi there, I'm trying AD beta on Windows and the latest's working great! In fact, I'm liking it so much that I'm planning to go through the tutorials and see how much I can squeeze it in order, hopefully, to completely switch to it and ditch AI. So far I've been able to find most of the basic stuff by myself, except for the AI transform effect. Is there something similar for AD? Here's what I mean:
  12. I tried all of the copy and paste possibilities, but nothing helped. How to copy and paste from one layer to another transform values? Appreciate any help! :)
  13. Hello togehter, in the transform tab of an object, I can click on the abbreviation letter of the transform parameters and drag the values with the mouse in a horizontal move. But this does not work for the position parameter "Y". see: https://youtu.be/pcxtqCp3yFA thanks for another fix....
  14. The lock aspect ratio (AR) function works fine if you type numbers into the W: and H: boxes... whichever you change, the other changes to maintain the AR. However, dragging a handle on the object itself does not maintain the AR - pressing Shift does lock the AR as expected. If I've locked the AR, I don't want it to change without my taking a direct action to do so. I think it would make more sense to lock the AR when dragging if the AR lock is set and flip the sense of the Shift key to allow distorted changes. Another entry on the forum describes how the Shift key function operates in this "flipped" mode "natural AR" objects such as bitmaps, so this wouldn't be out of step. Steve
  15. Hi, this is the issue, i align my stuff, place the objects wherever i want and so far so good, but, sometimes when i select an object it moves slightly to any direction, and i have to undo that transform since i didn't ask for that, it happens randomly and in all the documents i've worked so far.
  16. Hi I being trying to find a way to transform part of a vector selection. Grab some nods in my image and transform like scale and rotate..
  17. Hi. Please make in 1.5 Photo and Designer better modifications. First of all ability to place Linked, not only embedded document, converting selected layers to embedded/linked document. After applying Perspective tool to embedded document it becomes just pixel layer, make it keeping smart object like in Photoshop after applying any modifications. Add ability to make independent copy on embedded document, not only instance. Converting between Linked/Embedded. Look how it works in Photoshop, all modifications on Smart Object are just adding like smart filters or smart modifiers. It is very important to have this features! Thank you.
  18. A Transform each would be excellent. Similar to AI function, giving options in scale, rotation, skew, etc.
  19. I know this has been asked at least a couple of times, but I am still needing to copy, edit in illustrator, then paste in order to perform transforms (rotate, scale, move) on selected nodes. Can we please get either an indicator of whether this is going to be addressed soon or any workarounds/workflows that can make this less painful? The more I dive into original works in Designer the more I don't understand how artists cope without this capability? Many thanks in advance - John
  20. Hi, Is there a way to work with Affinity Designer so that I never get decimals in the Transform panel? I'm getting mixed results with using "Force Pixel Alignment" and "Move by Whole Pixel" and due to snapping/aligning, I sometimes still end up getting : X: 900px | Y:62,5px Of course this makes sense, if you align something in the middle, and the heights don't match, you do the divide by 2, and get a ,5 decimal... but it makes me always having to check the transform panel to make sure I don't have "badly" positioned elements. The reason I want this is for better export. I found that export works best if things are aligned on full pixel value. Maybe you can change the logic of the "Force Pixel Alignment" and/or "Move by Whole Pixel" to actually reflect this and do rounding of values whenever decimals are present. The explanations above are a bit all over the place, hopefully you understand the goal. If I were to go deeper into implementation, I would say this would make sense for "Move by Whole Pixel" with the rounding of the X / Y values. If user holds ALT / OPTION key pressed, then maybe allow decimal values, as an exception. Width and Height with decimals are maybe not that big of a deal, because the export slice can be set to a whole number, but the reference point (X/Y) is pretty important.
  21. Hi This is my first questions as a new Affinity user. I try to transform and duplicate and let Affinity do the job for me. I will set a "start figure" and a "end figure". Then I try to find a way to tell Affinity how many steps the transformation will be in. But I can´t find it. Hope you understand what I try to explain. Please see my document for an example. Kind regards, Roger Untitled.afdesign
  22. I recently purchased AD and am unable to precisely size an object. the Transform Panel under layers only shows Flip or Rotate. Where can I go to do this? I'm using IOs Mountain Lion.
  23. Hello, new user here. I love the program - many of things that I took many steps to do in AI I can do in just a few in AD! I'm loving it! One feature that stands out is mirroring. If you could please add mirroring around - say the centerpoint of a shape. That way one can be sure that the mirrored object is equidistant from a "horizon" point! Much appreicated!
  24. I just bought AD and I do not care if it does everything I want. I just want to explore it and contribute to this fine tool and its evolution. I do mostly abstract geometrical art and am wondering if it can do the following functions. 1. Something similar to the "Adobe Transform Effect Tool" with Copies (repeater), rotation, position and scale control. I use this tool to create repeated object patterns in spirals or horizontal stripes. 2. Rotation and copy function. I use this to create mandala patterns around circles. This would also be a part of a repeater function. 3. Custom brushes - Pattern, Art, Scatter - I use this a lot to create custom borders that tile the object. For example I would like to have a brush with all dots that scales based on pen pressure. Illustrator way to do this is a pain making all the dots in a line first. If AD has a repeater function please share the terminology used in user manual for me to learn.
  25. Hello there! Purchased Affinity Photo two days ago and I am (happily) on the (re)learning curve. I have to say, there went a lot of good thought in some of the altered features (compared to how they work in Ps), well done! Of course there will be quite a lot of questions. Some I can find here, some I couldn't. So I will ask here on the forum, putting the Ps nomenclature in the title for future Affinity-Turners that also say goodbye to Ps! My question: I am working on a composition in which I want to flip a layer horizontally. Ofcourse, using the move tool I can flip it but I only get it done stretching the image (out of ratio), which I don't want to happen. Searching the menu's I didn't see an option that seemed to fit but maybe I am looking for the wrong word (Ps term probably) or I am just too tired ;) Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance! Kind regards, Dennis G www.DeeGee.net Photography The Netherlands
