  1. Currently when resizing a selection, the selection resamples the nearest neighbor outside the selection. The result is that a resized image that has edged that have been feathered or blended into a gradient due to the algorithm used to resample when stretching the image. I'd like to suggest that the move tool gains an option to select the type of sampling algorithm used, with one option be none, to permit the creation of variegated flood filled rectangle based upon selection without the feathering/blending effect or utilizing a different sampling algorithm. This feature would be applicable to Photo or Design where pixel selections can be selected and transformed. The need for this feature goes as far back as early V1 days - I've found numerous reports of this problem with no suitable solution implemented.
  2. Hello Affinity, Today I needed a "free transform" tool in Designer 2. When selecting nodes in Node Tool and activating transform, I would like to transform freely in perspective, not just scale, skew and rotate. Very useful with any Move/Transform tool.
  3. Searched through the forums, found someone else's single workaround but no reference to such a setting, read through Settings and document setup. I thought it would be a setting for Transform but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm working on an enamel pin design and it's difficult to get the full dimensions of a pin (or make them fit a dimension) when I have to either constantly commit the outer stroke to vectors or some other workaround. Difficult to keep nondestructive and it can be a lot of extra unnecessary work.
  4. Summary: An SVG file containing a group element with a simple "scale" transform causes a shape to be incorrectly placed. The bug may be related to incorrectly using a coordinate system based on the viewBox. Application: Affinity Designer 2.1.1 OS: MacOS 13.5 Reproducible: Yes. Detail: The attached SVG file describes two concentric circles, centered at (0,0), one red and the other blue. The file renders correctly in Inkscape, Safari, Chrome, and Intellij, thus: But when opened in Affinity Designer, the blue circle is centered at (500,500) while the red circle is centered at (25000, 25000): If the viewBox is deleted from the SVG file, the result is then correct. I suspect that the "transform" is being applied relative to the corner of the viewBox; but that is incorrect. Transforms apply in the "user coordinate system", not the viewBox coordinate system. Here's a wild guess: perhaps, in an effort to avoid showing unsightly negative coordinates in the UI, AD incorrectly handles the case of the viewBox having negative coordinates: it simply added a "translate(+500,+500)", and the scale() transform got applied after that. But as you can see, that would be incorrect behavior. bug-6.svg
  5. When doing page layout work or screen design, it is extremely common that two objects on a page need to exchange places. The manual approach is rather tedious: Select one of them, drag it out of the page (or on top of the other), select the second object, move the second object exactly into the position of the firast object, and then to select the first object again and move it to exactly the same position that the second was in before. In some cases, even temporary guides or helper objects will be involved to ensure accurate positioning. A simple menu command or keyboard shortcut that just swaps the XY position of two objects would make this common task much quicker. Just select two objects, press a key and they are exchanged. Similar options could be created to swap the contents of two picture frames or to swap objects while maintaining the boundary rectangle by scaling them to occupy the same space.
  6. When using the transform panel to select a point of origin for scaling, etc., the selected or active point isn't highlighted correctly. The top/left default is larger and solid white, but when you select any other point, the size of the point changes, but not the color. I believe the expected behavior is that both the size and color would change to indicate the selected origin, and that would work. However, I would love it if the highlight color (used here and other parts of the UI) was user selectable in settings. Hopefully this isn't a re-post; searched, didn't find the same issue. Thanks. Affects: v2 and beta, all three apps OS: Windows 11 (22H2, 16GB RAM, 11 Gen i7) Hardware Acceleration: Enabled (no change without)
  7. Unless I'm missing a setting somewhere, objects created on a page will have the Y axis in relation to the page you are working on. The exception is unclosed paths / shapes, including straight lines, created by the Pen Tool which seem to have their Y axis in relation to the origin of the very first page in a document. This means that on p10 of my document the horizontal lines are showing an Y axis of 3044.8mm instead of 101.8mm! Oddly if you convert a rectangle to paths and then remove two of the nodes to create a straight line you get the correct positioning.
  8. Hello, I have a problem transforming selected pixels I have move tool selected and a selection of an object but when I want to transform it flips whole pixel layer.
  9. I think the locked icon should be little more distinctive, I mean more prominent. How about making it "bolder" abound 1px or so and in more high contrast color. The unlocked icon is ok to be left as is.
  10. I would like to have linked layers like Affinity Photo has. This would be tremendously valuable for linking layer visibility and transforms in a complex document. I often work on complex city size drawings, which require me to work with one artboard due to performance issues. Given that I make multiple separate drawings on the same base maps, I would like to link their visibility (since layers and effects may be scattered across the layer tree) so I can more easily export the drawings individually.
  11. Hello, in Affinity Designer, is there any way to transform a bounding box around multiple objects without affecting the geometry of the individual objects, i.e. only affecting the position of their center points? For example, having circles distributed in a rectangle formation, could I change the "shape" of this bounding rectangle without affecting the shape or size of the circles within? I know I can group rows of circles and distribute those horizontally. That works well in this simple example. I would however like to perform more complex transformations that can't be as easily decomposed into subsequent distribution steps. Thank you!
  12. Please increase the number of attributes recognized by Power Duplicate, and let it use them all at the same time. E.g. Imagine you could start with a square, round its corners a bit, add some color, change the transparency and line thickness, and only now would you apply the power duplicate. You would end up with a chain of objects resembling more and more circles instead of squares, having more and more of the added color, being more and more transparent, and, and, and... That would make life a little easier. Alternatively: a blend/morphing tool as in some other applications. We would choose a start and end object, and Designer would allow us to transform them into each other, producing an adjustable number of intermediate objects.
  13. Hello! I'm working with a document using inches, and when I move objects using the transform window it defaults to move by full inches (1" > 2"). In Adobe when you hit the up or down arrow in the transform window it will increase by (.0625") making small alignment easy. I am not asking about the nudge preferences, as I find moving that way to be imprecise, but I still like the increments of (.01") for very small adjustment. Screenshots attached. I apologize if this question has already been asked before.
  14. Please add a hotkey to "Enable Transform Origin' to the Keyboard shortcuts. I don't want to click this tiny button if I don't have to.
  15. I'm have a publisher page with multiple photo's (over 30) all in 4:3 but in multiple sizes. How do I give them all the same exact height in one transformation. I don't want to retype the size for all images.
  16. In illustrator owe have the scale tool to push two anchor points or nodes towards or away from each other, symmetrical and in equal amount, in Inkscape it's possible too. In Affinity Designer it seems to be an eyballing thing and I'm not an eyballing person. Is there a simple way around this? I tried with shift and alt and ctrl and don't know what else but none of these works. I'm aware of the point transform but unless it has some hidden functions I'm not aware off, it can not do the job. Edit: found it finally, it is not point transform, for whatever reason I thought it is. it's the transform option (and hold CTRL). image n°3
  17. 亲和图的功能是失踪。 选框工具的功能是太少。 你可以按住空格键来移动的位置在PS选框,可以自由变化和调整字幕的大小和方向。 这个函数是非常必要的和容易使用。 没有它,效率会慢下来。
  18. Hi I want to be able to easily scale objects. I've seen this topic, which explains how to use *=x% e.g. entering "*=50%" in the W cell of the Transform box will shrink the Width of the object to 50% i.e. half the original size. What I would like to be able to do is this, but whilst preserving the original size. e.g. I'd like to shrink and object to 50%, then realise its a tad too small, so try again at 60%. If I use the *=60% technique, I'll get something which is 60% of the new size, so really small, not 60% of the original size. Obviously I can do the maths, or go from original to 50%, then up by 200% then down by 60% but this is a lot of faff and seems like it should be baked in. Is this possible?
  19. I have found an issue with exporting to SVG using Export Persona. If I create a shape with the pen tool, duplicate and flip it, my cutting machine will only see the first shape, not the second one in the exported SVG. To get around this, I tick the Flatten Transforms in the options box. This works fine. However, the shapes I created and converted to curves (see layers) revert back to shapes in the resulting SVG file. If you open in a text editor, it can be seen that the ellipse and rectangle, although curves in the layers panel, export as shapes so my cutting machine ignores them. The only way around this I've found is to open the SVG in Inkscape, convert objects to paths, resave and reimport into Designer. I'm sure this should not happen? See files attached. Using 1.9.1.979. 21. I have a substantial issue I am hoping to resolve. I do a lot of architectural retouching, and I often copy-paste small elements all over an image, often from one side to another. I always have to distort/perspective/warp these objects to make them match up. Every time I move or distort an object on a layer, the layer increases in size by the amount of change. So if I copy/paste a region of pixels, then move it across the image to the other side, Affinity thinks the now transparent pixels somehow still have content, and increases the layer size accordingly. If I Command-Click the layer, the selection edges include the now empty pixels. Also if I try to use a distort filter, the handles encompass the entire expanded layer. This makes it nearly impossible to do accurate distortion. I have tried and tried to isolate just the actual pixel content, up to and including selecting the non-transparent pixels and creating a new document. Affinity refuses to accept that the transparent pixels are empty, and includes them in the entire operation. So if I move a 100x100 pixel selection across the image by 4000 pixels, I now have a 4000 pixel layer, that Affinity refuses to trim or crop. Even after I carefully select everything in the mask layer except the white, hit delete, and Command-click the layer again, it still shows the selection bounds including every other location where I moved the content.
  22. I have a vector spiral and I need to put text on the path, but the spiral is the wrong direction. When I flip the path and then attempt to place text on the path, the text is also now flipped. How do I place text on a flipped vector shape without the text also being flipped? EDIT: As always inevitably happens I figured it out immediately after I posted. Using the 'Node' tool I selected all the nodes, pressed 'Transform Mode', scaled it horizontally, then applied text to the path and it's flowing the proper direction.
  23. On a sheet I have 6 picture frame boxes that are all slightly different, irregular sizes and I want to transform them *all* to a single value, say, 3cm by 3cm. I can select the boxes all with the Move Tool and change the values for width/height to 3cm in the Transform panel, but this affects the collection of frames as a single entity, not the individual frames. I noticed there is an option in the toolbar to "Transform Objects Separately" but with this option enabled I can drag the size of a frame and have the other previously selected frames scale proportionally, but I still can't get all frames to 3cm by 3cm with a single action. I looked at Styles but didn't see a way to get Styles to apply box dimensions. My questions: is there a way to resize multiple objects to a single w/h value? And is there an "Object Style" feature to store this for future use in the document? Thanks for any insights, Patrick
  24. Would be nice if I could move a object toward rotated angle by numeric input on Transform panel. E.g. activating the option when Alignment Handle is enabled.
  25. Is it possible to move a object toward rotated angle with Transform panel? (Without reverting back rotation once)
