  1. NEW! AFFINITY DESIGNER VIDEO COURSE Finally, I can share my big news with all of you! For the past month I have worked on creating an online course. Affinity designer (AD) is one of the most unusual and truly accessible applications around. There are so many uses for it and though it is a super easy to learn I am still finding that some people are not fully sure how to use it. I think userCartoonMike saw this and he put together a great tutorial called the pumpkin tutorial that helped a lot of people. If you knew what kind of time it takes to put together a tutorial you understand what he did really stems from passion love he has for the community and Affinity Designer! I hope he does more because his tutorial is rather good and a work of art in its own right. If you have not seen that tutorial then definitely go download the PDF and give it a go! I was inspired by the idea teaching and felt I too have some talent, skills, and experience to share. I too want to help other creative and artist like myself, reach their full potential. I started with the my Mixmediasalad Youtube Channel 5 weeks ago and I did it in tandem of creating my full online class. I was curious to know if I was doing the right thing and if there was an interest. I was not sure anyone would tolerate the sound of my voice or just found the information useful at all. Well I can put those worries behind me because the response has amazed, excited, and inspired me. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you all so much for your critiques, compliments and support! I like to show you all some love with 74% off Christmas launch discount. I know is sounds crazy but I really want as many people as possible to benefit from the class. I also want this class to be the best you have taken and I really want to hear your opinion on what you like to see in more advance course. This is not just a download watch type of training you also get me as your instructor that means you can ask questions, get reviews & critiques, and help from someone with professional experience as well as someone who cares. I am sure by the end of my course you will have mastered the essential principles and features of Affinity Designer. When you complete this course, you will walk away with at least 1 portfolio pieces, and some free goodies, and few techniques under your belt.
  2. Interesting observation of a bug that only happens in Chrome browsers. In Chrome, I can only watch one video one time and then I can't watch anymore in that browser session. However, if I open the Affinity training videos up in MS Edge, I can watch all of them. Not sure why Google Chrome limits Affinity videos this way, but I just have to remember this is no longer a problem with the Edge browser.

  4. I know I will probably be castigated for my comments, but I am getting more and more frustrated by the lack of good quality videos for beginners. Yes there are 100's of videos but these just show how to use one particular tool. I am a landscape photographer (low grade amateur ), and I really can't find any worth while videos. I have searched youtube, vimeo and can't find any real full length videos that take you through a complete workflow. Yes I have bought a video by 'Drippy cat" but to be honest I did not find it that good, sorry. I am a subscriber to photoshop/Lightroom, but want to get rid of my monthly subscription. I bought Affinity photo about 18 months ago and I think its great. Its just a pity that someone like Anthony Morganti, or one of the 100's of subscribers on youtube have not taken up the program. This worry me as we believe that Affinity photo is a real competitor to photoshop. I know Affinity photo has only been going for a short time compared to photoshop, but I really think its about time Affinity tried to get more of the very good trainers out there to start making videos. I am sure I will be very unpopular with this post, but I believe there are many other beginners who are struggling with Affinity photo. Sure I will get there in the end, but more comprehensive videos would really help to shorten the process. Regards Mikep
  5. Hello Everyone ! Hello Team ! Today i'm coming with this clear suggestion: Could Serif start making (and inviting) peoples and users to live webinar or YouTube Live which will be more organized like Masterclasses ? What's the point for this ? Well, in fact it is not bad to have short courses or content like the one we see and have on the respective YouTube channels (Photo, Designer and Publisher) but when it comes to really practical way of all this ... it gets really complicated i mean, if i want to achieve a project using APhoto and i want to process some massive Dodge and Burning (the Affinity way) but in the same time i don't know about layers and what they are used for, then i will be tempted to work in a really destructive way with almost Zero possibility to recover. So to fix that, the better will be that i attend a Masterclass/Webinar which Topic will be Layers and where i will learn not only about layers but about most of creative and most needed operations that can be done using layers (dodge and burning included). A 1h long with 3 or 4 examples is enough and then i will ask question about that precise topic and get answers. This will make people progress really fast, drop the pressure level in the forum and make every people who really are invested to progress together and deliver good or simply much better. The Masterclass can also be the opportunity to have those people you are presenting on Spotlight to not only talk about this and that but come connect with Affinity community though a Webinar/Masterclass for a 1h long sharing. There are many things that can become a Masterclass topic, from Text to Paragraph to Adjustment Layers etc. Also Webinar/YouTube live Masterclass can be the very place to showcase the current Beta through kind of 30min. Okay ! here is toom much line of text. I leave it here for everyone to read and bring necessary inputs, the idea is global but only the community can refine it. Blessings
  6. I just want to share with you, that I have just launched an Affinity Photo Workflow Video Course. I have for a long time felt a lack of training videos, that tie the features of Affinity photo into one professional workflow. So, I have created a course, that: Allows you to begin to use Affinity Photo like a PRO with confidence. Explains a Start-to-Finish Affinity Photo workflow. Get to know all the post-processing steps: from opening a RAW file to publishing or printing the finished image. 140 minutes of video content, including explanations of key processing techniques and case videos. Includes 3 bonus workflow macros included. Specially designed for this video course. Gives you everything you need to establish your own non-destructive workflow using Affinity Photo. There is already a lot of great videos about how to use Affinity Photo, however with this new course, I think that many photographers can improve their understanding of Affinity Photo and establish their own editing workflow. By the way, as a thank you to Serif for giving photographers a great product, all interested users in this forum can use the coupon: forum.affinity.serif at check out get an extra 15% discount on the video course. I hope you welcome it into the growing pile of professional training material for Affinity Photo. Cheers, Peter Dam
  7. It would definitely be awesome to see some courses on using photo (both desktop and IOS) and designer (both desktop and ISO) on pluralsight. There is a creative section which the courses would fit nicely into, along side adobe ones which already exist
  8. I have a very old photo that is partially damaged. I believe i can repair and enhance the photo. I am looking to fix the photo and frame it for a gift to someone very special. It is more than I can tackle alone. I participated in a number of tutorials but they don't get me to where I need to be to repair the photo. I am a looking for someone who can help both as a consultant and a teacher. If there is anyone out there who has extensive knowledge on repairing old photos or knows someone and can help please let me know. I am willing to pay for your services. I have tried to find consultants and trainers on the web but not had any luck. Thanks. Jim
  9. Having a difficult time learning AP. Have an AP training class from Udemy which I must say not overly impressed with. Can anyone make recommendation as to any web classes they have take on AP that they feel was very good. Looking forward to replies. Thank You
  10. So, I created this owl as part of one of recent class lectures update on compound shapes. I had a "hoot" while creating him in AD!
  11. I am a complete newbie to Graphic Design therefore would like training right from the beginning. I work in Web Design but have not been involved in graphic design work yet although it is becoming increasingly necessary in my line of work. Are there any tutorials which would be suitable for a complete beginner?
