  1. Hello, I am creating this presentation but the text doesn't not get center aligned in the text box. I have attached the file and the video. Am I doing something wrong ? Thank you, Affinity-Publisher-Center-Align.mp4 text-center.afpub
  2. Hey folks! Here's the case: I am currently working on a logo in Affinity Designer. It is the second iteration and I would like to present him the first vectorized draft of the logo in an appealing layout and with written documentation. I have created the layout in Affinity Publisher and linked the Affinity Designer file in it, so that any changes to the logo are directly reflected in the Publisher document. Thereby I encounter the following problem/s: The Designer file contains text that uses a licensed font that should remain editable until the final version of the logo – but in the Designer file ONLY. If I now export the Publisher document as a PDF for web to keep hyperlinks to references and good readability for example, the text of the linked logo gets exported editable/selectable via Adobe Acrobat – which I don't want at all! If I export the document as flattened and all elements are rasterized, it becomes (even if only slightly) blurred and consequently pixelated – which I don't want either. A possible solution for a feature could be the option to convert any text ONLY in linked/embedded files instead of converting all text to curves during export. I'd be happy to learn if there's another, more convenient way to do this, since it's a bite impractical while the logo's not final. 😀 However, I' m not quite sure if I described the problem in an easy to understand way. 😅 Greetings MrDoodlezz
  3. Would it be useful if you could import and export text styles? Single or multiple text styles together.
  4. For instance, the below text:- (literally:- are you going this year, brother ?) is not rendered properly in both Designer and Photo. The area that I highlighted contains tone mark which is supposed to be a bit higher than the upper-level characters, However, they are placed at the same level, and clash with each other. This suggested that the OpenType GPOS table is not applied.
  5. Hello! First of all thank you guys for having developed this wonderful suite, I bought all three software on my Macbook Pro and my win10 desktop. They are really brilliant in many ways, but there is one thing that frustrated me a bit. Based in China with this East Asian background I have to deal with lots of vertical texts, in Mainland China vertical layout texts in books or magazines have become much less popular since the new regime made decision to assimilate to the West, however these years I have seen many people of young generation have picked up the old tradition in their works i guess might be Japan/Taiwan/Hong Kong cultural influence that made them to rediscover the old fashion China style. Anyway I am still able to make vertical Chinese/Japanese/Korean layouts, just very inconvenient. What I am doing now is type text in horizontal text frames and then edit them to be vertical and I give up if there are loads of words. I hope if possible I will be able to directly type in vertical CJK texts like in Word/Pages or Japanese version of Indesign. thanks. And if this function is still there just me not knowing it please tell me lol. Wish you all the best, I really appropriate.
  6. I KNOW this has a simple solution. But for weeks now (watching YouTube vids looking for an answer)... I can't figure out how to simply 'curve' my text. I need to curve text to follow the circular path of a CD Layout. (to print text on the edge of a CD). All I could find is info on creating 'paths'... but I am horribly inexperienced with that and I'm hoping there is an easier way. I feel dumb asking... but here I am... asking. thanks for any help!
  7. Hello, I have installed the new version of 1.8 for all of my Affinity product. However, the moment I press enter to go to the next line the text format changes ?? such a weird behavior after installing the update. The file is attached maybe someone can take a look at it. You can take a look at the video as well. Is it a bug or maybe I am doing something wrong ? Thank you, text-frame-bug.mp4 text-frame-bug.afdesign
  8. Thanks for the upgrade guys, but i miss one imported thing and that is vector text wrap or perpective posibility. This is a very imported tool for designing.
  9. Evening, So maybe I’m missing something simple with this. I copied and pasted some text of the internet. When doing so the font copied in a white background. Now every time I go to start new Artist Text the white background shows up. How do I remove this?
  10. Whenever I place a Designer document on Publisher and wrap text around an artboard, the wrap outline does not match the size of the artboard, in a totally random way, so I must resize the wrapping manually every time I place a Designer file. If I modified the artboard later on Designer, and do a "Reset Wrap Outline" it reverts to the incorrect wrapping, despite having modified the artboard size, instead of detecting and resetting to the new artboard size. Steps: Do some text layout on Publisher Place a Designer document with artboards Add a text wrapping to the placed artboard (Results on incorrect wrap outline) Edit the incorrect wrap so it matches the artboard size. Tested with different Designer files with multiple artboards (also single artboard documents) and each result in a totally aleatory wrapping size. Each tried document result in a totally different wrapping error, with no noticeable pattern. Publisher 1.7.3 - Designer 1.7.3 - Mac OSX 10.15.2
  11. I have a logo that has text on a circle. When I scale the circle with the text on it (part of a large group of nested circles) the text does not scale and it makes a large mess. I have to size the text on the circle to the target size first before I can resize the circle. This is very frustrating as the new logo is a large group of nested circles and other text that I want to be able to resize at will to whatever size my needs are. What am I missing? Or, is this the expected behaviour. My recollection of Illustrator is that this was not a problem and the text would resize with the circle.
  12. Hello, I would like to put text on photos of different formats and I would like that when viewing them on TV (Screen saver) that the text is always the same size on the screen. How do I do it?
  13. Hi, 1st post here, sorry if it's a stupid question. Using latest version of Designer on a 2017 MacBook Pro (on Catalina). Here's the problem: When I add a brush stroke as an outline to text, I can change the brush stroke colour - as you would expect. But, when I set the stroke to be behind the text (99% of the time), the stroke changes to black - not in the colour picker, but on the actual page. If I change it back to be in front of the text, the colour returns. If I change the stroke from a brush to a solid line, it works fine. I also don't have this problem with shapes - only text. Thanks for a great app, hope you can help me with this little niggle. Meredudd
  14. I created FlowCharts using Artboards with Affinity Designer, very easy and successful. The text was in English, I saved copies in AF format and as PDF. The PDFs were printed and all the text was, as expected, in perfect English. I have just reopened the file in Affinity Designer to incorporate suggested amendments, and notice that some letters in some words have been replaced with symbols that I don't recognise. The attachment shows the 'new' version of what I typed - and I checked the previously printed copies which confirmed that this change has only occurred on re-opening the file today. The text was entered as: Limited information to branches, e.g. advertising meetings b.... Foreign membership number queries... I checked the language in preferences and it was set to English (United States), I have just reset that to English (United Kingdom and (not surprisingly) the foreign symbols are still in the text. This means I have to check the spelling in 14 artboards/flowcharts, thankfully the red underlining will help. Any ideas why this happened, please? Hilary
  15. Kerning toggle tool not working as usual in iPad app, instead of adjusting the letters it just sort of twitches around 0%... anyone else having this issue?
  16. Hello Working in Designer 1.7.3. Suddenly any text I create in a particular file started having a white background underneath. It does not affect the previously created text areas. The area remains white whether the text field is selected or edited. I have no idea whether I have changed something in settings that may have had some influence on this behaviour. It is not the regular background (see screenshot, I included example text and Character panel with no background color selected). Restarting Designer does not help. Do you have some ideas on how to fix that?
  17. Hi I'm trying to do the Thing in the first Picture, only when i do it, it doesn't work and just shifts the test til after the "indentation". To do it, i made a rectangle, overlapped a circle and boolean cut it away. then i clicked the text icon and selected the shape. The cursor changed to the pentagon what should in my opinion have been the cue that it accepts the shape as the border of the text field. But when i put text in it, it didn't work. What am i doing wrong? Does it only work with objects defined by paths or does it not work on round indentations or have i done something wrong in the process? I'd appreciate any help with this. Thank you Felix
  18. Is there a way to have text which is on a path, scale like regular text when part of a group? I'll try to explain in detail here: I have a group of objects consisting of 2 text layers, 4 shape layers. One of the text layers is on a path forming an arch over my shape layers. The lower text is just normal text. These are all grouped together as one object. When I scale the group, all the layers, including the bottom text scale proportionately. However the upper text layer (on the path), this text does not scale at all.z Thanks.
  19. Hey! Thanks again for the good work and the nice recent updates! One of my files does something strange, though: Every new text object (not only the text frame) has an unchangeable background color. I know that it is by design when I convert shape into a text Frame. But this time I only use text frames or artistic text. Closing the application and Opening the file again doesn't help. Although only this file behaves like this. I can even copy text frames from new documents without a background color and it works. In the file there is a transparent frame text which comes from another file. The file was originally a PDF. Maybe this is important in this case too. In the screenshot you are seeing: the first field is an artistic text with grey background the second field is a text frame with the same Problem Never set any Background - the were created like this - only in this file! I have attached the file if needed for inspection. Seems like a bug only in this file - thought it might be helpful to know. All the best, Chris test.afdesign
  20. I have seen some similar questions on the forum but have not come across precisely the same issue. I am creating files in Designer on iPad. They are text files. There are no images, but the text is (in some cases) heavily formatted. I need to send the files by email, to be printed out and viewed at the other end. When I print directly from Designer, everything looks great. Presumably, my colleagues will not want to deal with opening Designer files, so I am trying to export as PDF. On screen, the exported PDF file looks fine. However, when I print the exported PDF file, the text is “muddy”. Not sure how to describe it, but it looks like the text has been converted to outlines or the resolution is reduced, or both, or something else (see attached). I’m not sure WHERE in the process the kink exists, and would appreciate some help figuring it out. Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated!
  21. Hi, Does anyone have any idea how to fit text to a banner so that it looks nicer than the example I've attached? I need it to fit between the red lines. Banner.afdesign
  22. I want to make text that looks like it has been written with a gold. Can some one please tell me if and how I can achieve this? I've attached some examples.
  23. I can't get text to wrap around circles or curves
  24. Hello, I’m trying to put text on a curved path in Affinity Photo on my iPad. I’m running iOS 13.3. I’ve looked at several videos on the topic and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong... is it even possible anymore or was it taken out of an updated version? thanks! D
  25. I would like to be able to export a Designer file as EPS with text, however I don't see an option to do so. My resulting exported EPS file converts the text to curves. Is there any option to keep text as text rather than converting to curves?
