  2. The screenshot speaks for itself really, I know this is a thing in Photoshop but is there any way to snap the bottom line of the Frame Text to the bottom part of some text? I'd need this to space everything out just right. Thanks
  3. I would like to design glass and gel text like the attached example, which was made with a plugin, that doesn't work in Affinity Photo. I can make the 3D and the shaddow, but not the glass or gel effect. How?
  4. Hi guys, I am trying to get the text into a path, for example a circle. I can see how to to put the ON a path, but I can't figur our how to put it INSIDE it (in the most non-sexual way possible ) I attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to achieve, made with Fireworks. Thank you kindly
  5. Hey guys, When viewing the distance between objects, on dark backgrounds the distance text is barely visible. I literally can't read it at all. I posted a screenshot. Thanks
  6. Hello, I wold really like to see more text transformation tools so that we can make varied typography designs. Warp text and fish, etc. would be very helpful for logos, products, and printables.
  7. Hi, maybe you all experts now hos to do this, and there might be a built in help with this issues. I am on a Ipad Pro 10.5" latest IOS. I use this software everyday when I create my infographs. BUT... When I have created a text and desided a fontsize before i starts writing, It all goes fine, but when I the try to change the size of the text with the "mark border" that appear when i selct it. I then try tograb the corners to resize text, its inpossible, the only thing thats happens is that you move the total text, or junps into annediting mode. I need som help here, I create graphics and then text, I need to be able afterwards to change an manipulate the size and alignment. regards Petr
  9. Feature requests 1. Stop Tab Ruler The current stop tab panel is rather frustrating, and often these things need to be designed rather than calculated. The same sort of thing as in Word, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark Xpress 2. Text box overflow Currently the text in a box flows out of the bottom of a text box. I read the reasoning why, however at concept stage (especially when using dummy text) I find myself having to delete lots and lots of Latin text, only to have to re-paste it in a few moments later once I've changed font size / box size etc. 3. Text box linking It would be really great if there was an option so that you could choose if the text flowed out of the bottom of the text box. Likewise the option of linking / flowing content between text boxes would be super-helpful. I know that these may appear more like options for a DTP package rather than illustration program, however there's often need, especially web concepts. Thanks
  10. Argh. Created 3 x 120º segments (yes, to form a circle, thank you ) that were to hold text. I then spent the next half hour fighting the evil "text on a path" demons again, so eventually I gave up and created three plain circles so *I* was in control instead of whatever creation method was at the heart of a shape. Is there no way to tell a text on a text path to ignore the previous history of the shape that created the path (read: being flipped, rotated, mirrored, turned inside out and covered in bees - ANYTHING) and offer some options to solely make the TEXT flip, go into mirror mode, write backwards or upside down? As in controlling the actual component you are working instead of a hard and mostly invisible dependency on the characteristics and previous life of the underlying shape that created the path? I think adding that control to the text part would IMHO rather massively reduce the pain of text on a path. The present approach basically forbids the use of any normal shape manipulations such as flipping and mirroring because you end up paying dearly for that later when you convert it to a text path. You cannot flip or mirror the text on its own as you end up flipping the shape with it, which you then have to undo the effects of. Moving control to where it belongs ought to help. 11. When I have two texts like this: "123456" and then "yay" and select this two text and want arrange it vertically to the some object with align bottom, they are aligned good but text with special characters, because text have some base line and there are characters which are out of this line (ypj... they are below). I mean when text like "123 abc..." it is ok, but when I write "yjp" and other signs which are extra sized (I am sorry, don't know describe it in english), because their base is lower then others, then text is aligned higher then other text without this extra characters, because bounding box take the extra sized characters. Question is, is there posibility change the bounding box to the base text line?
  12. Hi. Brand new to Designer and have a question about how to type on a path in a specific way. I'm hoping to move away from Adobe CC and this one feature will make or break my decision... I make and sell address stamps. They're all personalized to the buyer. In Adobe Illustrator, the solution is very easy to do but I can't figure out how to convert the bottom line (address section) so that it reads like the first image. The 2nd image shows what I have so far for the bottom. What I can't figure out is how to reverse and invert the bottom line. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi everyone, Is there any way other than perspective distortion or maybe mesh-warp to transform/skew text like in the image?
  14. Completely new to this so not sure what I'm missing. In photoshop I could change the fonts just by having the text layer selected and scrolling through the list of fonts that I have. That doesnt seem to work in Designer. After I've typed in something and press enter I get a layer with all the letters on separate layers under it and picking different fonts doesn't change anything. How do you change fonts after you've typed in something?
  15. I'm a new user to Affinity and I'm looking for a tutorial on how to add text to an image that looks like it was written in sand. I've googled this and can only find tutorials for Photoshop. Anyone have experience with this and can provide instruction?
  16. we really need these 2 tools for Designer: text envelope (example: to make the curved baseline of Netflix logo) text path (example: to make the text follow the circle around Starbucks Coffee logo) aside from that, i think another tool required is contour tool, but it's already mentioned in the previous thread. thanks developers!
  17. So I've googled to see how to make curved text/ text following path of shape but it seems like they are either outdated or simply does not work? not sure if it's some kind of glitch or it was changed, just not updated on documents. I've seen tutorial of clicking shape then use text tool on top of it but it didn't work, nor manually selecting it from LAYER to convert shape into path (Convert to Path wasn't under layer tab. I'm assuming that it was outdated tutorial cause that tutorial was made 2 years ago-ish). Thank you.
  18. I've got a few shapes where, at some point in the past, I've flipped them horizontally. To my surprise, when I filled them with text, the text was also reversed. Is there a way to tell Affinity to not keep that information hanging around, and just make the text object normally? Personally I feel like it shouldn't behave this way (if I wanted reversed text, I'd flip it after adding the words). There are work arounds, like combining some geometry, even if it doesn't alter the shape, will resolve the issue. Thanks!
  19. I have a layer of place names on a map. I've applied 'MyStyle 1' to them all as I've typed them in. I can change their look by just editing 'MyStyle 1'. So far, so good. If I click the layer, all the place names are selected but if I try to now apply 'MyStyle 2' to them it doesn't work. I have to actually select all the items in the layer to change the applied style. That doesn't seem quite right to my way of thinking. Is this a bug, are the correct way of working?
  20. Hey there, After working on Affinity Designer for a month now. I'm always thrown off by the inconsistency of using shift while scaling an object/text. By default when you scale a text or a group Affinity Designer scales it proportionately without having to hold shift. But if you hold shift you get to do a free form transform on the text or group. However when you select a single object or multiple objects (not group) at once Affinity Designer by default lets you do free form transform. But when you hold shift that changes to scaling it proportionately for a single object or multiple objects (not group). I find this at least in Adobe Illustrator it's consistent with what shift does. I would know always that holding shift will let me scale all things proportionately. How does everyone feel about that? Thanks!
  21. I am a rank beginner in midst of a trial for Designer. Could you give me a step-by step to create a simple piece. Shapes, filled in different colors, say identical rounded rectangles Inside these shapes, simple text in black. Text not to be shape fills or arty type, but plain, linear text. Alignment of these shapes, and the text within the shapes. Desired results: a set of colored shapes with the black text inside them visible over the colored backgrounds. What should be my sequence of layers? I would assume Shape(s) covered by transparent-background text layer(s), but I cannot seem to achieve this. The text layer obliterates the shape. I am clearly doing something wrong, but what? This software seems to be what I want, but I am having a struggle breaking into it.
  22. Hi. I'm a new user to AP, switching from Pixelmator. To open my Pixelmator docs in AP, I'm exporting them as PSD and then opening in AP. But all my text layers show up as paint objects, not text objects and so are uneditable. Is there a way? (Please say yes.) Thanks...
  23. I'm now an official convert to Affinity Photo and love it. Just cancelled my membership with Adobe for Photoshop, I'm that confident it will definitely do everything I need. I do have one question though, I've invested a chunk of change in photoshop styles over the years and would like to continue to use them. Are there plans to allow the import/usages of the Adobe Styles? That would make it 100% perfect for me. Cheers Dan
  24. Hi all, I made a HDR-style wallpaper from my autumn picture in Affinity Photo. I used Tone Mapping persona and Artistic text with effects.
