Hello all, I have a question. I just recently started testing Affinity Photo and would like to know how you can copy the style of the text (without identifying font) and replace a word on the existing document. It's a scanned version of a photocopy of a document. So let's say I want to replace the word SUSPENDISSE with AFFINITY and everything else remains the same (See attached document as an example) How would do that? First I'd need to erase the word and then afterwards use the clone brush tool and find all the letters you need one by one and and paste it on top of SUSPENDISSE? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Please, can you give us an estimate date on which the feature that will allow us to export text from Affinity to Photoshop and keep the text editable will be live? Hello everyone I have a query for you I'm experimenting on a project in which i would need to add text on a blindfold and make it look as if it's painted on/on the blindfold . I found that "negation" blend mode gives the best results in terms of visible texture of the blindfold , however because of the blend mode and the light unnatural black spots appear . How would you guys suggest getting rid of the black spots (The issue is at the R letter where there is quite a lot of distortion of colors)

Windows 10, Publisher Build 145. I've noticed something about tight text wrapping around a curved shape that seems wrong, but maybe someone can explain it to me. Have a look at the first attached image. The text is 7pt Arial on a 9pt baseline grid. The filled blue circle is a layer that has tight text wrapping with a gap of 2pt all-round. The outlined blue circle - on the right-hand diagram - is 4pts wider and taller than the filled blue circle (observing the 2pt gap of the text wrap). As you can see, the text is further away from the circle at the top and bottom than it is at the right. I can understand why, for example, "hendrerit" below the circles isn't anywhere near the outlined circle because the baseline forces it to be further away, but I don't understand why the other text is so far away from the circle. The second attached image shows the same sort of issue but it looks a lot worse there. Can anyone explain why this is supposed to happen, or is it a bug? It just doesn't seem quite right to me. Seems that the beta version has an issue with recognizing the font's internal kerning table when certain letters start a sentence at the text frame (see screenshot).

Hi, You know you can link pictures to a picture frame, so that if the picture is updated then it's updated in the Publisher file too. It would be really cool if you could do something similar with text in word documents and Google Docs. That way a group of people could update the text and the changes would automatically appear in the Publisher file. Just a thought BillyB

I'm totally new to Affinity and super excited to see what I downloaded! It really looks awesome. I tried to search for existing issues and can't find any, hope I'm not duplicating or missing something obvious. Please be kind while I learn... Bug description and expected results: When I attempt to open an SVG file created in Inkscape (without converting text to curves / paths) the images are all imported correctly, however all the text is missing. I attempted to look at the help file and it shows a table of formats that can be imported and svg is displayed so I'm expecting that the import should: - Either be successful with all my images and text boxes correctly imported and displayed. - Or an appropriate error message is displayed telling me there was issues with the import (if any) and hopefully how to fix it. - Help available to explain if there are any constraints / prerequisites / workflow that I must follow for a successful import. Actual results: - Only images are imported. No text. - No error message is displayed. - Help gives no guidelines how to resolve the issue. Attached are 3 files as supporting documents - 1. Expected result with a png version of the flyer as it should look like. 2. Actual result with a screendump of what I'm seeing. 3. The svg file I'm trying to upload. I am trying to accomplish something I do in Illo all the time but can’t seem to do in affinity. i like to convert my type to paths, and then merge the shapes. in Affinity I have converted the text to curves and then used the add command but it still won’t merge. See image for the overlap not going away. its almost as if I am missing a step after I convert the type to curves. Anyone have the answer?

Clean install - no hassle - no indicated errors! Opened AFPhoto file in AFPub - no problem Tried to finish AFPhoto text project using Publisher(AFPhoto is erratic in text operation-"nervous"). Observation 1 - Unusual insertion maybe by design When I use Text Frame tool to insert text, if I simply click in the work surface - nothing happens- maybe it is supposed to be that way, but most all applications I use will insert a contingent text frame set to the current font style, font, and font size and if you insert no text it is forgotten. I may end up liking the behavior, so if the behavior is by design, cool. Observation 2 - In order to get a frame in AFPub, you have to click drag and then you have a persistent frame with or without text. Once a frame is created with or without text, the work area is jittery so long as the mouse text frame cursor is in the drawing/pasteboard area. If you move the tool cursor over to the page thumbnail area it immediately stops jittering. Moving the cursor back to the work area, the jitter reinitiates. I suspect the jitter is along scroll direction rather than having a side to side component. Strangely this behavior subsided in the time it took me to create this note and has not reoccurred through to the following day. For the record. -
Hallo, Coming from Adobe creative suite after many years, especially photoshop and indesign I was so happy to stumble upon Affinity. Really excited by these guys at Serif. Anyway, I have a large indesign project which I need to re-create completely in Affinity publisher, and a minor part was copying some hebrew text (NewPeninimMT) and Adobe Caslon Pro font into Affinity. I did not expect them to display and expected the hebrew to give me a whole load of boring squares as is usual in other pieces of software and in indesign when I first tried it many years ago. But it displayed perfectly. The font box, however, did insert a question mark before the font name. The font list in affinity did not have either of these fonts and neither does my microsoft system, there are none stored at this time. Strange that it displayed at all.

Hallo, I have included two screen shots, one is from windows 10 control panel the other windows 10 font disply, both showing the DAVID font, as I did install them. However one is greyed out while the other is availbale, this is a mystery in itself, but I assumed that affinity would show all my fonts in its program since the system has them. My ignorance regarding the disorganised scruffy windows system is due to the fact that I am apple mac person but unfortunately have been forced to work with 'this thing called microsoft'. I would appreciate your help. Thanking you in advance.

If I change the DPI of the documente, the text alignment and the text size of the master pages also change only in the child pages.

Hey there fellow affinity users. i have a simple question regarding Affinity Designer. Is there a a way to either copy a a color gradient or if possible to save it to use later? I typed out some text, went to fill and changed the color to a gradient that goes from light blue to pink. then i realized i need to use it again and i don't know how to copy it. i cant remake it because it wont be the same... Also if possible it would be nice to maybe save it as a custom one if possible to use again down the road.. -
I paste text into a table cell, highlight the table row, right click and choose "Autofit Row to Contents". The bottom of the cell boarder covers the text (see attached). I have tried working with Character and Paragraph settings to fix this, but I have only fixed the top (setting Space Before to 6 pt, and Use Space Before: Always).

When I place an Affinity Designer graphic with several creative text instances (some left- and some right-justified) all text is shown as left-justified. The graphic is made with Designer 1.6.5.123 and is displayed correctly in Designer itself. -
Hi there. So, I got an error copying text with bullets from one cell to another cell (cells from different tables) -> happened twiced I've removed the bullets manually and nothing happened. So i think there's something related to the bullets. EDIT: i've tried again with other cell and nothing happened. maybe was something about the text format, not sure. -
Hello: I come with some Ideas for Affinity Designer... When you create a text that said: "Hello World" I would like that you have a option for split this text and when you click this option, it will put "Hello" in one layer and "World" in another layer and the option if you want split by word or by letter. When you are working with curves, I would like that you can select a node and you have the option for rotate this node or scale this or those nodes selected. Have the option for convert a Bitmap to vector. Have a option that you can create your own brushes without save any picture, is like pattern along path. If is possible, compatibility with Illustrator brushes. When you select the Pen Tool, it have the option of Stability, I would like another option for do perfect curves, like in InkScape when you select Spiro. Effects for curves. More transformation option for text like liquify and this transformation option that you can see in Illustrator. More variety of adjustment and filters. At the moment this is the ideas that I have. If I get some more I will let y'all know. Thanks. I love affinity products.

Windows 10 - Publisher 1.7.0.128. Is there a way to get a Linear Gradient to be anything other than horizontal in a Text Frame fill? For example, I'd like to be able to make a gradient from light grey at the top, going down to white at the bottom. I've looked around a bit but I can't see anything relevant. It's not a big issue as I can easily do what I want another way (well, probably a few other ways), I'm wondering if I'm just not seeing a better solution.

In some vector graphics applications, for example Omnigraffle for the Mac, all objects with an area can contain text. Arrows can have labels, so technically, they contain text too. Even groups can have their own text. In addition, text boxes can be formatted with outlines and background colors, just like any other object. This makes it a lot easier to label figures in diagrams and other drawings than the nested text box approach currently used by Designer and Photo. Having a similar feature in Affinity Designer would be highly useful. -
Using and teaching computers for 40 years, and running senior's classes for last 20 - mostly PC and taught Pageplus as the best DTP I had come across - but sadly not for Mac as I am. However, this beta fits the mould ; currently trying to transfer vast quantity of random autobiog notes from Curio into booklets. Most enjoyable is list of contents and index - so easy to use. This query is for a list of favourite text styles at top of list of so many - as in Pages, would make life much easier. You are doing a great job!

When I export a document with black text as a print PDF, the text in the PDF is built in 4-color (cmyk). For printed products, it is important that black text be printed in black (k) only.
