I opened up a PSD in AP and single lines of text import correctly but multi-line text seems to have the values stripped and all the lines collapse on top of each other. Basically the "leading" is set to zero but even if I go in and change the leading value, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Please advise. Thank you. -
Hi, I would like to point out some issue I encountered on Affinity Designer while writing in Thai: some of the diacritics / accents are misplaced: Consider the following combination of 3 characters: They should produce the following combination (here using MS Word): However on Affinity designer, the third diacritic overlaps the second diacritic instead of being placed above where it belongs: Could you please help fix this issue? Hi, is it possible to rasterize all content except text in a PDF export so that the text remains selectable in the document but all vector graphics have been converted to raster graphics? Thanks in advance! -
I don’t know how difficult it is to make it possible to save PSD files with editable text layers instead of rasterizing them. This is the one feature that keeps me from doing my design work totally on my iPad without Photoshop. I have a client that needs the ability to edit the text before it goes to print because of data that is not available when I’m working on the job (ie product catalog numbers). So my current workflow is I do all of the design layout, drawing, photo editing on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil, then export as a PSD, and then add all the text layers in Photoshop on my laptop. Of course there may not be a high demand for this feature. -
Hello, I just switched from the Adobe CC to Affinity and i run into a problem withing Affinity Publisher. In InDesign I'm used to making a mockup of my document using wireframes, and then filling it with text and picures. When i wanted to do the same thing within Publisher, I can't type in a picture frame. I seem to have to make a seperate textframe for typing. Can an empty pictureframe be used as a placeholder before filling the document with text and pictures? Or is it just an empty placeholder for pictures? -
Hello! Has anybody ever experienced a locked leading? No matter how I change the leading size, the spacing doesn't change on the text. Please see screenshots of when leading value is different but the spacing remains the same on the actual text. I noticed that this only happens when I copy over existing text on other afpub files. And that actually opens up other problems as well (e.g. stroke outline becomes thicker or thinner when I copy paste from another afpub file) This is really bugging me so much as I work with templates and I have to use pre made layouts over and over again. I hope someone can help.

I can’t make both the callout shape and its text visible. This is what I have done:– 1 Selected Callout Rounded Rectangle Tool. 2 In the context bar, set stroke colour and size. 3 Drew the callout and it appeared on its own layer with nodes, the layer's icon showing the shape. 4 Changed the fill to transparent. 5 Selected the Frame Text Tool (not Artistic Text Tool). 6 Clicked in the shape. The cursor appeared and the name of the layer changed to Shape Text. 7 In the context bar, set font colour and size. 8 While entering text, the shape disappeared, the layer's icon changed to that of the text tool. 9 On moving the cursor, the outline of the shape reappeared with nodes (not the shape itself). 10 On clicking out of the shape, the text remained visible, the shape remained invisible, the outline of the shape disappeared. If I make the layer invisible and then visible again, its name becomes the text I have entered. I was hoping the text AND the shape would be visible, the text within the shape. Reselecting the shape shows its outline with nodes and the context bar refers to the text not the shape. Is this a bug? Or have I missed something blindingly obvious? Or is it a bug that is selective of its victims? Or what? Please help! NB I have achieved success with a work-around: entering artistic text on one layer and the shape on another, then aligning them – I can’t find this described in the Help pages.

Hello, I'm sure this must be possible but I cannot find it: How can I add a link (in particular a http(s):// url and a mailto: link) to a text? So that clicking on the text in the exported PDF opens the web browser / e-mail client (or does whatever else is configured for the PDF viewer for such links). Thanks -
Hello everyone, This is driving me nuts and I'm sure that there is a simple answer... but I can't seem to find it. I have imported a 32-pages .idml document into Affinity Publisher and the text boxes appear with 4 x's at the 4 corners of the frame... and this is making it impossible for me to select with the Type Tool, Move Tool or Selection Tool. I can’t edit the existing text i can creat a new text box and edit the text in the new box by double clicking it but that doesn’t help me please help me? -

Hey folks! I'm learning the ropes with Affinity Publisher, but there's one thing that keeps tripping me up. When I'm editing text, I frequently want to change to moving or editing the text box instead. Hitting 'v' requires me to first move to the mouse and then find somewhere to click off, which doesn't always register, and sometimes draws an unwanted text box. It's a mess. Firstly I'm used to inkscape, where having the tools mapped to F keys is fantastic because you can hit 'F1' to change to the move tool whether you're editing text or not. I've remapped move to F1 so I can press it when editing text, and that's a great start. But in (heaven help us) Microsoft Word, there's the ability to toggle between editing text, and editing the text container, by pressing F2. It'd be fantastic if this functionality was in Affinity - is it somewhere that I'm missing? Thanks! -
Illustrator allows creation of a curved (or straight) path upon which one places text before selecting whether to use ‘stairstep,’ ‘gravity,’ ‘rainbow,’ or two other FX to affect its look. The effect I cannot find (or create) in Designer is VERTICAL text on a curved (e.g., arc-ed) path. It's easy enough to create a path and place text on it, but that appears to be endgame. Text then only follows the shape of the path, skewing left or right, depending on how and where the path curves. Yes, I realise I could convert the text to curves and straighten it manually, but then it's no longer editable. Question 1: IS there a way to create vertically-oriented text along a curving path in Affinity Designer? If so, how? If not, please consider adding it. I'm fairly certain I can't be the only one asking about this … Question 2: It would be nice to place the cursor next to a character needing kerning, hold the Option key, and use the arrow keys to bring them closer or space them farther apart. As is stands now, kerning is applied to the entire word (or phrase, depending), which is rather clunky and produces less-than-satisfactory results by throwing otherwise fine kerning at other positions in the text out of whack. Can we PLEASE have kerning between individual characters to adjust spacing? Note: If it's there and I'm just not seeing it, please let me know where and how to access it. -
I can turn of snapping and do it manually but I'm wondering whether I'm doing this the right way: with a text decoration and an indent of -7.8 I'm trying to learn best practices (something I've not done for many many other applications!) Affinity_Snapping.mov -
I’m making a variety of small images for the web (320x50px for instance) and am struggling to figure out the best way to get crisp text at those sizes. I’m using Designer on the iPad to create them, but they need to be delivered as png or jpg. Obviously everything is fine as vector inside of Designer, but what is the best way to export those designs to keep them from getting too pixelated? I’m sure they’ll lose some crispness no matter what I do, but I’m hoping to keep the quality as high as I can. I do also have Photo if that’s helpful. -
When grouping objects and converting them into an Asset, the text of a text box is shrunk when the Asset is placed on a new page. Furthermore it is not possible to place the Asset in the document from which it came. The Asset vanishes from the cursor when dragging the Asset from the Asset panel to the canvas. Hi, This is my first attempt at using Affinity Designer and have come to a hurdle; I am trying to edit the text on an existing logo that was created in AI. I cannot seem to be able to select the text, is this maybe because it has been rasterised? Is there a way I can do this please? Thanks.

This is the second time I am writing about terrible support for Khmer fonts in the Affinity suite. The first time I wrote, I provided sample fonts and images to show how the fonts are supposed to be rendered. AD and AP still do not have it corrected. I have up to this point been a fanboy for Affinity products, telling lots of people about Affinity. Yet the over the course of many and major updates, this problem, which is a show-stopper for my using Affinity, has not been corrected. And I know others in this forum have requested this problem be fixed as well. As a Khmer speaker, I am still willing to provide any support or files needed to facilitate fixing these bugs. Here is my previous topic that I posted in the forum. It was nicely marked (pre-1.7), and yet 1.7 has not fixed the issue. Thanks. Adam EDIT: I am working in MacOS Mojave. -
Hi! How can I scale text boxes together with their contents (ADesinger and APublisher)? When I scale using the handles, only the box scales - the font remains as large or small as it is. Thanks for answers! -

hi there, I will preface this with saying I've just came to affinity photo from photoshop, I'm self-taught with PS so i can't even say I know much about that either! I'm a boardgame designer and I'm using affinity photo to create cards, which are a combination of text and icons. On PS when creating space at the end of a text line it would include the spaces as characters for centre alignment purposes, but I can't seem to give spaces any 'volume' in photo now that i've opened the PSD in affinity. I've tried using special characters and playing about with paragraph options but don't want to mess about with it too much, any ideas? The simpler the explanation the better, I'm a noob! -
OMFG!!! Just switching over from Photoshop, and I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate working with text. I can't edit my text once I've created it — not with any tool. WTF?!!! And in the layers I have groups with all the letters? Who thought this shit up? -
The text cursor in AP 1.9.1 is wonky. I created a text block. When I insert the text cursor at the beginning of the last line to add a space, the whole working area shifts to the left and the cursor shifts off the "artboard". I quit AP, restart, and it still behaves the same way . . .

Hello. Not sure of the correct terminology to use for a forum search, but I would like to cut text out from a shape that has a solid colour fill? Any ideas where to look for info on this type of technique? Much appreciated. Cheers
