See Pic attached. After unsuccessfully trying to replicate a chrome layer style in Designer I was about to give up and chalk this up to Designer just doesn't have the goods, BUT IT DOES! After studying the differences in both apps, I saw that a layer style in PS is going to be created differently in AP or AD. I studied why I wasn't getting the chromey effect in AD, I realized that PS has a gloss contour built into their bevel panel, and AD doesn't so I was stumped a while. Soon realized that gloss contour is almost the same or same as a curves adjustment so after tinkering more I came up with this cool chrome CUSTOM effect! AFFINITY ROCKS!!!- 23 replies

Hi! In Affinity Designer to apply effects to text and objets is made via Layer - Layer effects. In Affinity Photo there is no the same way. Layer effects des not exist. Go to Studio - Effects. I know that it seems something obvious, but for people that use a lot Affinity Designer could get lost finding a way to do the same effects to a text or/and a object in both applications. I do not know how this effects are applied in Affinity Publisher but I hope that I buy soon the third application of the suite -

Ive been playing around with text effects again This time I've put together some old wooden 3d effects that look like they have come from the wild west. Like the rest of the text effects i've been doing these contain layers, live filters and effects I save them as assets for reusable and editable effects

Hi, Quick question, I'm a newbie to the Affinity Designer Software. I want to create a text portrait (see image example below) but I am not seeing any tutorials on Youtube. Any tips? And can it be done on Designer or do I need to purchase Affinity Photo? Thanks! -
I'm a new user to Affinity and I'm looking for a tutorial on how to add text to an image that looks like it was written in sand. I've googled this and can only find tutorials for Photoshop. Anyone have experience with this and can provide instruction? -
Does Affinity Designer have any vector based text effects, apart from the tool of converting an object or a curve into a path to type text along? What if I want text to start off at a set height, and then taper down. For example, the Star Wars opening credits. How would you do that in Affinity Designer? When I use the warp function in Affinity Photo, on a vectorised text, it automatically converts it to a pixel layer. I want the vector information to remain intact. -
Hi all. Is there an effects option that I'm missing for fonts? Like in Illustrator you can bloat, pucker, fish eye, etc. your font. I'm trying to achieve the attached. Sorry technical words are not coming to me at this moment.- 1 reply

Possible warp text effects on the horizon? Would make a great addition to this great app! (wishlist: 3d extrude)
