  1. I'd been using an application called Comic Life to make some presentations. There are some nice aspects of the app, but it's a bit tedious - What I need to do is create text containers that will have stroked outlines as well as fill. I know one can make a text frame out of shapes but I can't seem to apply a stroke (or see one) after a conversion. What am I missing here?
  2. I have discovered an issue when pasting text from Mac Pages and Mac Mail documents. My clients usually send word documents for copy that I view in Pages, and I then copy and paste the text into the Designer document. I noticed that some of the text that I copy and paste is thicker and doesn't print as clearly than some others. It took me a while to find any discernible difference in texts because I could have two different text boxes with the same fonts, including font size, weight, spacing, and stroke, etc. I noticed that in the text boxes that have the slightly thicker fuzzier printing text that the typography buttons for ordinals and fractions were greyed out, whereas the text boxes that were more precise and clear were not. Unfortunately, I was not able to solve the problem easily by clicking the ordinals and fractions buttons as they were greyed out. On the clearer text boxes, these buttons were clickable, but not on the others. I've discovered that this happens whenever I cut and paste something from Pages or Mac Mail (have not tried any other programs but I assume it is with any text that is formatted). I've tried this with a number of fonts, and it's the same issue with any font that I use, so the problem is not with a specific font, it's with pasting formatted text from one program into a text box in Designer. If I paste the copy into Text Editor first and then paste it into the text box the ordinals and fractions boxes stay clickable. The only issue then is that I lose all formatting... clients often send documents with partial formatting that definitely saves time. Can anyone provide some insight into what is happening here and how I might solve this issue? Thanks!
  3. Hi! I'm a very new user, well sort of. I looked through and found a post that sounded similar to my question but I'm not sure 100% of they are talking about the same thing. In indesign there is a feature when you create text, that you can right click on the textbox and fit frame to content. It basically resets the box to the edges of the text if you happen to stretch it out. This is very helpful is you start to align different text boxes on the page. Is there something in Affinity that will allow me to do these without having to manually drag the box back to the edges of the text? I scanned one post and saw a 'command enter' and I thought it did what I wanted but instead it turned the text to curves :D Many thanks!!
  4. As a veteran Corel Draw user, after 48 hours i immediately found Affinity Desinger truly fascianating. Its fast, smooth and im glad Affinity adopts solutions from Illustrator and Corel too, and im expremely happy that AFD is available for Windows already. I would be ready to change my workflow to continue daily work with Affinity only but there are few things i really miss. Please consider to implement these things: - Swatches part1: To me its awfully slow to choose the right colour of fill/stroke to an object. This is what i truly hate in Illustrator too. In CorelDraw there is a very simple way to do that: Palettes are always visible on the right side of the screen - RGB, CYMK or any palettes you want. Left click to fill, right click to stroke. It makes the procedure lightning fast. - Swatches part2: There is no way to work comfortably with swatches (saying as a Corel user). I would love to see them all the time on the side, and use the colour wheel only if its neccessary. Also i really wanna know what colour im actually using on an object. CorelDraw is amazing in that case. See the attached picture. Working with text: In Corel there is an option to move each letter independently in the letter boksz with the Shape Tool. As far as i know there is no option for that in AFD yet. These may seem small things, but it truly fastens the process while working on a complex graphic, without clicking a bunch of times across the screen. If u could make these options available somehow im sure more and more users would be ready to change to Affinity. Thanks and respect for your brilliant work, Dear Affinity Team!
  5. or Is there a way to turn Text Frames into Artistic Text. I am trying to quickly resize the frame to the text. Thanks!
  6. I want to create a text box, with rounded corners and a background colour. Some of the text, I want to have different background and foreground colours from the rest. Unfortunately my 10 days has expired, so I can not try this. Thanks mcl
  7. Is there a way to make text inside a text box align to center, as it is now it is aligned to top. Didn't see this feature in paragraph or character panel.
  8. When will it be possible to select not only the first character in a text box as snapping candidate?
  9. Using the text tool, when I want to change the text box, change the width, is the letters supposed to stretch with it? How can I change the text box without it affecting the letters? and is it possible to deselect the text tool without having to click on another layer?
  10. Why does a standard return press give me a double line leading? Should be just a single line, equivalent to leading set. Or are there settings that I'm not seeing?
