  1. If you make a copy of a global color the new color will have the exact same name as the original. This causes all sorts of problems since no two swatches should have the same name. Steps to reproduce: Create a new global color in the Swatches panel, notice the name Right click it and choose Make Copy Check the name of the new global color, it's the exact same as the original Strangely, this does not happen to regular colors. If you make a copy of a regular color the app will always change the copy's name. Thanks!
  2. I like to work with a list of swatches and give all colors/swatches my own name. But with long lists it takes a long time to rename all swatches the way the interface is build now (look at video below). What we have to do rightnow for all items in the swatches list, each time to rename: Rightclick a swatch Move the mouse to the right where a menu popped up on a different location, move to the 'Rename Global Color' (or normal color) menu-item and click Move the mouse to the input dialog which is on yet another completely different screenlocation so we have to move the mouse all over to the left We need to click the inputfield first and select the text in it to overwrite it Type the new name Click on OK or press enter-key to confirm This is a pretty inefficient workflow when renaming a full list of swatches (or styles), it takes way too many steps and we have to move the mouse all the time and switch between keyboard and mouse. What I would like to do instead: Two clicks on the swatch so the swatch-textlabel changes into an input field in which the current name show and is already selected to overwrite Enter the new name Press enter or tab to confirm So no more mouse moves from right and than completely to the left, just two clicks on the same location and the rest typing in and confirming with the keyboard. Not sure why Serif has chosen a completely different (and much more inefficient) UX approach for the swatches and styles panels compared to renaming the layers in the layers panel. I don't understand, because the layers-panel has such a nice and proven fast workflow to rename items which most people understand intuitively and already use in other software too. So please make renaming swatches and styles the same as renaming in the layers panel! That would speed up the workflow so much and makes the repetitive task of renaming items so much more efficient. Thanks! Compare this (renaming swatches and styles how it is now)...: renaming-swatches-takes-a-long-time.mp4 To this... (renaming layers, like how swatches and styles could have the same UX): renaming-layers.mp4
  3. As yet I have not found any way to group swatches, like we can have sublayers under a top layer. This would be very useful when one has so many swatches that one has to scroll to find them. Up to now I simply put is a "title swatch" (a color I do not use) and make an artificial heading for swatches that are common to that part of my work. A group-type approach to swatches would be great.
  4. I am looking for a way to set the colour name automatically based on colour value in Affinity Designer. When you change a colour value in a Indesign document, it automatically changes the colour name accordingly within the swatches window. It's a huge timesaver. When you add a colour to the swatches panel, Affinity applies the colour value name. However when I change a existing colour within the swatches panel, it shows the previously colour value. It looks like I have to manually change the colour value. How can I do that in Affinity Designer or Affinity Publisher?
  5. I'm preparing to remove all Adobe products from my system. I wanted to know if there are any presets from Photoshop that I should keep because they can be used by Affinity Photo. I understand that Adobe brushes can be installed in Affinity Photo, but I'm not absolutely certain. Are there any other parts of Photoshop I should save for use in Affinity Photo? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hey guys, One thing that keeps bugging me when I open a project that I'm working on is that the first thing I have to do is switch to the respective Document Palette from the Default Palette. Wouldn't it make more sense for a document to remember this and just select the last Document Palette you used (in case you have more than one) when opening a .afdesign file? Or at least give us an option in the Palette menu to set that Document Palette as default for that specific document. This would be nice as well. What do you think? Thanks in advance, Cristian
  7. I want to see improvements for the panel swatches. It is very useful to see its numeric value next to the color name in the current color mode.
  8. Doesn't seem to be possible - or am I just being stupid …? Also could there be a way - if there isn't already to layer shapes on top of a photo…? I'm redecorating my bedroom at the moment and I've laboriously converted all the colours I'm considering into RGB and Hex values, I just need a way of playing around with them. I don't see any way of adding additional swatches to a palette (it is almost 03:30 though, but I do better at night). Yes, I know that screen colours are not going to be the same as the actual paint (wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a way of reconciling them somehow, some kind of intermediary colour space).I've already found that one green I was considering was far bluer 'in the flesh' than it was on Dulux's website.
  9. Here is the set of gradients "WEB 2.0 v.3" converted from the free .grd Photoshop file. I downloaded the PS gradient file from this site and converted it into .afpalette. It's a pity that creating .afpalette files from .grd files is so time-consuming, I hope that in the upcoming versions of Affinity programs, the ability to import the .grd file will be added, just like it is with files .abr WEB 2.0 v.3 gradients.afpalette
  10. Affinity Photo Reset individual included Swatches to Default. For example one may want to reset Greys or Colors or Gradients to default after adding those that you no longer need.
  11. Affinity Photo: How to Reset Color Swatches Palette to default? In Swatches Affinity Color Palette Gray I've added Swatches. After doing that I don't seem to see a way to reset it back to the default Grey Swatches. How would I do that?
  12. Could we please have a tint slider in Swatches in addition to opacity.
  13. The ability to group global colors into schemes by saving the state of the entire group. Individual global color could be changed and save the new group state as a new scheme. This would allow having multiple color schemes for a group and change the look of the entire document merely by switching color schemes.
  14. I keep color swatch books for all my clients. Coming from Adobe, I can just create a swatch collection for each client and upload to Creative Cloud. Then when I need to work on something for that client I simply load their folder and have all my swatches ready to use. I thought I could do the same thing with Affinity's Palette system, but I am running into issues. In order for a Palette to be available to all Affinity programs, I have to make System Palettes. It works, except when it comes to saving Spot colors (I need a set of Pantone colors). When I try to save a Pantone swatch in the System palette, the swatch gets saved to a new Document palette instead. This does me no good because next time I start a new document, I have to go looking for all the swatches. Furthermore, I cannot make them Global. Am I missing something? Or will I have to create an Application palette each time and export that to import into the other 2 programs every time? That will get annoying if I have to update their color schemes down the road.
  15. Dear Team! So far, I do love your apps :-) One thing I would love to see is a common color swatch/palette management. In other words, having one common color palette database used by all the programs would help to keep consistency. Maybe that's somehow possible in future versions. Cheers, Chris
  16. Hi, I'm new to Affinity, enjoying it a lot, still much to discover. Is there a shortcut to reset the black and white swatches? cheers Geoffrey
  17. Hi Guys, I need your help. I haven’t seen a tutorial of how to make a swatch or import a swatch or what files are supported for that. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Alex
  18. Why is it the set of colors different from the layers panel to the options bar?
  19. Hi Folks, I am new to Affinity Designer. I have 3 questions related to the swatches panel: Is there a way to resize the panel? A lot of space is wasted on swatches that only have a handful of colors. I accidentally deleted a couple swatches when I was playing around trying to remove colors from a particular swatch (note to self: "delete palette" does not mean "clear pallet"). They were default swatches. Is there a way to get them back? Is there a way to change the swatch color tooltip value from RGB to Hex (or anything else for that matter)? Thanks in advance! john
  20. Just released a second color palette with support for Affinity's .afpalette format. It's a set of bright, happy colors to lighten up any illustration or design. Get it at creativemarket
  21. Hi, So when it comes to colors, here´s a little suggestion what could be done to improve the workflow when you start your document and decide to use swatches and improve your colours. dont look at the design of my idea, rather look at the idea... When you creat colour chords, right now , you can select a colour and right click, select from some possibilitys like Complementary, Triadic and so on.. I would like a funktion to open a window like shown, get an optical representation inside of the color wheel and adjust my colors by just rotaiting in this example my colors, to change them, than just move some triangles or points, to adjust the amount of the color split, and than just klick load them to my palette.. only maybe, could it be possible for the program, to use my underlaying actual image, and interactive while rotating, moving and adjusting my Color Chord , somehow change interactive also the most corresponding olors of the opend image ? not sure how this could be possible.. but the first part, just creating color chords this way, as it is allready possible in many video edditing programs, would be an improvement.. maybe put it to your whishlists.. greetings
  22. Hi everyone, i was asked how to use the swatches pannel. i didnt use it untill now. So does there exist any nice videotutorial , to learn it faster but to read the help files ? thanks
  23. I wanted a base palette that I could use on my illustrations, with a range of shades, and highlights/shadows for each. So I made my own: It's a good starting point for illustrations, icons & UI work. There's more than 100 swatches, nicely organized. Comes in several formats, of course .afpalette included. Grab it over at CreativeMarket!
  24. I'm working in AD 1.6. As before, I can chose the option I want in the Swatches pane under Appearance and the change remains. However, when I click "Fill" or "Stroke" in the Context Toolbar, the default is "Color" and there does not appear to be a way to change that. Thus, if I want "Swatches" in the Context Toolbar (in "Fill" or "Stroke"), I must each time go through the same process. It would really be nice to change this default to "Swatches" or some other option and have it remain so when I go there again, and when I bring up the doc again.
  25. I used this palette a lot so I decided to make an Afiinity version and share it if other people are interested Have fun with the color :) Original palette here DC Comics 375.afpalette
