I would like to use the colour picker to sample the appearance (style) from an object on the canvas, which it should apply to the objects I have selected. To me that's easier than copying objects and pasting styles. The reason for this is that I can change the selection and then switch to the eye dropper rather easily. It's a workflow many of us have been using in Illustrator and when I switched back to Illustrator after having used designer for a while, I feel like I am missing out on this in Designer.

In Microsoft Word, it is possible to select all occurrences of a given format and then apply a new or different style. This is very helpful when importing text from different Word files that different formatting. I cannot find how to do this so I suspect this is a feature request. Thank you in advance.

I have a large document with some 250 pictures inside Picture Frames. I have decided to change the look of all by adding a color Stroke, and a rounded corner set at 2%. Is there any way to make these hundreds of changes in "bulk" - with one command instead of doing each manually? That would save me many hours of work.

How do I remove a Style from an object if I decide I don't like the effect? Is there a way, other than opening History and going back past it there? Undo does not work. A right/click on the Style button offers Rename or Delete, which sounds like it would apply to the Style itself rather than the application of.

Any chance there will be a Caption feature in Publisher? Preferably one that works better than InDesign does! Essentially, you'd set up a paragraph style for photo captions, then right click an image and tell it to insert the caption (either static or live). Even more awesome would be if there was a better way to automatically say how it should line up (with the bottom edge of the caption level with the bottom edge of the photo, etc.) and to expand (up/down or sideways) to allow for the amount of text in the caption. Attaching IDs current settings for this feature, though only for clarification on what I'm talking about. :-)

One thing I have missed for a long time is the ability to copying and pasting individual Layer Effects. What I mean is that I have a set of Layer Effects which I have spent a long time tweaking saved in a Styles Group. And I have another set of Layer Effects which I've also spent a long time tweaking saved in Styles. I wish there was a way of copying some elements from one style and combining it with elements from the other style. When copying and pasting styles and effects they overwrite other styles and effects already applied to an object. Especially gradient outlines and overlays in the Layer Effects panel are a nightmare. There is no way of copying them as far as I know, and so the only solution is to make new gradients from scratch, which is enormously time consuming. It would be an enormous time saver to be able to copy, say an outline gradient from one object and an overlay gradient from another object - and of course other effects as well - on an individual, effect by effect basis. I envision an "effects palette", where you could pick for example the 3D effect settings from one object, the overlay gradient settings from a second object and the outline effects from a third object, apply them all to the object you're working on, and when you're happy with the result, maybe even be able to save the settings of this "palette" as a new style or as an "effects palette preset", where the individual settings can be tweaked further, enabled, disabled and combined with new effects picked from other objects and/or styles.

Is there a way in Affinity Designer to quickly copy a text style? In Illustrator it was fairly easy to do that with the eye dropper too since that worked both as a colour picker as well as a text style picker. I just want to be able to select a text block and quickly apply the style and format of another text block. I can't seem to find a quick way in Affinity Designer. Thanks!

Hi We publish a monthly magazine using Affinity and it is produced by different compilers each month. I receive this to put it online but when I download all the titles are showing with a different one specified by the style that has been applied. (See attachments) I need to go into each text block and apply the style again. My question is there anyway to get the document to autoupdate itself so that it applies the styles properly rather than going into each box an reapplying what it should be showing? Thanks. (I did loook to see if this problem had come up before but couldn't find anything)

Hi, while working with text in Designer I created a style. Then while working with text using a different font and size I applied the style. To my surprise this added the style but changed the font and font size to the original style. Is there a setting I am missing as I extensively use styles in Photoshop because using 'scale with object' switched off does not work. Transfering the document to Photo together with the style, the style does not create the same changes. I love the Affinity products especially being able to try changes 'on the fly' but find little things frustrating. Can Serif get to version 2.0 so people have to re-purchase/upgrade the product so you can recruite extra staff to get rid of the niggles.

When defining custom object styles, AFD lets me create new ones only when I delete existing styles. For example, I defined a line style for a dashed line. If I also want to define a line style with a solid line, the 'Add Style from Selection' action does not work. Same goes for fill styles. In general, I would also expect there to be an 'update style from selection' item, which there apparently isn't, which should affect all objects a particular style was applied to, similar to global colors.

Hi Folks, I'm after some help again.... So I really admire two very very good automotive photographers... Amy Shore and Laurent Nivalle. Both have a similar(ish) style and this extends to their editing process. I have read numerous interviews with both of them and they both mainly use Photoshop (Sorry to swear!) rather than lightroom and I am very keen to try and re-caprture their respective styles but by using Affinity Photo. I have attached two files which are photos from both Laurent and Amy respectively. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to try and obtain the same style? Obviously I don't want to be copying their styles out right as that is not what photography is all about but I am very curious as to how to achieve this. Thanks folks, hope you can help. Regards Mark All credit for the attached two images go to Amy and Laurent.

Would be nice if you could add an option to sync style(font and size) between a text object and belonging inline text objects.

Hello all, Something I have noticed throughout all three applications... When I use Indesign, I replace a word in a sentence and it replaces that word with the same font style etc in the box. If I do it in publisher, I loose the text formatting for the word in the box. I then have to replace the new word font with the current font in the sentence. if I do it in photo and designer the same thing happens. If I lay out an entire magazine, and have to change a single word in a paragraph, it should automatically replace the work when I paste it in, with the same font and formatting style that was in place. It should not replace the word in the text box with a random font.. Am I the only on that seems to find this strange.... Or have I missed a setting or a check box that stops this from happening in all three applications...

Hi forum, On both Photo and Designer, I'm often confused by when my vector stroke styles are either inherited from the last object I create or not. I can't work out the rules for how this happens - can anyone advise on how to control this behaviour either way? Similar issues when I just want to draw a new vector with a new fill colour. So I might select the previous vector layer because I want to insert a new object in front of it. This object will always inherit the style of the one I have selected, which is often not what I want, and can make it hard to see the new shape. I have to change the fill and stroke afterward to stand out against the underlying object. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here!!

Hello, I have created several text effects, which I would like to share with you. The first three effects are the most interesting. Effects one and two use live scattering filters and blur to create a stamping effect on normal text/fonts. The second effect adds a noise filter to simulate heavy wear, which is different one every letter. The third effect is the typical vintage 3D effect. The effects are created by layering several live filters and effects. 4 and 5 are just tests/bonus. :-) Advantage: The effects and the text remains editable. Disadvantage: Memory and processor have to work more. The recommended application is to open the text effect file in another window, enter the desired text and then copy over the group. Use the effects in your work as you like. (Public Domain) (But please don't sell the text effects as such.) Have fun, Martin Stamp-Vintage-3D-Text-Effects(Forum-Affinity-MartinB78).afphoto

It is my understanding that the Texture Line Style is controlled by the Brushes studio in Designer but, since there is no Brushes studio in Publisher, what does it do? I can’t seem to find any way of altering what it does and it acts the same as the Solid Line Style. The ‘preview’ in the Context Toolbar changes but the line stays the same. Am I misunderstanding what is supposed to happen?
