  1. Hi, after the update today I noticed that Unsplash is missing in the Stock Panels of all three apps. Is there a good reason for it or is it a bug? I'm on Windows 10.
  2. In the stock panel we list a selection of stock image providers for the convenience of our customers on the basis of it being a free service. Unfortunately in the case of Unsplash they have begun demanding license fees for their API which is the reason they have been removed. The good news is this only affects Unsplash, the other options of Pixbay and Pexels continue to be available. Of course should you wish to use Unsplash images you can download directly from their website using a browser and then import into your Affinity apps by drag & drop or File -> Place, as you would with any other stock library not listed in the panel.
  3. Please consider adding Openclipart to the stock panel which has a huge library of free public domain vectors. API: https://openclipart.org/api/docs/ API Turorial: https://openclipart.org/api/tutorial
  4. Hi Affinity, I'm fairly certain I found an issue that can be solved quickly, although it appears the sock image viewer already had bugs crashing the app for many users. If the STOCK image fetcher doesn't have scroll bars it won't fetch more images upon scrolling down. As you can see in the attached photo that I moved the stock panel to the left side so I could drop it into the layer panel directly where the image should be placed. To my surprise it seems that if the window doesn't have a scroll bar then it won't fetch more images. This was confirmed by undocking the STOCK tab to a floating doc as you can see in the 2nd screenshot, resizing the height a little smaller until the scrollbar appeared. Once I did that it fetched more images upon scrolling down. Aside from the STOCK dock being a bit buggy, it looks to me that the STOCK image fetcher should exclusively have the scroll bars visible under all conditions or else it will never trigger the fetch more images function apparently tied to it. As always Affinity Designer is lightyears ahead of my Inkscape bottlenecked workflow and have appreciated the quality and effort put into developing and making available to us a program that allows us to remain in our creative zone. Thank you Jordan
  5. Affinity Photo crashes when stock photos tab are being used. Using Unsplash images cause the program to close.
  6. As the title reads, my Affinity Photo 1.91 on Windows 10 crashes instantly when i import Stock Images from the "Unsplash" libaries. But only these. Images from the other libaries (Pexels;Pixaby) can be imported with no problem at all. When it crashes, the programm instantly closes, there is no lagging, loading or freezing. I hope you can help me with that, thanks in advance.
  7. Hi all, WIth the latest Beta I'm unable to load (drag and drop) any picture from Unsplash. Pexels and Pixabay works fine though. Cheers, Juan
  8. I'm using a trial licensed Affinity Publisher 1.9.1 on macOS. I am unable to drag and drop from stock. This is quite frustrating given that I'm trying to evaluate to purchase the software. See Attaché gif.
  9. Dragging stock image from Unsplash into document causes APh to crash. Works fine for Pixabay and Pexels. I tried rebooting the whole machine and it still happens. Double clicking Unsplash image gets you to image on the Unsplash site, so it seems to be working there...
  10. The stock panel is nice but I often face difficulty judging the photo in smaller size.
  11. Would be great to have access to Icons8 library of icons right in Designer.
  12. Hello, I work on the same documents both at the office and home using a portable Hard Drive. I was wondering if was possible to link one Assets file on the portable HD so I don't have keep reloading assets to keep both locations updated? Also I have a large number of image files I use everyday and wondered if it's possible to use the stock window to link to a folder in your system or a portable HD for easy access and searching. Thanks, -Kevin
  13. The stock works perfectly most of the time. But some images/vectors will just not load into my document when dragging them onto it. It looks like this happens for some specific authors. Could anyone quickly check the following: use the "stock", select "Pixabay", check the "Vectors" checkbox in the search box type: "user:AnnaliseArt" and hit enter as a search result many vector graphics appear try to drag and drop some of them into your document I can load NONE of those results into my document. I drag a graphic from the results onto my document, release the mouse button, but then no graphic appears in my document, it is just not there (but the popup box with the author's info does appear). In the pic below you can see this (even the layers tab does not show anything). Are there some file types Affinity can't load via the stock function?
  14. I've been trying to upload an EPS created in AD to Shutterstock for past few days. I saved it with rasterise nothing. Initially, I thought this might have happened as a mistake from reviewer. Anyhow, re-submission got rejected too. Rejection reason: Linked Images / Bitmaps / Raster Effects: Vectors containing linked images, bitmaps, and/or raster effects are not acceptable. I tried to examine the file, but couldn't find any raster effects (vector does have gradients, but haven't used any blend modes, layer effects or adjustments). I don't know how to check for linked images although I've not used any image placements in the design! Is it possible inspect the file for linked images in AD? I can upload the file privately if Serif team could look at it. Else here is a similar test EPS created in AD. Shapes are positioned similar to the original with same export settings. test.eps
  15. Offering Stock Images is a great feature. When using Unsplash as source the Copyright Credits pop up as Info. Would be perfect to streamline the production process by generating an automatic text object with this credit content. Up to now I have to make a screenshot quickly before it desappears. Maybe as an option checkbox directly in the top area of the stock panel? If checked, Object will be generated in the center of the picture on top of it. PowerPoint 2019 has solve it already like that. After selecting content from an online source and inserting it into a PowerPoint slide an additional editable object below the picture with copyright credits appears. Thanks.
  16. Hi, I recently purchased Publisher and have an issue when I search for stock images. They take a long time to load and then everything freezes within the programme. When I scroll the images and more try to load the same thing happens. They do load eventually but it very slow and not entirely usable like this. I have also noticed that in certain situations, similar freezes happen with the Photo app too. I am using a fairly new laptop with an i7 processor and 16gb GB ram, and I do not experience lag/freezing issues within other programmes. Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.
  17. I have tried to retrieve images from Unsplash through the Stock panel in Publisher several times and repeatedly get the message "Connection Failed." I can however use the link to go to the website. This problem also exists in Affinity Photo. Is there a fix for this? Unsplash has undoubtedly better images and a larger selection. While downloading from their website is not such a big problem, it does complicate the workflow and I believe solving that was the point of including the Stock panel feature.
  18. Is it by design that you can't open or download images from the stock studio panel if no document is open?
  19. Hi, Affinity Forum! I recently purchased AD and AP to scratch an itch and start doing more of my own graphics design work. As I become accustomed to the software and develop my design skills, I lean on stock graphics websites for things I can't yet build myself. The problem is that I'm having a very hard time finding graphics and illustrations that can be reliably managed by AD/AP. It didn't take me long to figure out that free graphics are out, which is just as well because those sites are a nightmare to navigate. I also found that with many inexpensive graphics, AD would either report that the file doesn't contain a PDF stream so it can't be opened, or it would automatically assign a color palette to the file and it would look too distorted to use. Based on my experience, I think the problem isn't with AD/AP but my graphics sourcing. I've had a little bit of luck with VectorStock, but I haven't found any websites that track the kind of compatibility features that AD needs (like a PDF stream for .ai files). Has anyone come up with guidelines for AD/AP-safe stock graphics or identified any sites that are consistently reliable? Shutterstock seems like the obvious choice, but I want to see if there are any less expensive alternatives, or at least any sites that sell assets individually. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
  20. Hi, The Stock panel worked for me in Beta of Photo, but with release of the final version I get "connection failed". I'm working on W10. Any ideas?
  21. I'm using the latest versions (1.7.1) of both Affinity Photo – and Affinity Publisher (1.7.1). This crash is consistently reproducible. Steps to reproduce: Open Affinity Photo 1.7.1 (or Publisher 1.7.1) Create new blank document Go to Stock panel Search Unsplash - instant crash Searching the two other Stock sources, Pexels and Pixabay, seems to be robust. OS: macOS High Sierra (10.13.6) See this 33 second video in case I'm missing anything from the description: affinity Stock crashes-Video only.mp4 No new software nor hardware installed recently that might explain this. Curiously, I tried this feature briefly on my office iMac yesterday and all three worked there. On my roughly similarly specced and configured iMac at home, there are consistent crashes when searching Unsplash in both Photo and Publisher. Today was the first time I have tried the Stock search at home. I wondered at first if I might have caused a problem when adding a rule to my 3rd-party firewall, Little Snitch. But the problem persists even when LS is stopped, so almost certainly not relevant. You can see I actually turn it off first in the video. I've attached the two most recent crash logs from Photo and Publisher for your enjoyment. Let me know if I can add anything that might help… Affinity Photo_2019-06-21-171012_iMac27.crash Affinity Publisher_2019-06-21-143220_iMac27.crash
  22. The Stock panel looks like it could be very useful but I have some questions about its use: 1. Are all of the images presented totally free to use without any restrictions? For example, images with identifiable people may need extra permission to use legally but there is no mention of this in the Stock panel for the specific images where it might apply. How can someone be sure whether the image is usable for their purposes without going to the relevant page on the website - which undermines the usefulness of the Stock panel? (The Help mentions “Commercial” and “Model Released” but I can’t see these anywhere on-screen.) 2. Is there a way to find out the dimensions/orientation of the image before I drag it out of stock? Since all of the thumbnails are square I can’t see if the image is portrait or landscape, which is often useful to know. 3. Is there a way to restrict/choose the size of the image before I drag it to a document? If I am editing a document for web/screen-use it might be useful to be able specify a lower resolution/size rather than always automatically getting the largest possible image. 4. How does Publisher calculate the size of an image file it gets from Stock? For example, downloading an image https://pixabay.com/photos/fantasy-beautiful-dawn-sunset-sky-3077928/ from Pixabay itself gives me a 1.83MB file (see first attached image) whereas when I import the same image from the Stock panel, Publisher is reporting that the image is 41.09MB (see second attached image), which is a very big difference. As I said earlier, the Stock panel looks like it could be useful but, if I don’t know what I’m getting from it, it becomes less useful and, potentially, problematic when it comes to things like licences.
  23. Good evening, Whenever I go under the Stock tab to load images, Pexels and Pixabay work fine, but Unsplash displays the error message "Failed to connect" I do not understand why. Is there a solution to remedy this problem? Thanking you
  24. I am having a problem with the latest version of Affinity Photo for Windows (1.7.1.404). Previously, when importing an image from the Stock image browser, the image loaded almost instantly. Now, the image takes roughly 2 minutes to load, if at all. Most of the time, it freezes Affinity Photo and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and restart.
  25. I have some problem with EPS8 exported from Affinity always have a big size of artboard when open in AI (illustrator) (stock agency rejected). Not so sure is it about compatibility issue? Is it possible to have an original artboard size for final EPS8 or anyone have the solution for final EPS8 from Affinity for the stock market? - Thanks in advanced.
