  1. Below you see two objects, each 7-pointed stars with different settings. One, as you can see, has been rotated. But where one light grey "element" meets the other, it should be exactly at the outer spikes of the darker star. Why isn't it, or rather: how can I get the spikes to exactly meet the inner points of the grey star? In the second pic you can see the misalignment even better. TIA, Helmar

With the double star, you can move both inner radius and point radius to 100%, whereas the star tool's inner radius is clamped to be no farther out than the straight edge (the percent depends on how many points there are) I would like to be able to make shapes like the one on the left, which works because it uses double star, but without being limited to multiples of 2.
  3. Why are the smart star shapes bounding boxes extend past the actual size of the shape, and therefore the overall shape size includes this too. This is not the case with other smart shapes.
  4. When drawing a star and snap to a squared document for some reason the star is having some padding and therefor not snapping to the document bounds. I don't see any reason why the star would not stretch up to the document bounds. I don't get it. Am I missing something here? star-size-and-position.mp4

It seems to me the shape tools that are based on polygons -- Polygon, Star, Double Star, Cloud, Square Star, and possibly others -- are all slightly under-featured, and would be better combined into a single thing. As a point of reference, look at the polygon tool in Scribus. Is there a reason not to make all of this a single tool, with the features Scribus has plus the features Affinity P has? And, like, what does "curve %" mean, anyway? make a heptagon and set the curve to -100% -- certainly it could go deeper than that. So what is that 100% of? and why limit it to ±100%? what is a Cloud but a polygon with > 100% curve? and why can't I add curve to a star? See also the "inner rotation" feature in Scribus -- is there a way to get that on any of these aforementioned items? I use Scribus' polygon tool -- which is still too limiting, but much freer -- to make a lot of interesting shapes that I don't seem to be able to get out of Affinity. That said, you have some nice ones they don't, e.g. the square star cutouts -- but i'd love to see you marry the two approaches and give us even more, here.

  9. Hello, In doing astrophotography, these two features are really essential. I really love using AP for editing, but it becomes nearly impossible to with astrophotography because it's missing these two features. Especially because AP has features like LAB, it could be a really great tool potentially - and I don't think (at least the median mode) is very difficult to implement. They're useful for stacking photos - when taking pictures of the night sky without a tracker, you're limited in the exposure length you can use, because the Earth is rotating. To get a useful picture, you really need an exposure with at least ISO 3200, making very noisy images. The solution is to take multiple pictures and align them in post, and then use a median filter to remove the noise (which is incredibly effective). It's useful for other things as well - basically any noise reduction. There are perfectly clear stacks of images taken at ISO 25,600 or higher - and the median filter can get rid of people walking in front of a landscape, for example. My point is, these are really useful features for everyone and could add a lot to the abilities of AP and make it a very appealing software for another group of photographers.
