Just swopped from InDesign to Publisher and need to urgently send some artwork for printers. Need to add a spot colour channel. How on earth is this possible in Publisher??! I can't even find any channel view? Or am I missing something? Tight deadline and I am MEGA frustrated right now. Any help greatly appreciated! x

SInce I switched to Publisher for all my CMYK work, I thought it might be time to do the same with a project using two spot colors. But I can't find a useful way to work with it. When using overprint properties Indesign makes it possible to do that per object (line or fill). I think it would be ok, to do it upside down, like the user guide of Publisher is promoting. That would mean to make a copy of a color swatch (one overprintig, one knocking out) and to use these on all objects as one wishes. And it does even work when outputing a PDF. But there is one thing missing - a preview of how my layout actually looks when overprinting, simple WYSIWYG (I'm not even speaking about a separation preview). So that is not very useful. With CMYK colors it's quite easy - you can just use layer modes (multiply) - see, what you are doing and even get it exported in a controlled way, when using the right PDF export settings. But with spot colors I didn't get any of these exported, they always change to CMYK. I've tried all possible ways (my document is CMYK, FOGRA39 and exporting as X4, X3 or other variants didn't help; of course honour spot colors is on). Any ideas? Has anybody a real workflow for that? I keep color swatch books for all my clients. Coming from Adobe, I can just create a swatch collection for each client and upload to Creative Cloud. Then when I need to work on something for that client I simply load their folder and have all my swatches ready to use. I thought I could do the same thing with Affinity's Palette system, but I am running into issues. In order for a Palette to be available to all Affinity programs, I have to make System Palettes. It works, except when it comes to saving Spot colors (I need a set of Pantone colors). When I try to save a Pantone swatch in the System palette, the swatch gets saved to a new Document palette instead. This does me no good because next time I start a new document, I have to go looking for all the swatches. Furthermore, I cannot make them Global. Am I missing something? Or will I have to create an Application palette each time and export that to import into the other 2 programs every time? That will get annoying if I have to update their color schemes down the road.

Hello, my client wants to print certain image in one spot colour only (no CMYK colours at all) and I would like to find a way how to do this in AD. I tried to create Gradient Map Adjustment layer and create simple gradient with spot colour on one side and white on the other. But when I export it to PDF, the spot colour is gone, only standard CMYK remains. Also I noticed that when I add on top of all layers an object with spot colour, it is converted to CMYK as well even if it sits on top of all layers and should remain as it is. Another odd thing I noticed when using Gradient Map Adjustment layer is that bleeds are for some reason ignored when exporting to PDF. Attached is a test file with all layers and also two exported PDFs. First one is exported when Gradient Map Adjustment layer is enabled: spot colour and bleeds are missing. The other one is with Gradient Map Adjustment layer disabled. Bleeds are there, also spot colour for the text on top of the image is there, but of course the image itself is not toned to spot colour gradient. As Gradient Map Adjustment layer does not seem to be an option, is there anything else I can try to achieve spot colour only output? Hi Team Affinity, we are using for Digital Printing SpotColors with custom names. Example: we have to name Colors like "Spot1" for the white ink and "Spot2" for coating clear ink. Next Problem is the we using for our Zünd-Cutter SpotColors for further processing cutting and milling like "cut_Through" "cut_Kiss" etc. I am pretty sure that this SpotColor-Thing is missing by many Users. I bought Affinity-Designer like it but can´t use it without the Custom-Named-SpotColors. Regards Thomas P.S. important that the SpotColors will be in the exported PDF! See Screenshot

Hey Folks, I looked at the roadmap and saw "Pantone, Spot and Registration colours" as planned. But is there actually any option or workaround for defining/using spot colors (prefered own mixed CMYK spots or HKS)?! Thanks :)
