  1. After taking a snapshot in Foxit PDF Reader, the clipboard content does not paste into Photo or Designer. Nor does it show when "Create from Clipboard" is used. It creates a layer, but the layer is empty. The snapshot appears in other software. If you copy the original snapshot in other software and then paste into Photo, it appears.
  2. Hello there, I put together a design comp to try out various logo and tagline variations for a documentary film I am creating. The logo is a symbol, as is the tagline. From each of those, I created various thumbnails with different backgrounds and nested the symbols into new thumbnail symbols. Those resulting thumbnails are then used in a design comp on another artboard that shows them in the context of a webpage, in this case a mockup of Netflix so I can compare against the branding of other films and see how my ideas stand out in context. So far, so good. I update the logo, the change cascades into the thumbnails, which in turn cascade into the comp. To save each variation, I created a snapshot (Logo 1). I then updated the logo in the source symbol, adjusted it's size and position in each thumbnail, and saved a snapshot (Logo 2). My intention is to create snapshots for each logo so I can recall them, export them, and compare the comps side-by-side to decide which logo to move forward with. This is my workaround until Designer has something akin to Layer Comps. Works great... ...EXCEPT that when I restore any of the previous snapshots, nothing changes. The symbols do not go back to their previous state, rendering this workflow useless. I believe this to be a bug, but I am open to it being user error if you can show me what I am doing wrong! I am happy to provide anything you need as far as examples. I really need this workflow so I don't have to create a new document every time I want to try out a different logo variation! I personally tend to do a lot of variations and iterations.
  3. Here's a link to a .zip file on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bOasvxCDbrza4_hNk6XffJb7-RJXqhXd/view?usp=sharing It contains four files named as follows: _DSCnnnn_AFP32.afphoto and _DSCnnn_AFP32_cropped.afphoto, where nnnn = 2082 or 2093. Before cropping _DSCnnnn_AFP32.afphoto, I made a snapshot and saved the file. Then I cropped (fixed ratio 1:1 from upper left corner) and saved it as _DSCnnn_AFP32_cropped.afphoto. When I open the cropped file and immediately restore the snapshot, the image is much, much darker. So I undo the restore and attempt to restore the uncrossed image with Document | Unclip canvas. For nnnn = 2082 this results in the original image displayed with what seems to be a border, 168 px wide. For nnnn = 2093, the border is only 1 px wide. The original image is 5600 px x 3728 px. I have no idea why the two crops unclip canvas so differently. I am using Affinity Photo 1.7.1 on a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" running macOS 10.13.6 with all the latest Apple updates.
  4. I know you have the History Tree option but I would love to see a Snapshot button which would be clicked on to store your publication at that point. Each time the button is clicked then a new Snapshot icon would appear in the title bar somewhere and you could simply jump between these or delete them as and when you wish. This would allow pages to be experimented on and simply put back to a set point as required. If this is not possible, how about a Snapshot Button that inserts a Snapshot Icon in the History Tree which did the same thing? I really don't like the short cut options that pop up when you click the Right Mouse Button as they never appear to change. I would love to see the contents change dependent on the screen object selected. So when a picture is clicked on you have options such as align, replace image etc right there, rather than have to keep moving up to the title bar; Or can we have the option to customise this menu drop down please? As you work on a design I can't see an option to review it as it would look when published. Is there one? as it would be nice if it appeared as a pdf document so you could view your progress. When you drag images etc off the page they can't be seen, even when the clipping option is turned off, so you can't store assets off the edge of the page which is very strange and really unhelpful when you are playing around with object positioning on the page. When you select a page would it not be possible to place a thumbnail of each asset on that page in a side bar where they can be selected without clicking on them on the page? I say this because it is so easy to move objects out of position when you are simply want to highlight them. Locking them in position isn't really the answer when you still need to move them around. An assets menu bar would also allow objects to be dragged out onto the page as a copy, or dropped into another box to replace the contents. Highlighting text in a text box is a very hit and miss affair and quite often the text box is dragged out of position. Could an option be added so that you hold the LMB down for a second or so and you automatically go into text edit mode? This is a big program so apologies if somethings there already which I may not have found yet. I really like this software, and because of the price it will be a must buy when its released. Keep up the great work.
  5. The snapshot feature as in designer and photo is missing. Will this function still come?
  6. Hello guys! An interesting and welcome addition to Affinity Photo would be something like a ‘split view for comparison’. A way to compare and edit versions (or Snapshots) of an image without having to duplicate it and use Separated Mode or toggle between tabs. An example would be when I apply the ‘Curves’ and ‘Soft Proof’ adjustment layer to an image to prepare it for print. I would like to have one window where I can see the original and another window right next to it, preferably optionally mirrored, with the adjustment layers active to edit and compare it to the original image (or Snapshot or state when I entered this split view mode). I think the basic elements for this feature are already available in Photo (i.e. Snapshot) and it comes down to the ability to arrange (and mirror or split) your windows/views. The ability to arrange windows (tabs) next to each other without having to enter Separated Mode would be a valuable addition and to a large extent fulfill this feature request. What do you think?
  7. Hi, Should I be able to save snapshots in the Develop Persona? Although the panel is present clicking the snapshot icon has no effect.
  8. The snapshot button is enabled even if no document is opened. This results in a crash:
  9. Since Affinity Designer blends vector and raster, it is imperative that snapshots be added to the history panel. One of the most amusing discussions on Adobe's Illustrator forum is that of adding history to illustrator. The arrogance of the posters and adobe really shines there. :-) One of the top reasons I am going to dump Illustrator for Affinity Designer is the history functionality. It saves so much time. We are talking a couple work days per year just with this function and not having to constantly save a million different states of a project when working on it. AD needs a snapshot tool. It just saves so much time in both creation and post-production processes.
