  1. Slices in Export persona is shifted 1px or so and visually not collect. Exported images are ok but this is annoying behavior. very confusing.
  2. Hello, I have a large document with lots of sliced graphics most of them are inside groups so it's easy to move them together as "blocks". I need to organize and update this large document all the time, but whenever I move some of the groups that contain graphics, the slices stay in place... It is too much of a time consuming to move the slices manually again to match to so many graphics, and whenever I decide to re-organized it again to do this again and again... Is there a way to move GRAHICS + SLICES together as one just like if the slices will stick to it's graphics? I'm using the latest version of Affinity Designer 2.2.0 Thanks ahead! 🙏
  3. The slices to export are 1500 x 1875. The exported jpgs result in 750 x 938. I have no clue why. Is there a hidden setting somewhere or is it a bug? For your convenience, I attached the .afphoto Version 2.1.1 for Mac Eine Band-L1010100-20230815-172257-Insta-C.afphoto
  4. Using Affinity Designer 2.1.1 on Windows. In the Export persona and using the Slice Tool, I've tried to snap a few slices to objects on the artboard, and they don't snap... but I honestly can't remember if it has always been like this, or if it's a new bug? I've tried looking up the documentation but it says nothing about this. Trying to determine if I simply forgot this was always been like this before submitting a bug report. Snapping to the artboard edges and other slices works fine though, sooo...?? Thanks!
  5. Mac OS 13.2 Affinity Design 2.1.1 Steps: As designer persona, create an artboard of an arbitrary size. Assign a 64x64 simple grid to the artboard. Enable snapping. Place a small shape in the middle of a grid cell. Draw a transparent rectangle with no outline from the top-left to the bottom right corner of the same grid cell. Group the two objects together. Ensure that the resulting group is 64x64px in size, and its position is at integer coordinates. Navigate to the export persona. Open the Layers dock and select the group from step 6. Press the "Create" slice button at the bottom right. Expected: A 64x64px slice is created. Actual: A 64x65px or 65x65 slice is created. This issue doesn't allow me to quickly export a lot of same-size images. I'm forced to draw or adjust slices manually. Thank you.
  6. Hi NathanC, When I make a preset with jpg and webp in the slices export panel and close and open Affinity Photo, then load the preset Affinity Photo crashes still. First I had the idea that it was because of older version presets, but when creating new presets it is still crashing. This bug was reported by me months ago. I attached the export_config.dat again as well as the bug report from my iMac when the crash happens! Back to version 1 again! David affinity-photo-crash.pdf export_config.dat
  7. In Designer 2, if you move an Art Board after creating slices, the position of the slices does not get adjusted to follow the Art Board. And it’s trivial to reproduce.
  8. Hello, I'm trying to export an image to use as email signature, but I realised that there seems to not be an otpion to see the html code like with photoshop, is there one that I can't find or some kind of alternative? For reference it's this method but with affinity, I have all three softwares so if there is an alternative in another of the affinity software
  9. Working with Web design i often need to eport several different png graphics ... i would like to know if there is a way to click/select an object to create atutomatically artboards or slices in the precise dimenson of the object/group, so when i export a PNG file the image does not leaves a gap or borders. Is there a way to do this?
  10. In short: Slices ought to be retained in Data-merge generated files and propagated in generated pages. Scenario: User sets up a work file using Publisher and Designer tools. Using Publisher, 'Data Merge' is essential to position and populate the file with variables. Using Designer, slices are set up in the same file so that, once data merge file is executed, files can be exported quickly. Data is imported, looks fine, user executes 'Data Merge manager' -> 'Generate'. Generated file looks fine at first but in Designer slices setup is gone! Replaced with UID-looking whole-page slice. Slices cannot be copy/pasted (not clear why, when it could save time in setups and dimensioning), User has to come up with workarounds. Workarounds will increase possibility of error and timewaste. Why is this a problem? This behaviour is detrimental for user since it: results in unnecessary loss of user data and time, requires generation of slices for each future data-merge generated file, requires potentially problematic workarounds. Expected behaviour: Slices are retained in data-merge generated file. This behaviour would be then coherent with retention of text-styles, master pages, swatches, preferences, and other user-set file characteristics and assets in data-merge generated files.
  11. The problem does not always appear, but very often at specific point: When I made couple slices and configure export formats on it etc... After click on "Export Slices" button program freezes, and I had to force to Quit. After run affinity designer again it works. It's so annoying especially when working frequently on slices. This has been happening for a long time, I already have a second computer so it is definitely not the fault of the hardware. Current setup: MacBook Pro 16Inch 2021, M1Pro 16GB macOS Monterey 12.2 Affinity Designer 1.10.4 Earlier computer when issue exists Mac Book Pro 2018 15inch i7 6core 16GB macOS BigSur
  12. Hi. I've been searching, but I can't find a way in any tutorial, although there must be one: in the export persona, how to give the slices a default aspect ratio (1x1, 4x5, whatever ...), and not having to move the sliders by hand, almost impossible to adjust the size with pixel precision. If anyone knows where that option is, I would appreciate the help.
  13. After creating my design in affinity photo I cut my image into slices of 1080x1080px But as I exported them I noticed they looked very pixelated. After searching for the cause I realized that whenever I export my slices they turn into images of 540x540px I've tried every many settings with PNG and JPEG but I can't figure out what's causing the change in size.
  14. Just joined, folks, so I hope I am not duplicating an issue. I could not find similar. The issue is: When I open a Publisher file (3 spreads of 6 facing pages. One image per page) in Designer I only see the first spread. What I am trying to achieve is achieve is to produce 6 ‘slices’ from the images. Slices are not available in Publisher and exporting rectangular selections is not possible. I want to keep the project images together, so I started in Publisher. To export slices, I must use Designer itself (not the Designer Persona in Publisher) but it only sees the first spread of the PUB file. Any help greatly appreciated. (I am using Win 10 and Affinity 1.9)
  15. Hi guys, title explains already everything, however, please have here a video (unlisted) explaining what I mean. What I forgot to mention in the video: please enable Metadata export to slices, thanks.
  16. Hi there, In the Export persona, is there a way to include a specific layer for one slice only (between various other slices)? So far I know I can exclude a specific layer/group of layers for all slices by unchecking the eye mark. But I want to do like the opposite. For example: I have a usual project file with the original image, various changes in multiple layers and groups. On top of that is a soft-proof profile placed as well as some smaller tweaks for printing. Now if I export those image I want copys for the digital media without those printing tweaks, so I simply uncheck those. But for printing I want a dedicated filename_print.tiff with those printing tweaks applied on top. I know I can go the long road and do two exports but that somewhat defies the logic behind the export persona. And if I try to create a slice from a selection of layers it creates one slice per layer which obviously also isn't what I want.
  17. I want to suggest making it possible to keep the original files exif/metadata in ALL slices set. As far as I understood only the very first slice which is automatically set (not really a slice, but just the whole thing called by the projects name) keeps that data since it works with the same engine as the default export function (the one you can use over Data>Export from everywhere, which you can set to delete all exif data if you want). All other manually set slices will always loose their exif data and there is no option to change that! I imagine it to be not that hard to implement it that way that you have the ability to write exif in slices as well (since its only very little data to copy after the file creation), probably even by default. You can always set the options to ditch the exif if you want, just like with the normal export function. Yes, you can currently workaround by cropping multiple times in the normal Photo Persona and its nondestructive as well. But that defies the whole sense behind the existence of the export persona! If I change even the slightest thing in the image I have to redo every crop and pray to the crop gods that it is somewhat cropped the same as before.
  18. I was downloading my image to an online service that would create multiple images from a single photo. I use these and transfer each image to a ceramic tile. Often this means over 500 separate tiles (for example an image divided into a grid of 25 columns and 25 rows of separate ceramic tiles. I understand how to create slices in the export personna. What I would like to know is if there is a way to, for example create a single slice of, say, 100 pixels x 100 pixels and then copy that so that I do not have to create each tile individually and move it into place. Right now I have to create the 100x 100 slice, put it in the upper left corner. Then place the cursor over a corner of that slice and create an entirely new slice of the same size. That would mean individually making hundreds of slices manually and moving them. When I send this to an online site all I have to do is send them the photo and tell them how many columns and rosw and they send me all the individual jpg images that I needf, one for each ceramic tile that I will transfer the images to. I have seen some android programs that will do this also, but I was wondering if there is a way to do this, automatically" in affinity photo or even one of the other affinity programs. The image attached shows the first several slices that I made individually.
  19. I would like to be able to configure layer visibility for each slice independently. This would help iterating export of many slightly different designs.
  20. Everytime I try to export slices the file output is always the wrong dimensions. Everytime i export something it exports as 1920x1080. I need my exports to be 64x64 px. What could be causing it to export with the wrong dimensions? I should note that I dont use artboards in my current projects setup. Could this possibly have something to do with the wrong exported file dimensions?
  21. Hi, My first time creating a topic on this forum, please excuse any errors / oversights. Today I encountered this error on Affinity Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10. I had 6 artboards in a file. I created slices and exported jpegs and closed the file. Later on when modifications were done to some of the artboards and ready for exporting slices again, the file kept on crashing when the slices panel was opened. On searching the forums for similar issues reported by others, I came across this (and other similar) thread(s):- I think this issue was addressed earlier, but has resurfaced in this version. I updated Affinity Designer to 1.8.5.703 last Saturday (19th Sept 2020) from the earlier version 1.8.4.x. Since my workflow (almost always) involves creating multiple artboards and exporting slices I can say with confidence that I have never encountered this issue earlier, i.e. since Nov 2019 when I began using Affinity Designer. In the meanwhile, I copied the artwork to a new file and refrained from creating slices. The new file has been behaving OK. Please let me know if you require additional inputs from me.
  22. I started this thread a while back , but no answers, still doing this on new version. Thanks Gary
  23. I'm in the process of making screen pictures to my Mac. Rather than cropping my pictures to 10x16 (the screen proportions, 1600 by 2540 pixels actually) in the photo persona I decided to use slices in export persona, since this would enable me to export in other formats, resolutions and croppings in the future. So after developing the raw picture and adding an extra layer for retouching I switch to export persona and draw a slice with the slice tool, entering exact proportions of what's effectively a crop. I rename the slice ensure proper format (jpeg high quality) and add proper resolution (1600h actually) and export this slice only . Embed metadata checkbox checked of course. The picture itself comes out exactly as I planned it, but when I check there are no metadata. As a sidecheck I exported the same picture with File | Export and also exported the slice, if that is the word, which appear to be automatically created by export persona. Both times metadata was exported as it should. Well actually some metadata was lost, but I believe this to be an import issue (research continues). For this I used Affinity Photo 1.8.4 on MacBook Pro 13 inch 2017 running Catalina 10.15.6 Delfinhopp_EOS_760D_20-08-07_2851.afphoto EOS_760D_20-08-07_2851.CR2 EOS 760D 20-08-07 2851.xmp
  24. Hey, I have a issue that was in the past DESIGNER and still in the new update. I have a document i always reuse. 2 art boards. One is a wide format for social media , the other square. I change the content and also rename the art boards for output , so they have the correct name. When i rename the art board and switch to slice module, the art boards have the old name before i rename them. So I have to rename them twice. Anyway to get this fixed? Thanks Gary
  25. When exporting images/Slices, is there a way to change individual file paths? I would like to export x number of Slices of the same file name to various locations.
