  1. Hi I'm using Affinity Designer to create icons. I a single layer, I have an icon with 7 sizes. My slices names as like this: _16x16 _32x32 _64x64 etc. When I'm in the Export Persona, I select "Slices" and clicks "Export slices", then I enter a name like "MyIcon". Is there a way to tell Affinity Designer to merge the exported filename "MyIcon" into the slicename, så the slice names will end up as... MyIcon_16x16 MyIcon_32x32 MyIcon_64x64 ...? That way I can
  2. I want to suggest making it possible to keep the original files exif/metadata in ALL slices set. As far as I understood only the very first slice which is automatically set (not really a slice, but just the whole thing called by the projects name) keeps that data since it works with the same engine as the default export function (the one you can use over Data>Export from everywhere, which you can set to delete all exif data if you want). All other manually set slices will always loose their exif data and there is no option to change that! I imagine it to be not that hard to i
  3. Hi Affinity, I currently have two main issues when getting files out for game development. (I appreciate my needs may be different from the crowd and could be at the bottom of the pile on account). Current flow for the majority of my work. -Create artwork using Layers/Groups named with export names. -Use the 'Create slice' from currently selected object. -This works great as it uses the name of the object - good clean files easily understood. However... the size of the slice generated is almost always not what I want. The slice seems to be generated from the bounding box of
  4. I think I'm missing something very obvious here but the Slice sector tool in Export Persona, will not let me select or adjust a slice size. (AD v1.6.1) Any ideas?
  5. Hi there, In the Export persona, is there a way to include a specific layer for one slice only (between various other slices)? So far I know I can exclude a specific layer/group of layers for all slices by unchecking the eye mark. But I want to do like the opposite. For example: I have a usual project file with the original image, various changes in multiple layers and groups. On top of that is a soft-proof profile placed as well as some smaller tweaks for printing. Now if I export those image I want copys for the digital media without those printing tweaks, so I simply uncheck
  6. I was downloading my image to an online service that would create multiple images from a single photo. I use these and transfer each image to a ceramic tile. Often this means over 500 separate tiles (for example an image divided into a grid of 25 columns and 25 rows of separate ceramic tiles. I understand how to create slices in the export personna. What I would like to know is if there is a way to, for example create a single slice of, say, 100 pixels x 100 pixels and then copy that so that I do not have to create each tile individually and move it into place. Right now I have to create the
  7. I'm in the process of making screen pictures to my Mac. Rather than cropping my pictures to 10x16 (the screen proportions, 1600 by 2540 pixels actually) in the photo persona I decided to use slices in export persona, since this would enable me to export in other formats, resolutions and croppings in the future. So after developing the raw picture and adding an extra layer for retouching I switch to export persona and draw a slice with the slice tool, entering exact proportions of what's effectively a crop. I rename the slice ensure proper format (jpeg high quality) and add proper resoluti
  8. I have about 90-80 slices in my project (It's and Android app) , and each slice is exported to a number of files (PNG and SVG). When using my mouse wheel scrolling up and down, folding and unfolding my slice to check that the export looks ok Designer freezes. 1. I first created a "master" export setup manually, exporting one SVG file and a number of PNG files in various resolutions to target all DPI:s 2. I used the "copy export format setup to clipboard" 3. I marked all my other slices (except the top one) 4. I used the "Add export format setup from clipboard", so all my
  9. Hi, My first time creating a topic on this forum, please excuse any errors / oversights. Today I encountered this error on Affinity Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10. I had 6 artboards in a file. I created slices and exported jpegs and closed the file. Later on when modifications were done to some of the artboards and ready for exporting slices again, the file kept on crashing when the slices panel was opened. On searching the forums for similar issues reported by others, I came across this (and other similar) thread(s):- I think this issue was addressed earlier, but has r
  10. Maybe I'm missing something but when I'm working on multiple artboards, if I create a slice manually and then I move an artboard, the position of that slice is changed. Object slices are working as expected. Great software :) keep it up! I'm a new poster and not permitted to upload video :/ windows 10 1.5.0.11
  11. Hi. This is an old, old, old solved bug returning on 1.6.1 If I duplicate an artboard and change the name, its associated export slice retains the old name. Also, changing existing artboard name doesn't change slice's one. It is happening randomly. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not, I can't find a pattern to give you steps to reproduce. Not sure if is a general issue or is triggered by something. I suspect it happens on documents created in the previous version. It seem to work correctly on documents created directly on 1.6.1 Feel free to request further info or a problematic
  12. I would like to be able to configure layer visibility for each slice independently. This would help iterating export of many slightly different designs.
  13. Everytime I try to export slices the file output is always the wrong dimensions. Everytime i export something it exports as 1920x1080. I need my exports to be 64x64 px. What could be causing it to export with the wrong dimensions? I should note that I dont use artboards in my current projects setup. Could this possibly have something to do with the wrong exported file dimensions?
  14. I started this thread a while back , but no answers, still doing this on new version. Thanks Gary
  15. Hey, I have a issue that was in the past DESIGNER and still in the new update. I have a document i always reuse. 2 art boards. One is a wide format for social media , the other square. I change the content and also rename the art boards for output , so they have the correct name. When i rename the art board and switch to slice module, the art boards have the old name before i rename them. So I have to rename them twice. Anyway to get this fixed? Thanks Gary
  16. At the moment, at least as far as I understand, a slice is only output at its current resolution (and multiples for iOS devices 1x, 2x and forthcoming 3x) as per its size on the canvas. It would be great if there was a way to manually set the output file resolution per slice. So for example, if a slice is set up for a section say 100 x 100 pixels on the canvas, a custom output size, such as 360 x 360 pixels could be specified for the target file. This would provide great flexibility. Multiple slices for the same area would then allow many different output resolution images to be generated for
  17. When exporting images/Slices, is there a way to change individual file paths? I would like to export x number of Slices of the same file name to various locations.
  18. Hi, I was wondering if there is any solution for my problem. I am using Affinity Designer for creating documents for my clients, all of them are based on few templates. I have at least two artboards in each template and I export them to two filetypes - jpg and pdf. Here is my workflow: I am opening last saved document of some kind - e.g. document-1005, then I am editing it with new data and then I am saving it as document-1006. Then I am exporting (ctrl alt shift s) each artboard as jpg and pdf - because filename of Affinity Designer file is kept - its all easy for me to keep fil
  19. I found great functionality of Designer in exhibition design, when I can maintain a generic view of a large wall of exhibition, while setting different export scenarios for different parts of general design: Parts must be printed with background and cropmarks in cmyk Parts must be cnc'd or cut without background I always need to maintain a general view for reviews, a small-sized pdf I often need to have parts of general design to use as textures in 3d software. Sometimes in different resolutions. Slices help me achieve this from a single, smartly constructed file,
  20. I can't seem to figure out how to delete slices that are created around individual objects?
  21. I want to export all layers! And I know there is the slice feature, but i don't want the slice box to be directly on the object i want the slice to be exactly the same size as my previously selected layout. I also know that I can change the slice, but not if I mark several slices.. So I have to pull each slice individually onto the edge .. Is there any better solution?
  22. Would it be possible to allow some of my export slices to ignore certain layers, but others to include them? I'm often working on multi-layered images for use in games, and every time I export i have to turn off specific layers beforehand. I appreciate the current option to set layers to not be exported, but I'd prefer some more power to limit certain layers to certain slices, so I can export the foreground, middle and foreground objects cleanly.
  23. Hi, I use very mucho the slices and always whey I creat a slices from a layer, the slices don't fit for 1 or 2 pixeles. I search in a lot of places for fix the problem, but I only found that this problems don't have a solution for know. Thanks
  24. I just came across a workflow stumbling block while working on letterheads with Publisher and delivering them as MS Word templates. There were multiple variations of the letterheads for different departments, which were created as different pages in Publisher in a single document based on common Master Pages My workflow was as following: Design everything in Publisher Create slices of header and footer for export to PDF Iterate on the design in Publisher until approved by client Place PDF graphics of header and footer in Word, recreate text that needs to be ed
  25. Hi, I have a very hard time understanding the slices and export. 1/ SLICES Should a slice not automatically be created from a layer.. ALWAYS ? Did I miss something? it seems to be it does at times and at other times it does not. 2/ LAYER DUPLICATE.. and SLICES When I duplicate a layer containing my design, rename it to something else than the original (say original is called Flyer.. and dupliate is renamed Web banner) it becomes a truly new layer thus shouldn't a new slice be automatically created at this juncture or am I totally off-base and shouldn't that slice inherit the name
