  1. Hey, May be I am missing it but I have a really huge document that I am slipping in multiple part so you have a one big view, but they are then sliced in smaller views that can be printed more easily. Right now I only see slice export in pic format for the slice. And in the export options, the PDF document option is "everything" only. Is there any way to either add a slice selection in the PDF export or add the PDF format in the slice export tool ? Thanks :)
  2. Some issues I've been facing on the Export persona in AD (1.5.3.6x public and beta): Slices don't always get the name of the artboard. If you rename the artboard the slice will keep the old name. If you're duplicating artboards this causes an issue where many slices have the same name and they'll be overwritten upon export I have a document with over 10 artboards (each one gets a slice). If I zoom out and select them on the Slices panel I can't tell which one is selected or not. Due to the naming issue above it's really hard to tell which of the artboards is selected since some have the same name and you can't see the selection border. The selection border gets hidden behind the slice blue border. There needs to be a way to completely hide (toggle show/hide) the slices markings In the Layers panel (back in Vector Persona) if you double-click a layer AD will zoom it in to fit the viewport. This would be very, very useful in export persona too, in the Slices panel. Double clicking a slice in the listing would zoom into that slice. Using the Slice tool sometimes selects an existing slice and sometimes it tries to create a new slice over an existing one. The behavior changes depending on zoom level and it's hard to replicate. The Slice Selection Tool selects objects within the artboard instead of the slice Selecting a artboard-slice by its name only works at greater zoom levels (100% or larger) There needs to be actions (buttons or kbd shortcuts) to select all/select none slices Selecting a slice highlights it on the Slices panel listing but does not scroll to it Thanks for reading :)
  3. Hi guys, I finally got into reediting in AP after a long time. I know the questions thatfollows have been answered before, and trust me I searched in the forum but to no avail. 1-So the first one would be, keyboard and mouse shortcut for increasing and decreasing brush size, as of right now no combination of strokes seems to work. And no, left and right bracket keys are no viable option nor do they work on an italian layout keyboard 2-the slice tool in export persona: I do post images on instagram after having them resized to 2048px on the long edge, so for pano I usually use the clise tool on PS and make say a 3 slice off of a pano that has been cropped to 3:1 and export them, so that I can upload them as multipe images to instagram and retain the pano. How do I do that in AP? it seems that the slices are only there for free and rectangular slices...any way to tell AP to slice my document in 3 equal part vertically and export them? 3-Copy one layer mask to another layer/adjustment layer, how do I do that? 4-when I have something selected and marching ant areon, how do I flood that selection with back or white? (on a layer mask) 5-I do like lthe stack option for files I already have on my HDD (I don't know what, but it's freaking stupid fast with 16bit tiffs), but let's say I have 4 layers in a document that I want to align, do I simply select 'Live Stack group' from the arrange toolbar? since it does not give me the option to align layers i am skeptic It'll actually align them PS. I am using English as a language even though I am using an italian layout keyboard. BTW, thanks AP team
  4. Hello, We're a startup and we currently use Sketch. Our processes look like this. Sketch > Upload to Zeplin > Add Zeplin notes > Developers. I'm a non-designer, but I participate in all phases, but I do not work on a Mac. So it's a hassle to change Sketch texts, titles, or copy, and I think it would be better going forward to if we worked on a system that was compatible with Windows. I'm wondering if anyone can describe to me some great Affinity workflows for developing applications, as well as the tools you use to share/store/deliver/comment the designs? Thanks everyone! Robert
  5. Could someone please walk me through the steps required to insert an image I've created and saved as an Asset in AD 1.5, that I know want to insert in a photographic image I have in AP? I'm early in the learning process and still shaky on some of the most basic of operations. For example, I am unsure of the best/proper way to combine two separate documents (in this case, one in AD containing the Asset with the photographic image I referred to in AP) in order to lay the one on top on the other. Would this require me to export the AD Asset as a slice, then import into AP? I really am lacking in knowledge here, apologizing in advance for the elementary nature of the question. I'm working on a new MacBook Pro with AD 1.5 and just-purchased AP software. Thanks all! -Christo
  6. Hi, this is happening to me every time I export slices from Affinity designer. Whenever I'm done creating my designs on artboards, then export them via export persona, there's always an extra pixel on the width, sometime on the height of the artboard. Like if I export three 800 x 800 px images, the first one has the right dimensions while the other two will come out as 801 x 800 or 801 x 801 px. Is there something wrong in my settings? Thanks!
  7. when using an artboard I have to set it to transparent before I can export a slice PNG with a transparent background. That feels odd and adds a lot of extra work just for exporting. Look at Gravit for example. The background is fully ignored by the slice exporter and I can hand adjust it. Thats how in Affinity this should be. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2QU81N2RlT1c3b0E/view
  8. Hello, I'm making a slice of a circle with an icon inside of it, the problem is when I try to export the slice, it only shows the circle layer, it does not show the contents on top of the circle. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to have the contents inside the circle show as being exported with the slice. How do I just have everything inside of the slice export? Thanks
  9. Hello, is there a way to rotate a slice in Export Persona? I see the rotation angle in grey: no way to change it… A feature in the future may be? It would help a lot for my project about stereo photos: sometimes I have to rotate the left and right pictures (extracted from the same image file) differently. Thanks in advance Thierry
  10. Hi, Please see attached test file. If I create a rectangle and sets the size 256x256. Now I create a slice of that layer, but the slice is automatically set to 259x259. Why is the slice not the same size as the rectangle (256x256)? Thanks test.afdesign
  11. Hi, My first request here. I recently needed to export quite a lot of layers as EPS and import them back into After Effects for motion graphics work. I realized that Persona exports the layers using their individual boundary. That means that when I import them into AE, their alignment on the page is different from the original layout. In order to fix this, I need to add an invisible rectangle to each layer. At that point, Persona considers the rectangle the actual boundary and the position of the element in the layer which I need to export, is finally correct. A way to avoid this workaround would be an export option, where the user can choose between Artboard boundary and Asset boundary (like in Adobe Illustrator). I really want to ditch Illustrator, and despite I'm tied to After Effects for my work, vector files don't have to necessarily be handled in AI. AD is a great candidate, actually, the only one which really makes me feel I can finally do the switch. But before I do so, I need to be able to export to AE in a clean way. Best, Andrew
  12. 1: UI Standard In AffinityDesign, I need use two hours tagging UI standards in everyone UI page. And In Sketch & Photoshop, use the plugin, Automatically generated UI standard pages just one key. Sketch have plugins: https://github.com/utom/sketch-measure https://github.com/tudou527/marketch Demo: http://utom.design/news/ Photoshop have plugin: http://www.biaonimeia.com/ 2: slice only iOS Image in Android is same name, but difference floder. Export mode is complex and powerful, but I can't use it export Android. we export iOS image, and user other app change image to Android. 3: piexl we get float piexl in center alignment & other layer middle alignment.
  13. Hi! Updated to last version (1.5.1) and strange and very annoying thing happened. I'm working on multi art board file, all art boards 16X16 pixels. The size is 3, 4, 8 times checked. However, switching to "Export Persona" the size of the slice is automatically resized to 17X16 pixels. Same file, previous version was perfectly sliced at 16X16... Any ideas?
  14. Hi al, it just happened that I had to changed my document size by adding pixels to the LEFT side of the canvas. What I realized later, was that all slices went to the "wrong position" caused by the canvas modification. At least a warning / hint / dialog would have been nice at the point of altering the document size. A file dialog that in case of having slices (which are constrained to canvas size) that offers to: 1) just ignore slice positions and 2) calculate the new positions + alter them automatically would be very nice here ;) Thanks for thinking about it, Stefan.
  15. I have file that was made in (of course) illustrator with some graphics. When I open in AD, they are literally slices with Curves adjustments - Open in Illustrator and click the graphics I want copy for pasting in AP and after a couple clicks, I can Select the group of graphics. Anyways. Thoughts? Also last thing. Here is what Illustrate says about slices when I open the EPS in Illi.
  16. When I first started using AD it had a feature for exporting slices on the Export Persona Studio Layer. You could define a slice and it showed the slice you had defined with an icon sized image to be export. To the right was a quick link to 'export this slice'. Now when I go to export, it just shows the elements, but not the slice. I have to use the Export x1 (or x2 or x3) buttons in the tool bar. Is this a deliberate change to the way Export works, or have I accidentally selected a different view? Thanks RPJ
  17. Hi all, new user. How do I snap a slice to layer bounds? Can't figure it out from snapping settings. TIA, Jack
  18. The new triangular grid is really neat. It helps me make hexagonal assets for a game I'm working on. An obstacle I'm facing is that the grid spacing value corresponds to the hypotenuse of the triangle and not the base of the triangle. When using a whole number (actually any rational number) for the spacing (e.g. 32px), the base (i.e. x-coordinate spacing) works out as an irrational number (27.71281292px...). It's not possible to enter a spacing value that results in integer x-coordinate spacing since the coefficient between the base and hypotenuse is irrational (square-root of 3). As a result of this the triangular grid is never aligned with the pixel grid. Since the slice persona requires that slice coordinates and dimensions are all aligned with the pixel grid it's not possible to precisely slice shapes that are aligned with the triangular grid. There are a few possible fixes, any would work: * Allow the user to space the triangular grid using the base instead of the hypotenuse. * Allow non-integer values for the x and y coordinates in the slice persona. * Allow the user to enter expressions that result in irrational numbers in the spacing field [1]. I attached a screenshot showing the misaligned grids in a zoomed-in slice persona. [1] This is allowed presently, but the result is resolved to an insufficient precision. Even on a small canvas (500px by 500px) the accumulating difference means that the two grids become misaligned fairly quickly.
  19. Hi, I love the concept of the export persona in Photo. Surely we've all been there where a large raw file has to be repurposed for many things. I feel this is the idea behind the slices in the export persona? But in this case I want to be able to limit the long edge of a slice so that I don't have to re-scale the exported slices in another step. It kind of feels like it should be there already, so am I missing something (I'm new to the apps)? So, in the export options, for instance in the JPEG preset, I'd like to see: Long edge: px and maybe % options Sharpening (I use quite different values depending on size and purpose) dpi Thanks!
  20. I have a document with a few layers in it which I want to "batch export" using your "multiple slice based on layers" function. I select a layer and click "create slice". A slice is automatically created, but it's bigger than my canvas area because the layer's image runs off the canvas. Is there a way to limit this function to be restricted to the canvas's size? (without having to manually draw a slice which I find a difficult to get exact since it doesn't seem to snap to the canvas edge) This is an awesome function that's really speeds up the exporting & re-exporting process so I want to get past this issue. (I don't think it's a bug, I just need to tick a box somewhere to limit this command)
  21. Pulling my hair out on this one. (And don't have that much left.) I want to slice up a layer from one layer into 6 peices. I have moved from Gimp to Affinity Design and Photo, for this I want to use Photo: What I used to do in Gimp: Marque select the section I want. copy. Then paste as new layer. Repeat for as many sections I needed. How in the world do I do this in Affinity Photo? Masks have left me stupefied. There has to be a simpler way. Please tell me there is.
  22. I have a spritesheet of characters with transparent background and a common size for each characters. Is there a fast way to export the spritesheet into multiple files with one character per file ? Something like an automatic slicing export ? Thanks for the program :-)
  23. I wanted to suggest some features related to usability/exporting. I did scan through the roadmap and didn't see these, so hopefully I'm not repeating anything that's been said before. When you have a slice that's created from a layer, perhaps it should output the layer even if the layer has visibility turned off (otherwise the created file is just blank). It would be useful to be able to create a slice that includes multiple layers within it. (Sort-of related) The ability to toggle visibility on more than one layer at a time. These are things I've been finding when building files with embedded text that has to be in foreign languages. I make a layer group for each language, and create slices based off of those, but I need to duplicate the graphic elements in the layer groups. For example: Layer groupLogo Translated text Layer groupLogo Translated text This is fine for now, but if I need to change the logo, I'll need to do it one time for each language...not good. So similar to the way you can create a slice from a layer, and it disregards all but that layer, it would be great to be able to create a slice from multiple layers, and it disregards all but those layers. Then I can just have a "graphics" layer, and then a text layer for each language, and slice them accordingly. Also, when I'm working in the document, I tend to want to make all of the language-layers invisible except the one I'm working with. But when I go to export, I have to remember to turn them all back on so that the slices aren't outputting empty PNG files. Whoops! So I figure, if i have a slice based on a single layer, and that layer's invisible--it should either warn me when I go to export, or just treat the layer as visible for the purpose of exporting. Make sense? Finally, I also find myself wanting to select several layers and then toggle the visibility on them. On a Mac, I believe the ALT key is used to select/deselect many checkboxes at once, and to open/close many folders at once. Maybe holding ALT while toggling visibility makes it affect all selected layers? Anyway, I know that the Serif team is hard at work adding more stuff, and I really appreciate it. I've never been able to break into Photoshop or Illustrator, but Affinity had me from hello.
  24. Hi I have a logo which I have designed in Xara, and I have imported it as a pdf into Affinity Designer, because I need to change the logo. I have changed the logo and I have used an outline shadow fx as a drop shadow. Now I try to resize the logo to exact dimensions, because I need to export it as a png in different sizes. But the resize does not take the shadow fx into consideration. When I resize the logo to 165 x 95 and then go to the export persona to create a slize, the slize becomes much larger because the resize does not take the fx drop shadow into consideration. Is there a fast way you can resize to exact pixel dimensions when you use a fx, like the outer shadow?
  25. Just wondering if there's any way to preview what a slice will look like before I export it. I can't seem to find a way to do this, and I haven't found anything in the online help.
