  1. Would be really useful to be able to duplicate slice or create a master slice that would be the reference for its duplicate ones being able to adjust one that would adjust them all. Also being able to set size of the slice manually Aso to have some king of predefine slice rules such as always snap multiple of...2 Also being able to select all layer and change par of their name like the first part if the name of all sliced layers. Regards.
  2. Good evening, As far as I know, Affinity does not support yet to create multiple slices from a single layer. Here's why this can become an issue for some works: Let's say you design a button (very basic rectangle + round corners) that you want the export in png (so keeping transparency behind corners) If I select my button layer and (in export personna) clic "Create Slice", I get an auto sized slice of my button, with transparency. All of this is perfectly fine. But… what if I want a three parts or nine parts buttons? In the case of a three parts button, I would expect to resize my slice to the left part, then create two other slides from this layer to set the central and right parts. Sadly, this is not possible. So I thought I could workaround this by manually creating my two other slices, but the manual slice behaviour is not the same (and I'm 100% fine with it), as it propagate to all layers. Am I missing something? Cheers.
  3. Hi, My first request here. I recently needed to export quite a lot of layers as EPS and import them back into After Effects for motion graphics work. I realized that Persona exports the layers using their individual boundary. That means that when I import them into AE, their alignment on the page is different from the original layout. In order to fix this, I need to add an invisible rectangle to each layer. At that point, Persona considers the rectangle the actual boundary and the position of the element in the layer which I need to export, is finally correct. A way to avoid this workaround would be an export option, where the user can choose between Artboard boundary and Asset boundary (like in Adobe Illustrator). I really want to ditch Illustrator, and despite I'm tied to After Effects for my work, vector files don't have to necessarily be handled in AI. AD is a great candidate, actually, the only one which really makes me feel I can finally do the switch. But before I do so, I need to be able to export to AE in a clean way. Best, Andrew
  4. 1: UI Standard In AffinityDesign, I need use two hours tagging UI standards in everyone UI page. And In Sketch & Photoshop, use the plugin, Automatically generated UI standard pages just one key. Sketch have plugins: https://github.com/utom/sketch-measure https://github.com/tudou527/marketch Demo: http://utom.design/news/ Photoshop have plugin: http://www.biaonimeia.com/ 2: slice only iOS Image in Android is same name, but difference floder. Export mode is complex and powerful, but I can't use it export Android. we export iOS image, and user other app change image to Android. 3: piexl we get float piexl in center alignment & other layer middle alignment.
  5. Hi! Updated to last version (1.5.1) and strange and very annoying thing happened. I'm working on multi art board file, all art boards 16X16 pixels. The size is 3, 4, 8 times checked. However, switching to "Export Persona" the size of the slice is automatically resized to 17X16 pixels. Same file, previous version was perfectly sliced at 16X16... Any ideas?
  6. Hi al, it just happened that I had to changed my document size by adding pixels to the LEFT side of the canvas. What I realized later, was that all slices went to the "wrong position" caused by the canvas modification. At least a warning / hint / dialog would have been nice at the point of altering the document size. A file dialog that in case of having slices (which are constrained to canvas size) that offers to: 1) just ignore slice positions and 2) calculate the new positions + alter them automatically would be very nice here ;) Thanks for thinking about it, Stefan.
  7. Today I needed to slice/divide some paths and realized Designer has "NO" tools to cut a path anywhere and give you two separate paths! Am I missing something? I keep not wanting to use Illustrator but I keep finding simple tools missing. This is just like not having an offset path command, handy tools.
  8. When I first started using AD it had a feature for exporting slices on the Export Persona Studio Layer. You could define a slice and it showed the slice you had defined with an icon sized image to be export. To the right was a quick link to 'export this slice'. Now when I go to export, it just shows the elements, but not the slice. I have to use the Export x1 (or x2 or x3) buttons in the tool bar. Is this a deliberate change to the way Export works, or have I accidentally selected a different view? Thanks RPJ
  9. I have file that was made in (of course) illustrator with some graphics. When I open in AD, they are literally slices with Curves adjustments - Open in Illustrator and click the graphics I want copy for pasting in AP and after a couple clicks, I can Select the group of graphics. Anyways. Thoughts? Also last thing. Here is what Illustrate says about slices when I open the EPS in Illi.
  10. Hi all, new user. How do I snap a slice to layer bounds? Can't figure it out from snapping settings. TIA, Jack
  11. Morning, Am I missing something here, or can I not snap slices to the grid?! I have created a slice, turned snap to grid on, and now am trying to conform that slice to the grid, but it's no snappy. Pretty much all snap options are on, but I just can't snap it! Cheers Wayne
  12. The new triangular grid is really neat. It helps me make hexagonal assets for a game I'm working on. An obstacle I'm facing is that the grid spacing value corresponds to the hypotenuse of the triangle and not the base of the triangle. When using a whole number (actually any rational number) for the spacing (e.g. 32px), the base (i.e. x-coordinate spacing) works out as an irrational number (27.71281292px...). It's not possible to enter a spacing value that results in integer x-coordinate spacing since the coefficient between the base and hypotenuse is irrational (square-root of 3). As a result of this the triangular grid is never aligned with the pixel grid. Since the slice persona requires that slice coordinates and dimensions are all aligned with the pixel grid it's not possible to precisely slice shapes that are aligned with the triangular grid. There are a few possible fixes, any would work: * Allow the user to space the triangular grid using the base instead of the hypotenuse. * Allow non-integer values for the x and y coordinates in the slice persona. * Allow the user to enter expressions that result in irrational numbers in the spacing field [1]. I attached a screenshot showing the misaligned grids in a zoomed-in slice persona. [1] This is allowed presently, but the result is resolved to an insufficient precision. Even on a small canvas (500px by 500px) the accumulating difference means that the two grids become misaligned fairly quickly.
  13. Hi! Is it possible to automatically adjust the size of the slice to the same size as the document? I have several layers and all of them I need to save as separate files with different file formats (some as PNG, some as JPEG, etc.). I need a little bit of support on this case from Affinity Photo community. ;) Thanks in advance for help! :)
  14. Hi, I love the concept of the export persona in Photo. Surely we've all been there where a large raw file has to be repurposed for many things. I feel this is the idea behind the slices in the export persona? But in this case I want to be able to limit the long edge of a slice so that I don't have to re-scale the exported slices in another step. It kind of feels like it should be there already, so am I missing something (I'm new to the apps)? So, in the export options, for instance in the JPEG preset, I'd like to see: Long edge: px and maybe % options Sharpening (I use quite different values depending on size and purpose) dpi Thanks!
  15. Hey, I am sometimes baffled by some fundamental interaction flaws in Affinity. I think that having the export persona was a bad design decision. I have a problem I cannot figure out a solution to: I simply want to move a graphic and a slice together. Impossible. You can either move the whole graphic or the slice but you have no way to select a graphic and its slice together. Try to resize a document: All your slices will stay in their absolute position forcing you to reslice everything! Please fix as soon as possible and get rid of the export persona completely. Just do what Sketch does. So much easier.
  16. I have a document with a few layers in it which I want to "batch export" using your "multiple slice based on layers" function. I select a layer and click "create slice". A slice is automatically created, but it's bigger than my canvas area because the layer's image runs off the canvas. Is there a way to limit this function to be restricted to the canvas's size? (without having to manually draw a slice which I find a difficult to get exact since it doesn't seem to snap to the canvas edge) This is an awesome function that's really speeds up the exporting & re-exporting process so I want to get past this issue. (I don't think it's a bug, I just need to tick a box somewhere to limit this command)
  17. Hey there guys. I couldn't find a topic regarding this, I'll just try to describe what I am talking about. :) Not sure if this is a question or a feature request either. Lets say I have a few adjustment layers on top of several motives. I want to export every motive in a separate file with the adjustment layers on top. Like a series: motive_a.jpg, motive_b.jpg, motive_c.jpg, and so on. Right now I only can do this by toggling the motive layers on and off every time I want to export a different one. I’d like to assign what layers to export per slice. I'm aware of the feature to create a slice for exporting one specific layer even if other layers are turned on (so they’re kinda getting ignored), but I'm looking for something similar … like different slices for every motive plus the general adjustment layers. Like this: Slice 1: export layer 1 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 2,3 and 4 Slice 2: export layer 2 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,3 and 4 Slice 3: export layer 3 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 4 Slice 4: export layer 4 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 3 … Sorry if this sounds stupid, but does anyone understand what I’m talking about? :D It would make exporting much more efficient in situations like these or even more complex ones, I think. Like you configure it once and hit export all and don't have to change the visibility for every motive. I’ll attach an example file with named layers and slices … maybe that'll help understand what I'm talking about. Maybe there’s even a solution that I don't know yet. Would be handy in Affinity Designer as well as Affinity Photo. Example – Layer Selection Export.afphoto Greetings Dennis
  18. Pulling my hair out on this one. (And don't have that much left.) I want to slice up a layer from one layer into 6 peices. I have moved from Gimp to Affinity Design and Photo, for this I want to use Photo: What I used to do in Gimp: Marque select the section I want. copy. Then paste as new layer. Repeat for as many sections I needed. How in the world do I do this in Affinity Photo? Masks have left me stupefied. There has to be a simpler way. Please tell me there is.
  19. Hi I have a logo which I have designed in Xara, and I have imported it as a pdf into Affinity Designer, because I need to change the logo. I have changed the logo and I have used an outline shadow fx as a drop shadow. Now I try to resize the logo to exact dimensions, because I need to export it as a png in different sizes. But the resize does not take the shadow fx into consideration. When I resize the logo to 165 x 95 and then go to the export persona to create a slize, the slize becomes much larger because the resize does not take the fx drop shadow into consideration. Is there a fast way you can resize to exact pixel dimensions when you use a fx, like the outer shadow?
  20. Just wondering if there's any way to preview what a slice will look like before I export it. I can't seem to find a way to do this, and I haven't found anything in the online help.
  21. I wanted to suggest some features related to usability/exporting. I did scan through the roadmap and didn't see these, so hopefully I'm not repeating anything that's been said before. When you have a slice that's created from a layer, perhaps it should output the layer even if the layer has visibility turned off (otherwise the created file is just blank). It would be useful to be able to create a slice that includes multiple layers within it. (Sort-of related) The ability to toggle visibility on more than one layer at a time. These are things I've been finding when building files with embedded text that has to be in foreign languages. I make a layer group for each language, and create slices based off of those, but I need to duplicate the graphic elements in the layer groups. For example: Layer groupLogo Translated text Layer groupLogo Translated text This is fine for now, but if I need to change the logo, I'll need to do it one time for each language...not good. So similar to the way you can create a slice from a layer, and it disregards all but that layer, it would be great to be able to create a slice from multiple layers, and it disregards all but those layers. Then I can just have a "graphics" layer, and then a text layer for each language, and slice them accordingly. Also, when I'm working in the document, I tend to want to make all of the language-layers invisible except the one I'm working with. But when I go to export, I have to remember to turn them all back on so that the slices aren't outputting empty PNG files. Whoops! So I figure, if i have a slice based on a single layer, and that layer's invisible--it should either warn me when I go to export, or just treat the layer as visible for the purpose of exporting. Make sense? Finally, I also find myself wanting to select several layers and then toggle the visibility on them. On a Mac, I believe the ALT key is used to select/deselect many checkboxes at once, and to open/close many folders at once. Maybe holding ALT while toggling visibility makes it affect all selected layers? Anyway, I know that the Serif team is hard at work adding more stuff, and I really appreciate it. I've never been able to break into Photoshop or Illustrator, but Affinity had me from hello.
  22. Dumb question cancelled. Should wait till I wake up before posting :-) But it does raise the issue of the contrast of controls and accessibility for people with impaired vision (and those who are just tired). Much of the design is 'cool' black and grey. I do not have particularly poor vision, but I find this lack of contrast a real pain. This is a screen grab of a drawing tab. I have to click on the X to close it. There is a grey X in the top left, but it could be a lot clearer. The Prefs/UI Gamma setting does not increase contrast enough. Are there plans to replace the grey with white and generally increase visual accessibility of the whole app? Cheers. RPJ
  23. Hi, Please see attached test file. If I create a rectangle and sets the size 256x256. Now I create a slice of that layer, but the slice is automatically set to 259x259. Why is the slice not the same size as the rectangle (256x256)? Thanks test.afdesign
  24. I have a spritesheet of characters with transparent background and a common size for each characters. Is there a fast way to export the spritesheet into multiple files with one character per file ? Something like an automatic slicing export ? Thanks for the program :-)
  25. Is it possible to export a slice without defining a slicing area? I think, without going back into Sketch that you can define an object to be sliced without having to define an area with the slice tool. Say I created a bunch of buttons and icons - each button and icon are grouped. Is it possible to select the group and export it, without defining a slicing area? ----- Is it possible to slice a group without turning off all the underlying layers to make, say, a transparent png? Take the above example of icons and buttons. Currently the workflow is to define a slicing area, and then I have turn off all the underlying layers in order to make the icon have a transparent background. I believe if the above situation was solved for (exporting layers/ groups), that I wouldn't have to hide multiple layers in-order to get a transparent background. * This is a great feature, which I'd be open to requesting, for people making graphics that use hover effects and changing backgrounds - say for example on buttons. In the attachment I have multiple button icons to be exported and it sucks to hide all the layers, export the icons, then display all the layers again (primarily cause the layers could be at all kinds of different levels in the layers panel)
