  1. I’m making a webtoon on an iPad and put texts on Affinity Photo. However, the length of my Webtoon is very long and I want to be able to cut the photo in to 3 so that it can fit the size requirements for Webtoon. I was doing this in Photoshop using the slice tool, but it would be REALLY cool if Affinity photo can do this as well! I know that it might be a very minor tool for most other users, but it would make Affinity Photo feel even more professional too! Thank for reading
  2. Hi. How to rename multiple slices? Batch renaming possible? Thanks!
  3. Hi, I've watched a few videos and understand that you can have multiple artboards exported as separate file. When I have multiple artboards open and then click on export persona, it doesn't do the auto slice action. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Ian
  4. Hello! This is a FYI request from an Android Developers view. I am an Android Developer and tried your program as a tool to export some PSD-file-mockups of a App-design. I really like the program so far with all its functionality and I do like the "export-persona". But one thing is really anoying. There is an option, when you export a slice, to choose what should be in the file-name. You can there choose the "scale-suffix" This puts an "@1x", "@2x", "@3x" in your filename to seperate the files in a really sufficiant way. This is a amazing on MAC where the "@X" suffix has a real use. BUT, when it comes to Android development this is a real pain. This is the error straight from Android studio: "Error: '@' is not a valid file-based resource name character: File-based resource names must contain only lowercase a-z, 0-9, or underscore" This means that I now have to go and rename all those files by hand, wich was something I wanted to avoid with exporting the files through Affinity Designer. There is an simple fix for this. Make a new suffix that is made for android without the "@" and it will be perfect. Thank you for your time! //Simon
  5. Hi, I have a PDF logo in Affinity Designer on a large art board and created a slice in the export persona. How can I change the size of the slice? When I change the size down under in the transform panel the logo stays the same size! Regards & Thanks, David
  6. The slice tool is a nice feature to have, but it would be even nicer if there was more control and ways to adjust it. This is too bare-bones.
  7. Hello, I couldn't find an answer to this so apologies if I missed. I'm not a heavy user of the Designer but I thought it should be straight forward: Designing an UI for embedded device with multiple screens. I created separate artboards for each screen, all scattered across so I can see them all. I used the Export Persona to create slices for each on-screen element (buttons etc.). I need their coordinates to use in the code. While in Draw Persona, every element has XY coordinates related to the artboard. When I switch to Export, the elements that are not on the "initial" artboard have their XY related to that initial artboard. As example: - two artboards 320x240 px. side by side - both have a button in top left corner (and in the Draw Persona both have their XY = 0,0) - slice of the button on the first arboard has XY = 0,0 - slice of the button on the second has XY = 370,0 I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe my approach is not right. Attached image shows example slice in a tiny artboard (71x85 but the element's XY=644,476):
  8. Dear Affinity Staff, I am very happy with my purchase. Here’s a little thing that might make it better, more non-destructive in spirit. Right now, I can crop, and then unclip canvas if I change my mind. I often get some dead space around the pixel layers but I’m sure you will work that out eventually. But how cool would it be if I didn’t have to crop in the first place? The slices principle of the export persona appears to be perfectly suited for this, but I find it inconvenient to use at the moment. I would like an option to force ratio (2:3, 4:5, etc. ) and an option for showing the overlays (rule of thirds, golden spiral etc). That way, if my parents or in-laws neglect to tell me the aspect ratio of their picture frame, I can quickly and conveniently export a range of perfectly composited slices of pictures of their grandchildren! I know a modifier key will constrain the ratio but then I have hit the 4:5 ratio perfectly somehow at some point.... thanks for reading. Wouter
  9. There is no way to save and then turn on and off different sets of slices for export. In my document, I have a set of slices which I want to export in high res, and another set I want in low res; but I don't want to export BOTH at the same time, sometimes I only want to export the high res, and another time the low res... It would be beneficial to be able to have an option to save multiple sets of checked slices and quickly switch between these sets, specially in documents like mine with 50+ slices. Thanks for your consideration.
  10. Slices: Why is slicing in Affinity Designer soooooooooo awkward? Changing the size? Copy or duplicate a slice? Too many attributes in the panel that don't interest me at first Isn't it possible yet? Or didn't i find it :-( Take a look to "SketchApp" from the Bohemian Team :-) (moved from feature roadmap by mod)
  11. Title says it all. And sorry if this is an obvious or already answered question, I didn't really know what this would be called to search for it. I have multiple files, all with the same layout, that need to be sliced the same. Can I batch slice? Thanks!
  12. When I try to create a slice from a group that has something masked inside it, the size of the slice is determined by the size of the unmasked content. However to me it seems more logical to have the slice the same size as the visible content (the way it is masked). Is there a way to make the size of the slice respect the actual visible content?
  13. I love the variables that I can use in the export settings for each slice. However, I miss a variable that holds the name of the document. Whe I export slices of images from multiple documents, this would be very helpful for leter finding the source document when I recognize I a mistake when looking at one of the exported slices.
  14. I am using AD, the Slice feature, I think it is a bug in AD, I wanted to create 4 PDFs from an oversized document, so I used the slice and exported each slice, but when I decided to redo, commmand z, all the way to the beginning of the document, it seems the 4 slices I created on that document have trimmed the at the slice position; so if you select one area, it will select 1/4 of the document, and does not remember that we are starting from scratch. I was trying to print an over sized poster by tiling it when printed and later tape it, considering the bleed area, gave an extra half inch on all sides. Any feed back? Thanks
  15. Hi Affinity! First of all handy up for your good work, love the program so far. One question: When I try to export a Photo canvas (to be printed in a print office), that had been turned before by 90 degrees, the size of the main (automatic) slice seems to remember the old 'unturned' dimensions. Or do I get something wrong here? Cheers Juergen
  16. Have a scanning process or task to edit huge files that requires lots of memory but need to load the files and edit them with just 4-8GB? That can happen and when it does, you can get so frustrated about removing dust etc on the huge files. On Unix commandline I used a ImageMagic a lot for that task to automatically process a input file and slice it to smaller ones without really loading the whole file to VRAM etc. And then use the image editor to open the separated files that were sliced pieces and after each edit to combine the files back to one big one (a la panorama stiching). It made possible to load on a computer with 512MB RAM a files size of 400-500MB and do the spot healing for dust removing, build a script for the contrast etc editing and then apply all those separately to multiple 50MB files without stressing the hardware. This would help many photographers who use film and does huge file scanning or even panoramas with high megapixel cameras (80Mpix shooting a 5-20 frames for panorama) so you could just use computers with 3-8GB RAM with others software loaded too. And then just apply same curves etc to all files in batch, run the "new panorama" and then let the computer heat up!
  17. Some issues I've been facing on the Export persona in AD (1.5.3.6x public and beta): Slices don't always get the name of the artboard. If you rename the artboard the slice will keep the old name. If you're duplicating artboards this causes an issue where many slices have the same name and they'll be overwritten upon export I have a document with over 10 artboards (each one gets a slice). If I zoom out and select them on the Slices panel I can't tell which one is selected or not. Due to the naming issue above it's really hard to tell which of the artboards is selected since some have the same name and you can't see the selection border. The selection border gets hidden behind the slice blue border. There needs to be a way to completely hide (toggle show/hide) the slices markings In the Layers panel (back in Vector Persona) if you double-click a layer AD will zoom it in to fit the viewport. This would be very, very useful in export persona too, in the Slices panel. Double clicking a slice in the listing would zoom into that slice. Using the Slice tool sometimes selects an existing slice and sometimes it tries to create a new slice over an existing one. The behavior changes depending on zoom level and it's hard to replicate. The Slice Selection Tool selects objects within the artboard instead of the slice Selecting a artboard-slice by its name only works at greater zoom levels (100% or larger) There needs to be actions (buttons or kbd shortcuts) to select all/select none slices Selecting a slice highlights it on the Slices panel listing but does not scroll to it Thanks for reading :)
  18. Hi guys, I finally got into reediting in AP after a long time. I know the questions thatfollows have been answered before, and trust me I searched in the forum but to no avail. 1-So the first one would be, keyboard and mouse shortcut for increasing and decreasing brush size, as of right now no combination of strokes seems to work. And no, left and right bracket keys are no viable option nor do they work on an italian layout keyboard 2-the slice tool in export persona: I do post images on instagram after having them resized to 2048px on the long edge, so for pano I usually use the clise tool on PS and make say a 3 slice off of a pano that has been cropped to 3:1 and export them, so that I can upload them as multipe images to instagram and retain the pano. How do I do that in AP? it seems that the slices are only there for free and rectangular slices...any way to tell AP to slice my document in 3 equal part vertically and export them? 3-Copy one layer mask to another layer/adjustment layer, how do I do that? 4-when I have something selected and marching ant areon, how do I flood that selection with back or white? (on a layer mask) 5-I do like lthe stack option for files I already have on my HDD (I don't know what, but it's freaking stupid fast with 16bit tiffs), but let's say I have 4 layers in a document that I want to align, do I simply select 'Live Stack group' from the arrange toolbar? since it does not give me the option to align layers i am skeptic It'll actually align them PS. I am using English as a language even though I am using an italian layout keyboard. BTW, thanks AP team
  19. Hello, We're a startup and we currently use Sketch. Our processes look like this. Sketch > Upload to Zeplin > Add Zeplin notes > Developers. I'm a non-designer, but I participate in all phases, but I do not work on a Mac. So it's a hassle to change Sketch texts, titles, or copy, and I think it would be better going forward to if we worked on a system that was compatible with Windows. I'm wondering if anyone can describe to me some great Affinity workflows for developing applications, as well as the tools you use to share/store/deliver/comment the designs? Thanks everyone! Robert
  20. Could someone please walk me through the steps required to insert an image I've created and saved as an Asset in AD 1.5, that I know want to insert in a photographic image I have in AP? I'm early in the learning process and still shaky on some of the most basic of operations. For example, I am unsure of the best/proper way to combine two separate documents (in this case, one in AD containing the Asset with the photographic image I referred to in AP) in order to lay the one on top on the other. Would this require me to export the AD Asset as a slice, then import into AP? I really am lacking in knowledge here, apologizing in advance for the elementary nature of the question. I'm working on a new MacBook Pro with AD 1.5 and just-purchased AP software. Thanks all! -Christo
  21. when using an artboard I have to set it to transparent before I can export a slice PNG with a transparent background. That feels odd and adds a lot of extra work just for exporting. Look at Gravit for example. The background is fully ignored by the slice exporter and I can hand adjust it. Thats how in Affinity this should be. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Byzv_NlyKp_2QU81N2RlT1c3b0E/view
  22. Hi, this is happening to me every time I export slices from Affinity designer. Whenever I'm done creating my designs on artboards, then export them via export persona, there's always an extra pixel on the width, sometime on the height of the artboard. Like if I export three 800 x 800 px images, the first one has the right dimensions while the other two will come out as 801 x 800 or 801 x 801 px. Is there something wrong in my settings? Thanks!
  23. I'm always big on batch processing and an efficient export workflow. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to get the most out of AD 1.5 exporting - but i'm still mystified at what Batch Builder actually does. No help on it. No google returns outside of the feature list saying: Batch Builder for multi-slice imagesets (Xcode asset JSON) And it seems to be very oriented around touch icons - is there scope for more? Please affinity, let us in on the secret?
  24. Hello, I'm making a slice of a circle with an icon inside of it, the problem is when I try to export the slice, it only shows the circle layer, it does not show the contents on top of the circle. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to have the contents inside the circle show as being exported with the slice. How do I just have everything inside of the slice export? Thanks
  25. Hello, is there a way to rotate a slice in Export Persona? I see the rotation angle in grey: no way to change it… A feature in the future may be? It would help a lot for my project about stereo photos: sometimes I have to rotate the left and right pictures (extracted from the same image file) differently. Thanks in advance Thierry
