  1. AD version 1.7.3.481 Hi, I have to create slices from a weblayout to export jpgs. In this case i have picture frames with linked images in a Publisher document, which are exactly positioned/sized on integer pixel values. To export the images for web, i open the Publisher document in Designer and switch to export persona. My typical approach is to select the orginal object in the layers panel and create a new slice by pressing the "new slice (Slice erstellen)" button at the bottom of the layers panel. Example: the object is 480 x 480 px at position 0 / 1850 px. Normally when i create a slice from a selected object the slice directly takes the object/layer name and the EXACT dimensions and position of the original object. Even if i select multiple objects/layers and create all slices in a single shot. But in this case all created slices are some pixels bigger and shifted off. e.g. the created slice from this object is 482 x 482 px at position -1 / 1849 px I have some other big header images in this document at position 0 / 0 px with 1920 x 1080 px. These images produce slices with exact the original values as expected. So what's wrong? Is it because this is originaly a Publisher document, or is it about the picture frames? Unfortunately the slice tool does not snap to any grid or guides, so i have to manually correct all slices in the transform panel. Lot of workarounds and lost time - again... :-(
  2. Would be really useful to be able to duplicate slice or create a master slice that would be the reference for its duplicate ones being able to adjust one that would adjust them all. Also being able to set size of the slice manually Aso to have some king of predefine slice rules such as always snap multiple of...2 Also being able to select all layer and change par of their name like the first part if the name of all sliced layers. Regards.
  3. macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Affinity Designer 1.7.3 --- First, here's how these exported PNGs render in the wild: These photos are exported from the *same* artboard: In case the screenshot of the first export doesn't have you convinced, here's the artboard fill & stroke: (note the fill & stroke, top left) Yes, the slice export options are the exact same: (also notice how you can see in the slice preview that Color Horizontal is transparent but the avatar_color_why_no_transparent clearly has a white background) I feel like this should be stupid-simple. What am I missing? Also here's an example of these files out of preview/affinity designer so it's evident that one's transparent and one has a white background:
  4. Morning, Am I missing something here, or can I not snap slices to the grid?! I have created a slice, turned snap to grid on, and now am trying to conform that slice to the grid, but it's no snappy. Pretty much all snap options are on, but I just can't snap it! Cheers Wayne
  5. Hello, I want to split a rectangular image into, say, nine equal parts and have each saved as a separate page (or image). (I will then print out all nine and stick them together as a single image of huge size. (My initial image will have a huge number of pixels making sure that each of the final images will have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.)) I have Photo and Publisher. I have looked at the slice tool but don't think it can do what I want. Is there a way to accomplish this in either Photo or Publisher? If not, does anyone know a stand-alone app that can do this? Thanks for any suggestions. Robin
  6. Hi, I have 2 artboards for wine labels. Everytime i go to slice mode to output them, the program locks up and crashes. It doesn't even show the slice mode, locks up before that. this is new to 1.7.2.471 Here are screen captures to the progression on the crash. Gary
  7. Hi, I'm just getting started with Affinity Photo after using Photoshop for a long time, so I might have completely overlooked the solution, but here's what I'm trying to achieve: I would like to export a slice of my photos at a set resolution (N x M pixels), but I cannot figure out how if it's possible. I've seen the other hardcoded values, but is there a way to create my own? Thanks! Robert
  8. This happened to me after trying affinity designer ipad for one week with no problem, suddenly the export won't work. when i try to export artboard(s), it opened the Files App but it looks like Files App got wrong command, no "ok" button (see video). now I'm stuck with export button (in dropdown menu, nit from slice) and it's so annoying because i have to export multiple artboard one by one. i tried reinstalling the Files app but it doesn't get normal, haven't tried reinstalling the affinity designer app. please help. 9A7525E6-43A2-4B66-A202-C8D4E58F49DF.MP4
  9. I have been trying and trying to get Slice Export to work for me on Affinity Designer iPad. I watched the tutorial video on how to do it. It just doesn't work for me. I tried exporting to iPad folder and also to various iCloud folders as well, nothing, it just doesn't export anything.
  10. I am using Designer to make assets for a board game, and the slice tool is really great for separating into the digital vs print needs. However, when I open them to print, it's made assumptions about the scaling. I'm exporting at 300dpi because that's the print size but most are scaling them to fit. If I manually export, I can set the scaling and paper size. Is there any way for me to change these settings upon batch export? If not, does anyone have any workflow suggestions to do this? I can't be the only one with this problem.
  11. I think I'm missing something very obvious here but the Slice sector tool in Export Persona, will not let me select or adjust a slice size. (AD v1.6.1) Any ideas?
  12. Hi! Is it possible to automatically adjust the size of the slice to the same size as the document? I have several layers and all of them I need to save as separate files with different file formats (some as PNG, some as JPEG, etc.). I need a little bit of support on this case from Affinity Photo community. ;) Thanks in advance for help! :)
  13. On Affinity Photo I want to export an entire black image to a 3x3 square of slices. As this square is bigger than original image, 8 exported slices but the center's one have extra pixels. When I exported slices, these extra pixels are white. I want them to be black. I tried many tricks without success: change background color of image, add a square below the image and fill it with black... No success. Extra pixels are always white. Is there a way to achieve this goal? Original image Mosaic of slices Slices As you can see, extra background is white. Top left slice
  14. Hey there guys. I couldn't find a topic regarding this, I'll just try to describe what I am talking about. :) Not sure if this is a question or a feature request either. Lets say I have a few adjustment layers on top of several motives. I want to export every motive in a separate file with the adjustment layers on top. Like a series: motive_a.jpg, motive_b.jpg, motive_c.jpg, and so on. Right now I only can do this by toggling the motive layers on and off every time I want to export a different one. I’d like to assign what layers to export per slice. I'm aware of the feature to create a slice for exporting one specific layer even if other layers are turned on (so they’re kinda getting ignored), but I'm looking for something similar … like different slices for every motive plus the general adjustment layers. Like this: Slice 1: export layer 1 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 2,3 and 4 Slice 2: export layer 2 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,3 and 4 Slice 3: export layer 3 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 4 Slice 4: export layer 4 and adjustment A and B, but not layer 1,2 and 3 … Sorry if this sounds stupid, but does anyone understand what I’m talking about? :D It would make exporting much more efficient in situations like these or even more complex ones, I think. Like you configure it once and hit export all and don't have to change the visibility for every motive. I’ll attach an example file with named layers and slices … maybe that'll help understand what I'm talking about. Maybe there’s even a solution that I don't know yet. Would be handy in Affinity Designer as well as Affinity Photo. Example – Layer Selection Export.afphoto Greetings Dennis
  15. Hey everyone! I'm unsure whether or not this is a bug. When exporting slices, they have to be set to retina (2x) in order to get the intended full resolution. Besides being an extra step, this unnecessarily adds "@2" prefixes to all the slices even though it's just supposed to be at once the resolution chosen on file creation. Best wishes, Shu
  16. Hey everyone! When I want to export layers, most of the time, I need the full file resolution. Exporting like that would be much more efficient if there was a shortcut for using the document bounds for the current slice or an option for automatically assign document bounds for new slices. Best wishes, Shu
  17. Hey everyone! It would be useful if there was an option to only show the selected slice. Personally, I need to export slices at full file resolution and having hundreds of slices on top of each other overlaps their header, so I cannot read it. Besides that, I ran into performance problems at about 100 slices, which may be somewhat better without so much overdraw. Best wishes, Shu
  18. (Attached file "bug adding size 1 1.afdesign" can reproduce the bug) This is a perfect w=35px h=35px group. Coordinates and sizes are both integers. Decimal Place for pixels is set to 3. Create slice in export persona, its width became 36px, which is expected to be 35px. This happens once in a while, and I've found a workaround: If I copy the group - "perfect 35" to a new file; set its coordinate to x=0 y=0 and create slice again, I can get the slice with correct size: w=35px, h=35px. Exporting is supposed to be a light work with the user-friendly export persona. However, When I was working on a urgent project this afternoon, I encountered this bug. It brought me only pressure and frustration. I had to check each slices very carefully and re-sliced the incorrect ones with the workaround. Finally I got my work done. But what If i didn't know the workaround before? I knew this bug and found the workaround some days ago. I didn't report it because I thought you proberly knew this and had schedules. However, let alone this bug destories the mood whenever it shows up, knowing its existence, I have to keep checking carefully to ensure everything is correct. What a burden! I hope export persona become a partner I can trust as soon as possible. Windows 7 64 bit Affinity Designer 1.5.0.36 (I've send the attached file to a Mac user and the bug was reproduced) bug adding size 1 1.afdesign
  19. At the moment, at least as far as I understand, a slice is only output at its current resolution (and multiples for iOS devices 1x, 2x and forthcoming 3x) as per its size on the canvas. It would be great if there was a way to manually set the output file resolution per slice. So for example, if a slice is set up for a section say 100 x 100 pixels on the canvas, a custom output size, such as 360 x 360 pixels could be specified for the target file. This would provide great flexibility. Multiple slices for the same area would then allow many different output resolution images to be generated for the same graphic (eliminating the need for having the 1x, 2x etc options). The additional target output size settings would ideally be placed on the 'export options' panel and would contain a means of optionally fixing the aspect ratio and also be saved as part of the preset. Default presets could include 'iOS 1x Icon', 'iOS 2x Icon' etc. I hope this makes sense. Fantastic, user friendly app! Keep up the excellent work.
  20. I’m making a webtoon on an iPad and put texts on Affinity Photo. However, the length of my Webtoon is very long and I want to be able to cut the photo in to 3 so that it can fit the size requirements for Webtoon. I was doing this in Photoshop using the slice tool, but it would be REALLY cool if Affinity photo can do this as well! I know that it might be a very minor tool for most other users, but it would make Affinity Photo feel even more professional too! Thank for reading
  21. When I try to create a slice from a group that has something masked inside it, the size of the slice is determined by the size of the unmasked content. However to me it seems more logical to have the slice the same size as the visible content (the way it is masked). Is there a way to make the size of the slice respect the actual visible content?
  22. Hi. How to rename multiple slices? Batch renaming possible? Thanks!
  23. Hi, I've watched a few videos and understand that you can have multiple artboards exported as separate file. When I have multiple artboards open and then click on export persona, it doesn't do the auto slice action. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Ian
  24. Hello! This is a FYI request from an Android Developers view. I am an Android Developer and tried your program as a tool to export some PSD-file-mockups of a App-design. I really like the program so far with all its functionality and I do like the "export-persona". But one thing is really anoying. There is an option, when you export a slice, to choose what should be in the file-name. You can there choose the "scale-suffix" This puts an "@1x", "@2x", "@3x" in your filename to seperate the files in a really sufficiant way. This is a amazing on MAC where the "@X" suffix has a real use. BUT, when it comes to Android development this is a real pain. This is the error straight from Android studio: "Error: '@' is not a valid file-based resource name character: File-based resource names must contain only lowercase a-z, 0-9, or underscore" This means that I now have to go and rename all those files by hand, wich was something I wanted to avoid with exporting the files through Affinity Designer. There is an simple fix for this. Make a new suffix that is made for android without the "@" and it will be perfect. Thank you for your time! //Simon
  25. I love the variables that I can use in the export settings for each slice. However, I miss a variable that holds the name of the document. Whe I export slices of images from multiple documents, this would be very helpful for leter finding the source document when I recognize I a mistake when looking at one of the exported slices.
