  1. AD version 1.7.3.481 Hi, I have to create slices from a weblayout to export jpgs. In this case i have picture frames with linked images in a Publisher document, which are exactly positioned/sized on integer pixel values. To export the images for web, i open the Publisher document in Designer and switch to export persona. My typical approach is to select the orginal object in the layers panel and create a new slice by pressing the "new slice (Slice erstellen)" button at the bottom of the layers panel. Example: the object is 480 x 480 px at position 0 / 1850 px. Normally when i create a slice from a selected object the slice directly takes the object/layer name and the EXACT dimensions and position of the original object. Even if i select multiple objects/layers and create all slices in a single shot. But in this case all created slices are some pixels bigger and shifted off. e.g. the created slice from this object is 482 x 482 px at position -1 / 1849 px I have some other big header images in this document at position 0 / 0 px with 1920 x 1080 px. These images produce slices with exact the original values as expected. So what's wrong? Is it because this is originaly a Publisher document, or is it about the picture frames? Unfortunately the slice tool does not snap to any grid or guides, so i have to manually correct all slices in the transform panel. Lot of workarounds and lost time - again... :-(
  2. macOS Mojave 10.14.6 Affinity Designer 1.7.3 --- First, here's how these exported PNGs render in the wild: These photos are exported from the *same* artboard: In case the screenshot of the first export doesn't have you convinced, here's the artboard fill & stroke: (note the fill & stroke, top left) Yes, the slice export options are the exact same: (also notice how you can see in the slice preview that Color Horizontal is transparent but the avatar_color_why_no_transparent clearly has a white background) I feel like this should be stupid-simple. What am I missing? Also here's an example of these files out of preview/affinity designer so it's evident that one's transparent and one has a white background:
  3. Hello, I want to split a rectangular image into, say, nine equal parts and have each saved as a separate page (or image). (I will then print out all nine and stick them together as a single image of huge size. (My initial image will have a huge number of pixels making sure that each of the final images will have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.)) I have Photo and Publisher. I have looked at the slice tool but don't think it can do what I want. Is there a way to accomplish this in either Photo or Publisher? If not, does anyone know a stand-alone app that can do this? Thanks for any suggestions. Robin
  4. Hi, I have 2 artboards for wine labels. Everytime i go to slice mode to output them, the program locks up and crashes. It doesn't even show the slice mode, locks up before that. this is new to 1.7.2.471 Here are screen captures to the progression on the crash. Gary
  5. Hi, I'm just getting started with Affinity Photo after using Photoshop for a long time, so I might have completely overlooked the solution, but here's what I'm trying to achieve: I would like to export a slice of my photos at a set resolution (N x M pixels), but I cannot figure out how if it's possible. I've seen the other hardcoded values, but is there a way to create my own? Thanks! Robert
  6. This happened to me after trying affinity designer ipad for one week with no problem, suddenly the export won't work. when i try to export artboard(s), it opened the Files App but it looks like Files App got wrong command, no "ok" button (see video). now I'm stuck with export button (in dropdown menu, nit from slice) and it's so annoying because i have to export multiple artboard one by one. i tried reinstalling the Files app but it doesn't get normal, haven't tried reinstalling the affinity designer app. please help. 9A7525E6-43A2-4B66-A202-C8D4E58F49DF.MP4
  7. I have been trying and trying to get Slice Export to work for me on Affinity Designer iPad. I watched the tutorial video on how to do it. It just doesn't work for me. I tried exporting to iPad folder and also to various iCloud folders as well, nothing, it just doesn't export anything.
  8. I am using Designer to make assets for a board game, and the slice tool is really great for separating into the digital vs print needs. However, when I open them to print, it's made assumptions about the scaling. I'm exporting at 300dpi because that's the print size but most are scaling them to fit. If I manually export, I can set the scaling and paper size. Is there any way for me to change these settings upon batch export? If not, does anyone have any workflow suggestions to do this? I can't be the only one with this problem.
  9. I think I'm missing something very obvious here but the Slice sector tool in Export Persona, will not let me select or adjust a slice size. (AD v1.6.1) Any ideas?
  10. On Affinity Photo I want to export an entire black image to a 3x3 square of slices. As this square is bigger than original image, 8 exported slices but the center's one have extra pixels. When I exported slices, these extra pixels are white. I want them to be black. I tried many tricks without success: change background color of image, add a square below the image and fill it with black... No success. Extra pixels are always white. Is there a way to achieve this goal? Original image Mosaic of slices Slices As you can see, extra background is white. Top left slice
  11. Hey everyone! I'm unsure whether or not this is a bug. When exporting slices, they have to be set to retina (2x) in order to get the intended full resolution. Besides being an extra step, this unnecessarily adds "@2" prefixes to all the slices even though it's just supposed to be at once the resolution chosen on file creation. Best wishes, Shu
  12. Hey everyone! When I want to export layers, most of the time, I need the full file resolution. Exporting like that would be much more efficient if there was a shortcut for using the document bounds for the current slice or an option for automatically assign document bounds for new slices. Best wishes, Shu
  13. Hey everyone! It would be useful if there was an option to only show the selected slice. Personally, I need to export slices at full file resolution and having hundreds of slices on top of each other overlaps their header, so I cannot read it. Besides that, I ran into performance problems at about 100 slices, which may be somewhat better without so much overdraw. Best wishes, Shu
  14. I’m making a webtoon on an iPad and put texts on Affinity Photo. However, the length of my Webtoon is very long and I want to be able to cut the photo in to 3 so that it can fit the size requirements for Webtoon. I was doing this in Photoshop using the slice tool, but it would be REALLY cool if Affinity photo can do this as well! I know that it might be a very minor tool for most other users, but it would make Affinity Photo feel even more professional too! Thank for reading
  15. Hi. How to rename multiple slices? Batch renaming possible? Thanks!
  16. Hi, I've watched a few videos and understand that you can have multiple artboards exported as separate file. When I have multiple artboards open and then click on export persona, it doesn't do the auto slice action. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Ian
  17. Hello! This is a FYI request from an Android Developers view. I am an Android Developer and tried your program as a tool to export some PSD-file-mockups of a App-design. I really like the program so far with all its functionality and I do like the "export-persona". But one thing is really anoying. There is an option, when you export a slice, to choose what should be in the file-name. You can there choose the "scale-suffix" This puts an "@1x", "@2x", "@3x" in your filename to seperate the files in a really sufficiant way. This is a amazing on MAC where the "@X" suffix has a real use. BUT, when it comes to Android development this is a real pain. This is the error straight from Android studio: "Error: '@' is not a valid file-based resource name character: File-based resource names must contain only lowercase a-z, 0-9, or underscore" This means that I now have to go and rename all those files by hand, wich was something I wanted to avoid with exporting the files through Affinity Designer. There is an simple fix for this. Make a new suffix that is made for android without the "@" and it will be perfect. Thank you for your time! //Simon
  18. Hi, I have a PDF logo in Affinity Designer on a large art board and created a slice in the export persona. How can I change the size of the slice? When I change the size down under in the transform panel the logo stays the same size! Regards & Thanks, David
  19. The slice tool is a nice feature to have, but it would be even nicer if there was more control and ways to adjust it. This is too bare-bones.
  20. Hello, I couldn't find an answer to this so apologies if I missed. I'm not a heavy user of the Designer but I thought it should be straight forward: Designing an UI for embedded device with multiple screens. I created separate artboards for each screen, all scattered across so I can see them all. I used the Export Persona to create slices for each on-screen element (buttons etc.). I need their coordinates to use in the code. While in Draw Persona, every element has XY coordinates related to the artboard. When I switch to Export, the elements that are not on the "initial" artboard have their XY related to that initial artboard. As example: - two artboards 320x240 px. side by side - both have a button in top left corner (and in the Draw Persona both have their XY = 0,0) - slice of the button on the first arboard has XY = 0,0 - slice of the button on the second has XY = 370,0 I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe my approach is not right. Attached image shows example slice in a tiny artboard (71x85 but the element's XY=644,476):
  21. Dear Affinity Staff, I am very happy with my purchase. Here’s a little thing that might make it better, more non-destructive in spirit. Right now, I can crop, and then unclip canvas if I change my mind. I often get some dead space around the pixel layers but I’m sure you will work that out eventually. But how cool would it be if I didn’t have to crop in the first place? The slices principle of the export persona appears to be perfectly suited for this, but I find it inconvenient to use at the moment. I would like an option to force ratio (2:3, 4:5, etc. ) and an option for showing the overlays (rule of thirds, golden spiral etc). That way, if my parents or in-laws neglect to tell me the aspect ratio of their picture frame, I can quickly and conveniently export a range of perfectly composited slices of pictures of their grandchildren! I know a modifier key will constrain the ratio but then I have hit the 4:5 ratio perfectly somehow at some point.... thanks for reading. Wouter
  22. There is no way to save and then turn on and off different sets of slices for export. In my document, I have a set of slices which I want to export in high res, and another set I want in low res; but I don't want to export BOTH at the same time, sometimes I only want to export the high res, and another time the low res... It would be beneficial to be able to have an option to save multiple sets of checked slices and quickly switch between these sets, specially in documents like mine with 50+ slices. Thanks for your consideration.
  23. Slices: Why is slicing in Affinity Designer soooooooooo awkward? Changing the size? Copy or duplicate a slice? Too many attributes in the panel that don't interest me at first Isn't it possible yet? Or didn't i find it :-( Take a look to "SketchApp" from the Bohemian Team :-) (moved from feature roadmap by mod)
  24. Hi I'm using the latest Affinity Designer version 1.6 from the AppStore. IIRC in the previous version when i duplicate an artboard/layer, it automatically duplicated on Export persona as a slice. This is very convenient, because i could easily modify as needed and rename it as new image name (as slice name to be exported). But in the current version when i duplicate an artboard i have to create a new slice to export. I'm working with UI assets with hundreds artboard. Each artboard could be unique but most them are a variation of previous design. It's very tedious to create a new slice, rename it as the layer/artboard each time new assets created from the duplication. Please bring back the previous behaviour, or at least an option to do so. Thanks
  25. Title says it all. And sorry if this is an obvious or already answered question, I didn't really know what this would be called to search for it. I have multiple files, all with the same layout, that need to be sliced the same. Can I batch slice? Thanks!
