  1. Hi All, was wondering if I can now ditch the separate shortcut files for the separate apps now? I have three files, AffinityShortcut.affshortcuts AffinityPhotoShortcut.affshortcuts AffinityDesignerShortcut.affshortcuts ...Assuming that I am happy with my current shortcuts in either of the apps, am I able to save over just the AffinityShortcut.affshortcuts and delete the other two, and in future only update the single file? I seem to half remember that the apps originally had separate shortcut files but have since been merged, making the two individual files redundant? Just wanted to double check before I hit the Delete button! Thanks Wayne
  2. Do you forget about the shortcut to get back to Draw Persona?
  3. Hello everyone! Is there a way to access makros via shortcut? If not, could somebody move this topic to feature requests please? It would probably be best to be able to repeat the last makro used via shortcut. Best wishes, Shu
  4. Hi! Imagine you enter a text with another input language and keyboard layout. It is then inconvenient to switch back and forth input languages just to use shortcuts (e.g., 'V' for Move Tool is 'М' in Russian layout). Please, make shortcuts dependent on key values rather than input symbols. PS: Excuse me if it is not the problem and there is a workaround for my case. I'm new to AD. PPS: That topic is similar to https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/495-keyboard-layout-independance/
  6. To change brush size we can use: ALT+ RMB + LMB and drag left or right to change the size or up/down to change hardness. Can I change it to ALT+RMB + drag? (without LMB)
  7. Read that you were working on more/ changeable shortcuts. Nice! :) I think shortcuts and the ability to change them have a big influence on your overall software experience. The less you have to navigate to menus and panels, the faster you can draw. What I think would benefit the Affinity Designer experience: Adjustable shortcuts Save your under your own name and be able to change them all. Shortcuts for everything I understand that the developers might not want to add a shortcut to every program "action", but as a user if there is something that I do a lot in my illustrating process, I want to reach it superfast through a shortcut. If it's under a dropdown, menu or even submenu that takes too much time. I want to shorten that time. The "everything" part is about the clickable icons and sliders that don't have a (default) shortcut. (New layer, lock layer, increase line width) Giving the user the freedom to edit those. Changing the location of your shortcut file. So you can put it in your Dropbox, or on a part of your Mac you wont format when doing a clean install. It could be a window during install like the one asking where it can install. "Where would you like us to save your keyboard shortcuts (for easy backup if you do a clean install later)" Default shortcut sets Based on different other (vector) software. This would make it easier for a person coming from Adobe illustrator, Coreldraw, Sketch or Manga Studio to jump in and use the shortcuts he's been using for years. I imagine a window after first start asking the user: If you tell us which software you used most before finding Affinity Designer, we will make sure (most of) the shortcuts are in the same place. Kind of like the browsers do after install, trying to get your bookmarks and stuff from other browsers to increase the chance you never go back to your old browser. ;) Live editing Being able to edit the shortcut of an icon by (cmd?) clicking on it and having it open a small window with the current (if there is one) short cut and the option to add your new one. Now there are just too many steps to edit a shortcut. 1. Remember what the function is called (i.e lock layer / increase line width) 2. Find the shortcuts menu. 3 Search for the function. 4. Edit it. 5. Save it. 6. Close the shortcuts menu. Being able to do that on the fly could reduce the actions by half. I think shortcuts with the options stated above would translate to (super) speed & focus. Compare it to wanting the interface to be as calm and subtle as possible so you "see" it less and focus on your drawing. Being able to add a shortcut to everything allows you use the interface less and focus even more.
  8. In Preferences, Shortcuts, the text on the individual items that can be reassigned has been changed from light gray on a dark gray background to black text on a dark gray background. This is NOT an improvement! As should have been obvious by simply comparing the text on the top of the panel to that within the lower part. Please! Stop making it harder for some of us to use this app.
  9. My workflow usually starts importing images from SVG/PDF then customizing them. Then I'm often toggling the stroke "scale with object" setting. It would be fantastic if there was a way to create a shortcut key for this. It wouldn't need to be a default shortcut, but one I could customize with the preferences shortcut keys.
  10. The ability to assign new and change existing keyboard shortcuts like in Photoshop.
  11. When I tried to zoom in to 400% in my drawing just now, I was surprised to find that Ctrl+4 gave me a zoom level of 800% instead of the 400% that I expected. Using Ctrl+3 for 400% seems very unintuitive! We already have defaults of Ctrl+1 and Ctrl+2 for zoom levels of 100% and 200%. Wouldn't it be better to have defaults of Ctrl+4 and Ctrl+8 for zoom levels of 400% and 800%?
  12. Will there be Shortcuts for accessing the Library and the Macro Panels in Photo 1.5, like there is for all or most of the rest of Studio? I would prefer to make as few a trips to the Studio fly-out as possible. Shortcuts are faster and less disruptive of the workflow.
  13. Hi, i tried to assign shortcuts "Strg+ +" and "Strg+ -" for layer to top and to bottom of the document. I have deleted these two working default shortcuts for zoom in/out before. "Strg+ -" works and puts the selected layer to the bottom, but typing "Strg+ +" doesn't move this one to top. I think, there might be a few problems with the german keyboard (keys) implementation in AD? The key "#" has also an (shift) " ' " on the same key, but it isn't recognized by AD in the shortcuts, although i accidentially saw both symbols together (what should be impossible?) in the shortcuts, but i don't know how i did it.... As an example, I succeeded with the following shortcuts for top "#" and bottom "Strg+ #". When i switch the keyboard layout to ENG, AD is aware of it and is showing different shortcuts: "/" and "Strg+ /" and both are doing the job.
  14. I'd like to see support added for SHIFT+DEL, CTRL+INS, SHIFT+INS shortcuts for cut / copy / paste, as is standard across many Windows applications. This is in addition to the existing CTRL+X, CTRL+C, CTRL+V shortcuts that already exist. Currently it's only possible to reassign the existing shortcuts rather than add additional ones, and it isn't possible to assign SHIFT+DEL. My earlier comments and related discussion on this topic here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/22639-affinity-designer-public-beta-1507-windows/?p=107136
  15. I've spent quite a bit of time creating the shortcuts that I have used in other programs and that work for me. That includes tracking down and deleting all the conflicts with pre-assigned shortcuts. Which by the way, is a lot easier to do in other programs where entering a shortcut will, after a warning and confirmation of intent, simply overwrite the original shortcut. My problem is that Affinity Photo will not remember the conflict resolutions. The next time I open the app, the conflicts are back. I've tried Saving the Shortcuts...after carefully resolving the conflicts one more freaking time!...and then Loading them back in on re-open. And there the conflicts are again. Is the a bug? Is this a glitch caused by my use of Mountain Lion? And I end on my usual cry...What am I doing wrong?
  16. I seem to have managed to pick up a wonderful AD keyboard template PDF from somewhere, but I have no idea where from (there isn't a "downloads" or "resources" section on the Affinity website which is IMHO an omission). I find templates handy because they speed up the shortcut learning process, a lesson I learned long ago in the days of WordPerfect and Wordstar :). The challenge: I would like to adjust it as the key outlines are too faint for me (on account of the negative correlation between experience and eyesight), so I was wondering if Affinity was willing to release the source of this document (at least, I hope it was done in AD). You can pull the PDF into AD and edit it, but if there is an actual AD starting point I would prefer that, and it would also help others who may have to work with different layouts. So, in summary: 1 - where can others download this AD keyboard shortcut PDF from? 2 - is there a more "AD native" version available? Ditto for Affinity Photo. Cheers! 17. I know there's got to be a quick keyboard shortcut to activate the Select tool from a Zoom state, but I cannot make any of the shortcuts I'm seeing work. When I zoom up close, then click on the item in the layers list, the selection tool displays on the list; but when I go back to my workspace and click (which is intuitive behavior for me because I feel like I've selected already), I zoom in another level, which I never want. (I'm usually custom-kerning type when I do this.) I have to remember to click the layer, mouse to/select the Selection tool, and then click on the workspace. I'm wasting an awful lot of time having to do this and, when I forget, to undo the extra zoom level, then click through everything again. The screenshots I've attached don't show the relevant cursors, but in the smaller image, I'm clicking on the layer TITLE in the layers list and I've got a selection-tool cursor. When I go back to the workspace, the cursor shows the zoom-plus tool, and if I click on it I get zooming, which I don't want. Ideally, I wish I could change the behavior so when I click on the layer TITLE, it switches me into selection mode in the workspace by default. What am I doing wrong? Or what is the quickest way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? TIA. Diane
  18. I know that you are working on adding the ability to scale, move, & rotate only selected nodes of a shape in the workspace, but I don't know if this will enable being able to select several nodes & using the break curve Action button to break them all with one click. That would be a real timesaver for me since as things are now I can only break a curve at one node at a time (& if two or more are selected there is no indication that no break has occurred). Another timesaver would be keyboard shortcuts for at least this action, if not all of them. As an aside, the knife tool already on the roadmap might make this feature irrelevant if it includes the ability to 'snap' to nodes for precision cuts.
  19. Hi, One thing I really miss in Affinity Photo (and Designer) is the ability to resize objects using keyboard only. Is there any way to achieve this? Regards.
  20. As a user with two layouts I tend to switch between my native Russian and English often. I'd love for Designer app's shortcuts to ignore my layout and just work when i'm not in English layout.
  21. Greetings! I am a long time PS user and recently I am trying to switch to AP for most of my workflow. I am however still struggling with few issues so I was hoping to get some feedback here to make my work with AP easier :-) Sorry in advance for such a long list, but I don't want to spam this forum with multiple posts. 1) Is there any shortcut for Perspective tool? I am using it a lot (in PS it's Cmd+T and Cmd+click on corners). How to use Perspective tool non-destructively? So far the layer needs to be converted to pixels to use Perspective tool. I am looking for something like Smart Objects where you can easily transform dimensions without loosing any information. 2) Converting text to curves when pressing Cmd+Enter is for me not a good option. I am sooo used to this shortcut from PS that I am almost always converting the text to curves instead of just finishing text editing (which is in AP done using the Esc key where in PS it cancels the editing – is there by the way any shortcut to cancel editing in AP?). 3) Is there any tool similar to polygonal lasso tool from PS? I would like to make straight angled selections but not just rectangles. 4) Cropping with rotation on small resolution images produces jagged lines in image. Is there any way how to get rid of this?I need to perform cropping in PS to get desirable results and then to switch back to AP. 5) Is there any shortcut to reset colors to black and white? (in PS it's "D" key - it's useful when masking with brush tool) 6) Is there any easier way to pick color than to switch to brush tool (B key) and hold Alt key while dragging? (in PS it's "I" key and click) 7) How the Flood fill tool actually works on layers? So far I have found that to fill the object visible on layer I have to select the layer, then select Flood fill tool and select the color in swatches. When I select the color and click anywhere in the layer it does not do anything. 8) Is there any way how to transform selection? I know you can grow/shrink selection (Cmd+B), but I am looking for more precise way. 9) Thank you for reading this all up to this point ;-) Petr
  22. Please consider adding user-defined Shortcuts for the individual Panels in Studio. It would unclutter real estate for those of us with smaller screens (21" in my case) and save so much time now used in dragging panels in and out of the stack so that I can see ALL of the entries or options. Rather than clicking on a (drawer?) to open it, scrolling to find the option or entry, then clicking to close it again, I could simply use my non-drawing hand to hit a key combo to open the panel full length, make my selection, and close it again with the shortcut to return to a full uncluttered work surface. There are a number of functions/tools that I have little to no use for that I could use more productively for the Panels. And no, turning the whole Studio On or Off does not solve the scroll problem. To end on a more positive note, the work you have already done on Shortcuts is fantastic. And we do appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into trying to make things as easy and smooth for us as possible.
  23. Hi I'm a Dane trying out affinity. My problem is: our keyboards look different from the US keyboard (see attachment). We have three additional letters. I have found US shortcuts list and most of them works perfectly. BUT the increase/decrease brush size doesn't work as our three additional letters is placed where the shortcut should be. Is there another shortcut I can use? Or can I make my own shortcut? //Søren Bjerg
  24. Duplication is Command + J, Grouping is Command + G, which I find used a lot, yet they are “zoned” on opposite sides of the keyboard due to reach of each key with one hand (while the other is on the mouse or drawing tablet). Workflow commands like duplication, grouping, copy, paste would be much better UX wise to keep commands that are common to one side of the keyboard. (imo) So, suggestion is to make Command + D the default duplication shortcut.
  25. What are the current KB shortcuts for Designer (v. 1.3.5)? They keep changing! For example, the last shortcuts I can find to alter text size were "Command >" and "Command<", but those don't work now. Having to go to the Text Menu and increase or decrease text size ONE POINT AT A TIME is a big pain in the neck. I wish you guys would design a KB shortcut layout and stick to it. Or at least make shortcuts more standard, like using some variation of the "+" and "-" keys to alter text size (like maybe "Option+" and "Option-"). Or better yet, make shortcuts customizable. For the most part I love Affinity Designer, but it's the little, basic glitches like this that can drive you nuts about it.
