  1. I would like to suggest to the programming team of (not only!) afpub/seriflabs to convoke a dedicated team to have a fundamental view on the shortcut system. I'm in typesetting, typography and graphics since about 25 years, and I use to use shortcuts as often as I can. I've seen coming and going Quark, InDesign and much more. And I do not demand, that shortscuts should be always the same (that's impossible). But it would be very very useful, if there are shortcuts applied to functions from the most important one/most used menu points down to the more "apocrythal" menue items... I just finished very successfully my first greater piece of design with afpub, an artist's catalogue with 148 pages. I'm enthusiast about afpub! It's a real great piece of software. But there have been a lot of routine tasks, where I missed a shortcut. (e.g. certain spaces in typography, jump to page ..., in text: continue in next column/frame/page and much more). Everyone here in forum will demand it's own "important shortcuts". There will be a mess (and I think, there *is* already a mess if we open a public discussion or poll. Therefore there should be a dedicated team, focused on the shortcut-system in afpub (and certain shortcuts over all three personas). Even if I would have to learn the shortcuts in new in a future version of afpub. That doesn't matter. But "lots of shortscuts are better than missing a shortcut for often used actions". 2. Hi there, I just finished my first illustration on Affinity Photo, and I can finally think I've found a good alternative to Adobe's softwares Especially one where I can recreate some of my long term habits from Adobe and remain efficient. The only problem I encounter is that I'm really, really used to control the size of my tools with the 2 and 3 key on the top left of the pad (so, rather the é and "). I find it to be the most comfortable for me as my left hand is always around there on the keypad while I'm drawing (oh look, there's also the ctrl and z keys nearby ). Well, so, it was quite disturbing that these num keys, by default, control the tool opacity and you can't change it at all. For now I've combined them with "alt" to control the brush/eraser size but (when I don't forget to press alt) it sometimes creates a conflict with the color picker shortcut (and I'm also used to constantly pick colors with alt). I don't know if I'm the only one wo needs to customize these keys but it would be really great if we could. Thank you and keep up the good work Serif !
  3. It would be possible to add a shortcut to change the size, opacity or hardness of the tools more quickly, as can be done in photoshop, that by pressing high and normal click you can vary the size and hardness of the brush, in general for all tools.
  4. Hi devs and fellow affinity users! I am someone who loves using design aids in my workflow but having to constantly turn them all off one by one just to see how my design looks can be very time consuming (and sometimes confusing when using shortcuts for each one). The feature i'm requesting is basically being able to show/hide all the design aids ALTOGETHER such as but not necessarily limited to: bleeds, margins, guides, grids, column guides, etc. Instead of having a separate option for this which I think is unnecessary, I think this could be a useful upgrade for the "Clip to Canvas" option AND to have all contents on the bleed be clipped too since they're not really part of the final design (at least in my case). What do you guys think? I'd be happy to have a conversation with anyone! (I've tried to search if there's a post related to this but it seems like there isn't, and if this feature already exists please do let me know.)
  5. The current way to adjust handlers is too difficult (Using RMB and LMB at the same time). A new tool to adjust handles would fix this inconvenience. _ Otherwise: An option in the settings: keyboard shortcut miscellanious for the adjustment of handles (for example, instead of RMB & LMB I change it to be Shift + LMB or so).
  6. I have noticed that the text leading override shortcut (alt+up/down arrow) stops working for some text blocks but works for new text blocks in the same Affiniy Deisgn file. If it happens to any text block, I need to go and do in the character properties windows by entering the number manually or pressing the arrow key - but this really hampers the workflow and speed. It seems to be happening randomly to some text box and I have not been able to find the reason for it and not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it's just a bug. If I am doing something wrong - it would be great to know how to avoid it, if not, it would be great if this can be fixed soon. This behavior continues even if the file is opened in Affinity Photos (haven't checked with Publisher yet). I have attached an example .afdesign file for you to try it out. leading override shortcut isn't working for some text.afdesign
  7. Hi, I'm looking for the shortcuts for a AZERTY keyboard. The following ones here don't fully work for me... I can change tools using z, j, ... no issue. But I still can't change my tool/brush width the easy way. https://shortcuts.design/toolspage-affinityphoto.html https://affinityspotlight.com/article/downloadable-affinity-keyboard-shortcut-cheat-sheets/ Thanks a lot in advance
  8. When text is highlighted and the subscript shortcut key (Command, Option, control, down arrow) is pressed there is no effect. The menu dropdown works fine, and the superscript shortcut key works, but the subscript shortcut does not.
  9. Since i do very often some repetitive work where i type also a lot of repetitive words, i already made myself a big list of shortcuts in the iOS ”text replacement” options.. it would be great to integrate all those shortcuts in the AP app for iOS.. so, no new option in AP settings, just to connect the native iOS shortcuts to AP, so AP uses them as well.. and i guess it would be nice also for AD to have the same option (not sure if it already has, i use the app rarely)
  10. Hello. Someone posted this several months ago, I found it in the pre 1.7 thread. It seems it hasn't been addressed, it still doesn't work. I'm using Win 10, Affinity Photo version 1.7.1.404. (Microsoft store version). Here's the original post... Using a full-size UK keyboard, arrow keys (up/down/left/right) aren't recognised when customising keyboard shortcuts. In the below example, it won't allow the user to add the default keyboard shortcut back again (Alt-Right), as none of the keyboard arrow keys are recognised. In this situation the user would need to reset all the keyboard shortcuts back to default.
  11. Is there any possibility in Affinity Photo 1.7.1 with the Selection Brush Tool to change the Mode Add or Substract by shortcut? Maybe someone can help me …
  12. Just a little remark. I noticed that, with the 1.7 update, the shortcut Ctrl + J to duplicate a layer has now been assigned to Duplicate Selection .... ! Must therefore be adjusted manually for the time being.
  13. Hello Affinity Photo development team, I'm a newbie to your program, but have worked as a digital illustrator for several years. Affinity Photo is a really nice program - a nice alternative to Photoshop. It could be a great program for digital illustrators and painters... But it is missing a critical option for higher speed efficiency: a fast color picker option by pressing "Ctrl" or "Alt" This is present in Photoshop, Corel Painter, Krita, OpenCanvas, PaintStorm Studio, etc. It is very important to painters to be able to access the color picker quickly. When you hold down "Ctrl" or "Alt" and click on the color - it color picks it. Then when you let go of the "Ctrl" or "Alt" key, it goes back to the tool you were using before. When you have to switch between brush and color picker, this wastes twice the amount of time. An extra second or fraction of a second may not seem like a lot - but it adds up. A painting that would take 2 hours, takes 4 hours. A piece that would take 1 day, takes 2 days. 1 week turns into 2 weeks, etc. This would be a great addition to Affinity Photo - for all artists. One last idea... Is allowing the user to "fix" the color wheel triangle in a fixed position - instead of having it rotate all around pointing at the chosen color. Why? Because having lightness point up, darkness point down, and saturation point right - is far easier for the brain to process than having the triangle flip all around the wheel... it makes picking specific shades across different colors inconsistent.. harder to match the same saturation position on different colors... because it has changed position. It's easier for the brain to map out the color triangle when it's fixed in one position. White up - black down - and saturation to the right.. Would be far easier to remember for artists - who need consistency, and speed in color picking. Thank you immensely for viewing and considering these ideas!!
  14. Sorry to bother with Fireworks features but this one I happened to use a lot. In AD, zooming in with CTRL/+ currently zooms in on the center of the viewport. Fireworks used to do that when you didn't have anyuthing selected. However, if you selected an element on your viewport and hit CTRL/+ you'd zoom in on the selection until ultimately it's full screen centered (similar to double clicking on a thumbnail in the layers panel). Makes sense since you're working on those and want to watch them closer, not?
  15. Hello everyone! This is another feature request. I'd like to request a feature that lets users of Designer and Photo use tools in a straight way when holding shift. For example, when I want to draw a straight line, holding down shift should draw a line between starting point and current cursor location. This behaviour should be added to other tools as well. If I want to use the "Smudge Brush Tool" or the "Inpainting Brush Tool" in a straight way, there is currently no way of doing so that I'm aware of. Adding shift + alt for snapping to multiples of 45° between starting point and current cursor location could be very useful as well. Also, I do know about left clicking using the "Paint Brush Tool", then holding shift and clicking at the end point to get a straight line. But this behaviour is limited to that tool and you don't get a live preview of the line or snapping to multiples of 90° or 45°. The "Free hand Selection Tool" includes a similar feature to the one that I just requested. The difference is that the existing feature doesn't use the cursor location when left mouse clicking for its starting point, but rather the cursor location when starting to hold shift. This does make sense for that specific tool, but I think other tools would benefit from a set starting point at the time when mouse left is clicked. And that existing feature doesn't seem to have any snapping options either, which could be useful sometimes. Best wishes, Shu
  16. I love how each tool can have its own double tap shortcut but the shortcut options are limited. My favorite use of the pencil so far is doing alpha masks. It’s so perfect, precise, and quick in the app + pencil that I’ll probably never do curve selections for cutouts again! One very common task when drawing alpha masks is to switch between black and white colors to draw what part of the layer is visible (white) and what part is hidden (black) Request: Allow double tap shortcut for pencil that switches between two colors, kinda like hitting the X key in photoshop. This will let me quickly swap between black and white brush tool colors when working on alpha masks.
  17. Cmd+Space is old fashion switch command of macOS. Still many people assign this as input switch but default command(Ctrl+Space)
  18. Hi Everyone, i'm not sure if it's a bug, but i use "insert filler text" a lot, so i decided to give it a shortcut. Usualy when i use the text menu i get classic "Lorem ipsum", but since i have created a shortcut i have what seems to me pieces of "Alice in wonderland". Is that known? Looks like an easter egg of some sort. Haven't found options to set it to "Lorem ipsum". Any idea? Thx ! Ben
  19. In Lightroom, if I want to change from landscape to portrait, or vice versa, in any given crop setting. I can hit Ctrl x, and it does it quickly. Is there such a shortcut in Affinity without having to type in the orientation change on the tool bar? I have searched in preferences, but I have not found it. Thanks
  20. There is a shortcut to past an object inside another. Is there a shortcut to undo that? I only see the multi-step option to find the pasted object in the layers panel and release....
  21. It would be faster to access the STUDIO list of palettes if STUDIO was on the menu, perhaps between "View" and "Window". No doubt it is a major programming shuffle but accessing STUDIO is done frequently and one click is faster than two. Giving STUDIO a CTRL+? or ALT/CMD+? shortcut would help, too. And/or, make an icon for STUDIO so we can put it on the Toolbar if not on the menu. TKS.
  22. Hi, I’m pretty sure I’m missing something obvious, but how do you exit the text editing mode without having to switch tools in Affinity Designer ? In Photoshop cmd + return will do this, but in AD it converts the text to curves (witch leads to numerous errors on my part. So much that I now have changed the shortcut). If there is a way I would love to hear about it otherwise, I would love to see this added.
  23. Hello there, shortcuts for tools have a bit annoying functions (atleast for me). First one is when you press a shortcut more than one time it cycles through other "modes" of that tool (this I solved with rebinding a keymap). Second one is when you press shortcut more than one time and you previously pressed another tool then it switches you back to that previous tool. Now this second one I wasn't able to solve and it is disturbing my workflow. Is there a way to turn it off somehow? Thank you, T.
  24. Hello, What happened to the feature on Ipad that color picker appears when I press the pen 2sec on the screen? It was really useful in my workflow for blending colours... How can I pick/blend colors in the easiest and most efficient way now? Thanks, N.
  25. Mac standard keyboard shortcut for moving the cursor to the end of the line is cmd+right arrow; moving to end of word is alt+right arrow. In APub, cmd+right arrow gives end of word, alt+right arrow does nothing. Is this deliberate, or a bug? I find it really confusing, as it's a shortcut I've got used to, and use quite often.
