  1. Hey all, Is there any way to recognise/use the enter key on the numeric keypad as a »regular« enter key? I can't get it mapped as I don't even know where I would set it under the shortcuts. But I would find it incredibly more intuitive this way than having to reach across half the keyboard afterwards to confirm (or alternatively use the mouse to find the appropriate button to confirm) after entering values in a transform process. I noticed this especially during the cropping process with the cropping tool in Photo. I would like to confirm the process, but the numeric keypad enter key is not assigned at all and only gets the error tone. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to set this up, if that's even possible? And if not: well, why hasn't that been an option for a long time? I couldn't be the only one who was bothered by this, could I? 😅 Cheers!
  2. Using a Wacom tablet, I am missing out on the option to edit both handles of a node simultaneously. When I drag and right click (I have a button assigned to right click in the Wacom driver) it always opens the right click menu for me. While this does not happen when using a mice, the choice of right mouse is rather uncomfortable as you also need to left click and drag for it to activate. Instead, I propose to use Ctrl + Shift as hotkey for Windows (instead of drag + right mouse). This is the hotkey used in most other apps to do this sort of thing.
  3. Please could the Preferences search box also search the Keyboard Shortcuts? At present if I am trying to find an action to check / alter the Keyboard Shortcut I have to know where that shortcut resides. If I don't (and I may not even know whether a shortcut can be assigned to a given action) then I have to trawl through the whole list. Even better - filter the shortcuts by the search term to remove all the options that I don't want to see. Case in point: I'd like to find whether I can assign a shortcut to Show Rotation Centre, and have gone cross eyed looking for the option! Thanks.
  4. Tried searching and did not see this subject come up. In V2 of Designer for Mac, I am attempting to use the New Layer shortcut, however the listed shortcut COMMAND+OPTION+N opens a new document instead of creating a new layer. I can't see that there is another shortcut in the File menu nor in the MACOS System Prefs>Keyboard... Anyone else resolve this WITHOUT changing the New Layer shortcut in Designer 2? 2019 MacBook Pro \ MacOs 13.0.1
  5. Please introduce a spacebar to zoom option in Affinity apps, it is much more accessible. For people who have acces to a three (or more button) mouse and/ or a pen tablet with remappable buttons, it would be neat to set zooming to Spacebar. I don't like the Ctrl+Spacebar zoom, especially since you need to press Ctrl first. However, with the aforementioned input devices, it is fair to assume users can leverage a middle mouse button to pan their view. I for one never use spacebar for panning at all. Whereas in Krita, I am able to opt to zooming by pressing just the spacebar and click dragging my pen. Anyone who wants a simplified zooming experience should be able to configure this, whereas those without such devices can still use the existing navigation methods.
  6. Zoom-in shortcut should be ⌘= rather than ⌘+. It's Ctrl = on Windows. why it's different on Mac? Though ⌘= works with the US keyboard, it does not work with the JIS(Japanese) keyboard. On JIS Keyboard, - "=" is on the same key with "-." - "+" is on the same key with ";." The result is: - ⌘= does not work. - ⌘+(⌘⇧;) conflicts with the spell check.
  7. The option to adjust Brush Size to be Alt + Right Click like it is in Photoshop. I've seen posts since V1 requesting this and I'm surprised this hasn't been added yet. Affinity's current combo of Ctrl + Alt + Left Click just feels really clunky and unnecessarily complicated. I've used Affinity for years now and it still feels odd. Giving us that option to change it in Preferences > Shortcuts menu would be great! Especially with new users switching to V2 from Photoshop would help ease them in better. Loving V2 so far! Keep it up Serif!
  8. Hey Affinity team, this continues to be one of my recurring pains with the entire suite, and as someone who loves navigating menus and input fields with the keyboard it drives me crazy. I've raised the issue some years before, but I can't seem to find it again here on the forum. The (mis-)behaviour is incredibly annoying if you are used to working with keyboard shortcuts – every other software has a logical sequence for jumping/changing the active field with tabs. As far as the whole Affinity suite is concerned, I only recognise fragmentary connections that do not correspond to any logic, and this is independent of the desktop operating system (Mac/Win). Sometimes the cursor jumps to the next field, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes you get a hint or error tone. The key combination Shift + Tab, which normally jumps to the previous field, does not work either. Therefore: Please, it would be great if you could clean up the logic in the suite – even if it costs a lot of time, talking about creating tab-enabled forms in Acrobat. 😪. In addition, tabbed navigation also allows for better accessibility. I would love to see and improvement on this matter in a future update! 🙂 Cheers Dennis
  9. I think the default shortcut for the Convert to Curve(Ctrl/CMD Return) is problematic. Many people accidentally do that while editing text and don't notice until later. I saw multiple complains on social media. Though it can be changed in the Preferences, the default shortcut need to be reconsidered.
  10. I read that the windows shortcut for brush size and hardness are holding Alt + Right Mouse Button and then dragging left/right or up/down. However this is not working for me. Am I doing something wrong?
  11. Hello Affinity Designer community! I have been searching through the already asked questions and I couldn't find my answer so I am posting it here. I am looking for a way to change, or better yet, delete a shortcut for the Rotate View feature. I am on a Mac and the shortcut is ⌘ + Scroll Wheel Up or Scroll Wheel Down (Command + ...) and I am assuming for Windows it's the Windows key. Because it's next to the Zoom shortcut (Option key + Scroll Wheel) I keep messing up my view and I would like to know if there is a way to remove that shortcut. I have looked through the Shortcuts section in the Preferences tab but I couldn't find it. And in general, I couldn't find the shortcut that involve the scroll wheel. Could someone help me out please? Thank you kindly, Robert Reynik
  12. I'm become crazy by a stupid simple task: How to delete something in an selection? I've selected an area (Rect selection) that i want to delete. Then i press the delete key, but it deletes the complete layer!? I've searched in the Edit- and the Selection-Menu, but nothing. Then i use the help to search for delete, and it finds just the Delete Layer command? Searching for that term in google shows me al lot of impressive tricks, but not how to delete the content inside a simple selection. So i switched to Pixelmator to do that in two seconds... - But that's insane, for such a basic function. Where did you hide the simple delete function?
  13. Hello Team Hello Everyone Yes it has been long time since i wrote here, but today i realized while working on a project that i didn't knew how to Break a text into words/lines. I went to help file and found a quick how to ... but realized then when I break text into words or line using Shift+Return, it all become curves and non editable anymore. Is there a way to do that operation without changing the nature of text/object and keep editing it ? your help is welcome. Blessings
  14. When working in the Layers panel, I would love to be able to use the keyboard for certain operations like moving up and down in the layer tree with arrow key selecting layers by typing their names renaming a layer by hitting F2 moving layers up and down by hitting Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down (or Alt, maybe in combination with Shift) selecting layers by holding down the Shift key and using the arrow keys afterwards There might be more useful appliances for keyboard shortcuts.
  15. Hi, Wondering if I can assign a keyboard shortcut on "Mask to Below" in the layer menu. Or can I assign shortcuts for the items in the layer menu? Thanks! CY
  16. I want a shortcut for this feature options: _ Additional Suggestion: If you click using the Node Tool, it could convert the node mode to the next one in a cycle conversion order. or make that a new tool: "Node converter"
  17. Hi there! One Affinity photo feature that is dearly missing for me is a keyboard shortcut to increase and decrease opacity of the currently selected layer. I would need this, so I could map this shortcut to a MIDI controller and be able to quickly set a layer's opacity with said controller. Since there is an ever increasing number of people who use MIDI controllers as quick input devices for the graphic softwares, I believe I am far from the only one who would benefit from such a feature. Currently there is only the possibilty to use the up/down arrow keys (+ shift optionally) to increase and decrease the opacity once I have set the focus to the opacity field. This does not really help me all that much as I would always need to focus this field first, before i can start to change the opacity. It would be great if there could be a global shortcut for this as well, preferrably also with the possibilty to use shift optionally to increase the increments to 10. I would not care if it is an obscure shortcut or if it is even turned off by default, as soon as there is any shortcut for this MIDI users could make use of this and map it to their controllers. Thanks! trych
  18. There are a few threads about kind of similar issues but not exactly like this so i start a new topic, hope that’s ok. I switched from iMac to iPad Pro 12.9”. I store and sort my raw files in Apple Photos and iCloud and I use Affinity Photo For iPad for editing. I want to be able to select an image in Apple Photos and from there open it in Affinity. I found several helpful ways to creating a shortcut here in the forum. The problem is that it’s not working for me. When I click on “Affinity” (which is the name I gave the shortcut) nothing happens. But, and this is where it gets interesting, one single image in my Apple library opens in Affinity as it should. The image that works is originally a raw file from Apple Photos that I opened in Affinity, edited, saved as a JPEG in the iPad Files folder and then saved it back to Apple Photos. That’s the only one that will open when I use the shortcuts. The other JPEGs, PNGs and raw files won’t open. i attached photos of my shortcut settings and the Affinity shortcut in the share sheet. Anyone knows what might be the problem?
  19. Hi there, maybe I'm just blind, but I'm missing shortcut to jump to the next or previous brush in the brushes studio (suggestion: , and .). I'm also missing simple keyboard shortcuts for decreasing and increasing the brush hardness like the shortcuts [ and ] for the brush size. My suggestion would be Shift+[ and Shift+]. Greetz, Tekl
  20. This currently works while in the paint brush tool. It would be super handy if you could sample a color before filling it with the option key. Currently I need to hit i, and then hit g to go back. This becomes cumbersome when sampling and filling multiple areas quickly.
  21. Er, I think the Subject says it! I'd love a Modifier-drag way to change any brush width – vector stroke, _or_ pixel size when in Pixel Persona. But in the short term, I'd be happy if [ and ] grew and shrunk the stroke size – of the current pen/pencil/vector brush, if one of those are selected; or of the selected curve, if the node tool's selected. Thanks for considering this! - pbass
  22. I have read a few threads, but I just want to know if it's still designed not to be able to assign different shortcut for Paint Brush Tool and Pixel Tool on Affinity Designer. Does anyone know? It just doesn't make sense to be customizable.
  23. Observation In Affinity Designer there are multiple input options using the modifier key for shapes, these include: Holding shift to constrain to proportions (square, circle) Holding ctrl to scale the shape from the centre out Hold alt to ignore snapping Hold spacebar to move the shape (this is not in the tool description at the bottom of the window though). Shape and selection feature parity.mp4 Expectation However, in Designer, I may expect this to work for selection tools as well, whereas it currently does not. As you can see from the video, while using the same sequence of actions, there are things I expect to be able to do from using the shapes tool, that I cannot replicate with selection tools. Proposal My proposal for how it ought to behave is listed in italics below the observation of actual behaviour. Shift does constrain proportions (square, circle) This decision means you cannot use shift to add to a selection. In Photoshop, holding shift allows you to do both, first you hold shift to add to a selection (mitigating the need to reach to the toolbar for this) and after the initial click, you can release or press shift again to constrain the shape if needed. Shift constrain selection.mp4 Ctrl does not scale from the centre > it moves the selection with ctrl + LMB However, upon the initial creation of the selection window, with the selection drawn out, I don't see a reason why holding ctrl afterwards would not constrain the selection to be created from the centre. Alt does not ignore snapping > it subtracts from the selection (which is perfectly fine the way it is) Spacebar does not move the selection that is currently created This should be added to make more refined selections possible and to ensure continuity between the tools.
