  3. Hi Everyone! Today I published first episode of 1-minute graphic tips series called "Minutnik graficzny" (graphic stopwatch) #1 How to set the contrast of a photo: I decided to make it in polish, because there is a lot of english content already, however if someone non-polish-speaking would like to check it, there are english subtitles. I believe there are some polish people on this forum, so I hope to get some feedback. I'm going to publish here updates, especially for episodes connected with Affinity sofware. Lets affinitize Poland!
  4. My Strawberry Monkey

    Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey

Hi all, hope all is well, its been a while since I posted any updates. I've finally completed the first of many children's picture books, you may have seen a copy a while back, but I wasn't happy with the end results from the printers and there has been many, many changes. I have also designed the website in Affinity Designer which contains games and free activities for schools and parents. Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey is the series of books and are stories of friendship based around a cute, pink, lovable, but somewhat clumsy monkey who will certainly cause a few chuckles. The website is mystrawberrymonkey.com and you can find our first paperback here on Amazon If you have grandkids, kids, nieces or nephews go check this out! Allan Thompson
  5. Hey guys, I thought I'd post a few of my paintings after using Affinity on my new iPad with the Apple Pencil. Im loving this app for painting on weekends as I use Photoshop on a daily basis for my work as a concept artist/matte painter for film and TV. Im still getting the hang of it but it's fun.
  6. Hey all, I'm really happy to announce that I've just released the first few videos of my passion project, the Shooting Series! What it's about I love photography and video - I'll often go out and shoot specific material for use in the Affinity Photo tutorials to demonstrate certain features, and this has fed into my desire to cover a mixture of well-known and esoteric shooting techniques. It's my goal, then, to produce a video series that looks at all kinds of weird and wonderful photographic techniques - from shooting for stacking (long exposure simulation, noise reduction) to light painting, "big stopper" effects, portrait panoramas, focus stacking landscapes.. the list goes on. I'm constantly gathering material and planning/scripting videos, but I've just put the finishing touches on a few of the videos and felt it was about time to share them. Where applicable, I'll also be providing sample materials to download. Additionally, I've also put accompanying articles up on my website that provide some additional tips and insights. Long Exposure Water - Watch on YouTube - Read article In this video we're looking at the popular technique of using long exposure times to create shots with blurred motion; in this particular case, we're focusing on water. When you shoot water with long exposures, it takes on a smoother, "flowing" and sometimes ethereal appearance. In the video, I cover the use of both variable and fixed Neutral Density filters, as well as square filters with a filter bracket. Burst Stacking - Watch on YouTube - Read article - Download sample images Here we're exploring the use of stacking in post to create a long exposure look from a burst of images. It's a very esoteric technique, but can prove very useful in certain circumstances: you could, for example, find yourself in a situation where you want to achieve a long exposure look to some water, but don't have either a means of stabilisation or any ND filters to cut down the light for a slower shutter speed. I've also provided a ZIP archive with image samples for two of the compositions so you can stack them and see the effect. Big Stopper - Watch on YouTube - Read article - Download sample images In this video we're taking a look at setting up the camera for a "big stopper" effect with landscapes, as well as exploring stacking in post production to both enhance and emulate the effect. Also provided is a ZIP archive with image samples for two of the examples so you can experiment with stacking them. Polarisers - Watch on YouTube - Read article In this short and sweet video we're taking a look at polarisers, examining their benefits and caveats. Portrait Panoramas - Watch on YouTube - Read article Check out how to capture more vertical space in your panoramas by shooting in portrait orientation. --- Hope you find them interesting and useful!
  7. Greetings folks. In this thread I will simply be documenting the journey, of things that I create with Affinity. This is not meant to be a thread for tutorial, rather a thread for what can be made with the software. With that on the side, feel free to ask questions if you have, I will be happy to answer. Cheers!
  8. Hi all, my name is Robert (aka Deadbyxmas!), I'm an illustrator, animator etc and by accident I bumped into Affinity Designer a couple of weeks ago (I was probably googling around for alternatives to Ai....don't we all), tried the demo (in between paid jobs...hmm) and then, once I had a better idea of its workflow, bought it and got cracking with a few sketches and ideas. As usual I tend to explore new software by trial and accident, without tutorials and stuff, so probably I'm still overlooking a lot of its features - I noticed that every time I use it I find a better way around things etc. - but I thought I'd share with you some of my first experiments. Actually I'm not sure what I can share or not here - there is a pic that is proving quite popular on another social site, but is slightly (veeeeeery slightly, I wouldn't even consider it so) risquè, so you tell me - I can direct you to the external link. In the meantime here's my first (nearly) full illustratration done entirely in AD, included the texture masking. best! r.

Hey folks, Been a wee while but I'm back at creating creatures with Affinity Designer (and paper & pencil). Instead of adding a new topic for every one I make, I thought I'd start this new thread to put them all in and show them off to you all. So here's one for ya! :) George
  10. Inspired by Matt's post i decided to give it a try and draw a Lamborghini too in Affinity Designer. Here's what i got so far:
