  1. Affinity Publisher jumbles the search/replace text when adding a special character in the ,replace' field (see video below). 1) Open Find-Replace window 2) Enter text in "find" field 3) Copy that text 4) Paste it in the "replace" field 5) select a character in the "replace" field (in the video a space) 6) select a special character to overwrite the selected character (in the video a nonbreaking space) RESULT: The text in the "replace" field is jumbled EXPECTED RESULT: For the special character to be inserted at the selection and for the remaining text in the field not to change screenshot_ 1.mov
  2. Hello, I am new here and this is my first post. In Affinity Publisher I encounter three problems that in my opinion need to be solved urgently in one of the next updates. 1. function or Tool for formatting and format-change The following scenario is an example, magazine insert: Let us assume that a formatting for the body text (Body 1) was found in the layout process. The process continues, at some point a font is found that you like even better. You make a format for this too (Body 2). This will be used from now on. But what about the text components that are still linked to the old format (Body 1). You want to reformat all texts that are still linked to the Body 1 format into the new Body format in one go. This is what Affinity Publisher does not provide a function for, neither in the context menu of the Text Style panel, nor elsewhere. Now you would have to go into all texts linket to Body 1, detach all Body 1-text from that format first, and assign that piece of text to Body 2, manually. This might be a good idea for a flyer. With longer articles, or a complex non-fiction book etc. this becomes an imposition. Here a function should definitely be implemented. For simple formatting work I also miss a tool for format transfer or direct formatting, for example a pipette. 2. font management I miss a good font management within Affinity Publisher. For example, to replace entire font sets and optionally update already created formats. 3. a professional search & replace function including GREP Thanks!
  3. There's a thread here about searching and replacing text that includes the following suggestion: To find and delete text, select "regular expression" In the text within the Find field, don't use parens. Use "\1" alone in the Replace field. This does work. For example I had ;h2\s+ for the "find" expression and "\1" alone for the replacement. All occurrences of ";h2" followed by 1+ space(s) were deleted. Yes, it works, but it seems like a bit of a hack. So... • Is there another approach to execute a global find-and-delete operation throughout a long collection of text in linked text frames? In nearly all of the word processors and text editors I've used, an empty replacement field means: "delete." Is there some reason it shouldn't also mean "delete" in Publisher? (Not meant as a rhetorical question.) • I found that with the cursor at the start of the text, sometimes pressing the Find button caused the cursor to advance to the first "found location," and sometimes the cursor remained at the start of the text. This appears intermittent and I can't predict when it will happen. I'm assuming it is a bug. If it isn't a bug, what would the reason be for the "variable" behavior?
  4. It would be useful to be able to search for index marks so you can search for particular indexed terms and replace them with an unindexed term (identical or not). Currently, you can't add the indexing mark to a search or a replace entry. Would this be possible? Being able to search for the indexing marks would also make it possible to remove all indexing marks from a document, if you wanted to make major changes and start again. It would also enable you to search for particular entries in the text and add an indexing mark where appropriate. I'm aware you can search for index related character formatting, but this again doesn't make it possible to remove the indexing marks in an automated fashion. Workaround is to search for a particular index term and look for entries which are listed with a downwards pointing arrow before said term, click to locate in text and then manually delete the index mark. Rather laborious in longer documents, and also easy to miss entries or make mistakes in the process.
  5. It's nice that Serif started implementing Regex But you still can't search for formatting attributes in the "Search and Replace" ("Format") panel. Clicking the "Search" button has no effect at all in this context. As I recall, it's never worked before.
  6. I miss the feature of being able to search for text (words or passages) and to search and replace (words or passages) within part or the entire document. Are there any plans to incorporate such a feature in the future?
