  1. Scrolling up and down in some of Affinity Panels is a great feature. It does not appear to work in the Character, Paragraph, etc panels. Am I missing something or is this something you are working on? I get so used to using it where I can that I must back up for a moment when in the non-scrolling panels and realize that I must pull down the side bar.
  2. In Affinity I have always (with great delight) taken advantage of setting things up as follows so that I can quickly navigate. 1) Scroll in a doc with the mouse wheel with no modifier 2) Zoom with the mouse wheel plus the OPTION modifier 3) Pan with the mouse wheel plus the SHIFT modifier With the recent Affinity update my options are gone and my various combos above only zoom. I have used this quick way to navigate so long that it is now sorely missed. The last thing I want to do is to go the Navigator. Using the space bar to access the hand tool and then navigating by this tool is far less efficient for me than the mouse wheel Has there been a change with the recent update? If so, I am making a plea to return to what was. I am now working in Big Sur OS. Perhaps this has made the difference? Thanks PS: The two PNGs below from an earlier forum question are irrelevant to the above, but I cannot delete them.
  3. Hi everyone - still relatively new to Designer so I don't know if this is an existing feature but I've been unable to find anything online so far. I have wrist issues that make extended mouse use difficult, so I use a pen tool and keyboard as much as possible. Been looking for non-mouse keyboard shortcuts for the scroll function (horizontal and vertical), preferably with a way to customize the precision with which you move, so you can move as much or little as needed with each key stroke in each direction. The latter is nice to have right now--just getting the keyboard functionality would be really helpful for my workflow. I've not been able to find any way to customize scrolling in the Preferences menu, and nothing is listed in the shortcuts cheatsheets that I can find online. Am I out of luck on this one? (I use v.1.8 in Windows on Windows 10, in case that makes a difference.)
  4. Hey guys, since I wasn't able to figure out if there's a thread about this, but for me scrolling through pages in Affinity Publisher takes ages – not performance wise but rather the sensitivity of the scrolling seems very off compared to anywhere else in the app. Has anyone else noticed this and gets bothered by it? Especially while working with documents that have a large numbers of pages I tend to broaden the panel so I can see more than a single column of pages, but that's not very convenient because the page in the workspace gets to small. Is there a tweak or workaround for this matter? An option in the burger-menu of the page panel to adjust the scroll speed for that panel would be nice. Or maybe adjust the scroll speed in the panel so it doesn't require two full spins to get to the next page? Cheers and have a great day! MrDoodlezz
  5. I'm using Apple Magic Mouse with "natural scrolling", a.k.a. move content to scrolling direction instead of scroll bars. This probably reverses the intended directionality of input scrolling, but that's all fine by me. I have a question however. If I gesture with the Magic Mouse over an input field, say, character tracking, swiping up decreases, and swiping down increases the value. Great. Now if I want to adjust the value more accurately, I hold shift, right? But now the value only increases when I swipe up OR down, meaning I can't decrease the value with vertical gestures when holding shift! So I figured that with the shift key down I have to swipe left and right instead, that way I can adjust the input accurately to both directions. But if I don't hold shift, swiping horizontally only increases the value. If I try swiping with my trackpad, well, it gets even more confusing, and I don't know how to describe it. Maybe somebody with a trackpad could give it a try? So what's the intended workflow to adjust input fields using 2d gestures with devices like Magic Mouse or trackpad?
  6. Hi, I belive there is an issue with touchpad/touchscreen support. Designer version: 1.8.2.620 (just installed the 90-day trial) Windows 10 I'm using a HP Spectre with touchscreen. Both the screen and touchpad are multitouch. Expected behavior: Pinching on both touchpad and touchscreen should zoom-in/out the document. Moving two fingers on the touchscreen should move the document (just like you drag it with a View Tool). Ideally I would see it working the same way on touchpad. What happens: The pinch gesture works correct on the touchscreen (sometimes it stops working though and needs restart) but on touchpad it ALWAYS works ONLY the first time (really curious to me - first zoom-in or out works perfect, after that no gesture on touchpad works like it didn't work at all. After Designer restart there is again one chance to zoom-in/out with touchpad ) Moving with two fingers on touchscreen works sometimes, sometimes it stops working (like zooming on the screen) and sometimes I get only one chance to do it (like the pinch gesture) and then it stops. I've already installed Designer trial some time ago (I believe it was version 1.6) and it had the same issues (it was working exacly the same - or NOT working actually). BTW, I'm happy to see how the Affinity products develop and get better, and this time I'm about to buy it for sure. But really hope this issues would get fixed in the future. Best regards
  7. When making a selection on the canvas and bringing my mouse down to the bottom, the document would auto scroll downwards allowing me to make additional selections as and when objects were revealed in view. Alternatively I used to be able to make a selection and use my mouse wheel to scroll the document. Both of the above features in the recent Affinity Designer for Windows update have appeared to stopped working V1.8 (just checked and can confirm this has also stopped working in Affinity Photo, however it worked in previous versions for both Photo & Designer)
  8. On Windows, the scrolling is very sluggish and requires more scrolling of the mouse wheel than necessary. Please increase the speed at which all scrollbars move. I would like to see the "Pages" view adopt a scrolling rate of one-spread-per-wheel-click and the main document view to scroll at least 2x faster than it currently goes.
  9. When I have a lot of slices like 20, and while scrolling down the options slices, the whole app freezes and just goes no responding. This problem has been there for a while and it's very annoying. I attached the image and my work file. Card Design.afdesign
  10. A Publisher document that I have been working on for some time now has suddenly decided to crash (close actually) for no apparent reason whilst simply scrolling through the document. This does not happened with any other publication I have created. This morning as I began this report, a new Beta version became available (1.7.0.384) which I uploaded and installed. I opened this document with the new version and just scrolled down the pages, nothing more, and sure enough it crashed also. I have previously opened this publication by itself (nothing else running on my PC) to see if other programs may have been affecting it, but it still crashed. It has done this numerous times. On re-starting the application if there were unsaved edits, the document recovery message appears allowing me to save again to lock in those edits. However the application crashed when I scrolled down a couple of pages. The only thing different about this publication to others that I have created is that this one uses blank picture frames as place-holders for images I have yet to acquire. I'm not sure that this has anything to do with the problem, its just an observation. Other documents continue to work just fine. I am using an Acer Aspire 5471 laptop running Windows 7 version 6.01 (Build 701 Service Pack 1). I have enclosed a copy of the document for review. WASS History Booklet.afpub
  11. I'm zoomed into an object, trying to outline it w/the magnetic lasso and having problems. 1) How do I scroll the page in order to advance my edge selection around the object w/o deselecting what I've done or having the mag. lasso dutifully create a path out to the scroll bars and back? 2) Is there any sensitivity setting for the mag. lasso's edge detection? Not infrequently, it selects the wrong edge no matter how carefully I try to trace the edge. 3) When the lasso does a bad job of finding the correct edge, how does one sequentially delete mistaken anchor points, to back-up one or more anchor points, and give it another chance to find the correct edge? I originally tried to use the Flood Select tool but I just couldn't adjust it to confine itself the area outside the object w/o picking up all sorts of random areas inside the object. Thanks, lettergothic
  12. I'm zoomed in to do a magnetic pixel selection. When I reach the edge of the window, I want to scroll the screen to continue the selection path but whatever I do to scroll the screen causes the selection to drop. The only thing that "seems" to work is the navigator panel. Are there any other ways move around the view of my zoomed object to complete the selection? Wouldn't "pushing" against the edge of the window with cursor/tool would be an intuitive way to do this? Thanks, lettergothic
  13. Hi Issue: When I'm scrolling through the paragraph tab in the right panel, I find that my scrolling ends up changing the values for the settings. So for example, I'll be scrolling through the paragraph tab trying to get to the top and I end up changing the value for "desired spacing" to 5%. Sometimes I don't even realised what I've changed since I'm scrolling automatically expecting it to go up but it isn't and I don't know how much I've changed the value by. This is pretty annoying and I can see it being a problem for others. Solution: We should have to select the section to adjust, then adjusting by scrolling is fine. For example if I want to adjust "desired spacing" I would click on the value container and then scroll rather than having it change by just hovering the cursor over the container. FYI: I'm using the smooth scroll function on my logitech mouse, so the scrolls aren't discrete and it can take a while to realise its still scrolling when it has reached the top
  14. When scrolling up down, the grid scrolls too? See screenshots
  15. So I'm using a school Mac laptop for Affinity Pro, and the screen is small so a few of the tools won't show up on the left hand side, including the one that I need to use right now which is text. All of the other bars on the screen can scroll, the picture, the tools on the right side, but the tools on the left hand side won't scroll. I can't drag it down any further and it's actually starting to piss me off. Any help from someone would be really appreciated, thanks.
  16. Hello, I'm using a Magic Mouse in Affinity Photo on a MacBook Pro and cannot figure out how to get scrolling while hovering over, or clicking into, a value adjacent a slider to work. Two finger scrolling on the trackpad doesn't change the value either, however using a basic Microsoft scroll wheel mouse does! General scrolling elsewhere in the Studio panels and in the document view work as expected, just not in changing values. Am I missing something?
  17. In some applications i use, i can click up and down buttons to go through all of the LUTs in a particular directory while previewing applying each over your image. This would be epic.
  18. Hello, I am a beginner. I am trying to use the freehand selection tool on a zoomed image and when I scroll using command scroll the nodes do not move with the image. I have watched others do this in tutorials effortlessly but I can't figure it out. Thanks! Shawna
  19. Hi, if I'm working with designs that have a lot of layers it's sometimes quite hard to identify the active layer in the layers list as it may not be in view and will thus require scrolling up and down before you can find the highlight. Is there a way to quickly jump to the highlight in the layer list, or (even better) some sort of option that allows the active one to be scrolled into in view? I accept the latter might not work when working with multiple selections, but when creating this would be quite handy because you don't always have to mine the relevant layer out of a long list.. Cheers!
  20. When I move an object with a mouse and hit the boundaries of my viewport, AD starts scrolling the canvas underneath so that I can reach any part of my canvas without having to zoom out. It does not do this with objects moved by keyboard arrows - is there a setting where I can change this?
  21. Greetings all, I'm not sure that this is a bug... but I noticed the scroll slider disappears from the Brush palette window after non-use. If you're using a mouse, not a big deal... scrolling down will invoke the slider. If you're using a Wacom tablet and pen, you are unable to invoke the slider unless you switch back to a mouse and perform an action that triggers the slider. My personal opinion is that the scroll slider element is always on in the Brush palette window or the app detects user input (mouse vs. tablet) and toggles the element accordingly. If I'm missing something, my sincere apologies... I'm havin' a heck of a Monday morning. ;-P Regards, jB
