  1. I haven't been totally idle! Bit different than I normally do.
  2. Used a few references and filled spaces in. Could have done more but didn't want to spend any more time on it so it will do.

  4. Fun little Star Wars themed project. 3D work done in Blender. Photography was done in studio, processed in AP. Composited in AP.
  5. Made with Designer and Photo. I went through the movie frame by frame for references and then came up with something that was a little modern but more anchored in the art deco design of the original movie. I also looked through Willis O'Brien's pre-production images of Kong since i wanted him to have a rougher look.
  6. Hey everyone. This is a piece I finished recently in Affinity Designer. I wanted to create the look and feel of 70s retro scifi illustrations and at the same time I wanted to stay 100% vector. No traces, no bitmaps, no pixel layers. Critique, opinions and questions welcome :D
  7. Exercise with Xenon Ok so I wanted a forest design for my latest eco–vid. Started playing around and came up with a surprising glimpse of creativity. Process: Open Affinity photo. Download a nice forest photo from the internet. Copy, paste and flip horizontal, drag and fix to form a symmetrical composite. I purchased the Xenon brush pack from Affinity store and used them to create effects. I finished with a galactic brush to add the vibrant green mist. This started out as a simple play with brush and finished with an interesting picture. Not complex just try and see. It’s not rocket science, just good old fashioned work and play.
  8. As Inktober 2018 continues I decided to stay a bit longer with Photo. I am pretty happy with the mood and look of those three illustrations
  9. First time posting here! I've been using AD for almost a year, and it's now my go-to for pretty much all of my graphic work. Here's a piece I recently whipped up that's part of a sci-fi series I'm working on. Obviously, it's inspired by old propaganda posters. That, and a heavy dose of Ray Bradbury.
  10. This was a test for a game company one is totally with affinity but the drawings are just sign places from the web. and here you can find also another animated version half with affinity and half with illustrator, more futuristic, minimal. the text is bold and near to the border of the buttons because they have some elements of the sci-fi films of 60s with also the minimal style of the moodboard provided. Hope you like it, and if anyone is interested, I'm actually available for game companies <3
  11. Custom design edit for the Washington DC based band, NAG CHAMPA. This will be for their main homepage when their site drops later this summer. IG - @nagchampadc My Art - IG - @chaos3rdeye Thanks everyone!
  12. "Ray-Gun-Omics Poster" Affinity Photo Digital Illustration Instagram - @chaos3rdeye Website- www.chaosabzu.com Stay tuned for more!
  13. Companion to an earlier piece I did in a similar vein. Just to reacquaint myself with AD after a long hiatus using nothing but Ad*be
  14. Hi all. I've switched over almost completely from Illustrator and other vector graphic programs to Affinity Designer. It's been a much less painful experience that I'd expected, and I've been having a lot of fun with the app's features. Having just finished my first formal concept design for a website's splash page, I thought I'd post it here because...Affinity! Anyway, hope the colours brighten your day!
  15. As part of my scheme to transfer from natural media to digital illustration, I set myself an exercise of making a sci-fi book cover illustration. Not that you see much of this sort of thing these days, but I was a big fan of Chris Foss in the 70s when his work was gracing the covers of many books. One thing I missed during the process of making this image is a way to warp and tilt objects. Perhaps I'm just missing something. Anyway, I think I'd be confident to present vector artwork files to my illustration clients at this stage. I tried to go digital in the early naughties with a program called Painter but it was a disaster for me -I was trying to use the program like natural media and the quality plummeted! I've also attached the initial scamp which was also done in AD in the Pixel Persona using my Wacom Bamboo tablet.
  16. I had a go at working up the Mekon's head from memory. Essentially a green, severe man with a giant cerebrum. He was an evil genius alien from the 1950s Dan Dare magazines for those Millennials out there. I think his head was even more out of proportion than I have it. I also stuck in a texture scanned from the endpapers of a Victorian book, for good measure. Anyway, it's good practice...
  17. This is my riff on the Photoshop tutorial How to Create a Retro Sci-Fi Computer Game Poster from the Spoon Graphics blog. With some modifications I was able to complete this entirely with Affinity Designer.
  18. Another experiment in lo-fi effects. AD more than holding its own at this point, despite me probably pushing my luck with file complexity :D
  19. Just a bit of fun/practice I've been doing between other projects.
  20. After many dark days I am waiting for spring. Started this with a ballpen drawing (attached) and finished it in Affinity. Many layer fx and gradients used. I really like the possibility to insert different markers in the gradient panel - very helpful. The idea was she is waking up from a deep sleep, the bird with her. Winter hasn't left yet but the little color-glows are already pointing towards spring. Used a mix of muted colors and fresher accents.
