  1. I would like to scale an object by percent, rather than have to do the math to change the x and/or y.
  2. I've tried the "Scale with Object" option, but it can work only grouped elements. Can It work with Artboard? Please help.
  3. I know this has been asked at least a couple of times, but I am still needing to copy, edit in illustrator, then paste in order to perform transforms (rotate, scale, move) on selected nodes. Can we please get either an indicator of whether this is going to be addressed soon or any workarounds/workflows that can make this less painful? The more I dive into original works in Designer the more I don't understand how artists cope without this capability? Many thanks in advance - John
  4. I'm sure there is a simple answer, but can't find it anywhere: how can I make font size of text inside a group scale proportionally with the group?
  5. I've been asked to scale and export a vector icon set from 32px (slices) to 500px. I'm wondering if there is an easy way to do this in the export persona (or some other way). I've been searching but haven't found an easy solution. Any ideas?
  6. Hi, I'm trying to resize and scale the contents of an artboard that I duplicated. I've searched the forum but am only finding posts from people trying to do the opposite (expand the artboard without scaling its contents). In this post: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15756-resizing-artboard-also-resized-layers-inside-of-it/?p=71554 MEB seems to suggest that using the Move Tool to resize an artboard will indeed scale its layers accordingly, while using the Artboard Tool resizes the artboard without scaling its contents. I've tried resizing the artboard with both tools but they both do the same thing (resize the artboard without scaling its contents). I've also tried using the transform panel but that also does the same thing. I've also tried using the Document Setup panel which does have options for changing size and scaling the contents or anchoring them to the page, but these options are greyed out and unselectable. How can I resize an artboard and scale its contents in one go? Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Is there a way to apply the "scale with object" globally, like a preference after the fact? I have a bunch of objects that I should have had the "scale with object" turned on for as I created them. Just wondering if there is a way to apply it now or do I have to individually select each and every object and apply it manually? Thanks.
  8. Story to illustrate what this feature is useful for: I designed a UI image (in designer) at the size of the retina iPad screen. Later I realised that I should have made the document the size of the old iPad screen and used the @2x export in the slices tool to get the retina resolution. So I edited the document properties and scaled the document down to half its original size. It worked well except that the rounded corners on all my buttons and boxes maintained the original radius from the larger image, giving the appearance that the radii of all those corners had doubled, relative to the new size of the design. Feature request: When resizing a shape in the main UI, it is usually desirable that the corners maintain their radius regardless of the scale of the shape. However, when resizing the entire document, it would be better to scale the corner radii proportionally to the change in document scale so that the appearance of the document remains the same after rescaling.
  9. Hi, I really can’t believe that such a great app does not have a scaling tool that could scale objects f. e. by a factor 10. It is possible to do this with a *10. But not the real internal sizes are resized, but the inaccurate numbers in the transform box. :( A scaling tool is not on the feature roadmap?! Will it be changed?
  10. Would you be able to make an object rotate around another object by changing its anchor point?
  11. Posted this in the beta section but it probably belongs here... --------------- Hey team, I've been working a lot more lately in Designer for client work and I'm wondering if any progress is being made as far as node manipulation? Specifically scaling or rotating a group of selected nodes. This is a pretty critical operation I find I'm constantly coming up against. Right now I can move selected nodes, but I can't rotate or scale them because rotate and scale don't have a keystroke assigned workflow. Going hand in hand with this is some way to define a point of rotation or scaling. There was some earlier discussion on maybe developing such a workflow, any news on this? Thanks and great job on the last few rounds of betas! The app is feeling really comfortable :)
  12. I'm brand new to Mac and to Affinity Design. I was a CorelDraw user since ver 1.0, and was very familiar with it. When my Windows laptop imploded last week, the entire family (literally) persuaded me to make the big switch. I'm now the proud owner of a 15", SSD, Retina Display, Intel Quad Core I7, MacBook Pro. It's just like my son's and he's very happy with it. Mac means "NO CorelDraw". I downloaded the trial copy of AD tonight and have been getting familiar through the videos and trial and error. I can't seem to make the page size that I input stick. It keeps resizing the pages smaller. I need vector software to design models for laser cutting and 3D printing. Therefore I need to scale drawing and output precise objects. I was able to work in any scale in CD, and see most of the same functionality in AD, but I'm unable to adjust the unit size in the rulers. When I input in the document set up for a custom page of 12" X 12" inches, it takes it, but as soon as I manipulate the drawing, the page size changes to something smaller and the imported bitmap that I'm tracing falls off the end of the page. What am I doing wrong?
  13. Hi, I want to scale my artwork and I want the "pressure strokes" to scale too. When I down scale my artwork the strokes become thicker – they are not affected. What must I do to get the styles down sized? Thanks in advance! OP
  14. For those of us who might use designer for technical illustration, various scaling options would be useful: 1. Set document scale — so that inches or points can be converted different dimensions. One can imagine a carpentry project where 1 inch = 2 ft for example. In my case here would be the most convenient workflow: open a raster image of a map with a scale bar, drag the mouse along the scale bar (or any feature of known length) and then type in the distance represented on the map (e.g., 100 m, 10 km, etc.). The scale would be set automatically. [as an aside, length and area calculations, in the scale/using the units specified would be nice] 2. Scale object — I mentioned this briefly in a post on a different topic but thought it would be more useful in a dedicated post on scaling. One should be able to specify the change in size (or shape) of an object in a dialog box where you specify the horizontal and vertical scaling factors (either proportional or non-proportional) by either percent or by entering a ratio. 3. Set document origin — this is less important to me, but still useful. The ability to place the (0,0) at any point within the document. Also the ability to specify geographic/engineering coordinates (positive to the right and positive up) or the usual screen coordinates (positive to the right and positive down). One can likewise imagine two different types of rotation: counterclockwise positive from the right (engineering convention) or clockwise from the top (compass convention)
  15. I would like to see something similar to 'transform each' in Illustrator where multiple selected elements can be scaled about their centers (or centres) an equal amount. This is useful for scientific illustratrions where multiple symbols need rescaling. Thank you for providing a really useful tool and I look forward to seeing updates!
  16. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, I couldn't find it... ... has there been any progress on the ability to scale or rotate 2 or more nodes. I only see the object having the ability to be scaled or rotated. I'm currently working on something (see attached) where I'd like to rotate a bunch of selected nodes on a letterform... and after searching in the app I can't see how to go about doing this. I'm hoping I've just overlooked it and it's there somewhere.
  17. Not sure if this has been asked yet but is there a way to rotate or scale an object from a user defined origin instead of the default centre of the object?
