  1. Hi, How do I save my work in affinity Publisher demo. I already bought the software but haven't installed yet (via Mac App Store). Yesterday the Programm closed itself and everything was gone. I had to redo everything. I got to hand it in today. Please help me out. Greetings!
  2. When saving a file, Affinity Photo is creating a separate file each time I press cmd S, almost like saving as. I noticed this when I navigated to the folder I had saved my file to and found lots of copies of the file. I am saving to iCloud Drive. As I'm a newbie I thought this might be a versioning feature but I have since found that it shouldn't be happening. Tom
  3. I've been using the Affinity suite for over a year now and never encountered an issue. However a few days ago I went to save a piece of work and it just ...wouldn't? No error appears and it doesn't crash. It just doesn't save the document. I've tried multiple pieces and even black canvases. When you click "save as" or control S then the little loading wheel comes up for a second then disappears and lets you continue but without saving. I'm not using a template and I'm not trying to save complicated documents for this. Does anyone know what's happening?
  4. Hello ! @Patrick Connor, @AdamW, @MEB and other team member, i just hope you are really taking it and resting and enjoying staying with your friends, family etc... and not touching your laptops for this week-end. i'm dropping something here for Affinity Publisher (and also the whole product line) but not expecting you to answer or contribute during the week-end, you deserve good rest. Well, this is a proposition i've been continually forgetting to log here. Using Publisher (but also Designer and Photo) in our workflow (for those who integrated it already before stable version) we often and even make massive use of stroke and tweaking it is part of our every day thing; i see there is possibility to set a stroke profile after playing with the curve thing to make its aspect fit our need; after doing that curve thing we can save the profile ... but i noticed this, the saved stroke curving profile disappears after saving closing the project (case 1) and we have to remember how it looked like and redo it my request is this, would it be possible to save stroke curve profile as application wide usable thing, like we continually do with colors/gradient palette so we can simply reuse it with old projects or when starting a fresh project ? i often watch the brothers from Design Art Studio, Olivio Sarikas and even @Bri-Toon tutorial on youtube and for each new projects they have to redo the line stroke profile tweaking over and over for that project, which you must admit is really time consuming. i would rather, setup a stroke curve profile, save it and know it's application wide (like color some palette) and not document based only and then simply select it in the stroke tab before i draw a new line, then draw my line using pen/pencil tool with that selected profile and see if it fits my desire, this will be helpful for those still using mouse technology and even for those using pen/graphic tablets lacking pressure sensitivity functionality to feel home but also to feel and work with less stress or see their head overheated trying to think or remember how this used to work or to be but just focus on their design and produce great things. Please make the curved stroke profile saving applicable application wide in Publisher and if it has the success it should have, then replicate/expand it to Designer and Photo. @firstdefence, @Petar Petrenko, and all others ... your inputs to round the corners of this idea/proposition is expected and will be of great help ! Blessings !
  5. Dear Affinity people, I've encountred a strange behaviour when saving files. I've always thought that the program will offer as a saving location the folder the original file was placed in. But when I open a picture in Affinity Photo, for example, make some adjustments and try to save it or export - it will show totally different location, without much sense. If I save it in some random location, the next time I open another file from a different folder, it will not even offer the last used location for saving - this would still be strange and make some sense but even this doesn't happen. So how exactly does the saving work? Why it doesn't offer the original location first? Thanks. David
  6. This may not be a bug, per se, but it seems very odd to have seen the warning message (attached). AFPUB 1.8.3; Mac OS X 10.15.3 I was editing and saving a document as I went. I had also saved sequential versions as I edited (to see if any problems arose). I keyed Command + S to "save" the file, did some more edits and keyed Command + S again and got this warning message. I should not have gotten that type of message as there is no other instance of AFPUB or any other process (including Design and Photo) that would access the document in question. That is to say there could be no reason (except bugs IMHO) that the message should have popped up. I did perform a "save as" as the message suggested.
  7. It would be very useful to be able to save also the different sources used in the Focus Merge function, to be able to make the often necessary corrections (halos, alignment errors, ..) in multiple work sessions because it may not be possible to complete the work at the same time.
  8. Im loving Affinity, great job. I am however trying to integrate it into a larger workflow using Cinema4D and Unity3D. Its great that I can open up a .psd into affinity but I want to be able to save as a .psd each time without having to export and save a separate file. I deal with hundreds of files like this and it is very slow and much more complicated to export separate .psd's. Unfortunately there is no support for Affinity in 3D apps and doesn't look there will (or ever will be). This could be solved if files could simple be saved .psd. Is there any way of saving .psd without export? Thank You!
  9. I opened via Media Browser a photo I have on Mac Photos App. Once I edited the photo in Affinity, is there a way to save the edited photo back to Mac Photos App
  10. Does anyone know what's the default setting for saving (not exporting) JPEG? After editing JPEG files with layers flattened, we could "save" the file directly. However, I don't know the quality and other settings when saving JPEG. I know I could export JPEG file with the settings I want, but to speed up the workflow, it'd be great if I could know and adjust the settings of default JPEG saving. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know. Thank you very much for your help. Best regards, Sleepy
  11. Quick Background: I have Affinity Photo for both iPad and Mac and use is since 2017 (on and off as hobby). My main use is on the iPad and since 2019 i've started making big files (10.000px vs 7.000px) and many layers, some files are 1GB. I've had many crashing issues in the last 4 months (with older Affinifity Photo versions, then i got tired and stopped using it) where i lost my lastest editing since it wasn't automatically saving the file on the iCloud Drive (had set it to 'Save on iCloud' and even sometimes i clicked 'save' it didn't save the file on iCloud, because after crashing i saw i lost 30min, 1h work. I've resolved it idiotically by doing 'Save a Copy' into iCloud by every major editing i did (and this with 500, 700MB files isn't ideal). So I've just deleted Affinity Photo from my Mac and iPad, also manually deleted the 'Affinity Photo' from both iCloud Drive & iPad Drive folders and also deleted the Backup Folder. Now i'm ready to start afresh and would love to hear how you deal with files and folders... specially people dealing with big files on the iPad: Where do you save your files: iPad or iCloud Drive directly? Do you use the 'Affinity Photo' folder or some external iCloud/iPad Folder? If I open a file from iCloud, anytime i click Save, will it save it over this file? or into the 'Affinity Photo' folder in the iPad or iCloud? i know it creates these folders once i've installed Affinity. How many projects/files do you have on your iPad? Once you finish an artwork, do you save it on iCloud/iPad/USB and then 'close' the file to cleanup Affinity? I've had 30+ projects open, so not sure if this was also helping to crash Affinity. thanks
  12. I've got not that big of a file (16 megapixels, 8-bit and a couple of raster layers) that after saving shockingly took 700 mb of my disk space. I copied all of it's contents in a fresh document with the same dimensions, saved it again and BAM! - 100mb. What causes this colossal difference in file size when the content is 100% the same? I've noticed this is a persistent problem with Affinity Photo. When I finish with a project, I always have to transfer all the contents in a new document before saving otherwise I'd have clogged up my disk by now. Any way to avoid this or is this a bug?
  13. Hi everybody, I just purchased Photo and like it so far! So as I'm totally new, and the search didn't return any results: is there a way to save all the adjustments I made to a RAW image before developing it? Similar to the .XMP sidecars Adobe creates? I don't want to create presets for every single change I made - I just want to save all the adjustments and changes including overlays, blemish removals, etc. to a file so that I can go back into the RAW file and re-adjust the work I've done without having to do it all over again. Thanks!
  14. When I try to close an image hitting Ctrl+W and "close document" pops up, keyboard does NOT work - I have to point my selections with mice. Very annoying, please fix it, thanks.
  15. I bought Affinity, but I have a suggestion: Make it available on Persona Reveal Reveal (Develop) the possibility of saving the adjustments we made to the photos, as in Photoshop's CameraRaw (save file XMP). So, every time I open the same photo, I can review or modify the settings instead of having to start the adjustments from scratch as it is today. Here is the suggestion! Hugs,
  16. Dear Affinity Support, I've recently acquired Affinity Publisher on the Apple App Store and I am running OSX Catalina, yesterday on a deadline for applying for a job, my portfolio work was lost, since the Affinity Publisher crashed on save. Once reopened I got the recovered file but still wasn't able to save or save as. On the Force Quit window the OS Finder displayed the same app icon as Affinity as illustrated in the attached image. Therefore I restarted my computer, deleted Affinity Publisher and reinstalled. After trying to save any version of the document, even previous backups of smaller files it still wasn't able to save. Therefore I am requesting your support ASAP as my deadline ends today. Best Regards, AP
  17. I am having consistent problems with affinity designer crashing. it crashes when i load and save files. I have attached a screenshot of the error messages. I am saving and loading from internal hard drive. My files have a combination of jpeg and vectors. Please help me understand how to fix this problem. THANKS!
  18. With last version happens more and more an error when exporting or save a file on vichi I work and have save or export few minute ago. See attached file. OSx version 10.14.6 Affinity Photo error on save file.zip
  19. i have been working on this doc at work for a while now. its due. I cannot save the project. Save or save as does not work and i get this error. I need a fix asap. I tried opening another save since i always create copies and publisher closed and i lost the work i did. I left adobe because of this exact reason. Opened up document again, was able to save 2 times then the same error happened. I opened up a old save, copied ALL the pages over and still get the error. this is becoming devastating.
  20. I need clarification on how Affinity Photo saves images. My normal workflow is to import RAW images directly into the Photos App on OS for organization. From there I would like to edit images within Affinity. I understand there are 2 ways to accomplish this and there lies the confusion. I select edit in Photos App then select ‘edit in Affinity’ dialogue. The image is opened in Affinity after instructions that says close image when done and select save changes in Photos App. The edited image now replaces the original in Photos App. Is the image saved in the Photos Library? If I decide to export the image I have options for file types and location, but if I just select save or save as, where does the image get saved? When I select reveal in finder, says library>group containers>(some random folder)>intermediates. Is someone could walk me through the ins and outs of saving vs save as vs export that would be helpful. Or is there a video that explains all this. Thank you very much.
  21. I was working on a document in affinity designer (on mac) and I was trying to edit a photo so I clicked on edit in affinity photo, this wasn't what I wanted and for some reason I thought it has duplicated the file and opened it in affinity photo so I closed the affinity window and clicked don't save. when I went back to designer I was horrified to see that the document was gone. Is there any way of recovering this file either through affinity or caches or temps, anything??
  22. Sorry if this has already been brought up. When I open a file type eg TGA/TIFF if I then modify that file and hit Ctrl S to save it - affinity tries to save it as an afphoto file, it should surely save it as the original file type over the original file.
  23. Saving my document either takes 10 seconds or 10 minutes. When it takes 10 minutes, my laptop gets extremely slow and laggy and I can barely do anything or type. In the same document, a save might take 10 seconds. Othertimes in the same document, a save might take 10 minutes or longer. On the long saves, the progress bar is empty until it starts moving and then its the normal 10 seconds (or so). Using 1.7.2. This never happened in 1.7.1 (it crashed saving sometimes and just disappeared, but when saving worked it was always 10-30 seconds, etc.)
  24. My Publisher document crashes on save, upon opening the file up it says one of the resources have been altered outside affinity, but it hasn't and the file is embedded (it's an eps file). Anyway when making a change and saving it just crashes. looks like the file is corrupted. the thumbnail on my macbook pro's Finder window shows the affinity publisher logo instead of a preview thumbnail of the file like other working publisher files. What should I do. Many thanks,
  25. In Photos, when I click open with Affinity and then edit photo, it doesn't save the photo with edits back to Photos. How do I return my edited photo back to Photos?
