  1. It would be nice if we can have artboards in Photo, and please add a rotation tool or a menu to rotate the view/canvas/artboard freely, not just per 15 degrees or 90 degrees
  2. So I've recently encountered a problem where I'm unable to rotate brushes a full 360 degrees This is making it impossible to rotate my brushes fully around since they rotate only 180 degrees Is this a bug or am i missing something ?
  3. Is it possible to move a object toward rotated angle with Transform panel? (Without reverting back rotation once)
  4. Would be nice if I could move a object toward rotated angle by numeric input on Transform panel. E.g. activating the option when Alignment Handle is enabled.
  5. I would like you to check see if rotation reset by double clicking the rotation handle with a touch pen works. Someone reporting it's not working. According to him, the PC is: Sony Vaio Z Canvas / Windows 8 and the pen is bundled one.
  6. I have Affinity Designer 1.8.3 (latest stable), and I experienced this bug since 1.8 When Artboard is selected and I want to rotate it with "Move tool", it doesn't show the "rotation marker", by which I can rotate it. It appears only when I start moving Artboard with Move tool. Little bug but annoying sometimes, especially when you have lots of content inside artboard! My specs (ask me if you need more): Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4 (latest) MacBook Air 2017 Affinity Designer 1.8.3 (bug comes from 1.8v) Screen_Recording_2020-04-20_at_15_03_20.mov
  7. I have been using this program for about 2 years both professionally and as a hobby. I am fully aware that this has been brought up on the forum before but this needs to be added. When we rotate an image we should be allowed to set it automatically crop the transparent parts of the image. This is a very large annoyance because the first thing most people do is crop. Because isolating your subject is important. I realized this when I used light room briefly and went wow I forgot how nice it was not to have to fiddle with cropping my self. If my phone can do it you guys can do it
  8. Hi, I'm not sure how this happened, whether it was a keyboard shortcut I inadvertently hit in Photo, or something else. The brushes I use the most no longer rotate as I draw along (for example) a silhouette; they just stay in one position. The brush tip has also become a ring instead of the shape of the brush, which I don't like at all. I have tried to figure it out on my own, but so far I haven't been successful in fixing either of these problems. I'm hoping someone knows how to fix this as I can no longer do my work. As a last resort, I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling, but I'm hoping to avoid that if I can. Thanks.
  9. It's easier to operate on small values, also there will be no need to do math (yay) So let say I want to rotate object clockwise by 67 degrees. That's easy - just enter 67. But when rotating counterclockwise things starts to look more complicated. I must calculate 360-67 to know it's 297... damn 293. See? What about just entering -67, and moving on? (maybe I mixed directions, but general idea still holds up)
  10. Can I request a rotation option for the fill windows gradient tab. at the moment you can only apply a right to left or visa-versa gradient from there, to rotate the gradient you then have to go to the fill tool, not intuitive at all.
  11. I have an urgent need to create a ring, where along the ring there are 'tick marks' like degrees on a compass, however, due to the nature of the project, I need to be very specific about where these 'ticks' lie around the circle, such that some need to be at a decimal precision of about 8 places. As far as I can tell, Designer only supports rotation precision to 1 decimal place. Is there an option or away to increase this to at the very least 4?
  12. I'm making a clock face. I set the guides to the dead centre, and I draw a 'tick' mark centrally using the guides. It's placed evenly over the vertical guide at 12 o'clock or 0/360 degrees around the clock face, then set the rotation anchor to the dead centre of the page using the guides. I duplicate that layer, and translate it using keyboard entry to exactly 5 or 10 degrees (depending on the tick mark I need). I press CMD+J to duplicate layer and transformation and populate the outside of the clock face. NOTICE: The rotation text field only allows single decimal places; this is functionally unusable, because in many cases we need multiple decimal place precision, and in fact if you manually rotate a layer you see displayed 2 decimal places, yet you can't manually set that in the text field. At least 4 is required, preferably 8 decimal places. Continuing with the bug description: I do the same for the 5 degree marks until the clock face is populated with marks at 5 degree and 10 degree points all around. To verify the correctness of these 'tick marks' I draw a long (extending past outer edge of clock face) 2 pixel wide line from the centre and rotate it so an random 'degree' that is a multiple of 5. e.g. 135. Then I see how it lays along the computed 'tick' marks. BUG: NOTICE that the tick mark at 135 isn't placed correctly, in fact none are except 0 degrees, 90, 180 and 270. All others are off by small amounts from those cardinal points up to the greatest amount of imperfection at the points directly between the cardinal points. If you MANUALLY drag the pink line you'll see that you still can't set it perfectly (due to poor 2 decimal place precision) but the black 135 tick mark is somewhere between 134 and 135, This level of precision isn't enough for my work. Suggestion: Please fix immediately the rounding / precision bug when doing rotations, and increase the decimal place precision on dragging AND by text entry to at least 4 decimal places, but preferably up to 8 decimal places. Current implementation is too inaccurate to use. Designer_Errors in rotating paths (lack of precision).afdesign
  13. Suggestion for a very small, but very useful feature/shortcut option for 1.7. I, as well as a vast majority of illustrators, designers and photo editors I know and work with, constantly rotate the canvas while working. This is not a 90 degree rotation, but rather just a standard rotation while working (exactly like the View - Rotate Left/Right/Reset options). Assigning this to custom shortcut keys helps speed things up (I currently have Rotate Left and Right assigned to Q and W in Designer), but it's still slow in comparison to Photoshop's dedicated rotation tool. With Affinity I'm left pressing my custom defined rotation shortcuts multiple times to get the perfect angle for the work I'm doing. With that in mind, I don't think it's necessary to add a dedicated rotation tool like Adobe PS has, but rather just a key combination shortcut. When you hold Ctrl+Alt and click and drag in Affinity this changes your brush size and hardness, which is incredibly quick, efficient, and useful. Could there not be a similar option (say Alt+Cmd+click and drag, or Ctrl+Cmd+click and drag) to rotate the canvas working angle? Either that, or a pop-up menu (similar to Sketchbook Pro) where when you move the canvas using the move tool (Spacebar) you also have the option to rotate the canvas. I've also seen this used in software like Krita, where holding modifier keys + dragging allows you to rotate the canvas. It's a non invasive way of still giving the option to those who use it, but keeping it out of the way for those who don't. You could possible also include the option to enable/disable the pop-up menu in the Preferences for those who don't like to use it or find it distracting. I think this would be an incredibly invaluable feature, particularly for artists/illustrators who rotate the canvas to draw using a tablet, but also useful for designers and photo editing.
  14. Hi all I quite happy with how I go about setting the pivot point on a shape in Affinity Designer. However, when I export the design to SVG, I want the pivot points to be saved as part of the shape as well. My aim is to rotate items using Javascript in the browser and I need that point, to pivot around (imagine a rectangle for a clock hand or something similar). Is this something I can do in Affinity Designer as part of exporting the shapes? Thanks
  15. Hi all, I noticed that the brush rotation is limited to 50% in the slider, but you can write up to 100% in the input field, I think the slider should allowed to drag it until 100% as well. Is this intended? Cheers, Juan
  16. Windows 10 Home 1809, Designer 1.7.0.209 You can watch the attached GIF for a demonstration, where a document containing four rectangles - the same rectangle rotated by three angles - and four images - each rotated by the same three angles - is itself rotated by three angles. (The angles of rotation are snapped at 15 degrees). At the start, before document rotation, all of the rectangles and images look fine. After the first rotation the rectangles are very jaggy and the images have become very pixelated. After the third rotation, even though the first rectangle has been rotated to essentially the same orientation as the fourth (before rotation), it still have a very noisy outline while the fourth rectangle looks fine. Zooming in/out doesn't seem to make much difference.
  17. Hi - I am new to Affinity photo. I tried rotating an image of a window in crop mode. As you can see from the screen capture - it makes the bars all choppy. The original is a good sized file and does not look choppy. When I export - it looks OK. Is there any way to fix this? It makes it hard to edit a photo like this. I'm running on Windows 10. I don't have this issue with other applications. Thanks
  18. I don't even know the right way to talk about this, so it's likely this is possible and I just can't find it. When I open a doc in AfPub, in the lower right corner there's a minitab labeled "Transform" -- this is distinct from the Layer -> Transform menu item; here I can just set the item's control point, X and Y Location (x and y), Width, Height, Rotation, and Skew for the selected item(s). Is there a keyboard shortcut (or way to make one) to alter these or put the focus in one of these boxes? Related, and again I don't know what to call it, but if the current selection is, say, a polygon, there's a bar of configuration options running just above the document. It has, e.g., the name of the shape, the fill, stroke, number of sides, etc. What is that called, and how do I get focus there without using the mouse? Thanks!
  19. Ehy guys, yesterday I needed and probably will need in the future the ability to rotate RAW images in develop persona since Windows itself isn't able to do it. Rotating via the crop tool context toolbar is very difficult so it'd be nice to have the facility I've written above.
  20. Hi all, not sure whether I've found a bug or its just me not seeing a simple mistake. duplication issue.afdesign Here's what I do... I create a document 2000px x 2000px I use Guide Manager to place guides at 50% horizontally and vertically. I create a path with a stroke of .25px Align: centre. Stroke size doesn't really matter, as it does not affect the outcome. The path can be placed either vertically, horizontally or restricted to 45º The 45º angle was to get a path length that would not fall short in the document but it doesn't matter really these are just the placements I have tried as starting points. Checked paths rotational node placement was 1000, 1000px I moved the paths rotation centre to the centre of the document (1000,1000px) Initially I wanted to rotate by 5º but noticed as I duplicated the paths the duplicated paths were out of alignment at 90º, 180º and 270º To test I created the path again and duplicated by the restricted 15º by holding shift down as I rotated, this aligned to the 90º, 180º and 270º correctly. So, I tried rotation by 5º again and this confirmed the misalignment. If you continue the duplication the offset is equal and you will end up with consistent bands. Continued duplication by the restricted 15º always keeps alignment I made two groups one coloured black and one coloured pink, the starting path's are both accurately aligned at the vertical point, once you start rotating thats when it all goes wrong. So it really shouldn't be misaligned if 15º can align why can't 5º Pink is the 5º duplication
  21. Hello, Wouldn't it be easier if we could rotate an object using trackpad gesture?. Current implemented feature is rotating view using trackpad gesture. So, to rotate object it could be like; click the object we wanted to rotate, then hold shift and do the rotation gesture accordingly. In addition, you could do the same with object resizing with zoom gesture. Background issue: sometime it's little "annoying" pointing the cursor to the right spot to get rotation control on. To sum up, we all know that Mac's magic trackpad is one thing that make it standout from other hardware interfaces available on the market. And every Mac's user loves it. So why we wouldn't take it to its true potential? Thanks, Regards
  22. I am used to take daily pictures of the Sun, which appear as a filled circle on a black background. Such pictures have to be derotated by a certain angle to get the solar North exactly upwards and the South downwards in the x and y reference system of the image. Anyway, being an AP-iPad newbie, I have been not very successful with the relevant workflows I have tried. In fact, I have used the canvas rotation feature, which worked fine, but this resulted in an image which was obviously not squared in x and y. Hence, I have been unable to fill the missing parts to get a squared image that can be saved. Then, I have tried to work with a selection containing only the solar disk, but I got lost when trying to save a final image. Therefore, I would be grateful to get some hints about the most effective way to apply the rotation and to save the result. Thank you in advance!
  23. In this tutorial (German) I would like to explain how you can project symbols on a transformed parent object to create your own packaging designs. I've used English labels in the layer panel and hope you could follow my instructions. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  24. Hi! Please Add Decimal Places for Rotation, Shear and dpi resolution (number shown in top-left when Move tool is selected) It can be useful and in many cases and make program more precise;)
