  1. The Transform panel does not show Height, it shows Length in all Affinity apps. A can of pop standing up is approx 4¾" high x 2 5/8" wide (120 cm H x 65 cm W). Lying down, it is approx 2 5/8" high by 4¾" wide. However, in all three Affinity applications, a pop can lying down shows as 4¾" HIGH x 2 5/8" wide. On other words, the Transform panel reports LENGTH (not height) regardless of orientation. Please see sample illustrations.
  2. Hello, does anyone know if the devs are planning on adding more options for the canvas rotation feature? In Krita you can freely rotate the canvas holding Shift+Space and Right MB (and it feels soooo goood), the new rotation feature is really cool but I think implementing it so both mouse users and pen/stylus users can use it would be better.
  3. Wow - so cool that you can even rotate pages / workspace now - don't know, when I should use it yet - but I found out by accident and no way to easily rotate back to 0°. I'd think that Ctrl+0 will reset my view but this doesn't work. Also no options within my document settings or the navigator. That's where I did look up to reset - I think the navigator should be the place to find it - and Ctrl+0 should reset the view as expected - also rotation. #
  4. Hi, I use the magic trackpad a lot and sometimes i rotate the page unintentionally...it´s a little annoying... and when i try to revert that i can´t make it right.... Is there a way to stop this to happen?
  5. Is there any way to enable canvas rotation with hand gestures on the touch screen? For instance, in Photoshop, you can place two fingers on the screen and rotate them, and the canvas will rotate in that direction. I can't seem to find any setting to enable it and its very frustrating not being able to shift my canvas around freely when I'm drawing. I end up just turning my whole tablet around, which is very inconvenient.
  6. Working with Affibity Publisher, I wanted to rotate an inserted image. I changed to the Photo persona, and clicked something to rotate, but the entire document became as shown in my screenshot. I could not undo this with Ctrl - Z or any menu command I could find. What is the solution?
  7. I want to rotate a photo in Affinity Photo or in Affinity Deisgner but I seemingly can't rotate a mathematical amount. I can use the Straighten tool, but that is not what I what, I want to be able to say, "hey, this image can rotate clockwise by 5degrees" . I can see the rotate links for 90degree rotations but that's obviously not the same. The straighten tool is very imprecise as it relies on eye rather than any mathematical int or float value (such as 5.75 degrees) Have I missed something obvious? :-/ Cheers Martin
  8. When rotating the canvas (View - Rotate Left/Right) the artwork previews/appears pixelated and distorted on the artboard - almost like the strokes and objects get fuzzy outlines. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but its been present since the day I started using Designer and Photo - even vector shapes get jagged edge previews when the canvas is rotated. I've attached a preview to show what I mean (you may need to zoom in to have a better look), but I'm sure anyone who has used the canvas rotation feature is aware of this. Is there a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. So you've just rotated your image and now have four nice transparent triangles in the corners. So what do you do? Here's a way of handling it: Select/Alpha Range/Select Fully Transparent Select/Grow/Shrink... (Radius 1px) Edit/Inpaint This should select the corners and give AP the opportunity to apply its Inpainting algorithm. At best it's a perfect fix. At worst, it's a start and you can clone bits that are not inpainted so well. You do need to do the Grow, by the way, as without it you can get missed pixels and an inpaint that is not fully opaque (I think these are bugs and have reporte
  10. When using Affinity Photo (or Designer) for illustration or digital painting, there are two features that I use super often - the brush moodier shortcut (ctrl+alt+drag left/right) and canvas rotation. The issue is that the direction of the shortcut changes to the rotation angle of the canvas, meaning I keep accidentally changing the hardness of the brush instead of thew size while working. It would be great to have this shortcut act independently and irrespective of the angle of the canvas, so that dragging left or right still affects the size of the brush, regardless of how much my canva
  11. It would be nice if we can have artboards in Photo, and please add a rotation tool or a menu to rotate the view/canvas/artboard freely, not just per 15 degrees or 90 degrees
  12. So I've recently encountered a problem where I'm unable to rotate brushes a full 360 degrees This is making it impossible to rotate my brushes fully around since they rotate only 180 degrees Is this a bug or am i missing something ?
  13. Is it possible to move a object toward rotated angle with Transform panel? (Without reverting back rotation once)
  14. Would be nice if I could move a object toward rotated angle by numeric input on Transform panel. E.g. activating the option when Alignment Handle is enabled.
  15. I would like you to check see if rotation reset by double clicking the rotation handle with a touch pen works. Someone reporting it's not working. According to him, the PC is: Sony Vaio Z Canvas / Windows 8 and the pen is bundled one.
  16. I have Affinity Designer 1.8.3 (latest stable), and I experienced this bug since 1.8 When Artboard is selected and I want to rotate it with "Move tool", it doesn't show the "rotation marker", by which I can rotate it. It appears only when I start moving Artboard with Move tool. Little bug but annoying sometimes, especially when you have lots of content inside artboard! My specs (ask me if you need more): Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4 (latest) MacBook Air 2017 Affinity Designer 1.8.3 (bug comes from 1.8v) Screen_Recording_2020-04-20_at_15_03_20.mov
  17. Hello, how can I forget / reset the rotation of an object? Once the object is rotated it remembers it's original 0° rotation, which is mostly useful. E.g. if i rotate a shape in Publisher > convert to Picture Frame > Place an Image … the placed image is also rotated. Is there any way to rotate an object and afterwards reset it's rotation to 0°. Thank you in advance!
  18. Hi, I know how to resize brushes and change hardness/opacity using keyboard shortcuts but is there a way to alter the rotation of the brush by either holding down a modifier or step by step using keys? The clone tool is crying out for this ability - I can't believe its not there… Please tell me it is Regards, M
  19. I have been using this program for about 2 years both professionally and as a hobby. I am fully aware that this has been brought up on the forum before but this needs to be added. When we rotate an image we should be allowed to set it automatically crop the transparent parts of the image. This is a very large annoyance because the first thing most people do is crop. Because isolating your subject is important. I realized this when I used light room briefly and went wow I forgot how nice it was not to have to fiddle with cropping my self. If my phone can do it you guys can do it
  20. Hi, I'm not sure how this happened, whether it was a keyboard shortcut I inadvertently hit in Photo, or something else. The brushes I use the most no longer rotate as I draw along (for example) a silhouette; they just stay in one position. The brush tip has also become a ring instead of the shape of the brush, which I don't like at all. I have tried to figure it out on my own, but so far I haven't been successful in fixing either of these problems. I'm hoping someone knows how to fix this as I can no longer do my work. As a last resort, I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling, but I'm
  21. It's easier to operate on small values, also there will be no need to do math (yay) So let say I want to rotate object clockwise by 67 degrees. That's easy - just enter 67. But when rotating counterclockwise things starts to look more complicated. I must calculate 360-67 to know it's 297... damn 293. See? What about just entering -67, and moving on? (maybe I mixed directions, but general idea still holds up)
  22. Can I request a rotation option for the fill windows gradient tab. at the moment you can only apply a right to left or visa-versa gradient from there, to rotate the gradient you then have to go to the fill tool, not intuitive at all.
  23. I have an urgent need to create a ring, where along the ring there are 'tick marks' like degrees on a compass, however, due to the nature of the project, I need to be very specific about where these 'ticks' lie around the circle, such that some need to be at a decimal precision of about 8 places. As far as I can tell, Designer only supports rotation precision to 1 decimal place. Is there an option or away to increase this to at the very least 4?
  24. I'm making a clock face. I set the guides to the dead centre, and I draw a 'tick' mark centrally using the guides. It's placed evenly over the vertical guide at 12 o'clock or 0/360 degrees around the clock face, then set the rotation anchor to the dead centre of the page using the guides. I duplicate that layer, and translate it using keyboard entry to exactly 5 or 10 degrees (depending on the tick mark I need). I press CMD+J to duplicate layer and transformation and populate the outside of the clock face. NOTICE: The rotation text field only allows single decimal pla
  25. Suggestion for a very small, but very useful feature/shortcut option for 1.7. I, as well as a vast majority of illustrators, designers and photo editors I know and work with, constantly rotate the canvas while working. This is not a 90 degree rotation, but rather just a standard rotation while working (exactly like the View - Rotate Left/Right/Reset options). Assigning this to custom shortcut keys helps speed things up (I currently have Rotate Left and Right assigned to Q and W in Designer), but it's still slow in comparison to Photoshop's dedicated rotation tool. With Affinity I'm l
