  1. When working with textures for 3D work, we usually want to use so called "Power of two" resolutions, because they are more optimized. So I'd like a new category of presets: "Power of two", i.e. 128x128px, 512x512px, 4096x4096px etc. From 1x1px to 32768x32768px.
  2. Request scanning resolution be increased from the current maximum of 600dpi. This is the only feature that keeps me from migrating fully from Photoshop. My current scanner can scan pictures well above 9600dpi, but AF maximum scan resolution is only 600dpi. Smaller prints need to be scanned at a higher resolution to work effectively with them. Thanks for your consideration. Kind Regards, Danny J. McNeal
  3. When closing the file | open dialog box from cancel, or alt+tab fast switching between Affinity and other apps on my Lenovo laptop, the application window occasionally appears to go into very low resolution mode for a moment as it redraws. It happens very quickly and does not cause any performance issues. It does not happen consistently and I have not been able to reproduce it on other monitors. This may be related to some of the other posts I've read related to the graphics driver type.
  4. Hi, could you make an input field for individual pixel resolutions (not 1x,2x,3x). into the export persona? I need it for css layouts. With this feature i could say each Slice how big he will be. Thanks Felix PS: If you don't understand what i mean look in the Files;-)
  5. Hello Affinity ! Have a weird problem and wanted to make sure i'm doing it correctly. I have a load of large scans of old photos, with multiple photos on each file. They were scanned at 1200 dpi as TIFFs. I've loaded them into Affinity and want to select each photo from the large scan and make a separate one. I've selected the area with the marquee, copied it then 'New From Clipboard' however the resultant image is clearly a lower resolution and size from the original when viewed at 100%. I've tried copying an area then creating a new file at 1200dpi and pasting it and it looks fine and the right size. It seems 'New From Clipboard' isn't transferring over the resolution maybe ? Or the size ? Or am i missing something ? Any suggestions welcome. cxi2001
  6. Dear all, I created a workspace with different artboards, choosing 300dpi for printing. One artboard shows a poster, another one the draft for a folder, but some other ones will be used for web, as a facebook header and as profile picture for example. As I do not need 300dpi for web graphics, I am wondering how I have to combine these artboards. Or should I create separate workspaces for print and web? I'd love to have everything on one workspace, as it makes copying and moving the elements from one artboard to another so comfortable and easy. As you can see, the facebook header is much to big, as I only used the dimensions but not the actual resolution for a header. The background for the website does have the correct size but does still have 300dpi. Plus, when exporting the website background as a jpg, it turns into extremely light neon colors... might that have something to do with the export? As I have to create and finish a six paged folder today, (as in the Beetle Builder example on Vimeo), any information on how to use / combine artboards for web and print would be highly highly highly recommended! Thank you very very much! :-)
  7. Hi, I run into performance issues with AP ... but i hear so many are very happy with AP concerning performance. I read more in the forum, and the only time I saw comparable performance comments as i experience, was when people used large displays. As my hardware is powerful enough and other programs do not suffer from bad performance. So i thought i ask for feedback from you, my question would be: What monitor and resolution do you have, and how is your performance? My two answers would be: Dell 32 inch 4k; bad performance Macbook Retina; ok performance I would be thankful for your input. All the best Sascha
  8. Hi friends, Can anyone tell if is there a reason why exporting a jpg image created with AP, should lower the resolution almost to a third of the original resolution I had worked with it in AP. ? I mean like a 25 Mgb to 15 Mgb. Odd..... Not my wish anyway, I simply wished it to put on my name as. usual and I do it in Photoshop. (simply a routine). I really needed to kower down a bit that image for in some art sites they do let you post inages with more than an amount of pixles. This....happened just accidentaly. I wonder...mostly when I do a composite I use 300 pixels of resolution....or it seems to appear that one by defect, Do not know. Then I try to lower down, Have not done any teating with AP images . Will see if something more would happen then, like changing te size when you change the reso lution rate. Thanks a lot. Rosa
  9. why is it when i resize a document from 72 dpi to 300 dpi and reduce dimensions accordingly, then export as a jpg the document size doesn't go through? for example i resize the picture, export as a jpg, then open in PS and the size is what it was before i resized.
  10. To me, this falls somewhere between bug and feature request, because it's not "wrong," per se. But recently I was setting up a large document for exporting multiple formats of a logo design, with multiple slices carefully laid out and snapped to grid. I wanted to export RGB versions at 72 dpi in pixels, and then (hoped) to scale the document up to 300 dpi and export in CMYK. However, doing this enlarged all design elements but left guides and slices the same size, very small, oriented to the top left corner. Re-sizing all of those guides and slices would probably take over an hour. :( It would be very nice if guides and slices also scaled (at least approximately) with resolution changes. I'll post a video of this later if it's helpful.
  11. I am opening existing *.ai files in Affinity Designer and conducting compatibility tests. In AD, if I click the "Document Setup..." button shown in the upper left corner of the Toolbar, it shows me "DPI: 300" in the Dimensions tab. This is confusing me. Say I have a linked EPS file that is 350dpi in that document. Will it be scaled down to 300dpi?? Or does that simply indicate that when you Rasterize something it will be 300dpi? If the latter is true, why not call it "Raster DPI" instead of just DPI?
  12. Hi, Is there a reason why my Raw images open as 96 DPI instead of 300 DPI say like in PS? Why is it reducing the res on import? Thanks in advance!
  13. Hello, I am an newbie. A-Designer looks great! I am sometimes working with low resolution image which I import in a layer. Is there a way to give the image a higher resolution?
  14. I'm trying to export an image and it says the resolution is too low even for 1x export, and it tells me to see the layers page. I then noticed that the background layer I'm using has a resolution of only 50dpi. If that's causing the problem, how do I remedy this? I tried exporting it without even the 1x box checked, and it did nothing (as I expected); When I try to export at 1x, it creates a .png file that has no image and seems to just increase in size indefinitely until I delete it. As you can imagine, not being able to export is a major inconvenience, and it threatens to put a lot of important things on hold. Does anyone know how to fix this or increase resolution or whatever needs to be done?
  15. I'm having trouble figuring out how to export a JPEG for print. The document is set to print and is 300 dpi, however, when I save, the image is 72 dpi. I don't see an option in the save settings (attached).
  16. Hi, I just started using Affinity Designer and I found one thing that significantly reduces my productivity (comparing to Inkscape). It is related to export of the vector image into multiple resolutions. On Android it is very common that one vector image is exported into multiple resolutions. Eg. launcher icon is exported into <project home>res/drawable-mdpi/ic_launcher.png with resolution 48x48px <project home>res/drawable-hdpi/ic_launcher.png with resolution 72x72px <project home>res/drawable-xhdpi/ic_launcher.png with resolution 96x96px ... Using Inkscape I made script exporting single drawing into multiple files. Is something similar possible with Designer? Thanks Tom
  17. Now that the iPhone 6+ is out and it wants 3x retina images (400+ dpi), design apps should start supporting it. There is some 2x image support in Affinity designer. But what about 3x retina images? (and perhaps something that's more future-proof). Thanks.
  18. I've created a 300x250 pix, 72dpi image in Affinity but when exporting it to a jpeg and pdf file to send to the publisher everything is very blurred and fuzzy. I've tried placing the Affinity image into PhotoShop but same results... blurred. Any suggestions? Thanks
  19. I see right now a 1x, and 2x. It would be awesome if we had a manual option. I'm looking at this from a UI standpoint where I want to export assets at different multiples (2x, 3x, 1/2, etc.)
