  1. Hello I moved my workflow at home and now I strangle to find the option to keep the object's aspect ratio when I resize it from the corner. In the office it keep the aspect ration when I resize it but in home I can't figure out what other to do than press shift while resizing (no big deal sure but I love the freedom to work only with the mouse in some operations). Where is the option? Thanks!
  2. With a Macro in Affinity Photo I need to take a larger file and resize the short edge to 1000 pixels. Wherever the long edge ends up is fine. I tried making a Macro, but the long dimension is locked into the length created with the original image used to create the Macro. The crops will be different for all of the photos. Is there any way to do this with Affinity Photo? Photoshop has a Fit command that I used in the past. I'm trying to get away from Photoshop!
  3. Good morning everyone. I need to do an extremely simple operation. I have many layers in my document and I want top resize each of them independently. How can I do that on Affinity iPad? On Photoshop for desktop I just press cmd-T and drag each layer. Thanks
  4. Hi, there seems to be no "one click" way to resize/scale a layer or vector object to the current canvas size. I would love to see this as an option when adding a layer/asset or as a button on the transform tool context bar, because I often have to manually resize assets or new layers when dragging/dropping objects to a document. Seems it would take just little effort to implement this and would incredibly reduce the amount of manual adjustments. What do you think? This feature was already suggested some times as in the threads listed below but it seems there is no easy way to achieve the desired result:
  5. Is there a way to have text which is on a path, scale like regular text when part of a group? I'll try to explain in detail here: I have a group of objects consisting of 2 text layers, 4 shape layers. One of the text layers is on a path forming an arch over my shape layers. The lower text is just normal text. These are all grouped together as one object. When I scale the group, all the layers, including the bottom text scale proportionately. However the upper text layer (on the path), this text does not scale at all.z Thanks.
  6. Hi guys, What have I done?! Suddenly I can't resize from the center when using the crop tool in Affinity Photo?... I hold down cmd+drag from the corner but it does not resize from the center as expected. I am pretty sure it used to do that. If I press cmd before grabbing the corner handle it uses the straighten tool... How do I get it to resize from the center?
  7. 1. Is there a way to crop the document/canvas/artboard to the exact rectangular area of the selected objects? In photoshop, you could cmd+click on the layer's thumbnail to select the entire object in the layer, then press C to switch to crop tool, and it automatically fits the crop area to the selection, so you get the minimum canvas size that fits the object. How do you achieve this in AD? While it's able to cmd+click on a layer to select the objects, I can't figure out a way to do the cropping for the canvas other than adjusting the document size with numbers. 2. when exporting, the "Area" dropdown menu is greyed out, how do I enable it? Thanks
  8. When I try to resize a picture frame, the content inside the frame is also getting stretched/distorted. Is this how it works on Affinity? Or it's a bug?
  9. I've noticed that when you resize an image in APhoto, the resized image has a 1-2 pixel 'halo' that's partially transparent. In Photoshop, contrariwise, resizing an image leaves the background layer without any such 'halo'. How can I get Affinity Photo to do a resize without that annoying 'halo' effect?
  10. Is there a way to resize an already cropped image in a Picture frame? In Indesign it is just holding ⌘-shift. In Publisher you'd expect just holding ⌘ would do it.
  11. Apologies for the title of the thread, I tried to be succinct. Double-clicking the bottom-centre adjustment handle of a text frame shrinks the frame to the size of the visible text by adjusting the height while keeping the top of the frame where it is. This is a documented function. Double-clicking the top-centre adjustment handle does similar but keeps the bottom of the frame where it is. As far as I can tell, this is an undocumented function. That’s fine, but, as part of a discussion here https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/100879-resize-text-frame-to-fit-copy-within/ I found that double-clicking the left-centre or right-centre adjustment handle of a text frame sometimes resizes the width of the frame. However, I couldn’t figure out what the resize criteria was. In other words, I don’t know how Publisher calculates the new frame width. See my GIF in the linked thread for an example of each. Does anyone know how the new frame width is calculated?
  12. I'm working with some tables in AFPub. I set up a custom size document: 5.5" x 6.75", margins .01 on all sides, and I drew a table across the page. This page is set up in Landscape mode. I merged some cells and then set the horizontal and vertical sizes and alignment. At that point, the app crashes. AFPub Crash Log.txt
  14. For some strange reason I cannot move the images or resize them when in Affinity Designer. Is not the first time it happens. I tried to paste an image from Affinity Photo and them when I paste it in A-Designer it didn't appear, then I was trying to move the rest of the images and was impossible (you can see the image of the afro woman, I was truing to drag it and couldn't, the move tool was creating a selection rectangle like if the image didn't existed or was blocked which it wasn't but the weirdest thing is that you could see the limits of the picture. This only happens with bitmap layers since with vectors is all normal.
  15. I don't know if there is a theory behind this action or not. I will be making file sizes and dimension up for this example and this process works for me when going to print photos. I hope it's easy to follow. 1. Let's say I have an image that is 5x8 at 1200 ppi and is 5MB in size. In photoshop the resize window shows width, height, ppi, and size in MB. I can alter the dimensions or ppi and photoshop will interactively recalibrate the overall size of the file. 2. If I want to use the photo at a larger size I will alter the H x W as large as I can and still retain the file size at 5MB. I try to resize photos at 300 ppi for archival purposes but I know that I can resize the photo up to a minimum of 188 ppi for printing. So for this example, say I rescale at 8 x10 @ 200ppi (again I'm making these numbers up). It always creates a photo that's printable without pixelization. As long as I retain the overall size of the file at 5MB it has worked for me. 3. The interactive adjustment of the dimensions and file size would be a great feature. Also AP's resize window does not show which value is the width and which is the height . . . Thanks.
  16. Hi there! So with the new version of Designer for the iPad, I am having problems inputting numbers into either the palette of the resize dialogue box. I have a document that's 8.5" X 11" and I am trying to resize the canvas to 8" X 3.5". I am not using artboards. I am using the resize function in the app. When I try to resize to the new size, the file becomes 8" X 3". It disregards the .5" for the height. I have tried multiple times and the same thing happens. I have made sure that the lock icon is not selected and it still doesn't work. I'm wondering if others are having this problem. The experience is similar in the color palette. I will click on a color, like Cyan and change it from 60 to 40. WHen I hit okay, Cyan may jump to 100, not change at all or another neighboring color like Yellow may change its numeric value. Also, for export, there are files that I have that if I select an artboard to export as an image, the app will not recall the size of the artboard. I have to right down the actual size and type it in manually. There have been times that the lock icon doesn't work properly, and if I change the width, the height will not auto adjust to compensate for the new width. These issues around units are barriers for using the iPad 100% without having to switch back to the desktop. And as I've mentioned in earlier posts, adding more after the decimal point and not rounding after one decimal will really help too! Thanks for all you do! Overall, this software blows my mind and really makes being creative a joy!!!!! All the best! Stephen
  17. Story to illustrate what this feature is useful for: I designed a UI image (in designer) at the size of the retina iPad screen. Later I realised that I should have made the document the size of the old iPad screen and used the @2x export in the slices tool to get the retina resolution. So I edited the document properties and scaled the document down to half its original size. It worked well except that the rounded corners on all my buttons and boxes maintained the original radius from the larger image, giving the appearance that the radii of all those corners had doubled, relative to the new size of the design. Feature request: When resizing a shape in the main UI, it is usually desirable that the corners maintain their radius regardless of the scale of the shape. However, when resizing the entire document, it would be better to scale the corner radii proportionally to the change in document scale so that the appearance of the document remains the same after rescaling.
  18. I am having trouble resizing images in a document. I am trying to create one document with a number of different images on it and I am having problems. I am using the move tool as I can see no resize or scale tool. These are my problems grabing the corner handles. Most of the time affinity wants to move the image layer rather than resize it no matter how many time I try specifying the size I want the image layer to be constraining or not constraining the proportions. i am new to affinity on the iPad but have photoshop experience, and I am sure there is an easy way to do this, help much appeciated
  19. Here is what I am used to do in Photoshop: Select crop tool Enter specific size in pixels Drag/resize the frame so I get what I want from the picture Hit enter to crop AND to resize to the exact pixel numbers I chose. When I try to do this in Affinity Photo, the pixel numbers I chose changes when I drag the frame. The reason for choosing and exact number of pixels was to lock that. But it seems like it behaves exactly as the unrestricted crop. Is there a setting I am missing?
  20. Hi Publisher Team, great product of yours! I already bought a license. Just one feature is missing - the "Fit to box" feature, which resizes the font in each line to automatically fit the text box's width as mentioned in this post: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/70240-resize-text-automatically/&do=findComment&comment=363910 It would be great to see this feature in your product so that an effect like in the attached image would be easy - today I need to manually resize every single line to fit the text in properly.
  21. Hi, I searched the forum, but couldn’t find if someone already mentioned a small problem here. I have few one-page spreads originally set as A4. When I resized some of them to A5 or A3, there’s no visual change or indication on the preview panel - it would be useful if pages in preview had different sizes or some other information about their dimensions.
  22. Would it be possible to add percentual resizing to the batch processing? At the moment *50% doesn't do anything and simply 50% is converted to 50px. Thanks
  23. Hello there! I am currently trying to resize an existing artboard to an exact value using the transform panel, however I can't get the textframes to scale with the artboard, rather than just changing the frame size. When I use the "scale handle" and "manually" resize the artboard, it works just fine. How would I go about doing it with the transform panel? I have this question also over on stackexchange: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/120555/affinity-designer-how-do-i-make-textframes-scale-with-the-artboard-if-i-scale-b Also attached you should find a gif demonstrating the issue I am facing.
  24. I do repetitive tasks where I have scans that need to be resized and cropped to a specific dimension. In my previous program (you know the one) I would set the px to 500 x 668 in the crop size boxes and so when I cropped it was already the correct size for me. So I guess it was resizing and cropping at the same time. I can't see how to do this on Affinity. I am so used to doing things this way I cannot even work out how to do it a long way round. If I crop first I crop it to the wrong aspect ratio and then when I resize to my specific dimensions I am distorting the image. Help me please! I am very new to this program, I would like to be able to use it but this is my first brick wall that could potentially destroy my resolution to free myself from 20 years of dependence to a company who don't give a flick about me!
  25. Hi, i am searching for any option to reset any squeezed or transformed picture to its original aspect ratio and to scale pictures numeric in %. while the rotation can be set to zero in the Transform Studio there is nothing like "Reset X/Y to 100%". The four different scale-options in the Pictureframe Properties don´t reset to the original aspect ratio of the file once the content is distorted. When working with files like floor plans, it is necessary to make exact changes like: 25% back to 75% etc. there should be deninitly x% and y% in the Transform Studio. I would like to have the option "Reset X/Y to 100%" at the image properties or some easy way to reset distorted images with a click thanks!
