  1. Hello, I would like to suggest adding a vectorization feature to your software, similar to Illustrator's functionality. This request is quite common, and many users are frustrated by the fact that this feature is practically non-existent! It's quite unfortunate. I sincerely hope that you will consider integrating this feature in an upcoming update. It would be greatly appreciated by the graphic design community and would be a significant advancement for Affinity. Please kindly consider this request and implement it if possible. Thank you for your attention.
  2. i would really love to have a stabiliser mode in Photo/Designer that works the same way the procreate one does. Unfortunately, it’s really difficult to describe or even show in a video, it has to be experienced first hand, but here’s the best one i could find that kinda/sorta shows what i mean:
  3. What I'm thinking of is an alternative to the classic layers: a node editor, where each layer would now be a node, with a mask and before input, so that you can reuse layer groups. What I'm thinking of: Each node has inputs and outputs depending on the type (example blur: input=image, radius form=type, radius, output=image) Creating groups and naming them storing created groups as global templates (like macros, but as components that can be stored) adding custom inputs to groups with custom labels maybe sharing groups online? (like as a marketplace for quick templates) As an orientation for how it would work, I would like something like Blender 3Ds node editor. As for how it's integrated into the UI, either it's a separate editor that you need to toggle on/off on a per-project basis, or it's a layer (like a node layer or something) that then opens a UI
  4. Guys, come on. You already have anchors. You already have hyperlinks to anchors. PLEASE give us the ability to insert the page number of an anchor and have it update when we rearrange pages. This is vital for creating hard copy reference manuals. I really hoped this would be included in V2 but I'm looking around and I can't find a way to do it. I don't want to do the "two frame/next frame page" method anymore, especially when I have literally dozens of references to make, per page, through a book that's over a hundred pages long. If there's a way to do this now, please let me know. If there isn't, please, PLEASE add it in.
  5. Hello, I don't know if this has been requested/suggested before but I have a small suggestion to improve workflow for someone like me. The idea is to use the align function with a modifier key. Right now whenever you choose multiple objects and align them center or middle from the context toolbar (without going through the alignment option and choosing the first or last selected objects) they just meet in the middle of the selection bounding box. My suggestion is to use the align option from the context toolbar with the command or shift to align with the last object you selected. Attached is an image of what I mean.
  6. Pretty please can we get a waveform for images as either an alternative or complement to the histogram? Thanks
  7. Hi I have a feature request for a gradient tool to be added to Pixel persona or Affinity photo. Attached I show you how this tool could work. Adding multiple gradients on a pixel layer. Before I switched to Affinity, I used this tool all the time. I miss it a lot. It would be very nice if you could add this feature. Happy new year 😊 Best regards Gradienttool.mkv
  8. Interface request: Click&Hover mouse over visibility checkboxes area in Layers Panel could toggle or change while mouse moving. It could check initially if first click is toggling to hide or show the layer and copy this state to every hovered checkbox until mouse release. Of course you can select now with Ctrl or Shift layers and toggle visibility of chosen layres group... But I propose (imho) nice improvement of Layers Panel I tried to illustrate this in attachment. Cheers. Neosim
  9. The more I work with Affinity Photo, the more I like it. There's a couple of things that keeps me from leaving Photoshop still, and one of those things are very important for me when I create game assets. I need DDS export. Plain and simple. (but I guess it's not plain and simple to develop that feature.. ) What I need is either the nVidia Photoshop plugin to work with Affinity Photo, or a built in DDS export feature in which I could select different things like I think these types of DDS are the most common. DXT1, DXT3, DXT5 and 3DC. Why DDS? Because it's a pre-compiled/compressed image format which is loaded to the GPU at runtime. Some game-engines can handle this conversion when you import a TGA, PNG or what have you, while others require you do this before importing to the game engine. In the case of making mods, you don't usually have access to the game engine the game is using directly as a developer, and you're bound to making these DDS files prior to testing the asset in-game. Please consider this, Affinity! I know a many hobbyists, modders or even developers who'd most likely get Affinity Photo because of this feature alone, because they won't pay a monthly fee to get Photoshop.
  10. First off, Affinity is a stellar piece of kit. I am a very satisfied customer. However there is a small oversight that is really strange and I think should be fixed. So, I checked the help section, which was incredibly useful and very well designed, lovely experience. and I couldn't find any way to add strokes to selections. This seems like a really weird oversight. Krita and Medibang can do this, photoshop can, and so can gimp, but Affinity can't and that does sour the experience in an otherwise fantastic piece of software. I hope this feature is added to affinity photo in the near future. the selection tools available are nothing short of spectacular, so it seems strange that there is no option to add a stroke with a pixel line or a current brush when everything else is really good. I am doing this on 2 fold: 1 I wanna help affinity as much as I am able, especially since its a reasonably priced 1 off payment. 2 I don't want myself or those who have similar opposition to adobe as i do, come crawling back to photoshop. I will continue to explore this app and report my findings and thoughts here to help the devs keep this tool awesome for everyone who uses it. Will also be down in the future to keep buying software from you guys should you continue to take a stab at adobe. I'll be happy to give money and feedback. Photo is such an incredible piece of kit, and I want to help make sure that everyone who needs it doesn't have to crawl back to adobe over some silly trifles. I will gladly give some of my time to the devs of photo if they want me to test the implementation of this. Have a nice day everyone.
  11. Hi guys, I'm part of a type design community working with the Glyphs app (https://glyphsapp.com/) or Fontlab (https://www.fontlab.com). This is a huge community and type design is an important part of the design process. There are some real typography rockstars in this space wanting to work with Affinity. We'd love to have a system fonts folder, like Adobe has, to export and test fonts with Affinity apps. Adobe's fonts folder is usually located here: user > library > application support > adobe > fonts This folder allows us to export fonts to this location and prevent Apple font cache issues. Because Adobe directly reads typefaces from this folder there's never an issue and you can export and test fonts unlimited. Whereas if you'd use Apple Fontbook, you'd need to clear font cache all the time, because it's almost impossible to change the same font file a few times in a row without issues. Having a specific folder for the Affinity Suite would help a LOT of type designers out there. I know a lot of people who are switching from Adobe to Affinity, but this is kind of a dealbreaker, because font cache issues are horrible to work with. Would this be possible? @ Type Designers feel free to jump in!
  12. I see in different topics here the demand for the Step and Repeat tool found in InDesign. Glad to see there are others than me that misses this terrific tool. Replies refer to the duplicate tool and the alignment tool but even though they sort of can do what the step and repeat tools does, I just cant see them as handy. They need several steps, copying layers, clicking ctrl-x for each copy needed an so fourth. And maybe the biggest disadvantage: What if you want to adjust the spacing between your items. Then you have to undo all steps and start from the beginning. With the Step and repeat tool, you just change the spacing value and everything re-renders. You can easily experiment with different values until you are satisfied. Current Step and Repeat tool That brings me to my Feature request. To add the Step and repeat tool into Affinity Software would be nice but why not expand the tool while your at it. The Step and repeat tool in InDesign offers a way to repeat an item as many times you want horizontally or vertically or both. You set the step value for the x- and y-axis and it renders out your items. Nice and easy. If you change the step values, it renders your items again. A perfect way to experiment with different values. New feature Request: Step and repeat along path What if it also was possible to align your items along a circle. You add number of copies and chose circle and set the radius value of the circle. An option here could also be "distrubute evenly along path" so that it automatically set the right spacing between items for a full circle. An other option could be to set the rotation value 0-360 if you dont want a full circle. With this tool it would be easy to for instance make an analog clocks minute och 5-minute marks. If you add an option to make your items rotate along path it would be perfect for the clocks minute lines so the lines also correctly angles along the path as expected. While where at it, why don't we make it poosible to align items along any path. Square, triangle of freeform or whatever. You can do it with text today, why not make it possible to do with other objects as well. More options There are many more transform options that could be added here. I thought of a few. One is a scale curve where the items scales accordingly to the scale curve as they are added. Another transform option would be color change after preset colors or a color gradient. Finally i have added a few sketches to illustrate examples of how this tool could be used. If you like my idea, please comment.
  13. In Affinity Photo it is possible to turn a curve into a selection or mask. The way back, converting a selection into a curve, is currently not possible. This would be my new requirement. Affinty Photo V.1.10.5.1342, Windows
  14. In Affinty designer it is possible to fill a curve or contour with the last used vector brush. It would be a new useful feature to do this with paintbrushes in Affinty Photo as well. The option field in the contours is already there, but it currently has no function. Affinty Photo V.1.10.5.1342, Windows
  15. First, I love Affinity Designer, but I do love a tool from Concepts app called Nudge, attached you can find a video showing how it works. And it’s not just for lines, is so fun to use it with complex art too! It’s an amazing tool, that makes so easy and interesting to edit vectors, and I believe is so revolutionary that Affinity Designer must have it (and improve it) so we don’t need to use Concepts instead. Sorry for my bad English, thanks! 929F89D9-716B-4D2F-AF63-C8F41F3C3671.MOV
  16. Please I am from an Arab country most of my work is based on Arabic Fonts (Right to Left fonts) so I find a difficulty in Affinity Designer because it doesn't support tight to left fonts. I have to right it in Adobe illustrator export it as a png then import to to my Affinity Designer project as a png image. You see how it is difficult! My request is that you can fix that problem and support Arabic fonts or right to left fonts. Thank you in advance.
  17. Coming from Illustrator, something I used somewhat infrequently but often enough was the Variable Stroke Width tool. This tool allowed you to change the width of the stroke along a curve (we have this) with adjustable Anchors along the curve (we don’t have this). Very useful if you wanted to precisely align a specific stroke width to a specific area of the shape like a pre-measured curve anchor. This video shows what I’m talking about:
  18. For me, the i'd welcome the Slice Tool being able to Snap to Grid. Better still would be for it be able to detect snapping constraints in similiar fashion to the node/pen tools.
  19. I will be happy if you could add the "Shape Builder" tool to Affinity Designer like in Adobe illustrator it will be very helpful. This feature will go with Affinity Designer to the next level. I hope that you will take my request into consideration. Thank you
  20. Hey guys, One thing that keeps bugging me when I open a project that I'm working on is that the first thing I have to do is switch to the respective Document Palette from the Default Palette. Wouldn't it make more sense for a document to remember this and just select the last Document Palette you used (in case you have more than one) when opening a .afdesign file? Or at least give us an option in the Palette menu to set that Document Palette as default for that specific document. This would be nice as well. What do you think? Thanks in advance, Cristian
  21. Hello, does anyone know if the devs are planning on adding more options for the canvas rotation feature? In Krita you can freely rotate the canvas holding Shift+Space and Right MB (and it feels soooo goood), the new rotation feature is really cool but I think implementing it so both mouse users and pen/stylus users can use it would be better.
  22. I will be happy if you can add the feature "Expand or Expand appearance" to expand objects in Affinity Designer like in Adobe illustrator. Thank you so much, I hope you will take this request into consideration
  23. If you could add this feature of "Merge" in pathfinder tool like in Adobe illustrator it will help in vector art coloring easily. I hope you take this request into consideration. Thank you
  24. Currently the selected colour changes on a tool by tool basis. For example I choose a blue while I’m using a paintbrush but I switch to the fill tool and the colour changes to orange, which was the last colour I used to flood fill a layer 3 documents ago. I don’t personally understand the logic of making the active colour tool driven, rather than context driven. Mask layers are a case in point. The context of working in a mask or on an adjustment layer is that you are working in black, white or grey, yet the active tool and whatever colour you selected dictates the colour in this context. I appreciate I might be missing the grand plan here, but surely I’m not alone?
