  1. So, am I doing something wrong, or is the default dpi when the CR.3 file is developed 72???
  3. Affinity Photo currently does not support the .gpr filetype - please add support to ease workflow! (Adobe DNG converter is a terrible extra step!)
  4. How can I save the XMP file from a raw edit? or the option to automatically save xmp settings as in Camera Raw
  5. Hello all I evaluate AP 1.7 as a replacement for Lightroom but run in some very basic problems with raw file development. 1. When I develop one single raw file (DNG from Lightroom) AP writes a huge file (121MB versus 19MB original). This is no good. Is there a way to save the adjustments done in a fair way without using the alternative formats like tif, jpg etc. ? 2. I want to develop several raw files (DNG from Lightroom) at once with a batch process and saving them in jpg or tif for further processing. However, I do not manage to apply the individually made macro in Photo Persona to process the RAW files in Photo Develop, although I can select the macro. Possibly the macros are not compatible? How can I process several raw files the same way? 3. Is it still not possible in AP to save adjustments made in single raw files in an undestructive way? Thank you for your helpful answers. Best regards,
  6. I just started shooting RAW (CR3) with a new camera (Canon 90D) and noticed some artifacts when developing from the Develop persona. The images are large (32 MP), so occasionally it takes half a second for the changes to propagate to the image. For example, I will modify the shadows/highlights and for half a second the image will scan (or pixelate) as the changes are applied. Sometimes when I do this I notice large, slightly discolored squares as if the effect wasn't completely applied. For an image of this size, the squares are probably around 500px to 1000px on each side. I can fix it by modifying the slider again, but when I actually press "Develop", the squares usually return. On one image I was able to remove it, but on another it had 3-4 of these discolored squares so I had to reopen it to make the changes in the Develop persona again. My graphics card is always up-to-date and I'm also using the latest version of Affinity Photo.
  7. hi everybody! have a serius problem with Affinity Photo. to develop raw files (cr2) I open "Sviluppo Persona", after adjusting settings (really very few adjustment), so I click Sviluppo to switch to Persona Foto to export my work in Jpg...but the transition from sviluppo persona to persona foto (for every photo) is very slow! what's the problem? Really is too slow. I can't work in this way. VERY BAD!!! Ps: Work on Mac
  8. I want to deliver uncompressed 16-bit TIFF files to a client (unfortunately, I don't know the specifics on how they will be printed, like size, paper stock, etc..,) so I would like to give them the best image I can, then they can do what they need to on their end to meet their print needs. So I'm trying to work out the best workflow. There are 12 images I need to deliver, so I was going to batch process them into 16-bit TIFF files (from the RAW files), then open them in Affinity Photo to edit. Keeping in mind that AP can't export uncompressed TIFFs, what's the best workflow from this point? Open in AP, edit, save as TIFF with layers, then flatten, and deliver as is? Assuming that the TIFF I'm working with is uncompressed. Or , edit, save as TIFF with layers, then open in Preview and save as an uncompressed TIFF? Is there anyway to work with the photo in AP's file format, then get it back to an uncompressed TIFF? Not sure if I'm over complicating things, but all I really want to do is Take my RAW file, edit in Affinity Photo, and deliver an uncompressed TIFF. (The client actually requested a EPS file, because they will use Illustrator at some point, but that's not my problem lol.) Thanks for the help.
  9. running AP 1.8.4, but AP still does not recognize any lens profile for LX 100 M2. I added "Leica DMC-LX100 & compatible" to my favourites in order to quickly apply a suitable profile manually. In Develop Assistent I also set Lens Profile Default to "last used". This helps some way. I'm not sure that "Leica DMC-LX100 & compatible" yields the best possible adjustment. So what is the current state with LX100M2?
  10. No matter how hard I try, I am still not able to edit NIKON Z6 II RAW files in the Affinity Photo. Exactly the same problem with NIKON Z50 RAW files. Already installed the Nikon NEF codec pack from the official website and also tried the Adobe DNG Converter. Still no luck. With the DNG plugin other software such as Zoner Photo Studio, XnView or Nikon Capture-NX can display and edit the Z50 RAW files, but the images are so hideous - under exposed, very grey and strangely coloured. Any idea how to fix this? All kinds of help heavily welcomed - thank you !!! OS Windows 10 Pro 64bit / latest 20H2 build Affinity Photo / latest build 1.8.5.703 Adobe DNG Converter / latest build 12.2.0.387 NIKON NEF Codec / latest build 1.31.0
  11. I was following James Ritson's first tutorial Jump into Affinity . I uploaded the RAW image, and the program switched (correctly) to the Develop persona. Once developed, it was fine, and I was able to follow all the instructions. However, before it was developed, while still in Develop persona, it looked like this, with the sun part of the image blown out as can be seen. Can anyone explain why this might happen? Is it to do with my graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 620)?
  12. Hi everyone! First i’m loving Affinity Photo and am amazed at what i can do with it. One thing that bugs me though is figuring out the workflow from multiple raw files to end photo. I shoot mostly portraits so lighting circumstances are the same for multiple photos at a time. I basically have 2 things i’m wondering about depending on what is possible. Is it possible to apply the develop persona settings to multiple raw files? I believe you can do that with the desktop version by saving it as some sort of preset. I would love to know if this is at all possible on the iPad version. Otherwise feature request Another route would be to use Lightroom for the developing proces and then exporting it to cloud storage. I’ve tried tiff files but that generates 150 MB files from 25 MB raw files (exported as 16bit). Also tried jpegs but would prefer a file type without compression/data loss. Next thing i’ll Try is DNG. I would love to here your thoughts and suggestions! Thanks.
  13. Hello, My files are located on a QNAP NAS. When I chose „open from cloud“ or „import from cloud“, I get an transparent document (see attached file). Any other files, even the .CR3s form My EOS R, open or import correctly an can be edited. When I first copy the R5 files from the NAS to a folder on my iPad, they open correctly and can be edited. Best regards, BigVood
  14. Hi there Thanks for receiving me in the group, I'm new to Affinity and photography Here's my issue, if I have one... I've uploaded a couple of pictures to Affinity both jpeg and raw and when magnified they look extremely pixelated, unlike in the normal photo viewer from Windows. 4500 by 6700 pixels should be high quality photos, Please find attached the pictures to review, thanks a lot CU2A5420.CR2
  15. I had already opened this, edited it, saved it and I must have done something that means that now, when I open it, the Basic panel is missing. I can't see what to do to get it back. I've attached a snapshot of what the panels area looks like. Hope this helps. Hoping someone can advise me on what to do! Many thanks Carol
  16. Hi folks. I use C1 for RAW editing, however it does not offer tools for bracketing or stacking. I have a 30 exposure (in place of long exposure) set, each with 0,-1,+1ev brackets (90 images). This will be my first time bracketing + stacking a set of exposures, so advise would be appreciated. If I edit the 0 ev exposures in C1 then send to AP they will be converted to Tiff and then not editable easily in C1 again. I’m not experienced in AP raw processing so not sure if that is the most appropriate way forward. Q1: Would it be best to edit exposures in raw first, in C1 or AP, then combine each bracket sequence, followed by stacking the result of the brackets? Q2: What alternate workflow might work best in this scenario, given the images will need some IQ processing? IE stack each bracket value first then combine each stacked image? Feedback welcome, thanks in advance.
  17. I have just started shooting in RAW only (Sony A7iii) so obviously when I open the image in AP in will open in the develop persona, now I would normally just click the develop tab so it would open in the photo persona and I would edit my image from here. Should I be doing the editing in the Develop Persona first ? What's the difference between editing in the develop persona compared to developing in the photo persona ? How far should I edit my image in the develop persona before doing the final if any editing in the photo persona ? Thanks.
  18. Hi Team, I have recently updated my DSLR Camera to the new Canon M50, this camera uses a new RAW file, CR3 files. Please can you update me and other users as to when Affinity Photo will support this file format? No pressure, but Adobe has now updated PS to include this new files format.
  19. Hi there! I recently started using RAW rather then JPEG for my photos and I'm somewhat confused. In both, Windows and macOS, when previewing CR2 files in the preview tools that come with the OS, the images load and for a moment they look (sometimes drastically) different than when loaded in Affinity Photo. It takes maybe a second or so and the images seem to be processed, after which they look like they do in Affinity Photo. On macOS, with XnViewMP, it always displays that "unprocessed" version, it seems. Can someone explain what's happening here?
  20. Hi guys, i've a serious issue: when i sharp a picture in RAW mode and then i develop, this lose my sharpening and become soft again. What's wrong???
  21. will there be any ability to save a sidecar file for a raw edit in the new release? i can't see it in the beta
  22. Lately, i’m not able to import a raw picture taken vertically. Do i need to change settings Or does the app require an update ? tnx
  23. Most (if not all) RAW processing software I have worked with so far have ways to remember settings and later continue the RAW processing with these settings or perform adjustments to these settings if the final outcome (e.g. final JPG image) proved to be not perfect. There are two aspects here which imho need improvement to make this iterating process less frustrating: 1. Saving photo-specific RAW settings (e.g. to sidecar files) Currently Affinity Photo has only one rather cumbersome way to achieve this: You have to create a Preset for each tab where you changed settings and if you re-open the RAW file later you have to load all these presets again. (Affinity Photo shows them selected, but this is irritating since they have not actually been applied. Only after switching to another preset and then back are the changes taking effect. - A small bug I'd say.) Most other RAW processing software either automatically stores or optionally allows to store a small sidecar file together with the (unaltered) RAW file so that if the RAW is later opened again, the user can continue where it left off. An alternative is Affinity keeping an internal database about the settings of each RAW file, but this approach usually fails if images are moved to a different folder or archived (which happens to all my images after processing) and Affinity doesn't know about this. 2. Allow switching back to real RAW processing from Photo persona Also when I developed a photo and then switched back to the Develop persona (without doing any edits inbetween, I should note), I found myself not editing the original RAW file, but applying further edits on the already processed image. This was a big disappointment, as it defies the benefits of working on the RAW file. This means for example that If I found out I applied too strong noise reduction or too strong highlights clipping then switching to Develop again does not help, because what is lost in the developed image cannot be recovered. Please offer the user an easy possibility to apply changes to the originally processed image afterwards. (Which means, that the application must remember the RAW settings at the time the image was last developed). Matthias
  24. Hi Everyone, Hope I placed this in the correct area. I was curious, is there any benefits to using Capture One for Raw editing over Affinity Photo's Develop Persona? Thanks in advance!
  25. Hello I recently switched to Affinity photo, currently on the latest version 1.8.4, been using it for like a year and so far loving it. except the following issue. I am using Nikon Z50 camera, and set my camera to take photos in RAW + JPEG whenever I shoot a photo, then copy the sd card contents to my mac 1. The JPEG taken by the camera has correct colors / white balance / exposure. 2. Opening the NEF file in Affinity photo develop persona, and change nothing, click develop then export the resulted image to JPG looks so flat, no vibrant enough, and it's really really hard to match the exact white balance i saw or the exact white balance of the original JPEG mentioned in point #1 3. Opening the same NEF on Capture One 20, and also changning nothing and export the image to jpg, gives way better image, comparable to #1 but not exactly 4. Opening the same NEF on FastRawViewer then taking a screenshot of the view also gives a good result, comparable to #1 but not exactly For comparison, i did the same for photos taken with my old Nikon D3400, and surprisingly the resulted image from Affinity photo NEF -> Export is not far from the original JPEG from camera. See d3400 original: vs d3400 processed in affinity photo (NEF -> Develop -> Export) I am wondering what might be causing Affinity photo to be off this much when processing NEF files especially for Nikon Z50 ? does any one with Nikon Z50 faces the same problem? Thanks
